Work Text:

There were very few things that Yoongi hated more than having to sit through a three-hour lecture that was delivered by a professor with as much charm as a piece of six-day old lint, after fighting to stay awake during a biology lab that lasted for almost two hours after only getting two and a half hours of sleep after staying up all night studying for an exam that ended up being postponed last minute, due to some “personal reasons” as explained by another one of his dry, old professors. Few things could be worse than all of that, but standing in the checkout line of the grocery store, a basket full of things that Seokjin texted him to pick up on his way home hanging from his clenched fist, behind a rude Alpha who kept saying lewd, crass things to him after going through a day with every single one of the aforementioned aspects, Yoongi thought that he’d found the thing he hated the most:

Ignorant, persistent, rude, loud, inconsiderate, self-entitled Alphas.

To put it delicately, Min Yoongi was not happy.

“Why are you being like this? I promise that you’ll be a lot happier if you’d come home with me. Maybe you need a good fuck. I can give you that, pretty boy,” the Alpha said, reaching his hand up to run his fingers over Yoongi’s cheek down to his jaw. Yoongi batted the guy’s hand away harshly, deliberately staring at the cashier with darkened, highly aggravated eyes. She only shrugged sheepishly –she was only a Beta. No Alpha would ever listen to her- and then focused entirely on scanning the items of the old woman two places ahead of Yoongi’s “admirer.”

Behind him, Yoongi felt Jimin fidget anxiously, seeing just how rigid Yoongi’s entire body was becoming. He knew his friend better than anyone except for Yoongi’s mate and he knew, with the way that Yoongi had gone entirely still, the older Omega’s already tiny reservoir of patience had run out.

The Alpha tried again, this time sliding a hand around Yoongi’s waist, only to have the tiny Omega shove him away, shoulders braced and shaking.

            “C’mon,” the Alpha tried again.

“Leave me alone.” Yoongi’s voice was low in his throat and there was a very thinly veiled threat underlying every syllable.

“Someone as pretty as you can’t be left alone,” the Alpha sneered, this time grabbing Yoongi’s chin in his hand and jerking his face up. Before Yoongi had time to react, the Alpha had pressed his mouth to the Omega’s. Yoongi froze and the Alpha took this as his cue to shove his tongue into the Omega’s mouth, trying to coax the Omega to kiss him back, hand sliding down to grope Yoongi’s ass. Yoongi’s stomach rolled and then, the Alpha was stepping back, a red mark blooming on his cheek and Yoongi’s palm stung brightly. The rest of the people in the checkout line stilled, even the cashier who looked more than just a small bit nervous.

“You little bitch,” the strange Alpha hissed. Yoongi saw red.

The next moment, the Alpha was on his ass on the floor, looking at the drops of blood that he’d wiped off of his lip. Jimin’s arms were tight around Yoongi’s torso, holding the other Omega back with every ounce of strength that he had in his own little body. The items that Seokjin had asked that Yoongi picked up rolled gently around on the floor where they’d fallen out of their basket when Yoongi dropped it to punch the Alpha square in the mouth with everything he had.

“Are you going to just let him do that?!” The Alpha exclaimed, pointing at Yoongi as he looked at the cashier. She shrugged, suddenly emboldened by Yoongi’s outburst.

“You shouldn’t have called him a bitch,” she said.

Yoongi was still straining against Jimin’s hold.

            “Hyung, stop.”

Yoongi’s feet slid against the floor.

“Let me go, Jimin. I’m gonna kill him.”

The Alpha, who was still on the floor, saw his life flash before his eyes as he saw the darkness in the tiny, pale Omega’s eyes.

            “Hyung, that’s illegal.”

The Alpha behind Jimin let out a snort of laughter at the scene in front of him.

            “And?”

            Jimin sighed.

“Let’s just get you home.” He started to walk, Yoongi reluctantly going alongside him as the offending Alpha slowly came to his feet.

            “Hey!”

The stranger’s shout drew them both to a halt, turning back to look at the enraged Alpha who opened his mouth to speak when he saw that he’d recaptured both of the Omegas’ attentions.

