The boys do a soft launch of their relationship and Class 3-A feels insane

Notes:

I'm such a sucker for secret relationships and reveals. Here's my take on the trope!

Edited 3/25: At the advice of a kind and helpful comment I broke up some of the dialogue to hopefully make it easier to read! Thank you so much AlderaanPlaces!

Work Text:

Soft sunbeams permeated the curtains, casting a warm glow on the two bodies huddled together on the bed. Katsuki blinked his eyes open, squinting at the sudden brightness and moving closer to the person next to him, seeking their warmth. Groggily turning his head, he locked eyes with the All Might that was tacked on the wall. A true stare-off, until Katsuki blinked first. Thank god the nerd had downgraded his nerd cave to just a select few items, otherwise, he doesn’t think he’d be able to sleep in here peacefully. Izuku stirs next to him, nuzzling his face into Katsuki’s neck as he struggles to wake up.

Without warning Izuku rockets up as if on fire “Kacchan what time is it!?” he whisper yells “You were supposed to sneak back into your room before the sun came up!” he glares pointedly.

Katsuki merely shrugs “It’s still early babe, I doubt the extras are up at this hour on a weekend”. That seems to placate Izuku for now and he settles back down into Katsuki’s side, basking in the sleepiness and peace that lingered.

Now third year students, Katsuki and Izuku have kept their relationship secret from everyone excluding their parents and All Might. When they were testing the waters in second year, they kept it secret to keep the nosy fucks out of their business and after a few months of officially dating they meant to tell everyone, they really did... it just never came up naturally. Then they conveniently forgot to mention it, and now here they were, about to graduate and become Pro-Heroes, and still, no one knew.

“Hey Zuku?” Katsuki asks softly, careful not to break the delicate atmosphere of early morning “do you think we should tell the extras we’re together before graduation?” Izuku merely gapes at him.

“Kacchan are you sure?” he asks nervously “you’re the one who wanted to wait a while because you said they’d be ‘fucking annoying’” Izuku imitates Katsuki, and he huffs out a laugh at the spot-on impression.

“Yeah, fuck yeah” Katsuki looks at Izuku with resolve “I love you and I want those extras to know you’re mine”. Izuku stares at Katsuki, his green eyes pooling in the way Katsuki knows means he’s close to tears “So possessive Kacchan” he says in an amused, but watery voice “I love you too”.

Katsuki leans in, catching Izuku’s soft lips with his own, tilting his chin up with his thumb and forefinger just enough for their mouths to meet properly. It was a sweet and chaste kiss, perfect for this little bubble of serenity they’d been locked in since daybreak.

Izuku breaks first, grinning at Katsuki and poking fun at how sappy he was now. Katsuki just mutters “yeah yeah, only for you nerd” and moves to get out of bed to start making his way back to his own room.

Izuku stops him “Wait Kacchan, when are we gonna tell everyone we’re together?”. Katsuki looks at Izuku, still sitting in his bed all sleepy and cute, and an idea forms.

A slow smirk spreads across his face “Let’s not tell them” he simply says. Izuku makes a confused noise “Wha- Kacchan we literally just had this conversation like five minutes ago-” Katsuki interrupts before he can go any deeper into his confusion “I mean… let’s just show them. We’ll stop hiding it”.

Izuku laughs lightly “You know that’s gonna have Iida flipping out, right?” Katsuki does know this, he just thinks pushing Iida’s buttons is incredibly funny “Eh let him be a spazz, he’ll just be jealous” he winks, and Izuku flushes crimson.

Katsuki goes to leave Izuku’s room after one last kiss, but Izuku almost pulls him back under the covers to cuddle more, citing “It’s for rejuvenating health reasons” and “you care about my health don’t you Kacchan?”. With the accompanying pout he wears, it almost works. Sneaky little nerd. But he finally breaks free from the cute little fucker with promises he’d see him downstairs in a bit for breakfast. He doesn’t leave Izuku’s room like he normally would, scoping for people and sneaking around like a damn criminal. Those days are over. Instead, he walks straight out onto the second floor without a care in the world for who might see him.

