Chapter Text
I'm sorry, I’ll be late. Please start without me. You smiled as you read the text. Shouto never used acronyms. Always full words, sentences, punctuation by the book. Even after ten years of being together, you found this side of him unbelievably sweet. You continued setting the table. All the sauces and the sides were ready, leaving only the soba noodles to be cooked when the guests arrive.
Don’t worry. Come when you can, we’ll be waiting. The doorbell rang. Fuyumi, who entered the third trimester of her pregnancy, heavily stepped into the room. Keigo held her arm from one side and Natsuo from the other. “Can you believe this?” she said as soon as she saw you. “They are treating me like I’m handicapped.” She glared at her brother and husband. “I’m pregnant, not dead.”
“Yes, yes, whatever you say, love.” Keigo snickered planting a gentle kiss on her forehead. You laughed.
“Snacks and drinks are in the kitchen, help yourselves.”
You joined Fuyumi in the living room while the guys got comfortable in the kitchen. She eased into the armchair with a loud satisfactory groan. “Shota is late?”
“Yes, he texted earlier.”
“This is the problem with dating pro heroes. Something always comes up.”
“We make it work.” You replied and she smirked a little. “Heard you are doing quite well at Fat Gum’s agency. Still haven’t accepted the offer from dad’s agency?”
You shrugged. “I’m happy where I am. Fat Gum is a great hero, plus it’s nice to work with someone who has a similar quirk.”
She thought for a moment. “You mean Suneater?”
You nodded, quickly checking your phone. “Hawks has been taking a lot of time off duty,” you snicker. “How is settling in with his fatherly role?”
Fuyumi smiled and stroked her large belly. “Very well actually. Annoying, but I can’t complain. On the subject, I heard the good news.”
You blinked in confusion. “You and Shouto.”
It took a couple of minutes for her thought to sink in. “Oh, oh. No, this is just a façade for my parents to calm down.”
It was Fuyumi’s turn to look confused. “Last time we had dinner with them, my mom, not so subtly, pointed out that we’ve been together long enough, asking when we are planning to announce the date.” You chuckled. “Poor Shouto, he got so confused. The next day he went out and bought me a ring.”
“Wait, what? He didn’t propose?”
“Of course not, we weren’t even thinking about marriage until my mom brought it up. Now every time I see her, I just wear the ring. She feels better, and we are off the hook.”
Fuyumi looked genuinely confused. Maybe she misunderstood? “I’ll go make the noodles and we can dig in,” you got up, but the blonde wasn’t planning on letting you off easy. She followed closely behind. Keigo and Natsuo were in the middle of a heated conversation when the girls walked in.
“Does Shouto think so too?” she continues.
“Hey, hey, sit down.” Keigo pulled out a chair and sat his wife down.
“Think about what?” Natsuo casually joined the conversation. You rolled your eyes and got on with cooking.
“Apparently their engagement is a scam.”
“Fuyumi!” you groaned. Why did she have to be so persistent on the topic?
“Say what?” now Keigo was all ears.
“Guys, come on please!” a loud groan escaped your lips.
“Are you on a shaky ground?” Natsuo questioned thoughtfully. “Is there something you are not telling us?”
“What? No! Stop it!” You turned around abruptly and put your hands on your hips ready to set them all straight, when Shouto’s calm voice came from the corridor.
“I’m home.”
You looked at Fuyumi, your eyes were both begging and threatening for her not to say a word. She snickered and turned away. Shouto walked into the kitchen, finding the four of your looking around awkwardly.
“What’s going on?”
“Nothing, we were just about to start with the dinner. Natsuo can you take this to the living room, please?” you shoved the large pot with noodles into his hands. “Hawks, kindly escort your love to the table.” You tried to hide your smile when Fuyumi glared at you. As soon as you and Shouto were left alone, he stepped closer.
You wrapped your arms around each other. Beloved, dear smell filled your nostrils. After a couple of soft kisses, you pulled away reluctantly. “You aren’t that late.”
He nodded. “I didn’t want you to worry.”
You smiled cupping his face. Your thumb traced his scar, making Shouto’s heart skip a beat. “I love this side of you.”
