Chapter Text

It was a regular night. Tighnari, Cyno, and Kaveh playing TCG and getting somewhat drunk (except Tighnari, he needed to make sure both got home safe) it was a normal night, that is until Kaveh got too drunk and lost his capability to not talk about every single thought he has.

Kaveh giggles. Tighnari and Cyno look over to him, expecting Kaveh to explain what was so funny and he does.

"How funny, do you think it would be." Kaveh cuts off his own sentence to giggle again, "if I died? Just died? Y'know? I think it'll be hilarious!"

"Kaveh?" Tighnari raises his eyebrows in surprise. His and Cyno's faces warp to show their concern.

"Everyone I know would be there and it'd be so funny! Everyone would be so happy and… they'd all be laughing and having a good time!" Kaveh lets out a sad laugh, his eyes getting slightly misty, "Don't you think?"

"No, Kaveh. Nobody would laugh if you died-" Cyno tried talking.

"Then you're lying to me. Nobody likes Kaveh. Nobody should even like Kaveh. Kaveh is a horrible person. He should be better. That's why it'd be so funny. Nobody should like me."

This was getting worrying. Is this how Kaveh really felt?

"Everyone would think it's historical, honestly just think about it. I could just die and nobody would care. The funeral won't even be a funeral, it'll be a celebration! Thank god the architect in debt" 'and father killer' Kaveh quietly adds, "is finally gone! Oh, just imagine the look on Alhaitham's face. That's probably the only day you'll ever see him smile or laugh. You better cherish it!" Kaveh let a few tears slip as he drunkenly rants. Cyno reaches out to take a hand for comfort.

"Kaveh?" Cyno asks, "are…are you okay?"

"Of course I am, it's all great!" Kaveh smiles and laughs. Tighnari suddenly gets up.

"I'm… I'm gonna get Alhaitham. Cyno…"

Already knowing what was being asked of him, he nodded.

"Oh, are you gonna tell Alhaitham? Don't ruin the surprise or else he won't find it as funny!"

Kaveh never got an answer. He put his head down on the table.

"Everything's great." He whispers, his eyes slowly closing. Cyno's worried face being the last thing he sees before he falls asleep.

When Tighnari made it to Alhaitham's house he could see the living room light was on, no doubt it was Alhaitham waiting for Kaveh to come home. He knocks on the door.

"Kaveh did you forget-" Alhaitham's sentence goes unfinished as he realizes it's not Kaveh standing there, "Tighnari?"

"Yeah, Uhm. So Kaveh said some concerning things and I think you should be keeping a close eye on him now." Tighnari says, his voice quiet.

"Kaveh is a grown man, I'm not babysitting him." Alhaitham responded.

"Alhaitham. You don't understand! He- he talked about how funny it would be if he died and he seemed so serious almost as if it was something he was thinking about for months and…" Tighnari's voice wavers at the end. Thinking about Kaveh. Being dead. Doesn't leave a good taste in his mouth. Alhaitham's face contorts into a worried expression.

"Please. Please make sure he's okay and… Try to suggest that he get therapy a few minutes after he wakes up. If he refuses, send him to me and I'll try to get him to actually think about it." Tighnari's eyes are starting to water.

"...I understand." Alhaitham goes back in.

When Cyno carries Kaveh back to Alhaitham's house he knocks. Alhaitham doesn't even ask, he opens the door, grabs Kaveh and leaves.

Cyno only hopes that everything will go well tomorrow.
