"Oh, moas are coming in slowly. Hello everyone!" Beomgyu waves at the camera with a wide smile on his face. "It's been a while~"
"You've been waiting for a long time, right?" Taehyun says. With the concert done and the comeback promotions now all wrapped up, Beomgyu and Taehyun have decided to come on weverse and catch up with moas for the night. "We missed you guys." He flashed a genuine smile.
The older chuckled reading at the faster than light responses of 'we missed you more' displayed on the screen of the ipad, not able to hide his amusement at their fans' enthusiasm of seeing the duo together. He knows an uppuz live was highly anticipated by moas, as it's been more than a year since their last one.
It was Taehyun who planted the seed, quietly suggesting of doing a weverse live to Beomgyu during their team dinner after the lollapalooza show. Very tipsy and high on after-concert adrenaline rush, the older did not hesitate, instantly agreeing and informing their managers of Taehyun's brilliant idea, which, at the time, seemed like one. The managers knew Beomgyu wouldn't take no for an answer, so the duo's live was scheduled as soon as they were free from promotions.
Beomgyu wasn't at a state where he gets amnesia after drinking, so the consequences of his uncontrollable motor caught up to him immediately the day after. Plus, an unread message sent last night popped up on his phone, saying 'Thank you for taking one for the team, hyung. Rest well ' with the ID lovely Taehyunie written on top. Beomgyu couldn't help but let out a heavy sigh after, his nerves starting to crawl up from the thought of going live on camera with no one else in the room but him and Taehyun.
Now that the day has finally come, Beomgyu is determined not to mess it up–for his sake and for everyone. "Remember when Taehyunie posted on weverse if you had questions about our firsts? Well to satiate moa's curiosity, we're going to pick random comments and tell stories about our firsts today!" Beomgyu exclaimed, earning a supportive clap from Taehyun sitting beside him.
"This is like an ultimate TMI segment. We may never speak of this again, so listen well, moas." Taehyun joked. Beomgyu laughed, thinking of how good the younger is at keeping the audience on their feet.

"Okay, let's start right away. Tyun, you want to go first?" Beomgyu asked, handing the other ipad they're using to read the weverse comments. Taehyun smiles at him, uttering a small thank you before glueing his eyes to the screen. Beomgyu also leans from his side to keep up with Taehyun's scrolling. Out of habit, he rests his chin on the younger's shoulder.

"This one sounds good, for starters," Taehyun says, causing Beomgyu to sit upright and prepare his ears for listening. "A moa asked, What is TXT's first fight about?"
"You think that's a good start off?" Beomgyu laughs in disbelief. "I thought you were going to begin with something fluffy and less controversial."
Taehyun giggled. "You know what they say, if you have two frogs, eat the bigger one first."
"...Literally no one says that, Taehyun-ah."
"Mark Twain once said if the first thing you do every morning is to eat a frog, you'll be able to go through your day with the satisfaction of knowing that it's probably the worst thing that's gonna happen to you all day long. So eat the frog. If you have many frogs, eat the bigger one first." Taehyun rambles.
Beomgyu only stares at him in silence. "Is this one of your time management studying principles again?"
The younger nods, his eyes twinkling. "Bingo."
Beomgyu sighs, trying his best not to pinch the younger's cheeks. "Right, thank you for that, director Kang. Moas are waiting, so can you answer the question already. Or what was that again? Eat the bigger frog." he says nonchalantly.
"Well, our first fight as a group happened when we were still trainees." Taehyun starts. "I wouldn't call it a big fight or anything, but it was when we were practicing really hard for the day of our first group evaluation. Everyone felt immense pressure to not put the group at stake while at the same time we were all trying to improve our individual skills, plus we barely slept and ate and I remember feeling like standing at death's door."
"I remember that." Beomgyu releases a lumpish huff. "Soobin hyung barely spoke at all, unless it was about the choreo or the song, and Yeonjun hyung's energy was growing thinner by the minute. And our hyung never runs out of energy, so that was alarming."
"We were basically living in the practice room." Taehyun mutters.
Beomgyu nods. "Kai-ah and I cried when we were the only ones who weren't able to rank up from the dance lessons. It was really hard to cope up."
"Then I suggested that we take one day off from practicing only because it felt like we were getting nowhere, and I said that out of genuine concern, but it came out short at that time because everyone looked so offended by it. I had the worst timing." Taehyun's eyes were dazed, Beomgyu notices, as the younger seemed occupied by the distant yet vivid memory of their younger selves, hungry for the passion and need to reach their dreams.
Beomgyu moves his leg closer to him, as if to ground the younger back to the present. Fortunately the act was effective, leading to Taehyun looking at Beomgyu, reciprocating the older's sense of comfort.
"Nah. I wouldn't say it was bad timing. Younger Beomgyu felt hurt by younger Taehyun's words, that's for sure, but that's only because you were right. No matter how hard we practiced, our synergy was way off, and we needed a break asap. So we did, and thank god it worked!" Beomgyu speaks in a lighthearted tone to keep them from spiralling to their memories of pre-debut hardships.
Relief washes over him as he glances at Taehyun who was now smiling. "We did, and eventually things sorted themselves out. The fight, if we could call it that, lasted for like, one sharp breath." Taehyun explains.
"The members love to bicker and tease each other, but we've never had a major fight since then. We're all too nice, you know~" says Beomgyu, his eyebrows wiggling at the camera.
Taehyun's smile gets bigger, and he shakes his head. "Sure, hyung."