“Are you done love birds?” Keigo’s smug face popped in the kitchen.
“The only bird here is you.” You mumbled under your breath and made your way to the living, Shouto followed closely behind.

Shouto walked out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist. Before heading to the bedroom, he peeked into the small study which you shared when needed. You sat at the table, hunched, with one leg on the chair.
Leaning on the doorframe, he watched you in silence. Completely unaware that Shouto was watching, you continued tapping away the report for Fat Gum. Your reading glasses slipped to the tip of your nose, hair was a mess and Shouto’s oversized t-shirt rode up revealing your bare thigh. A heat wave washed over him, fully concentrating at his lower half.
You scratched your thigh showing him more skin. Shouto took slow deep breath. This homey, relaxed look was always the biggest turn on for him. He adored you in your hero costume, he loved you dressed up for social events, but more than anything he loved you this way. The bump under the towel got bigger.
Shouto glanced at the time. Past eleven.
“Oh, hey, all done?” you looked up with a smile. He nodded straightening up. Your eyes caressed his face, slowly moving down to his chest and lower. Quickly saving the work, you took off your glasses and made your way to Shouto. You clung onto him, feeling the increased temperature of his body. It was nice. More than nice. Shouto’s hands landed on your butt cheeks, squeezing slightly. His bulge pressed against you and your body instantly responded.
Shouto kissed the side of your mouth, gently trailing the kisses to your neck. Every moan you granted was a prize.
Your fingers slipped under his towel, causing it to drop at your feet.
“[Y/N], don’t you need to wake up early tomorrow?” he said in between kisses.
“Yeah,” your hand was already on his shaft giving it a light squeeze.
“You should rest.”
His breathing deepened. “We’ll be quick.” You whispered into his ear. It was a lie and you both knew it. Shouto was never good at quickies. Caressing you, extending your pleasure was something he could not deny himself. Every time you looked at him, panting…every time you whispered Shouto, with every moan that escaped your lips, he wanted to do it all over again.
People say that the spark fades with time, maybe they are right.
Shouto wouldn’t know.
Because each day the fire between you flared up with renewed vigour.
That night you didn’t sleep. Shouto kept you awake until four in the morning and at five you left for the agency.

“Are you sure you should be walking around by yourself?” Shouto asked worriedly as he helped Fuyumi settle into a chair at Endeavor's Hero Agency. It was her first pregnancy, and a difficult one at that.
“Don’t you start as well.” She pursed her lips in displeasure.
“I wasn’t going to.” He shrugged. “I’m just worried about you.”
“And I’m worried about you.” Fuyumi retorted. Shouto raised his eyebrow in confusion. Keigo mentioned several times that Fuyumi’s been a little over and above nutty lately, but…
“You and [Y/N] have been together for how long now? Eight, nine years? Don’t you think it’s time to take a step further?”
“I don’t think I understand, Fuyumi.”
She sighed. “Shouto, you know I really care about you, and I want you to be happy.”
“I am happy.” He replied calmly, but Fuyumi ignored him.
“You and [Y/N] have been together for so long, don’t you think that the next logical step is marriage?
“I gave her the ring, [Y/N] accepted it.” still greatly confused, Shouto couldn’t tell where the conversation was going.
Fuyumi’s heavy groan made him worried. “Is it happening?” he took her hand worriedly, but his sister slapped it away.
“Nothing’s happening.” The baby kicked and she hmphed, stroking her belly. Shouto watched her, feeling a wave of tenderness wash over him. “What did you say when you gave her the ring?”
Shouto thought for a moment. “I told her it’s for her.”
“And what did [Y/N] say?”
“She thanked me.”
Suddenly a blonde head popped in the kitchen. The tensed expression on Hawk’ face quickly relaxed when he spotted his wife. “Why do you keep wondering off?”
“Not again,” Fuyumi groaned. Shouto watched their sweet bickering for a little while before quietly leaving them alone. He walked to his desk, there was a lot of work that had to be finished that day but somehow, he could not concentrate. Fuyumi’s words replaced in his mind. Why didn’t [Y/N] wear the ring he got her?
