Chapter Text
As Ezra took a step forward from the portal he just came through, he noticed the weird kind of footsteps his feet left behind on the black way in this place. He still couldn’t believe that something like this was hidden in the temple on lothal for all the years. A passageway through time and space would sound like a silly joke he would make, but this isn’t a joke.
“I-I can’t believe it… This is everything.. The whole lineage of time itself…”
He started making his way down the pathway and looked inside every portal he walked past. Most of the scenes and the people in them, he couldn’t recognize. They were different planets, different faces, different sceneries, just everything! In one he saw a lightsaber wielding Jedi attack another one. They both had diffrent coloured sabers, the one in red and the other in blue. The surrounding was red and there was fire everywhere. Ezra wasn’t able to make out what they were saying but the yellow eyes from the one Jedi- no Sith made it clear that this was a battle to death. Ezra continued his way and saw many different people in the portals. Many of them were either hurt or lying dead on the ground with not a trace of life in them.
Ezra couldn’t continue watching and started to walk faster, searching for a portal or anything to give him a clue what exactly he was supposed to do.
With every step he took he saw more and more portals with more corpses and more death. Until he found one that was just way to familiar to him. It was Kanan, and his last breathing moment, while saving him and the others. Ezra stopped immediately and held his breath for a moment. Was- this the reason he went here for? Was he supposed to save Kanan’s life? Is that what the Wolf tried to tell him?
Ezra went up to the portal and looked inside, he saw Kanan and the heart in his chest hurt. The scene played out just like it had before in Ezra’s nightmares. The flame and the heat still felt as hot as in the moment he first felt them. Without noticing it, Ezra’s eyes started to water and tears were beginning to slowly go down his cheeks. But he couldn’t look away. It hurt to see it play out before him again. But he knew deep in his heart that he couldn’t save Kanan without hurting himself or the others… That didn’t make it easier to see it. Ezra had his hand stretched out and got closer to the portal. But he couldn’t save him. Kanan knew he was gonna die and it was his sacrifice. He knew it was coming eventually.
While holding back his tears Ezra quickly turned away from the scene, he knew that if he watched it any longer he would change his decision and he couldn’t allow that! He started to count from 1 to 10 in an effort to keep himself calm and collect himself. When he took the first step to go back the way he came from the ground suddenly gave away. His feet were stuck in the ground getting sucked inside of it like he was on quicksand. “Ezra Bridger” , said an old man’s voice. Ezra straightened up and looked around. There was no one here but how- “You have come at last to fulfil your destiny”
What? The portal were Kanan was only moments before started to darken and there was a blue fire lighting it up. There was an old man sitting near it, in dark robes laughing hysterically. Ezra recognized this man…
“It is not nice to let people waiting, but now you are finally here in my grasp”
While the man said that the ground Ezra’s feet started to sink faster. His legs up to his knees were already sunken in. The man held out his hand from the portal and reached through it trying to grasp Ezra.
Ezra struggled as hard as he could against the sand but it was no use. He just sunk even more.
Suddenly a white and green coloured bird showed up that sat on top of one of the portals. It made a high screeching noise and attacked the emperor in flight. That way the sand was gone and Ezra turned to run away as fast as he could. The bird was busy trying to pick out the emperor’s eyes but saw Ezra running and flew after him.
The emperor now started releasing the blue fire that burned near him and sent it their way. Ezra took of running looking for an escape.
The bird was flying in front of him leading him on to the right portal. Or so he hoped.
With every step he took he could feel the fire getting closer not to mention the dark presence of the emperor following him. Ezra started getting tired but noticed the bird having landed on a portal right at the end of the pathway. He took all of his strength and ran as fast as he could. The fire started getting near and Ezra felt it burning at his stormtrooper disguise. But just before the fire got hin he jumped through. The bird following him close by.