Turns out he was right, and nobody was awake. But the sheer freedom of not sneaking around anymore felt so good. He was giddy to see Izuku in the common area, where he knows people would be gathering soon. After riding the elevator up to the fourth floor he stopped in front of his door and was grabbing his key card when Kirishima’s door swung open. He seemed startled to see Katsuki standing outside his door in pajamas but quickly recovered, a bright smile breaking out over his face.

“Bakugou! What’re you doing out here in your PJs?” Kirishima asks a little confused.

“Sh- Kirishima, it’s too fucking early for you to be yelling” Katsuki bites out, reprimanding himself for the name slip. He’s been actively trying not to be a total dick all of the time.

“Well I obviously didn’t sleep in my room last night dumbass” he says offhandedly.

Kirishima blinks “Did you sleep on the couch in the common room or something? Dude, you went to bed at like 9” his tone taking on more puzzlement as the conversation continues.

“Slept in Izuku’s room” is all Katsuki says before opening his door and shutting it in Kirishima’s face.

Kirishima stood there in shock for about 20 seconds, processing what he’d heard. Until finally, the sound of doors opening shook him from his stupor and he walked to the elevator, still in a slight daze. By then, Katsuki had changed and was ready to head down to the common area, hoping that Izuku was already down there. Getting off the elevator in the common room his ear is immediately drawn to a musical laugh, apparently, Icy-Hot said something relatively funny. Tch. He’s struck by the urge to wrap his arms around Izuku, even though they just parted not too long ago. He remembers that now he can, there was no hiding from anyone anymore.

Making his way over to Izuku he notes that only Todoroki, Kirishima, and Uraraka were down here, conversing in a small group together with Izuku. As he gets closer, he can hear that they’re talking about some new side-kick that debuted, Izuku getting excited about their quirk applications. He’d already heard the whole spiel last night so he doesn’t pay super close attention to the details.

Katsuki comes up behind Izuku, wrapping his arms around his front and resting his chin on top of his head. Izuku sinks into his hold but doesn’t spare him anything more than a smile and a soft “Hi Kacchan” before continuing his rant about the new quirk he’s fixated on.

Katsuki must have a dopey look on his face because the others in the room are looking at the two of them like they’ve grown extra heads. For once, Katsuki ignores his classmates and just sways lightly in place with Izuku. Content to listen to the lilt of his voice.

After a minute, Izuku peters off from his discussion, and Katsuki can hear his stomach rumbling. He drags Izuku with him to the kitchen to start making them breakfast, leaving behind his flabbergasted classmates who had yet to move an inch.

“Is it just me, or was that… strange” comes Uraraka’s surprised tone.

Kirishima shakes his head violently “No… not just you… OH- I ran into Bakugou this morning, and you’re probably like, Kirishima of course you did you guys live on the same floor-” the other two stare at him expectantly, waiting for him to cut to the chase “anyways the weird thing was that he said he didn’t sleep in his room last night, bet you can’t guess whose room he slept in” he says smugly, likes he's harboring some great secret.

“Izuku’s” Todoroki’s cool voice chimes. “Izu- hey, Todoroki how the hell did you guess that” Kirishima whines.

In lieu of answering, Todoroki just nods his head toward the kitchen, where Bakugou and Midoriya are standing, the picture of domesticity. “Huh, guess it was kind of obvious” Kirishima says as he sheepishly rubs the back of his head.

“Okay whatever, that was obvious, but what isn’t is what’s going on between those two” Uraraka points at Bakugou and Midoriya, the former spoon-feeding Deku something from whatever pot of food he has going on the stove.

“I mean, they’re childhood friends” Kirishima shrugs “Maybe this is just something childhood friends do. They have been getting closer since the end of first year” he ponders aloud.

Uraraka hums “Maybe, whatever it is though I’m gonna get to the bottom of it” she decides. Kirishima voices his agreement and they drag Todoroki, their unwilling accomplice, to find the rest of their classmates.

Katsuki and Izuku stay in their own little bubble in the kitchen. They don’t notice the others' absence until suddenly it seems like every single person in the dorm is bustling through the common area. Shouting good mornings and waving to each other across the room like they hadn’t seen that person for weeks, rather than just last night. Izuku hops off from where he was perched on the counter to go say good morning to the rest of the class, leaving Katsuki to finish packing up their breakfast in containers for later. He doesn’t mind though he likes taking care of Izuku like this.