***
You basked in his arms, enjoying the feeling of his strong toned body. The TV was on in the background, but neither of you were paying attention. Your fingertips traced over his nipples, earning a quiet gasp from Shouto. You smiled. His nipples have always been much more sensitive than yours. Sometimes if you played with them too intensely, a flushed Shouto would mumble something before he’d shake with an explosive orgasm. It was insanely exciting.
“This Friday I’ll have to go to Shizuoka.” You said yawning.
“You have an assignment?”
“Yeah. I think you had a similar one at your agency last year. The one when you go to schools, do the talks and in some cases assess the quirks.”
His rough hands stroked your bare belly, making you want to purr in pleasure. “Who is assigned with you?”
“Suneater.” Tamaki Amajiki, your senpai from high school, was one of the people you looked up to the most. During the first year of U.A. you struggled a lot with your quirk, not understanding how to utilise it to the maximum. When you were introduced to The Big Three, you couldn’t believe that someone who shares such seminaries to your quirk exists and the first chance you got, you asked Tamaki to teach you. After mumbling something incoherent, he ran away, but the next day he found you himself.
You smiled at the memory.
“You two share a lot of assignments.” Shouto noted. You yawned.
“Yeah,” you replied sleepily. “But mostly because Tamaki struggles in communication with other heroes.”
Soft rumbling of the TV and Shouto’s warmth started to make you sleepy. You snuggled into his chest and closed your eyes, when Shouto spoke again.
“Why don’t you wear your ring? You don’t like it?”
Your eyes shot open. Fuyumi. You planted a quick kiss on his chest and looked up. “Of course, I like it. it’s beautiful.” Somehow you felt that you needed to be careful with your words.
“Then, why don’t you wear it?”
“I do wear it when we go to my parents house.” you tried to smile, but Shouto’s face looked too deep in thought.
“Do you think…” he started carefully. “Do you think you could wear it all the time?”
You cleared your throat a little. “I suppose I can wear it more often.”
“You don’t want to?” Todoroki Shouto was always extremely thorough. He liked to have a completely clear picture. This side of him you also loved, but not as much when you were trying to get out of something.
“It’s an engagement ring, Shouto.” You replied with a smile. “It will give people ideas. People will talk.”
“It will give them the correct understanding.”
“Well, no…because we aren’t actually engagement.”
His hand stropped stroking your thigh. Shouto cupped your face and gently brought it closer to him. “But [Y/N], we are engaged. You accepted the ring.” He kissed the side of your mouth.
“Yes, but I thought you got it just to calm my mom down. I really appreciate the gesture.” she replied, quickly returning the kiss.
“So, you don’t want to marry me?”
Fuyumi!
“I just never thought about it.” you tried to explain. “We’ve been together for so long…I just think that a ring and piece of paper won’t change anything.”
Shouto nodded. His hands slid down your back. Using the mix of his quirks he rubbed your sensitive skin, earning a soft moan.
“In this case, we can continue as we are.” he concluded. “But with a ring and a piece of paper.” His lips found your neck. “Because they won’t change anything.” Concrete logical thinking.
“Shouto.”
He pulled you in an upright position. “Do you agree?” his eyes bore into you as he waited. You couldn’t concentrate. His long fingers were drawing circles on your lower back, while lips looked so inviting.
“Yeah,” your breath got caught in your throat as his hand slid down between your legs. “Agreed.” You leaned forward connecting your lips. Shouto replied eagerly as you pinched his nipples. He grunted into the kiss and pushed his hips upwards, allowing you to get a good feeling of his desire. “Shouto, let’s go to the bedroom.”
With you in his arms he made his way to the bedroom. You shifted and wiggled igniting your longing. He eased you on the bed and raised himself up on one elbow, making you groan in disapproval.
“Will you wear the ring?” he asked seriously.
“I will.” You wrapped your legs around him.
“And to your assignment as well?” he continued.
“I’ll fuse it with my finger if I have to. Shouto,” you grabbed his face. “Just come here.”
A small smile crossed his features as he eased on top of you, thinking he should thank Fuyumi next time he sees her.
