“A man who is not afraid to hold my hand in public and slow dance with me at the prom.
“Lady Hummel is finally going to get his gay prince to live his magical fairyland dreams with.” Santana starts as Karofsky gestures a girly hand move while miming the f slur. Kurt proceeds to ignore their nuisance as he focuses back on filling his soul mate form. It’s the last day of the mess that is McKinley prison and then he can start building his life with someone who understands him far away from this homophobic hellhole. For that his form needs to be perfect. He can’t make any mistakes being distracted by Santana’s rant . This is his only lifeline to finding a perfect future with his soulmate in New York . So he continues to make his perfect person
“a person who is as ambitious as me . A broadway enthusiast . my prince charming ”
As he comes to the end of the form he hears Santana list down her attributes in a perfect man .
“I'll marry an NFL player. They're super reliable. He’ll be able to provide a rich life for auntie Tana . Plus they are much smarter than Puckerman and knows how to look after a lady .”
Though as she says these, Kurt could see her longing sad looks to Brittany. She thinks they are well hidden . Maybe to the other deceptive eyes. But to Kurt they are recognizable . Trying to hide his true emotions to be perceived as strong and aloof is after all a trained skill he possesses. He wonders if she’d ever realize that living in fear and constant fighting through internal struggles for few seconds of acceptance and feeling of normalcy can be a temporary feeling . If she could write her truth in that form . Write down who she truly loves . But Kurt knows it’s never that simple . This town ingrains in them to learn that Ohio is the limit , that highschool clichés are never left behind in the confines of this school but follows us till we reach our grave , to build our whole lives around it . He is one of the few ones to dream of a life more than this town . Him and Rachel . And hence the two biggest targets of the school bullies .Rachel makes her way to his table with her laptop as he makes a final read through of his answers. With a bounce in her legs she asks
“ ready to submit the form ? “
He looks to the form which holds his hope for his future and answers
“as ready as I’ll ever be ”

Shouldn't that be be something that I got to explore on my own was the one thought that drifted through Blaine’s mind as he read those words . However apparently that wasn't something that he got to decide for his life .
With a big sigh he turned back to see the hopeful eyes of Mike working carefully to fill up his soul mate form . Every day it seemed clearer to Blaine that their relationship would last only till their soul mates were assigned to them and seeing Mike excited for this process verified his concerns. A last round of holding on to that comfort that made him believe in love before the government rules break them up wouldn't be a wrong move, Blaine thought .
As he stared at his form not knowing whether to comply with their system or to just live with the consequences that opposing it would expose him to , Mike came beside him with a glee of finishing his work .
" A person with kind heart, strong will that could overcome anything , a great passion for theatre and fashion and a person who appreciates your grand gestures . That's the man you are looking for " Mike said with an assuredness that made Blaine yearn for this boy who knew him so well and who he used to love so much . Not lingering further in those emotions , he wrote down Mike's words and clicked send with a heavy sigh . Seeing it was time to go back home , he packed his bag and started his car after bidding goodbye .
Reaching home the first thing that he saw was his dad's figure being hunched over a book with his glasses perched at the tip of his nose . As he saw Blaine walk past him , he straightened up to call for his attention .
“Have you finished your form . Isn’t the last day for it today “he asked with apprehension, knowing well Blaine’s feelings about the system.
“Yes I did . Both me and Mike sent in the forms just now “.
Seeing the pain in his eyes as he said those words , Blaine’s dad looked at him with an apologetic countenance and said
"I'm sorry "
"I know "
Blaine knew he was sorry. He’s sorry for what his dad had to go through too. But unlike him, Blaine was not going to let this system be his future .
