Weaving in and out of trees and their surrounding greenery, the empty blue was almost in sight. The soft padded thump of my footsteps still accompanied by a few more, they were advancing upon me. They only thought what they were doing was for the greater good, but I needed to know if I was right. I just had to. After all, I deserved answers for the clueless fog they’d kept covering me like a veil for seventeen years.
My lungs heaved inwards, it really was as beautiful as legends had said. The glistening teal blanket, dusted with misty clouds, and dotted with green. I almost couldn’t believe it. The outer rim of the island was right in front of me.
The trepidation flooded my judgment in seconds, but it was too late to turn back now. The steps behind me became more desperate the closer I got. Their voices probably rose in volume, but the pounding of blood in my ears made it too hard to tell.
Just then the tip of my claws touched the crumbling dip into mystery and I pushed off into the unknown.
