Minerva walked down the hallway with a swagger, a bottle of ice wine to celebrate her 16th birthday, nearly a year before the rest of her classmates. She had swung by the kitchen and the house elves had been beside themselves to pack her a surprise picnic that was safely enclosed in her robe pocket.
She was technically breaking curfew and didn’t have rounds tonight. Most prefects wouldn’t give her grief except for a few Slytherin ones. She had already dodged Rookwood and MacAlister. The only Slytherin she was really worried about was- fuck…
Druella Rosier sneered as she rounded the corner and nearly fell into Minerva. Ice blue eyes roved quickly, spotting the misting bottle of ice wine. Sapphire eyes narrowed and locked onto emerald eyes.
Druella cocked a hip to the side as her hands gripped them with a haughty smirk.
“Well, well, well. If it isn’t our darling miss perfect breaking curfew and with contraband no less. You’re underage. Tut tut, what kind of role model are you setting for the younger years? Such a shame. I will have to doc-” Minerva broke in before Druella could finish her sentence.
“Shut up Druella, Morgana’s sake you love hearing your own bloody voice. I am of age to drink now, it is not illegal to bring in wine for myself to enjoy. And if you don’t bloody dock points on me, I will share this ice wine with you that my grandmother sent to me and the birthday spread the house elves gave me. So, what say you?” Green eyes twinkled as Minerva gave a crooked grin at the pale haired Slytherin.
Blue eyes narrowed as a snarl appeared then disappeared as a contemplative look stole over pale features.
“You have a deal. But where are you going to…indulge…in your birthday feast?”
“Well I was going somewhere private that would have suited my needs but I think that class on the 7th floor that isn’t used anymore will do.” Minerva held up a hand as the blonde’s mouth opened in protest. “I am not in the habit of sharing my private places with others. This will suit us just fine.”
The pair traveled silently with Minerva in the lead. She frowned when she got to the 7th floor but the door to the unused classroom wasn’t there. She was sure it had just been after this statue. She frowned as she walked the hall a few times. She spun toward Druella as she heard a thud. Watching as the Slytherin hit the wall with widened eyes. Minerva followed her line of sight to see a doorway where before there had been none.
“How strange…well this is the door I think.”
Minerva strode forth and opened the door but it wasn’t an unused classroom this time but a parlor of sorts. The Gryffindor hummed as she walked in regardless and placed the ice wine on the table. Then pulled out the picnic basket and enlarged it. She sat down and flickered her eyes from the blonde lingering in the doorway to the armchair across from her.
“Are you scared to eat with me? I promise that I will be eating everything in this basket.” A sigh escaped the Scottish witch, then she rolled her eyes as she looked back to the stilled Slytherin.
“I am doing this because I don’t want to get into trouble. But mostly? It would be nice to not celebrate my birthday alone this year. Pomona is busy tonight with her girlfriend and I will not be making the mistake of inviting my younger brothers to join me again. We both still remember what happened last year.” The brunette gave a rueful smile that brightened as the blonde walked into the room after closing the door. She daintily sat on the edge of the seat as she looked expectantly at Minerva.
“Pour the champagne, McGonnell.”
“It’s ice wine…you know what, sure.I’ll pour the ice champagne, princess.”