Katsuki soon joins Izuku in the main area, and he can already hear the piercing shriek of Mina “BAKUGOUUUUUU” he flinches at the sound “are you coming to game night tonight?” Mina smiles at him brightly, hope in her voice because he only occasionally comes.

He turns to find Izuku in the crowd, finding that the other’s eyes were already on him and he smirks, Izuku blushes, turning back to whatever lecture Iida was giving.

“Sure” he shrugs facing back to Mina, but privately he thinks it’s more of an opportunity to be with Izuku in public.

Mina squeals “Awesome! So, we’ll have dinner first and then play some games, OH then we usually end with a movie!” she finishes excitedly, happy that her reserved friend was finally involving himself with class activities. “Sounds good” he trails off, half-listening to her, eyes already trying to seek out Izuku again.

He finds his target already walking toward him, Izuku’s hand automatically seeking his. That instantly signaled to him that things were getting a little too chaotic and he needed somewhere calmer to reset. Taking his scarred hand into his own, he rubs his thumb soothingly over the back of it.

Leading him away from the mass of people gathered by the tables he quietly asks “You okay?”.

Izuku nods and bites his lip, and bad habit for when he’s overwhelmed “Yeah ’m fine, it just got a little loud for a second”.

Katsuki knows that Izuku is more affected than he’s letting on, so he suggests that they go up to Katsuki’s room and lay down for a bit, Izuku nods, relief present on his face. Katsuki glances at the clock before they settle down into his bed, it reads 10:39 a.m. He figures they’ll nap for an hour or two and then eat lunch. Izuku snuggles into his chest, and Katsuki drifts off contentedly.

_______

They both are startled awake by loud banging on the door. Izuku shoots up in an echo of this morning, groggy confusion evident on his face. Katsuki rolls out of bed and staggers to the door, cursing whoever’s there and their entire bloodline five times over. He swings the door open and it’s a frantic Kaminari, fist raised in the air from where it was interrupted mid-knock.

“Don’t kill me” he starts hesitantly, letting out a nervous chuckle “but we need you downstairs, like urgently”.

Katsuki inhales through his teeth “Kaminari… what the fuck could you possibly need right now”.

Kaminari word promptly word vomits “okay so basically I saw a spider and I screamed and jumped up on the couch and accidentally let out a blast of electricity that fried the common room TV which we need for movie night tonight so can you please come and fix it” a little red in the face after that long-winded explanation he takes a big gulp of air.

Katsuki stands there unamused “you interrupted our nap for that shit? Fix it yourself” he starts to close the door but Kaminari sticks a foot in to stop it from closing. “Please Bakugou” he half cries “I don’t want to be blamed for this!”.

Katsuki stares at him likes he’s stupid “You are to blame”, Kaminari scoffs indignantly “I am not! It was the spiderrrr” he whines.

Katsuki was getting fed up, his body was tensing and he was close to shouting until a pair of arms wrapped around him and a solid body pressed into him from behind. He’d know it was Izuku just from the way he smelled, like clean laundry and pine trees. It’s instantly soothing to his fraying nerves and he relaxes into the hold with a deep breath.

“Kacchan come on, let’s just go help fix the TV” Izuku says calmly “Uncle Masaru taught us both remember”.

Katsuki did remember, very vividly, all the times that he and Izuku would help his dad put together different circuit boards when they were younger. His dad had a weird hobby but it came in handy sometimes.

Katsuki looks at Kaminari’s pleading face, and like the whipped man he is he can’t say no to Izuku “Okay whatever, but we’re getting changed first” he tells Kaminari.

Izuku hums in acknowledgment and unwraps himself from Katsuki, retreating back into the room. “We’ll be down in a minute idiot, try not to break anything else” he says rubbing a hand down his face like this conversation has taken years off his life. Maybe it has. He promptly shuts the door in Kaminari's face not waiting to hear his answer.

A loud gasp has him whirling around concerned and he sees Izuku staring at the clock from across the room, then he moves closer, picks it up, and stares at it some more. Like if he just looked at it hard enough the numbers would magically change.

“What??” Katsuki asks with unease and Izuku merely flips the clock around, the glowing numbers of 5:13 p.m. stare back at him menacingly.