The duo took turns in answering the questions after that. Various stories about their firsts occupied most of their conversations with consideration as members of a kpop group, and as individuals who were merely Kang Taehyun from Seoul and Choi Beomgyu from Daegu. From their first time riding a rollercoaster, to their first payday purchase, the two chimed in happily to one another's storytelling as most of their firsts occurred with the other present.
They didn't have to admit it out loud, but Beomgyu missed the way they can just talk about everything and anything without having to spare a glance as to who might be listening, because in the several breakrooms and backstages they've loitered before performing on stage, hearty talks weren't a priority. Sure, hotel rooms could be appropriate for that, but people like Beomgyu and Taehyun who were always on the go and camera-ready, no one could blame them for needing time to unwind underneath the soft hotel blankets and shut the busy world out through sleeping.
"The first time I saw snow in seoul, I think was actually with my family, but I was too little to remember it clearly. The time I saw the first snow in seoul as a trainee was with Taehyun, when we went out to buy something at a convenience store. That, I remember all too well." Beomgyu sang the last few lines, with Taehyun slowly rocking his head from side to side.
"Same. I think I already shared this though," Taehyun says. "I said you looked like a puppy. You were so cute, hyung. Your hair was chestnut and you were basically bouncing up and down. For a second I thought you turned into a maltese." He looks at the older with both fondness and youthful folly.
Beomgyu's blush was peeking through his cheeks, so he tucks his face inside his hood. "I couldn't help it. I was a snow-deprived daegu kid."

"Who paid for your first meal as a newly-debuted kpop group–does bingsu count? Because it was the first thing we ordered when we finished the comeback showcase." Taehyun asked.
"Why do you pick either the most random questions or the most heart wrenching ones?" Beomgyu says. "But yes, bingsu counts."
"I like to be unpredictable." Taehyun shrugged. "And to answer the question, it was Soobin-hyung who paid for it." He faces the camera with a polite smile. "How about this one? What was the first big word that you learned as a child?"
"Hmm, mine was probably ambulance." Beomgyu replied.
"Mine was catacoustics." Taehyun says.
"What. How old were you?" Beomgyu squints. "Where did you even learn that?"
"I was 4. Read it from a science book. It's just the science of reflected sounds or in other words, echoes." Taehyun elaborated, feeling his ears turn red at the sight of Beomgyu's (failed) attempt of hiding a smile. "I know, I know. I was a big nerd back then." He continues.
"Who says you aren't now?" Beomgyu jokes, leaning closer to Taehyun who was now looking at the ipad screen. He scrolls leisurely, trying to ignore Beomgyu's mischievious eyes. "You're so..." Beomgyu whispers, breathing out a small chuckle before eventually letting the younger breathe as he leans back on the support seat cushion.

Taehyun was right, this was an ultimate time of knowing more about them. Even though Taehyun's first celebrity crush being Han Sunhwa was old news to Beomgyu, there were still things he has recently discovered about him, and it fills him with fondness as he realizes that he may be the first person to hear about Taehyun's stories, that the younger is willing to open up to him....and to the 730k who are watching the live, but that's besides the point.
Even more so, as Taehyun mentioned in their ELLE interview where no one understands Beomgyu more than him, he has proven himself time and again, and especially right now, when Beomgyu comes up with something. This guy is a natural at entertaining himself, and now that they are at a nice momentum and it's getting really comfortable, a healthy competition would do no harm.
"I have an idea," he grabs the younger's attention. "To make things more interesting, why don't we pick comments but the other has to answer it for us. You up for it?"
"Like a, how well do txt members know each other kind of set-up? That sounds fun." Taehyun answers, reflecting back the competitive grin perfectly plastered on Beomgyu's face. "Loser gets to treat the winner a meal."
Beomgyu perks up at that. "Samgyupsal sounds like heaven, Taehyun. Thank you for the meal."
Taehyun laughs. "We'll see about that, hyung. Though I'm craving seafood." He taunts.

