At a part in the Localhost HQ dorm room labeled Catboy's Only, lived four very… identical cat boys. Git, a red haired boy with a small mischievous side. Github, a dark haired boy who was too meticulously for his own good. Gitlab and Gitea, two boys who chose to room together and never leave.
Git's birthday was coming up, so Github was determined to bake cupcakes for his identical-self. The only problem was, he was horrible at baking. What catboy is good at baking?
He sighed to himself as he carefully walked to their shared kitchen with the whole dorm. He did a quick scan of the cabinets for ingredients and realized: the catboys had no groceries.
Github felt that using a little of the other men's ingredients shouldn't be too big of an issue. He was wrong. Three hours later and all of Terminals flour and cocoa was gone. Most of it was thrown around the area, some of it managed to make a few mixing bowls that housed failed cupcake concoctions.
He had enough ingredients left to try once more, and once more he did. Water. Two Eggs. Flour. Cocoa. Baking soda. Baking powder.. it's the same as the baking soda right? Vanilla extract. And finally, some salt.
Luckily for him everything made it to the bowl this time, and the mixture resembled cupcakes in a liquid form. Satisfied enough, he borrowed a pan from CSS and quickly began to pour and pop those bad boys into the oven.
Wiping his hand on his forehead at a job well done, unknowingly wiping some missed cupcake batter to his forehead. Github went to set the timer for the cupcakes so he could work on the frosting, hanging his head when he realized he never turned the oven on.
He crumbled to the floor like a dejected balloon, expending one of his tentacles to preheat the oven. Once that was done, he pulled his tentacle closer to him - and in good Github fashion managed to fling some of the missed flour on the counter directly onto his hair.
His hair was much more gray now than being black. He tried to shake some out, but anyone could see the mess. He finally lifted himself up from the floor and decided to work on the frosting, it was an hour away until Git's birthday and he would be damned if he didn't wish him birthday first.
Preparing the frosting was much easier for Github, unfortunately he ended up eating the first batch completely. Nevertheless, it was finished just in time for the timer on the oven to go off. He pulled them out of the oven, sans oven mitt, and threw them immediately upon touching them.
"Hot. Hot. Hot." He kept repeating as he ran his fingers under the water to soothe the searing pain. Upon hearing the clattering and commotion going on, two men entered the room. CSS and Terminal stood with their mouths gaping at the mess in the kitchen.
"Github! What on earth did you do here?" Terminal scolded as he grabbed a towel to quickly pick up the pan which held one singular cupcake still in it, and gather up the ejected ones.
"I-I can pay you back!" Github quickly replied.
Terminal scoffed with a laugh, "Even if you didn't I would take it out of your account." He placed the cupcakes on the counter and took a look at Github's very small burn on the tip of his finger.
"Are these for Git's birthday?" CSS piped up.
Before Github could reply, HTML sat up on the nearby couch. "He's been here all night making noise. Please make him stop."
"Ahh!" Github screamed out, "W-when did you get in here?!"
"I was here before you," He glared.
"Okay, okay." CSS said to mitigate, "HTML, you have your own room. You don't need to sleep in the commons."
HTML shrugged and laid back down on the couch. Github was still freaked out ans how he managed to stay so silent throughout the night. "Let's just frost this cupcake and HTML can be nice enough to give you a walk back to Git's room while he goes to his. CSS and I can clean up the mess and figure out how much you owe everyone."
Guthub smiled at the kind gesture, but didn't fully escape the glare from CSS. "Or just buy your own groceries you thieving cats." He mostly joked.
Not long after they joined, the single cupcake survived what the dorm calls "Catboy-Cake-Gate" and HTML walked Github back to Git's room.
Knocking once, and luckily the door opening before HTML lost interest, he pushed Github in with a simple, "I believe this belongs to you," before leaving.
Git stares at the disheveled Github holding a single cupcake with a candle in it. "H-happy birthday Git!" Github beamed.
The shocked look quickly vanished from the redheaded catboy's face as he moved closer to Git. Github's heart started to pound in his chest, face growing uncomfortably red. Before he knew it, Git had gotten some frosting on his finger and held it up to Github's lips. He smirked as he pushed his finger into his mouth and forced Github to eat some of the frosting, "I suppose this is mine. What do you say, 'hubie?"