“Omegas like you never have happy endings. Even if you have or even get a Mate, he or she will leave you, because you’re a freak. You’re nothing but trash, and it’s about time you realized that! Why don’t you start acting like an Omega, and see what happens? Your life will be a lot better –that, I can assure you. Not a single Alpha wants to be pushed down by anyone, especially not an Omega. Good luck ever keeping anyone in your life, acting like that.”

Yoongi’s heart stopped for a moment and his head spun. Jimin’s grip on him tightened and he took in a sharp breath, hands trembling against Yoongi’s shirt.

“Go fuck yourself,” he snapped at the Alpha. “You don’t know anything about him, so leave us alone!” The Alpha took a step back, surprised that the quiet, pretty Omega had opened his mouth, much less swore at him.

Literally dragging Yoongi out of the store, apologizing profusely to the cashier and other people in the line, leaving the food items on the floor, Jimin got them to Yoongi’s car, putting his friend in the passenger seat and climbing into the driver’s seat.

“Seat belt, hyung,” he said, buckling himself in. Yoongi only huffed in Jimin’s general direction, glaring out of the windshield at an entirely innocent pigeon that pecked at the asphalt of the parking lot.

“If you stare at that poor bird any harder, it’ll probably explode. Just because you’re mad doesn’t mean that you need to be stupid; put on your seat belt,” Jimin said again, starting the car. Yoongi didn’t move, except to turn his head away from Jimin.

“You’re such a baby,” Jimin grumbled, leaning over the center console to grab the other Omega’s seatbelt to buckle him in himself.

Seokjin almost fell out of his seat when Jimin dragged Yoongi in the door with the paler of the two Omegas flushed a dark pink and looking like he was ready to break the nearest breakable thing in reach and good-natured Jimin, who could tolerate just about anything -from Taehyung jumping on him to wake him up at some ungodly hour of the night, to Taehyung cooking dinner for him and ending up burning whatever he’d just thrown into the pan so badly that the entire apartment complex had had to be evacuated because smoke was flooding the entire hallway, looked like he was about to start swinging at anybody who crossed his path. Just to be on the safe side, Seokjin sat a pot of flowers to the side out of harm’s way, before standing up just in time to catch Yoongi as Jimin pushed him at the tall Alpha.

“What happened?” He asked, feeling how rigid Yoongi’s body was against his own. Jimin sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose.

“He got hit on by another Alpha at the grocery store again. It called him a bad name and hyung punched it. And then it was really hurtful and mean,” Jimin said, painfully aware of how much he sounded like a little kid complaining to his mother.

It was Seokjin’s turn to sigh.

“Thank you for bringing him home, Jimin. Do you need me to drive you home?” Seokjin asked, as calm as though he wasn’t holding his furious, volatile Mate against his chest and was instead cleaning up the living area. Jimin shook his head.

“I texted Namjoon and he’s here to pick me up. I’m going over to his place to study,” he said, a faint blush on his cheeks. Seokjin raised both eyebrows, a knowing smirk on his face.

“’Study’ hard, then, Jiminnie,” he said, just to see the pink darken and spread across Jimin’s face. Blushing harder than ever before, Jimin bowed and ducked out of the door, closing it carefully behind him.

“Ah, young love,” Seokjin sighed. “They’re so cute.” Yoongi splayed his fingers on Seokjin’s chest and shoved his Mate away. The look on his face was bitter, furious, and Seokjin thought that he could also see some guilt, though he didn’t know why.

“So, Yoongi. What happened?” Seokjin asked, sitting back down in his chair, his voice airy and nonchalant. Yoongi mumbled a response.

“Babe, I can’t hear you when you mumble,” Seokjin said gently.

“He was hitting on me and he called me a bad name, so I punched him,” Yoongi said, his voice barely audible. Seokjin sighed again. Sometimes –almost always- he felt as though his Mate was more impulsive and more easily incited than him, although Omegas were supposed to be placid and quiet.

“Yoongi, this isn’t primary school. You can’t just hit people because they call you a bad name. What’d he call you anyway?” Seokjin scolded. If anyone else had said anything along those lines to Yoongi, the Omega would have snapped something back that was scathing and rude that would end the conversation immediately. As it was, he gave his Mate a dirty look that Seokjin didn’t even for a moment take to heart.

