Chapter Text
She is never going to take this for granted. The morning light’s golden glow reflecting off of Catra’s soft curls, wave after wave of them. The thrumming deep purr of her sleep vibrating against Adora’s skin. She can feel it in her chest, the comforting rhythm of it, knowing it means that Catra is safe and here. The weight of her beloved laying on Adora’s side. It was always going to be worth the tingles of her arm going to sleep or of being stiff when she finally did get to move again. But she had no intention of moving now. Not with the warmth of her tucked in close, claws laying relaxed upon her chest, tail wrapped around one ankle. Her ear twitching slightly to the increasing twitter of songbirds gathering outside of their bedroom window. Nothing in this world could be more comfortable than this bed right now.
Their bed. In the home they share. That they will always share.
Because they have each other now.
It was a long road. They both struggled with traumas upon traumas. They both battled their own issues and found ways to push through and find themselves. And then find their way back to each other. Adora learning to be a little selfish. Catra learning to trust. And both of them are learning to communicate. It will be a lifelong battle, there will always be times they need to take a deep breath and reset. And forgive each other again.
But they have that time. They have each other.
So golden light climbs a little higher and Adora’s stomach growls a little louder, soon enough it will wake her sharp-eared lover laying there, but for now…she just enjoys their time. And while she watches Catra breath, slow and relaxed, Adora knows she will treasure each moment.
They both will.
Together.