“HOLY SHIT” he exclaims loudly “We basically slept the whole day! We’ve never done that before what the fuck-” he’s pacing, rambling about his routine being fucked and the day being wasted.

Izuku calls out to him, trying to calm his ranting “Love if we slept for that long then I’m positive we needed the sleep”.

Sweet, sweet Izuku, sometimes he is the voice of reason. “We’ve been training a lot harder than usual to get ready for graduation and today was a rest day that we’d been looking forward to. Just take the extra sleep as a win, our bodies need it you know” he looks coyly at Katsuki. This time it’s Katsuki’s turn to blush.

After a mini freakout, they’re on their way down to the common area once more. Exiting the elevators, they’re greeted by a chorus of “Dudes where the hell have you guys been today?”.

Katsuki doesn’t answer, opting to go straight for the TV, but Izuku just laughs “We took too long of a nap. Ate up most of the day” he shrugs in a ‘what can you do’ sort of way. Izuku then heads toward the TV to help Katsuki, only partially cognizant of the not so whispered “WE?!” someone let out.

Watching those two fix the TV was like watching a reality show.

“Kacchan I’m telling you that doesn’t-” a small zap, and a pointed look from Midoriya “I told you so”.

“I told you so” Bakugou mocks and Midoriya rolls his eyes.

“Look babe, if you’d listen to me for two seconds then-” Bakugou is cut off by his own yelp, and Midoriya looks too smug for his own good.

“Give me the panel” Midoriya requests and Bakugou hands it over without argument but a sour look adorns his face.

Those of Class-3A who are witnessing this are viewing it like a tennis match, nearly breaking their necks from whipping it back and forth to keep up with the banter. “So, are we just gonna ignore the fact that he said ‘babe’?” someone asks, not looking away from the two arguing over a screwdriver. “We’ll come back to it” someone answers in a daze.

_______

“It’s done nerds” Katsuki exclaims proudly, standing up and popping his back from where he’d been hunched over.

“Please, I did most of the work Love” comes Izuku’s amused voice from behind the entertainment center.

Katsuki shoots a look at Izuku that he knows he can’t see, but he senses it anyways and reaches his hand up to flip Katsuki off. Katsuki snorts, but it’s covered up by the gasp that comes out of Iida.

“Midoriya!” Iida starts his lecture, chopping his hands so the others know he means business “Using that appendage as a means to insult someone is unseemly behavior for a future Hero”.

Izuku stands up, hands out placatingly in front of him “Sorry Iida, Kacchan was being a little shit so I had to” he smiles innocently. Katsuki barks out a laugh. Iida seems to short-circuit at the language, so they make their escape to the kitchen to get some much-needed dinner since they apparently missed lunch.

After scarfing down their dinner, Mina announced that it was 6:15 and officially game time. Katsuki internally groaned but would put up with this for the sake of being all over Izuku. A totally innocent reason if you ask him. Mina and Kaminari were in charge of picking the games tonight, and that was cause for concern in Katsuki’s mind. The general theme was high school party games like truth or dare and spin the bottle. Katsuki knew this was bound to get out of hand, but one glance at Izuku bouncing on the balls of his feet in excitement was enough for him to be moderately enthusiastic.

Mina declared that the first game would be spin the bottle, just to get the party mood going. There was no alcohol since they were about to be Heroes and would never be caught dead with it, but there were copious amounts of energy drinks being consumed. The room felt like it was literally buzzing.

“Okay!” Mina clapped her hands together “Gather round everyone, sit in a circle please my pretties”.

Everyone sits down in a vaguely circular shape, with Katsuki plopping down next to Izuku, sighing softly in satisfaction as he leans into his side. Mina produces a bottle from who knows where and sets it in the middle of the circle.

“Before we start, if there’s anyone who doesn’t want to participate in tonight’s games it’s okay” she smiles softly “I know they’re a lot tonight. You guys can rejoin us for the movie later if you want, I’ll text the group chat when we’re finished!” A few people get up from the circle, relieved looks on their faces, and move to the couch. Content to just watch the festivities rather than participate.

That leaves Katsuki, Izuku, Mina, Kaminari, Kirishima, Sero, Uraraka, Todoroki, Yaomomo, Jirou, and surprisingly Iida, claiming it’s “to keep you heathens in line” but the blush on his face tells a different story.