“He called me a bitch, but that’s not why I hit him. Not the first time, anyway. I did punch him because he called me a bitch though,” Yoongi stated, the conversational tone betrayed by how tight his shoulders still were. Seokjin only sighed again. Since before he’d even become Yoongi’s Mate, back when they had become roommates first, he’d found that during his conversations with the small Omega, he could sigh at least twenty times, all different ways.

There was silence, but Seokjin didn’t prompt Yoongi to say anything. He knew that when the Omega was ready, he’d tell him and not a moment before. Yoongi stood in front of him, toying with his hands and biting at his lip. Before long, the anger gave way to anxiousness and Seokjin’s eyes sharpened when tension in the air grew stronger.

“Yoongi?” He asked gently. Yoongi shook his head and looked anywhere but at Seokjin.

“It’s okay, babe,” Seokjin soothed. “You’re okay now, I promise. I don’t care what he called you and you shouldn’t either.”

Yoongi shook his head and his shoulders slumped.

“I’m sorry that I didn’t get your groceries,” he finally muttered. Seokjin brushed it away.

“Don’t worry about it. I’ll just go pick them up after class tomorrow/ It’s late, though, Yoongi. Even though you don’t have classes tomorrow, you should still go ahead and go to bed. Don’t think that I didn’t notice you getting up at three in the morning to go study in the kitchen. I know you’re tired. Are you hungry?”

Yoongi shook his head at that last bit.

“Alright, then go get in bed. You need to sleep, okay? I’ll go to bed later; I’ve got to go over some chem notes that I took last semester because I’ve got an exam at the end of the week,” Seokjin explained, standing back up from the chair, walking over to Yoongi and dropping a kiss on his forehead. Yoongi mumbled something and then turned into his room. Seokjin frowned at this. After they’d Mated, Yoongi had been sleeping in Seokjin’s room, claiming that Seokjin’s bed was more comfortable and spacious and that if he didn’t sleep in Seokjin’s room, Seokjin would just come into his room and Yoongi’s bed wasn’t big enough for the both of them and that he needed his space when he slept, which was total bullshit, because each of their beds were the same size, brand, and model, and Yoongi was a serial snuggler in REM.

A few hours later, after Seokjin had showered and changed into sleeping clothes, he slipped into Yoongi’s room and quietly slid into bed beside his Mate. Yoongi immediately turned onto his side, back facing Seokjin.

            “Yoongi…”

            Silence met his ears.

“Yoongi, have you been awake this whole time?”

The Omega’s shoulders twitched in a shrug. Seokjin sighed yet again and shifted closer, laying his arm on Yoongi’s side so that his hand covered his Mate’s shoulder. Yoongi twitched again.

“What else happened, babe?” Seokjin’s low voice rumbled throughout the room, although he was talking as quietly as he could. Yoongi’s body locked up.

“It’s okay, Yoongi. You know you can tell me.”

Yoongi inhaled sharply and rolled onto his back, looking up into his Mate’s face.

“He kissed me and I didn’t do anything to stop him. I couldn’t even move. It was like I was frozen and he got really bold and-“ Yoongi shuddered. “I’m sorry. I should’ve pushed him away before he could do anything else. I-I didn’t want him to do that, and when I could move again, I slapped him.”

Seokjin rolled so that he was hovering over Yoongi, elbows beside the Omega’s head, nose almost against Yoongi’s, one knee in between both of his Mate’s.

“I don’t care what he did. I’m just proud that you stood up for yourself and didn’t let him just get away with it,” he said, his voice even quieter than before. Yoongi almost whined.

“Then why do I feel so dirty?”

Seokjin exhaled shakily and ran one hand down Yoongi’s arm and back up until he had the Omega’s cheek cupped in his palm.

“Because that Alpha was trash and he touched you,” he stated simply. Yoongi turned his head to the side, pressing his face into Seokjin’s hand. “You’re still you, though and no matter what, he won’t make you dirty again. I’m not going to let any filthy Alphas touch you again, okay?”

Yoongi actually let out a plaintive whine this time. Seokjin lowered his lips to Yoongi’s cheek, pressing a gentle kiss there before turning Yoongi’s face back towards him and kissing his Mate on the mouth carefully.

“You’re not dirty,” he whispered, moving so that he was again lying beside his Mate. Yoongi turned so that he could lie against Seokjin’s chest, nosing down into familiar warmth and the smell of home, clean clothes, flowery shampoo and the undertone of Seokjin’s natural Alpha scent.

