"Are you sure you're okay with this?" The blue hedgehog nervously shifted his weight onto his right leg as he awaited his captain's answer. The captain in question made a humming noise of confirmation.
He was wearing an elegant silk robe, making Sonic feel underdressed as he was only wearing a simple cotton shirt. His captain was truly divine in all ways, including his pajama choice.
The sound of shuffling shook him out of his thoughts, he looked to his captain and swore his heart nearly leapt out of his chest with all of it's erratic beating. His captain was facing him on his bed, the blanket lifted in a silent invitation for him to crawl in. His ears were lax and his face expressed his complete trust and adoration for his first mate.
"O-oh." Sonic said awkwardly before shuffling in the bed alongside his captain. His eyes were so pretty this close. He tentatively reached his arm out to wrap it around his captain, "is this okay?" He was met with a reassuring nod and his captain's hands resting on his chests tufts. He lightly dragged his fingers through the fur, making his firstmate's heart jump all over once again.
"Are you nervous?" It was stated more as a statement than a question, his captain's voice dropping in pitch. He had that smirk on his face that always melted Sonic's heart.
Sonic took a leap of faith and snuggled into his captain's chest fur and mumbled a response. His captain chuckled at the retort and embraced his firstmate completely.
Sonic blushed as he felt the toned arms encircled him. He let out a content sigh and snuggled deeper to take in his captain's soothing scent. It was peculiar, even after all of their weeks at sea, he stilled smelled like lavender.
As they embraced each other he took in everything about his captain. His scent, his breathing, the way he felt. He was truly lucky to be guided by someone as wonderful as Shadow. He was the Moon to his Sun and the Stars to his Sea.
Amidst his sleepy thoughts, Sonic felt a light pressure to his temple and a quiet thank you whispered into his ear as he drifted off into the best sleep he's had in months.