Mina went first, spinning the bottle so violently it moved several inches from its original spot “oops” she giggled. The bottle finally stopped its vertigo-inducing spinning, landing on Momo.

“Ah Momo! C’mere” Mina puckers her lips in a dramatic way but ultimately plants a soft kiss on her cheek. Leaning back Mina winks and blows her a kiss, making Momo giggle at her antics.

The person next to Mina is Kirishima, and his spin is just as wild as Mina’s if not more. Katsuki thought he was gonna break the damn bottle. The opening of the bottle lands on Kaminari, who startles, looking at the bottle, then Kirishima, then back at the bottle in rapid succession. Kirishima flushes red and crosses the circle, and before Kaminari has time to blink he’s planted a quick peck on his lips and returned to his seat. Kaminari turns bright pink and hides his face behind his hands, embarrassed.

Iida is next up, and with a slight adjustment to his glasses, he precisely spins the bottle. To everyone's surprise, it lands on Mina, and Iida turns rosy but looks firm in his resolve to go across the circle and kiss her. When he gets in front of her face, looking like he was aiming for a peck on the lips, it’s to no one's surprise that Mina takes control. The class gets whiplash from the next series of events where she doesn’t redirect his lips to her cheek but instead plants both of her hands on either side of his face and draws him in for a proper kiss. Lips smashing together hard. When Iida pulls away it’s with a slight smack, flustered, he coughs and walks back over to his seat, readjusting his glasses once more. Mina just looks smug, like the cat that ate the canary.

The whole class is floored by that display, and Katsuki can’t help but feel offended that they stole his future thunder. Iida silently passes the bottle to Todoroki, who just barely spins it, the spinning stopping on Sero. A small smile passes Todoroki’s lips as he leans over and caresses Sero’s cheek, bringing him in to seal their lips shut in a tender kiss. Damn, who knew Icy-Hot was smooth like that. Todoroki pulls back gently and with a straight face passes the bottle to Katsuki.

Finally, it’s his fucking turn. He spins the bottle hoping that it lands on Izuku. Unfortunately, luck is not on his side today, since the bottle is pointing straight at Jirou. She looked shocked, and it would’ve made him laugh if he wasn’t so pissed off that it wasn’t Izuku. He tolerates Jirou, he thinks, as he moves to get up and cross the circle, so it’s not like this is torture. He plants his lips quickly on her cheek and goes back to sit down.

He looks over to Izuku and sees a stormy expression on his face, this nerd, Katsuki thinks as he grins “jealous?” he asks slyly. “Wha- no” Izuku denies, and then he leans into Katsuki’s ear, whispering something only meant for him “because I know I’m the only one who actually has you in every way”, Izuku leans back into the circle, the picture of innocence. The little minx.

Very quickly after Katsuki’s turn does the game of kissing get boring. It slowly turns into a mashup of spin the bottle meets truth or dare. A mixture of yells can be heard as the game gets more interesting, well at least for a group of 17 and 18-year-olds, some of whom aren’t all that mature yet. The bottle was swiftly abandoned in favor of wildly pointing out your next victim, and it was clear, there was an underlying agenda.

“Ochako truth or dare?” asks Mina, a huge grin on her face.

Uraraka hums “I think I’ll go with truth” she says hesitantly, Mina nods and thinks for a second, head tilted at her in an assessing manner.

“Okay” she says after deliberating “what’s your biggest fear?” she asks Uraraka conspiratorially.

Uraraka rubs her arms nervously and takes a deep breath in “Well-” everyone leans in, a collective breath being held in anticipation for what she might say. Failure? Obscurity? Death? All common fears for the Hero profession.

“I’m just terrified of open water” she blurts out “like, imagine you’re in open water and you can’t see the bottom so you have no idea what’s underneath you! It could be a shark or a giant squid waiting to drag you under and you’d never see it coming because you’re just floating in an abyss that never ends!” she's shaking her head, arms flailing as she breathes heavily.

The others in the circle nod and agree with her that they didn’t like the sound of that either but she recovers from her rant and goes to choose the next victim of the game.

“Izuku” she says sweetly “truth or dare?”.