Something wasn’t right with Yoongi, Seokjin noticed in the following weeks. Usually, his Mate would return Taehyung and Jimin’s playful banter with some sassy remark that would have Namjoon and Hoseok covering their mouths and crowing, “Oooh, tell ‘em!” Lately, however, he’d just sit there quietly, hands in his lap and eyes trained on the floor, taking whatever they had to say without complaint or comeback. Whenever Seokjin would ask if Yoongi could do something around the dorm, Yoongi would do it, no questions asked when usually, he’d grumble and complain and then, once Seokjin was getting ready just to do whatever it was himself, he’d get around to actually doing it.

Walking into the dorm after a full day of classes one day, the tall Alpha saw his Mate just sitting on the couch, staring blankly at the wall ahead of him, hands limp in his lap. Seokjin let his bag slip off of his shoulder and tossed it onto the armchair, tilting his head to the side slightly. Yoongi didn’t so much as acknowledge him.

“Yoongi?” Seokjin was hesitant. “Are you okay, babe?”

“Do you want to leave me?”

Seokjin’s entire body went stiff as a board and his stomach jumped to his throat. Yoongi’s voice sounded dead and flat, lifeless as though someone had sucked all of the happiness and hope out of his life.

Before Seokjin had a chance to ask what the fuck Yoongi meant by asking if he wanted to leave, the Omega’s shoulders slumped and he looked even smaller than ever.

“Remember that guy I ran into a few weeks back at the store? That Alpha said that nobody would ever want me and that even my Mate wanted to leave me, since I’m nothing like an Omega. I’m sorry that I wasn’t like an Omega, and I’m trying to do better. I’m sorry, Seokjin. I’ll be a good Omega from now on and you won’t have to worry about me ever being anything but…”

Yoongi’s voice trailed off, sounding so, so sad and the Alpha felt his heart tighten. Falling onto the couch beside his Mate, he wrapped both arms around the tiny Omega and pulled him in close, rocking him back and forth and pressing tiny kisses against his hair. Yoongi didn’t seem to be anywhere near relaxing, however, and so Seokjin moved back, keeping his hand on Yoongi’s thigh.

“You’re perfect, Yoongi, and you don’t know that. Who cares what that jerk said? You’re my Mate, not his, so it doesn’t matter what he thinks. Screw being a ‘good Omega.’ I love you for being you, not for fitting some Omega stereotype.” Seokjin let out a bitter laugh.     Words bubbled up in his chest and he had to pause for a moment to gather his thoughts.

“Hell, Yoongi! I’m more like an Omega than you most of the time! I do the cooking, cleaning, nagging, mothering and complaining about little things like not replacing the toilet paper roll when it runs out, and I like the color pink and Disney princesses and video games, and you’re the one who always stands up for himself and talks back and doesn’t back down from anything. I don’t like it when you’re complacent; I like when you’re being you. I’ll take your stubborn, grumpy, grandpa self any day of the week over some whiny, little Omega who does whatever his Alpha wants and doesn’t care about himself.”

Yoongi let out a tiny sob, turning so that he could press his face into Seokjin’s chest. The Alpha’s shoulders rose and fell as he caught his breath, livid at the very thought of someone dripping such dangerous poison into his Mate’s ear.

“Why would you ever think I’d leave you? I love you, you stubborn jerk, and I mean it. You’re the best thing to ever happen to me, even when you’ve left your dirty socks beside the bed when the hamper is literally four inches away at the foot of the bed. I wouldn’t trade you for any Omega in the world,” Seokjin mused, his voice growing quieter and quieter in the stillness of the room. Yoongi didn’t move, not even once, but the way that his breath was hot against Seokjin’s chest let the Alpha know that he was trying his hardest not to cry.

Sitting up, Yoongi sniffled, blinking pretty, tear-filled eyes at the Alpha.

“I love you too, you giant, nagging grandma,” he managed, a tiny laugh coming afterwards. Seokjin leaned forwards, capturing Yoongi’s mouth with his own, ignoring the tears that slipped out of Yoongi’s eyes down his cheeks.

“Don’t cry, babe,” he whispered. “You’re beyond perfect.”

