Kadoya Tsukasa runs away. This is a foregone conclusion, part of his story even in this other World. Hikari’s words shook something inside of him, and now all he knows is that he needs to get away, be completely alone.
He almost asks Yuusuke to come with him, but he doesn’t. He leaves with nothing, just his clothes, a jacket, and his camera. He doesn’t care , and he doesn’t even know why he’s so afraid. No one could possibly hurt him , surely he should just tell Yuusuke, tighten security, find the attempted murderer.
But he can’t.
It’s not even that he leaves immediately. He stews in it. And then Yuusuke tells him the news. Natsumi woke up. She woke up manic crying his name over and over. “Tsukasa!” But he shouldn’t go near her. Clearly, she needs help. He wouldn’t help her, he’s clearly the problem.
(Not that Yuusuke says it as such. It’s all the implications, and Tsukasa hates himself enough that he does exactly as desired.)
It haunted his nightmares. The image of Natsumi crying out for him. Needing him? Except that’s not right, because the only person who needs him is Yuusuke, so he can help people. Yuusuke would be helpless without Tsukasa. But Tsukasa would be even more helpless without Yuusuke. Tsukasa can’t make good decisions on his own, after all.
Running away isn’t a good decision either, of course. If he really wanted to, he could go to the hospital across the world where Natsumi is being treated, see the way her weak-from-the-coma form flails as she tries to shove the doctors off her, calling out for him. But he can’t help her like that.
He just… he needs to think.
So he runs away.
Onodera Yuusuke is angry. Tsukasa left him. He’s out there, probably starving and desperate, but he still hasn’t come back. There’s a call for him, a reward for finding whoever “kidnapped” the Great Leader, but Yuusuke knows. He’s seen the ideas twisting in Tsukasa’s mind. He should have made Tsukasa recover for longer, keep him alone but in pain and most importantly needy.
He didn’t. He let Tsukasa try and move on. He figured he could let his pet reach the carrot for a moment. And it kept Tsukasa busy, kept him from thinking.
He messed up the balance. And now Tsukasa is gone. He will punish Tsukasa, when he gets back. But first, he had to find him.
And on top of that, Natsumi’s woken up, and even drugged out of her mind at the research facility he’d sent her to in the guise of a hospital (It’s both, so no one will question him), she’s trying to get out. It should be no problem to contain her, but things are getting out of control. And Yuusuke hates it.
