Chapter Text
The salty smell of the clear sea, the flare of the sun hitting the boat deck and its occupants, fish of all colours swimming by in tune with the breeze in a beautiful parade
Nén was leaning against the banister on the bow of the ship listening to who she now considered her crew walk around preforming their current tasks( or in faefiel's case kicking back in a barrel of booze while allowing a mage hand to do her work instead)
It had been a long few weeks killing monsters, repairing the ship after said monsters, wandering aimlessly for the most part while they searched for the relic but after hunting and exploring they had finally found it, nén could remember that evening of celebration, everyone getting drunk on the seemingly endless amount of booze, the terrible music being played by the few in her crew who had instruments(she could vividly remember the agonising headache the day after) but along with all that she could remember the feeling of companionship
sitting there booze in hand and her crew surrounding her, these people who came across each other to complete quests but ended up founding a affection for each other none of them had imagined to find
These people were her crew and she couldn't be happier
But on those nights when she went out of the ship cabin onto the main deck get some fresh air, looking into the pearlescent water seeing the moon reflected in its depths she couldn't help the the hand that brought a stone from her pocket, her thump brushing its surface
The way it lit up in the moonlight reminding her of the eyes belonging to the radiant woman she got it from
"Kyra..."she breathed out the name as if it was sacred
Kyra, that beautiful elf
Her beautiful elf
her brownish blonde long hair wrapped around her in a way that made nén long to run her hand through it, her eyes that reminded nén of the most exquisite tanzanite that she was sure would enthral her all over again once she saw them, the long robes that fell over her figure in a way that nén was sure no professional painter nor master storyteller could even dream to capture the enchanting divine aura it emulated
Nén could feel heat spread to her cheeks just thinking about the elf she got to call hers
But she still couldn't help but think back to that day and wonder what she was thinking, they had known each other for only a few hours but when kyra had opened the door to her shop nén could swear she heard bells(even with her crew around her casting make shift candles and making the space smell floral) when she and her crew were about to leave springmoor, seeing kyra standing on the docks and not knowing how long it would be till she could bask in her presence again but then she saw nerium come over to her and hand her a ring "make sure she remembers"they had said with kind eyes but a teasing lilt to their voice
And she did it, she proposed. The happiness and surprise on kyra's face is something she wouldn't forget anytime soon
she hopes that kyra remembers. looking from the stone to the moon that she noticed has moved higher, she wonders if kyra is looking at this same moon and thinking about her the same way nén thinks about her, just thinking about those beautiful eyes gazing at the moon makes her heart swell with longing before-
"nén!"she looks over to where her name was called and saw her co-captain, nerium, standing against the door frame to the cabin with his arms crossed infront of themself looking over at her with a gentle concern "what are you still doing out here? it's cold, we wouldn't want you getting yourself sick especially with how close were are to getting back to the coast" nén smiled at their concern and she made her way over to her "sorry neri"she apologised with a sheepishly"just got lost in my thoughts is all"nerium looked at her a teasing spark in their eyes"thinking about a certain elf waiting for you back at springmoor~"he teased causing her blush to come in full force" I-...perhaps" she looked away causing nerium to laugh "shut it" she says good naturedly, ruffling neriums wool
They both made their way back into the cabin to their crew, some already asleep and some sipping on booze or doing their own things, nerium went over to faefiel most likely to reprimand her for treating the barrel of booze like a bath once again and nén made her way over to her make shift bed and laying down thinking it time to sleep, she wants all her energy when she see's her fiance again
her eyelid drooped falling into peaceful slumber filled with dreams of the future, dreams of her crew and dreams of her fiance, she couldn't wait for what was to come
across the sea by the coast, laid a structure, a shop and a home, in that home, in a comfy bed lit up by the moon through a window laid a elf with eyes of tanzanite gazing down at her hand to the ring that laid on her finger, thinking of the gorgeous women who gave it to her as she longed for her to come back soon