Yoongi let out a needy, whining groan and pressed close, savoring the feeling of having Seokjin give in so willingly and warmly, until Yoongi was straddling his lap, using his newfound height advantage over the Alpha to take control of their kiss, pushing his tongue into Seokjin’s mouth first and dominating possessively. Seokjin’s hands slid down to hold tight to Yoongi’s waist, holding firm and steady as Yoongi began to tremble slightly.

“You’re perfect,” Seokjin murmured, his fingertips sliding under the oversized tee-shirt that Yoongi had thrown on after getting out of yet another boring lecture from another boring professor.

“You’re beautiful, Yoongi. You’re an amazing person, and I am so lucky…” Seokjin’s voice was deeper than ever before and Yoongi felt warmed to the tips of his toes. With the way that his own Alpha’s hands covered every inch of his body, massaging tightness out of muscles that had been way too long held tight, he wasn’t all too sure who the actually lucky one in the relationship was.

The kiss turned suddenly heavier, darker as Yoongi pressed his body even closer and Seokjin willingly obliged, raising his hips to get that closeness. The air around them grew hot until all that Yoongi could think of was how much Seokjin’s eyes brimmed with warmth and heat and love , and how much he loved his Alpha and how much he wanted to show his Alpha that he loved him.

“Wait.” Seokjin broke the kiss with a gasp. Yoongi looked at him, hurt registering across his face until the Alpha hurried to explain himself.

“Yoongi, you don’t have to prove anything to me. I love you, and I know that you love me. If you only want to do this because you think that I’ll love you more, or know that you love me, please, you don’t have to.”

Yoongi shook his head and ducked his head for another kiss. Seokjin melted into it for a few minutes before he pulled away again.

“If you want this, want it for the right reasons. Because I’d feel like I was taking advantage of you if I just went along with it if you’re not in your right headspace.”

Again, Yoongi shook his head, sitting back on Seokjin’s thighs, one hand on the back of the Alpha’s head, fingers playing through the hair there, the other hand on Seokjin’s shoulder, thumbing across the warm skin that peeked out from under Seokjin’s shirt collar.

“Seokjin, have I ever actually needed a reason to want to be-“ Yoongi blushed as he realized what he’d almost said. Seokjin tilted his head to the side, an amused smile playing about the corners of his mouth.

“Alright, if you’re sure,” the Alpha said, standing up with Yoongi against his chest, his wrists under the Omega’s thighs to support Yoongi’s weight. Yoongi flushed hotly.

Effortlessly, Seokjin walked them both to Yoongi’s room. The Omega fell to the mattress and immediately pulled Seokjin down with him, going straight into a desperate, messy kiss. Seokjin let himself be rolled onto his back and let Yoongi remove their shirts, bringing his hands up only to run them down the Omega’s chest admiringly.

“Your skin is so perfect. I’m so jealous,” Seokjin said, eyes fixed solely on the smoothness of the younger man’s torso. Yoongi stilled and then rolled his eyes.

“You’re so weird,” he said, his voice shaking slightly as Seokjin’s hands moved just the slightest bit downwards, playing at the waistband of Yoongi’s jeans.

There was something desperate in the way that Yoongi kissed, something needy in the way that he dipped his hands into Seokjin’s pants to stroke along Seokjin’s length until the Alpha was flushed bright pink and panting harshly beneath him. There was something positively frightened in the way that Yoongi’s eyes never left Seokjin’s face, searching for some sign that his Mate wasn’t happy for any reason. Seokjin could feel Yoongi’s nervousness in the way that the Omega’s thighs shook as he straddled his Mate, and he just kept looking up at the pale Omega, eyes so intense and dark that Yoongi almost wanted to look away.

For the first time since they’d Mated, Seokjin let Yoongi have total control over what went down, body tight and shivering as Yoongi’s skilled hands coaxed him to full hardness. Carefully, so as not to startle the Omega, one of Seokjin’s hands crept to the edge of the bedside table, fingers closing around the small bottle there and laying it beside Yoongi’s knee. The Omega’s breathing was shaky, uneven and there was hesitation in each of his movements.

“You’re okay, Yoongi,” Seokjin whispered. “It’s okay.”