Izuku gulps, suddenly feeling like a prey animal “Uh, dare?” he says, feeling like that was the safest option.

Uraraka just smiles like it was part of the plan “I dare you to tell someone in the group something that they don’t know about you”.

Izuku shrugs lightly, picking Momo as his recipient for the secret. He leans over to Momo’s ear and speaks lowly so that no one can overhear his following words but her “Kacchan and I have been dating since our second year, and we’ve gotten hot and heavy on almost every surface in the dorms ” he finishes mischievously, pulling away from her.

Momo’s eyes nearly bug out of her head and she whips her head around to stare at Izuku, her face flushed red. The rest of the class can only wonder what Midoriya said to make her react like that, but Katsuki has a pretty good idea, he rolls his eyes, what a tease.

Izuku moves back to his spot looking pretty smug, and Katsuki gazes at him fondness in his eyes, he shakes his head with a light laugh. “Think you’re pretty clever huh nerd” he says playfully.

Izuku just bats his eyes innocently “I haven’t the faintest idea of what you’re talking about Kacchan” he grins back.

Momo stares at the interaction, mouth agape like all of life’s questions have been answered in that singular interaction. Uraraka snaps her head back and forth between the partially secret couple and Momo, a pensive look on her face. With that bizarre interaction over, it’s now Izuku’s turn to pick his prey. He surveys the circle, a gaze so calculating that several people audibly gulp. He settles on Todoroki, whose flat expression never so much as flinches.

“Shoto” Izuku begins “truth or dare” and Todoroki barely lets him finish the sentence before he’s saying “Truth”.

Izuku blinks in surprise, but recovers quickly “Uh, okay, what’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done?” he asks, genuinely interested to hear an answer from the stoic boy.

Todoroki thinks for a moment, then says “Once during first year when I was still learning how to control my fire, I thought I could use it to boil instant ramen in my room instead of coming to the kitchen. But I forgot to put water in the cup and it set the whole thing on fire. The alarms went off and everyone had to be evacuated. Sorry about that” he finishes his story.

“THAT WAS YOU???” several people yell out.

“DUDE I was in a towel during that whole thing are you kidding??”

“I had shampoo in my hair and everything!!”

“Bro it was snowing that night too…” several voices overlap each other and Todoroki looks mildly confused at everyone’s outbursts.

“I’m sorry everyone, I truly didn’t realize I’d caused such a ruckus, I’ve gotten much better at control since then” he says sincerely.

Everyone looks at him with empathy, and Mina clicks her tongue “It’s okay sweetie, we accept your apology” the class nods. With that, the game picks back up once again and Todoroki seems to have his sights set straight on Katsuki. Great.

“Bakugou” he wastes no time “truth or dare”.

Katsuki clicks his tongue “Tch dare, I ain’t no wimp”.

Todoroki, the little schemer, looks Katsuki straight in the eyes and says “I dare you to kiss Midoriya” there are a few small gasps but the added “on the lips” builds on the dramatic air in the room. Katsuki is internally celebrating, this is his chance to prove to these extras that Izuku is his. Outwardly he shows no reaction, he just grabs Izuku and pulls him into his lap, holding his hips tightly so Izuku straddles his waist.

“Kacchan” Izuku laughs “this is a bit much don’t you think?” he says, no indication that he actually cares all that much about the manhandling.

Katsuki looks at his beautiful Izuku, light haloed around his head “nah, it’s almost not enough” he says a bit breathless.

He slots their lips together. Izuku’s lips are slightly chapped from where he’d bitten them throughout the day but Katsuki doesn’t care. His lips are warm, slick with saliva, and so incredibly inviting to Katsuki that he slips his tongue in, which elicits a small moan from Izuku. It’s only then that they remember they have an audience because the jeers and Iida’s stuttering speech on decorum manages to break through whatever haze they’ve created.

They both pull away, one more reluctant than the other. Katsuki would’ve kept going but Izuku isn’t that much of a voyeur. Izuku goes to crawl off Katsuki’s lap but he grabs him and holds him in place, instead turning him around so he’s now facing the rest of the group, whose slack-jawed faces haven’t moved.

“Something you wanna tell us Izuku?” Uraraka asks, arms crossed against her chest.

