Chapter Text
She wasn’t calling her to have sex with her. She was calling her so they could have a drink together, if anything else happened that would just be a coincidence. These were the words Choi Su Yeon kept repeating to herself as her finger hovered over the call icon on her phone.
She had had a horrible week with a very complicated divorce case and was looking for any sort of distraction. As a relatively new attorney, she still struggled to keep her distance from her clients and that meant emotional exhaustion that could potentially be put at some ease by going over to someone’s apartment and having… a drink, just one.
Before she could make a conscious decision, her finger slipped and the call was in progress.
Her phone rang three times before she heard a familiar voice answer. “Hello?”
“Ah, hello. It’s me Choi Su Yeon” Su Yeon answered, unexpectantly fumbling with her words.
“Oh, the Angel. What’s up?” Ra Mi’s voice was cheery as always which made Su Yeon smile unconsciously.
“Nothing much, I was just wondering if you wanted to go out for a drink.” She flinched instinctively after saying that, almost bracing herself for rejection.
“Oh, I’m busy right now, sorry,” Su Yeon felt something in her stomach drop and then rise again as Ra Mi continued. “but we could go tomorrow. Or we could meet at my apartment in two hours and have a drink there.” Su Yeon smiled more widely to herself, embarrassed to admit she found that idea more interesting.
Still, she didn’t wish to seem too desperate, so she pretended to think about it before saying “Well, I suppose I could stay here a little longer and get some work done. Let’s meet at your place”
“Got it. I’ll see you there.”
Ra Mi hung up, leaving Su Yeon alone in her office with her phone still over her ear.
Su Yeon felt a sudden rush of panic as she looked back at what had just happened. Suddenly the whole thing seemed ridiculous, what were they even going to talk about? As far as she could think at the moment, they didn’t even have anything in common. Ra Mi was sure to know exactly what was going on, she had to.
Except… nothing was going on, Su Yeon repeated to herself. They were simply meeting for drinks. Yes, just that.
Feeling less anxious, she thought it would just be polite to freshen herself up a bit before meeting Ra Mi. Su Yeon stood up from her desk and roamed around her office for a clean set of clothes (this proved to be rather difficult as her office resembled a cave more and more every day), she got changed and touched up her makeup.
She started to feel more relaxed as she drove to the store to buy some wine.
With two bottles at the back of her car, she made her way to Ra Mi's apartment building. She was early, some 20 minutes or so, so she decided to park around the corner and wait.
As much as she was trying to not think about it, Su Yeon couldn’t help it. It had happened last Monday, Young Woo had just managed to close her first case as an official Hanbada attorney and Su Yeon had insisted that they should celebrate. She invited Jun Ho and then he invited both Min Wo and Attorney Jung. Young Woo had wanted to visit Ra Mi and Hairy at their restaurant and so they went. It was all very fun, as usual on Monday nights the place had been empty and so Ra Mi had joined their party. After dinner, Attorney Jung left, one bottle of soju later Min Wo did and when they had gone over three Young Woo and Jun Ho did. The thing was, none of them really drank so it had actually been three bottles of soju just between Ra Mi and Su Yeon.
Hairy left at some point around one in the morning and they were left alone. She couldn't remember what they were talking about but at some point Su Yeon said. "I'm tired"
Ra Mi sighed, her head laid on the table, and said. “Go home then. I can call you a taxi.” Su Yeon shook her head.
“No, I don’t mean it like that. I mean I am tired of life, you know? Or maybe I just feel lonely.”
Ra Mi didn't say anything for a while, Su Yeon even thought she might have fallen asleep on the table but then suddenly she said. “Me too…don’t you go on blind dates though?” Su Yeon laughed before saying. “Yeah, and they went great. I almost got scammed.”
“How?”
“I met a guy at the club and went home with him. Seemed decent afterward, turned out he had a thing for single workaholics.” Ra Mi snorted and lifted her head off the table to look at her and ask.
"Was it good at least?"
"It?"
” Didn’t you say you went home with him?”
” Oh, the sex you mean?”
” Yes.” Replied Ra Mi.
Su Yeon thought about it before answering. She couldn't have imagined herself talking about this with Ra Mi ever, but for some reason, it didn't feel awkward at all.
” Alright I guess, I have a hard time relaxing so it’s never really great.”
Ra Mi frowned before saying “What?”
Su Yeon shrugged but said nothing. The two were silent for a while, pouring each other drinks from a fourth bottle, and then Ra Mi said.
“I bet I could make you relax.” Su Yeon laughed, but Ra Mi didn’t. It seemed like she was being serious and that didn’t bother her at all, in fact…
“Do you now?”
"Yes"
“You said you lived upstairs right?”
And the rest had been great. Really great.
Snapping herself back into reality, Su Yeon checked the little clock on the cockpit of her car. At five to eleven she figured it was right to get out of the car and start making her way to Ra Mi's apartment. It was a tricky task, Hairy's restaurant was in the same building and she would very much like to avoid running into him. However, (as she had learned on Tuesday morning) there was a back entrance, specifically for people who lived in the building, so unless he was taking the trash out or something, she shouldn't bump into him.
When she reached the buzzers, she realized she had no idea what apartment number she should press. Grabbing her phone from her handbag to call Ra Mi she saw a text message on the screen.
Hello, it's me. My apartment number is 303. YW loves it.
Putting her phone back inside her bag she pressed the button, the door opened quickly and Su Yeon made her way up the stairs and knocked on the door with a silver 303 attached to it. Ra Mi was quick to open the door and greet her with a smile.
