The meeting

A secret could not be kept forever, sooner or later someone would find out. Peter B. Parker had not considered this little detail until he had to face his reality in front of the man he once loved, or still loves. And who he walked away because he thought it was the right thing to do at the time, but apparently it wasn't the best idea his brilliant mind could have come up with.

No one has heard from Peter B. Parker in almost three years. Parker had dropped off the radar of everyone he knew except for little Miles Morales, his ward. No one but him knew Pete's whereabouts —as his friends called him. Many wondered what had happened to him. People often asked Miles endless questions, which he never answered, because he was completely devoted to looking after Peter. One of the most persistent at first was Miguel O'Hara, who searched high and low for the man like there was no tomorrow.

So far, without having succeeded...

A week ago, Peter had received what he thought was an important email indicating that there was to be a new meeting of the whole society to which he belonged. Normally he would tell Miles to go and let him know what was going on, but some sixth sense told Peter that he should go himself. Nothing could go wrong. He scrutinised every word in the mail while paying some attention to a little two-year-old redhead who was making a mess of the flat, how could such a little girl have so much spirit to run around all over the place. But Mayday Parker was special, Peter always thought. His little two-year-old daughter, who had come into his life just to make it better; he knew that when he came back he had to take her with him, it wasn't as if he had anywhere else to leave her little girl.

So he decided to go. He enlisted his little girl as best he could, putting her in the charger he'd got, so he could always have her there, although he couldn't because she was so playful that she managed to get out and be anywhere she could, doing her own thing. Peter just thought it was best not to be noticed by Miguel, it hurt him to even think about it. But it was the best thing to do in this situation, if he ever saw the tall, muscular, red-eyed brunette who made him believe in love, he couldn't walk away, and that was what Peter had been trying to do all along.

Not that he didn't love him, but that little secret couldn't come out, so to speak. It was the best option at the time, or so Peter wanted to believe all this time.

And the moment he had avoided so much came, he was standing in front of Miguel O'Hara, who didn't take his eyes off him, it was a lack of time for him to notice this playful little girl who didn't like to sit still. Maybe it had been a bad idea to go, Peter thought as he tried to ignore those beautiful red eyes that made him feel strange. In the end, what he thought happened was that Mayday stumbled into the tall and imposing Miguel, who only looked away from the brown man for a few seconds to look doubtfully at the little girl smiling at him.

There was doubt on his face as he looked down at the little girl he now held in his arms, this was Peter B. Parker's baby. How was this event possible, at what time had it happened, and the most important question that arose in Miguel's mind was who was the other father or mother of this baby. Miguel instinctively smelled little May, felt a familiar scent on her, it wasn't just about Peter. There was another essence, one that he had no idea where Miguel had felt it before.

It was his essence in her.

Anyone would think that this baby, not recognising Miguel, would not let him pick her up or play with her, but the opposite was true. Mayday wanted to be on top of Miguel all the time, laughing and humming in her angelic voice, touching O'Hara's face and hair. They had an indescribable father-daughter bond. It made Miguel remember his little Gabri, who had died a few years before.

Everything was normal, Peter avoided Miguel most of the time, but always watched how he behaved with the baby. Miguel looked after the little red-haired girl without losing sight of his beloved. Until they were face to face, their bodies inches from touching, and a tension flooded the room, so much so that everyone thought they could feel the very air in the room.

"Your little girl is very sweet, she reminds me of someone," were the first words Miguel said in his thick voice, making Peter shiver. Miguel still had that effect on the smaller man.

Peter's defence mechanism was always to make jokes and laugh nervously, and this was a situation where he had to use it. "Who, you?" Peter said as he laughed and looked away from the young man in front of him. He wanted to do so many things with Miguel and say so many things to him, but no other words came out of his mouth and his muscles didn't move even a little to touch him.

Miguel just grunted at the answer and said his favourite word in the whole world. "Peter." His mind, his body, his whole life was happy to say it again and for the aforementioned to hear it. That word, that name, that man belonged to him. They both belonged to each other, but neither of them said it or did anything to make it happen. It was strange how two grown men couldn't show each other the true love they felt for each other, or how they didn't notice it, but everyone else in the room could see the chemistry between them. Maybe it was just a matter of time.

Nothing else happened, neither of them chose to say anything else, and they were both immature or useless when it came to expressing themselves. Now they were leaving again, Mayday with Peter. Miguel kept looking at them as he thought about the baby and how old she was, which happened to be the date that Peter had disappeared from his life, as well as the last time he had touched him, making the chestnut moan with desire. His mind kept running through all these things, coming to the undeniable conclusion that Mayday was also his daughter.

Miguel was daddy... Again.

An immense joy took over his body and made him smile, one of the few times he had ever done so. Bad things had always happened in his life, life had shown him that he didn't deserve to be happy, but this news changed everything. But not everything was rosy, for Peter had kept it from him for no apparent reason.

Now he had to find a way to confirm his theory, although for Miguel it wasn't a theory. It was a reality.
