Chapter Text
Luigi woke up when he heard the alarm indicating a new day was starting. He did his usual routine in the house, a bath, breakfast and a little gardening.
It was a beautiful day in the mushroom kingdom and since Bowser hasn't tried to kidnap princess Peach for longer than a month after the last defeat the green plumber found that he had a lot of time to retake old activities like cooking his mama's secret recipes and spend his afternoons playing sports with Mario when his brother wasn't spending time with the princess.
He was really glad about this but if Luigi was totally honest he was becoming a little too comfortable of the routine, not that he would prefer the suffering of the whole mushroom kingdom and certainly he didn't enjoy Mario going to dangerous rescue missions, but a part of him had the feeling that the koopa king was planning something.
He shaked his head trying to forget that last idea of his mind. "Everything is gonna be okay Luigi" he said while making the final arrangements to the garden "If Bowser hasn't tried a thing, maybe he finally gave up on the idea of marrying the princess and is thinking how to sign the alliance treaty. Yeah! That's the reason". With that resolution, Luigi finished with his gardening and decided to go for a walk before It was time for lunch.

Meanwhile in the koopa kingdom.
Bowser was making plans with Kamek but not the kind of plans that involve princess Peach and his kingdom, no, these were plans more important than that. He was planning the best way to introduce the future heir of the Darklands! A pretty important thing to do now that they're kid was one month old, usually the baby koopas eggs take less than a month to hatch, but this was an special case just like Bowser's case was, so it would take almost two months for the hatchling to be ready and they already took one, so it was a good moment to start planning all the royal stuff like presentations to his people and the other kingdoms.
Since nobody knew (except for Kamek and the staff at the castle) about the future kid, this party in they're honor would be a huge deal.
While they were planning, Bowser tried to watch the egg that was beside him in a kind of big basket with lots of pillows and blankets (not that the egg really needs them, but oh well). In the meantime Kamek left to look for something that Bowser really didn't pay attention to. After a while he decided the time spent with his child was enough for the day and it was for the best to let the egg in the safety of his chambers.
"Guard!" Bowser exclaimed and in a moment a koopa troopa appeared in the room.
"Your majesty" the guard leaned to the king waiting for orders.
"Take the heir to my chambers. You better don't move too much the basket" Bowser said without looking up from his papers.
"Yes your highness" said the koopa before taking the basket carefully, he was ready to leave the room or at least that was his intention but suddenly the king's voice stopped his way.
"One last thing" Bowser said looking at the guard with fierce "Don't. For any reason. Touch the egg. Do you understand?" The king koopa said with a really warning tone that made the guard gulp before making an affirmative comment and finally leaving.
Bowser watched the guard leaving with the basket and sigh, he would have been more comfortable if Kamek was the one taking the basket with him. Hell! Even better if he was the one taking his child. But Kamek wasn't there and the pile of papers in his desk definitely won't let him. So he just resigned and continued working.

The guard was halfway to the royal chambers when a group of boos showed up trying to annoy him. The koopa tried to remove them leaving just one second the basket. This second was enough for the boos to take the egg and replace it with a similar thing that was covered in a blanket to simulate. Once they're prank was done they left the koopa who just continued his mission without noticing the very important detail.
The boos didn't really know what they took, they just believed the egg was some kind of special jewel since the koopa kingdom was known for their precious minerals. His surprise was incredible when they discovered the treasure was just something boring like an egg. The disappointment caused them to just throw the egg in the closest pipe they found, now It was someone else's problem.

Luigi's walk was really relaxing and without surprises, he was just passing for the last part of the journey when he almost tripped on a strange rock. That startled the poor plumber who stopped just in time before kicking said rock…
Luigi thought to himself while looking at the 'rock'
"Mamma mia! This is an egg!" He exclaimed aloud and hurriedly took a closer look at the egg. It was bigger than a Yoshi's egg and the colors were different too, this egg was a soft yellow with green and red dots. "It's bellissimo".
Luigi touched the egg carefully and let out a surprised gasp when he felt how warm it was. "Well little egg, what are you doing on this path alone? I better take you with me before you get cold, tomorrow I will find your famiglia, okie dokie?" He told the egg even if he knew they probably wouldn't hear…or understand. Then he took the base of the egg carefully and carried it in the direction of his home.
Little did Luigi know that while he took the egg, in the castle of the Darklands a king was about to destroy everything that came across his way.
