As it should be

Summary:

Akane was born silently. She was raised with orphans and tired old ladies. And in a world which she had only ever seen from a screen.

Or,
In which nothing is the same as it should be. But at least she isn't the only one confused.

Chapter Text

Akane, she learned after 8 months, was her name. After the matrons had repeatedly called to her with that name, she had grown to realize that she really was a different person now. Well, perhaps not a different person. She had a different identity now.

Before, she was Divya Garg, an ordinary girl from a small city.

Now, she was Akane no-name. Just another orphan from the Kyuubi attack.

She had taken to being a baby quite well. She could cry without being called a crybaby, and sleep whenever she wanted. It was a healthy way of coping, by crying her eyes out and accepting what had happened.

She supposed she was quite lucky. Luckier than some other children who were a part of the other orphanages and would barely get anything to eat. Corruption really was everywhere in Konoha.

"Akane! Don't drop the plate."

She straightened herself up at the warning from one of the ladies, and nodded slightly at her before hurrying over to take a seat and eat her food. The orphanage she was in was much better than some others, from what she had seen and heard. Apparently it was close to the clan compounds which was the reason for its good state. Clans had reputations to uphold after all.

The orphanage also provided books, most of which were from the academy and some others being handed down from some clan members. She read them all as soon as she could read a few words. It was hard to get used to another language but, she tried her best.

She glanced at Suhei, a boy her [physical] age sitting across from her at the table. She could tell that he was either a genius or someone like her. They had both not done anything to act like the other children, so she had a small suspicion that he could be like her as well. She supposed that she was just hopeful for her to not be alone in the mess of the Naruto world. She knew that reincarnation could not that common but, it had happened to her so who's to say it didn't happen to another.

She looked back down to her food, when she was caught staring, in a hurry. He was a bit too weird. It was as though he was-

Was he a ninja in his past life?

No. It was better to not jump to any conclusions when her suspicions had not even been confirmed yet.

She knew she was practically crazy for assuming things about a small boy who simply did not act as though he was like other children. But, she had seen and heard him wake up hysterical from nightmares. She had watched him shrug off cuts and bruises easily as though he was used to them. She had seen him practice katas [She thinks that is what they are called as she recalled the repetitive movements] when no one had ever taught him how.

She would know if he was meeting with someone who was teaching him things, she had known him from when they were both babies after all.

But what if I don't know about him as much as I thought?

She was being paranoid. She knew that yet she couldn't stop herself. Who would be able to when they get dropped in the Naruto world as a no-name orphan? Paranoia was her greatest strength and also her greatest weakness. She had been able to avoid the Kyuubi's onslaught and place herself in front the ninja who were locating the orphans to the orphanage she was currently in because of her paranoia. But, she also knew just how many chances of being noticed by some high ranking people she had avoided because of it.

She regretted not being not being adopted by some random ninja. She also regretted not meeting with the occasional elder of the village that came to visit the orphanage. She supposed that at the time, seeing Minato alive had really placed the fear of nothing being the same as she remembered it to be had been eating her up from the inside.

So, she quietly focused on her own food, placed her head down and obeyed the rules of the game. She would not bother with the child, nor with anyone else.

  1. Don't stand out in the crowd of orphans, or be prepared to be dragged to the roots of the village.
  2. Bend your back for the clans and the reputable people of the village.
  3. Obey the matrons to a certain degree to keep them happy with you.
  4. Consider options other than ninja which keep you seen in the village so that you won't be kidnapped so easily by the roots or by some other threat.
  5. Don't interact with the main characters. Ignore them all.
  6. Never make the main characters hate you.

Notes:

'The orphanage also provided books, most of which were from the academy and some others being handed down from some clan members.' Just to clarify, the clan members who would donate said books would not donate any clan scrolls/books.