So far, they've answered thirteen questions each and one of them has yet to miss a point, for neither Beomgyu nor Taehyun has plans of backing down. They haven't noticed the views go up to at least 200k more, as their fans tweeting and posting short clips of the on-going live on twitter have gained big numbers and attracted more attention. Everyone was basically anticipating who wins and who loses the now historic game of firsts.
It was Beomgyu's turn. His eyes focus on an interesting question. "Taehyun-ah, this one says, What was the first song Taehyun heard Beomgyu play on the guitar?"
Taehyun quickly answered in one breath. "Falling Slowly by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova."
"Ohh~ as expected of Kang Taehyun~ I thought you wouldn't remember." Beomgyu beams, proud at the younger for not forgetting a shared fond memory.
"I've never been serenaded before, and you expect me to forget how you missed a few chords after the last chorus and how you played a C# instead of–" Taehyun gets interrupted by Beomgyu's ear-dropping shrieks. "YA KANG TAEHYUN. I DID NOT MISS THE CHORDS WHAT ARE YOU SAYING," He violently shouts, making Taehyun whip his head in laughter.

"This is slander! MOAs, don't listen to him! My guitar skills are nothing short of a ten out of ten!" Beomgyu says to the camera defensively. Then he turns back to Taehyun. "And besides, I was quite nervous back then! So give me a break!"
Taehyun pats Beomgyu's head and wipes the tears in his eyes. "Alright, alright. You were great, hyung. One of the best guitarists I've known." He lets out a tired but happy sigh. "Let me find another comment."
"Hmph." Beomgyu crosses his arms. At the corner of his eye, his phone blinks and a notification from Soobin pops up. He grabs it and reads, Gyu, wrap the live up with one last question before u two say anything else, and Beomgyu feels a little confused yet dismayed at that. He doesn't actually want to be the one to tell them to stop, not when they're both clearly having fun. But Beomgyu thinks that Soobin was maybe concerned of the time, so he puts his phone down and pokes Taehyun.
"We're gonna do one more comment, then it's capture time." He says to Taehyun, feeling guilty of being the reason why the latter's smile has faltered.
"Sounds good. MOAs, this will be the last comment for tonight. I know, I know. I'm sad to say goodbye to you guys as well, but rest assured this won't be the last time Beomgyu and I will do a live as fun as this one."
Taehyun faces the camera. "So, for the last question of the day," then he looks at Beomgyu and smirks.
Beomgyu knows that look. It was Taehyun's way of saying he already won.
"As a TXT member, when was my first heartbreak?"
Beomgyu blinks. Taehyun's first heartbreak? He thinks for a while, but this is the first time Taehyun has personally spoke up on this matter. They go way back, grew up together, and their dynamics have definitely changed, but they haven't talked about this yet. He finds himself at a surprisingly difficult question.
Or better yet, was it possibly because of him? Was there someone else? Someone from his childhood?
Afraid of getting the answer wrong and his curiosity getting the better of him, Beomgyu clarifies, "Like, before I came into the picture, right?"
But Taehyun's mouth was slowly gaping, his eyes going slightly wider than normal. Beomgyu wonders why the younger was looking at him like that when he realized what he said and what the implications were. He backtracks, and remembers the question. Taehyun was talking about being a TXT member and not on–oh.
Oh.
That kind of heartbreak. Not the romantic one.
Of course.
And oh shit, they're live.
"I mean, like, since I was the last member to have joined the team, does this mean your first heartbreak before I joined or after?" Beomgyu smoothly adds, rapidly blinking. Thank God Taehyun does well under pressure because he replies calmly, "After you joined, of course. I'm not that evil to give you a hard time."
"Ah, then I'm guessing it's placing 4th on the monthly evaluation list when you've always been 3rd?" At this point, Beomgyu was just spouting whatever thoughts he could to calm himself down.
Taehyun shakes his head. "Not enough to break me. My first heartbreak was RM-hyung exposing me of having Jungkook-hyung's pics in my gallery in front of the members and to BTS sunbaenims." Taehyun closed the ipad and nodded. "I can't wait to eat sashimi with you."
Taehyun may have won the game, but it seemed like there were no actual winners. Beomgyu wanted to scream.
"Let's do capture time." He utters weakly instead.