“Well, hello there”
“Hi” Su Yeon’s voice came out on a higher note than it usually did.
Ra Mi was quick to take her coat as Su Yeon removed her shoes. “How was work?”
“It was alright, I finished a divorce case yesterday. Quite messy but they all are so nothing new there.”
“Interesting.” And she did sound interested. Su Yeon felt her heart skip a beat.
“How about you?”
“Well, nothing much, just dishes and food like always.”
“Hm”
Silence, but not awkward at all. The two of them made their way to Ra Mi’s dining/living room and sat on the floor. Ra Mi was the first to speak again. “Did you have dinner?”
“I had some tea”
Ra Mi smiled before saying. “Oh, come on that’s not dinner. I’ll make something, just tell me what you want”
Su Yeon was a little taken aback by that. No one, other than her mother, had ever offered to cook her dinner. Fighting a blush, she replied.
“Uhm, how about something I can help with?”
“Alright, what do you know how to make?
She didn’t know how to cook many things. All she knew how to make was kimbap and ramyeon. She looked at Ra Mi apologetically.
“Not much, but I can follow instructions.”
Ra Mi smiled again, walked to her fridge, and opened it.
“Got it…how about some beef stew? I have some meat I bought yesterday.”
Su Yeon nodded. “Sure”
And so, they got to it. It turned out they didn’t need to have that much in common to keep a conversation going. Ra Mi was effortlessly funny and Su Yeon was great at following other people’s lead. Anyone walking in on them would probably think they had been friends for a long while. Once the food was ready and the rice cooker opened the two sat down to eat as they went over high school anecdotes. Su Yeon was laughing loudly at one story in particular as Ra Mi said. “It’s hilarious to think about it now, but I got into so much trouble”
Su Yeon replied sincerely. “I would kill to have seen that.” Ra Mi smiled and had some more rice.
“How about you?” She said a little while after.
“Me?”
“Yeah. Were you also a goody-goody in school?”
Su Yeon looked away embarrassed before speaking. “Boring I know.”
Ra Mi shook her head rapidly. “No, no it's ok, I mean it got you into university.”
“I guess it did. Did you apply to any?”
“No. I think I always sort of knew that wasn’t for me. Young Woo offered to tutor me once, but it didn’t go very well.”
“I can imagine that.”
They both laughed.
“I still don’t regret it though. I have met lots of cool people and had great jobs along the way.”
“That’s nice. I sometimes wish I had taken a year off; you know before going to grad school.”
“What would you have liked to do?”
That was a great question, Su Yeon had spent so much of her life focused on school, then university, then getting into law school that she didn't know what she would like to do with her free time, but she guessed a holiday would have been nice.
“I don’t know, maybe just go on a long holiday to Jeju island to relax.”
“You do seem to have a hard time doing that.”
Su Yeon smirked and asked playfully.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
Ra Mi’s smiled widened as she answered. “Well just that you seem like a tense person. It’s not necessarily a bad thing…I think. “
“I’ll take your word for it.”
Ra Mi looked away and sighed before saying. “Anyway, we were supposed to drink and I haven’t sipped alcohol.”
“Oh right. I bought some wine but I don’t know. Maybe it doesn’t go well with our dinner.”
“Oh, don’t worry, it will go just fine.”
They clinked their glasses together. The first glass went down easily, the second had them laughing a little bit more loudly and by the third Ra Mi was already on top of her. To be honest they weren’t drunk, tipsy perhaps. Still, she felt the need to ask. “Wait, are you sure you want to do this?” Rami’s head came up from under her neck as her kissing stopped.
“What?” She said, her lips looking a little swollen and her expression dazed.
Su Yeon ignored the feeling in her stomach at the sight and cleared her throat to ask again. “Do you want us to do this again? Sleep together I mean.”
Ra Mi looked away as if contemplating but replied promptly. “Oh, yeah, I mean if you want to of course”
“I do”
“Great then.”
Su Yeon let a sound escape her as she felt Rami's lips going back to kissing her neck. Everything about it felt so right but she couldn’t quite put her finger on the reason why. Starting to feel stuffy, Su Yeon grabbed onto the edge of Ra Mi’s shirt to remove it, in the hope that she would return the favor. Almost as if she had been waiting for that cue, Ra Mi started unbuttoning her dress shirt. It was a tricky one and she was surprised to see the other girl skillfully remove it. Ra Mi was quick to take her mouth down to all the pieces of newly exposed skin. It was crazy how intuitive they were with each other.
It wasn’t like they didn’t communicate, more just that for some reason, Su Yeon felt incredibly comfortable with telling Ra Mi exactly what she wanted and how she wanted it and Ra Mi seemed to feel the same way.
“Faster.” She heard Ra Mi whisper into her ear she moved her finger in and out of her. She had already managed to make her come twice, once by placing her thigh in just the right spot and then by using her mouth, nevertheless, she was reveling in the possibility of doing so again. As she increased her speed, she felt Ra Mi's body begin to move more erratically as she finally toppled over the edge biting her lip and pulling her closer using both hands to drag her by the waist.
As tired as Su Yeon knew she must be, Ra Mi waited no time to flip them over. Her mouth trailed kisses down her body and then placed a soft kiss on her inner thigh. Su Yeon moaned loudly and felt the heat gathering between her legs rise and beg for any sort of contact. She didn’t even have to voice this need, Ra Mi’s fingers started working her and Su Yeon felt herself getting close. At that moment Su Yeon was sure that was most definitely not the last time this would be happening.