“I mean personally, I think it’s pretty obvious at this point, right Kacchan?” Izuku says nonchalantly, resting his back against Katsuki’s front. “Yeah if you dumbasses haven’t figured it out after that spectacular show then your observational skills are shit” Katsuki gruffs in agreement.

Todoroki, who’d been suspiciously quiet, pipes up at this point “They’ve been together since second year. Did you guys not know?”.

“OBVIOUSLY NOT”

“UH NO”

“SECOND YEAR?”

“HOW DID WE NOT SEE THIS” scream the overwhelmed voices of their classmates.

“Thank goodness I don’t have to keep anything secret anymore” Momo says, hand over chest in a dramatic manner.

Izuku laughs “You didn’t need to do that anyways Momo, it wasn’t all that secret” he looks at Katsuki, clear affection in his eyes. Katsuki kisses his nose and Izuku scrunches his face. “Alright babe, that’s enough socialization for me for one night” Katsuki says moving to get up off the floor and take Izuku with him.

“Wait” Mina cries “what about the movie night??”.

Izuku and Katsuki look at each other, reading the other's mind “Sorry, but we already have plans” Izuku says rubbing the back of his head “But you guys have fun!”. With that, they get into the elevator and they’re gone.

Class 3-A stares at each other in pure silence for a solid 3 minutes after Bakugou and Midoriya leave.

Uraraka is the first to break the static “I knew it” she says quietly.

Several heads turn to look at her.

“WHAT? How on Earth did you know?” Mina asks her, dumbfounded.

“Well, I didn’t actually know until today when they started being all touchy-feely with each other, but I still knew” she finishes smugly.

Kirishima speaks next “I think I also knew, I saw Bakugou this morning and he said he was coming from Midoriya’s room because he slept there. I thought it was a childhood friend thing at first but… it’s clearly not” he laughs light-heartedly.

Then Kaminari gives his piece of the puzzle “Yeah I saw Midoriya in Bakugou’s room earlier, looked like they had just gotten out of bed”.

Yaomomo blushes but says “and Midoriya told me a very… improper secret earlier about him and Bakugou”.

“So, let me get this straight” Mina begins pinching the bridge of her nose “everyone was piecing this together EXCEPT for me?? How is that fair???” she whines to no one in particular.

One of the silent spectators who hadn’t been playing the games speaks up and asks quietly “Are we forgetting that Bakugou openly called Midoriya ‘babe’ earlier?”.

No one answers.

Finally settled back into Katsuki’s room he says “I feel like all we’ve done today is lay in bed”.

Izuku just shoves him playfully “That’s what lazy weekends are all about Kacchan”, he rests his head on Katsuki’s shoulder “besides, we deserve it. We’ve been running ourselves ragged lately” he finishes softly.

Katsuki glances down at Izuku’s face, looking at the slight bags under his eyes that even many hours of catch-up sleep have yet to fix. “Tch, maybe you have, I’m perfect as alwa-” he just barely manages to dodge the elbow Izuku throws at him.

“Okay, nerd, jeez, settle down” Katsuki chuckles.

“I’m assuming we’re watching the regular?” he asks, already knowing the answer and reaching around Izuku to grab his laptop.

“Duh Kacchan” Izuku says, rolling his eyes. He boots up his laptop, selecting the same old RomCom movie that they’ve watched a million times but will always love.

“If the extras ever found out I like this movie I’d kill them and then myself” Katsuki says half joking.

Izuku huffs out a laugh at the routine words “Kacchan it’s just 27 Dresses, who doesn’t love this movie?”. Katsuki just hums and kisses Izuku’s cheek, wrapping his arms around him he pulls Izuku back to settle into a more comfortable position.

Halfway through the movie they both know by heart, Izuku is dozing against Katsuki’s chest, and Katsuki wishes that every day could be like this. Wishes that he knew exactly what the future would hold because he wants Izuku to be pillowed on his chest, safe and sound every single night for the rest of their lives. But tomorrow is a new day, an uncertain day, and one where they will continue on their journey to become heroes.

Before he succumbs to sleep himself he turns to Izuku, his emerald green hair tickling his nose, and softly says “that beautiful smile will always stay on your face Izuku, no matter what”. It’s a whispered promise, sworn in the solitude of the night.