The Omega leaned down so that he could rest his forehead against the Alpha’s, sharing the same air. His eyes were squeezed shut and his lips hung open as he panted. When Yoongi began to slip his own jeans off, Seokjin moved to assist him, gently tugging down denim and cotton boxers until they were both bare, hot skin pressed to hot skin, muscles jumping at the slightest touch.

The lube that Yoongi spread between his palms was cool when he smoothed it over Seokjin’s cock, covering every inch carefully. Slowly, as though he was moving around a frightened animal, Seokjin squeezed some out of the bottle as well, slicking up his fingers and carefully guiding them to Yoongi’s entrance, smoothing over flushed, pale skin before he could slip the tip of one finger inside, slowly stretching Yoongi’s body to accommodate him.

The Omega hunched over even more, burying his face in Seokjin’s shoulder, breathing ragged in his throat as Seokjin’s fingers worked diligently in his body.

“Yoongi, it’s okay,” Seokjin soothed, turning his face to the side to breathe the words against Yoongi’s ear to feel the way that the Omega shivered.

“Just forget about whatever he said. He doesn’t know you…” The Alpha’s voice was quiet and steadying. Finally, he let his arms fall to his sides, Yoongi keening deep in the back of his throat at the feeling of being suddenly empty. Fingers twitching, Yoongi slid his hands across Seokjin’s stomach before he rose onto his knees, one hand behind him to guide Seokjin into his body. Seokjin held his breath, holding a curse in as Yoongi bit his lip, eyelids fluttering as he sank slowly down until he was once again flush against Seokjin’s thighs.

Insecurity had never been something that Seokjin had ever noticed in Yoongi before. The Omega was always bold and outspoken, stolidly confident, and never let anything bother him in the slightest. However, now looking back, Yoongi never really let his guard down, always putting up a strong front to make people think that he was tough, unbreakable. There was always a part of him that he kept locked away, hidden even from the careful eyes of his Mate and for the first time, as Seokjin looked up into prettily slanted eyes, he saw the vulnerability that Yoongi had so long tried to stamp down and hide forever.

“S-Seokjin,” Yoongi whined. The Alpha hummed deep in his chest, rolling his hips forward and feeling how the Omega’s fingernails stung his chest as Yoongi’s hands tightened.

“I’m right here, Yoongi. Right here,” the elder whispered. Yoongi’s body trembled and then, Seokjin wrapped his arms around his Mate and rolled them over so that Yoongi’s knees were bent on either side of Seokjin’s body and his head rested against the pillows.

“Don’t change, okay? I didn’t fall in love with you because you’re the ideal Omega stereotype.”

Yoongi panted, arching his back as Seokjin rocked his hips forward, trying to hold back, though the tightness and heat of Yoongi’s body was threatening to take over any other thoughts in his mind. A stream of unintelligible words fell from Yoongi’s lips and he bit down hard on his bottom lip. Seokjin hummed in displeasure, pulling Yoongi’s lip free with two fingers.

Bracing his hands in the sheets, Seokjin rutted forward, pulling back until he was almost all the way out of Yoongi, then surged forward again. A strangled gasp fell from Yoongi’s mouth and the Omega’s eyes fell shut, head going back and displaying the pale, sweaty skin of his throat to the Alpha. Seokjin lowered his mouth to suck at Yoongi’s neck, Yoongi’s body jumping at the feeling.

“W-Why did you fall in l-love with me?” Yoongi whispered, tilting his head back down to look straight at Seokjin. The Alpha smiled, contentedness and peacefulness taking over his entire face.

“I fell in love with you because you’re the perfect person for me. Whether you’d been the Alpha or I’d been the Omega, I would have loved you just as much. I don’t care what you are, just that you’re who you are.”

At this, Yoongi’s body arched up and he came once, twice, without ever having touched himself. The warm, sticky liquid covered his stomach and was rubbed in as Seokjin began moving again.

“I don’t understand you,” Yoongi panted. Seokjin raised his eyebrows, but didn’t stop thrusting forwards gently.

“You’re so….different from any other Alphas. You don’t make me do anything and you don’t get all territorial or possessive or controlling. Hell, even Jungkook has a hold on Taehyung, and we all know how hard Taehyung is to control. Don’t you dare ever leave me,” Yoongi said, his voice strained in his throat as he began to grow hard again, knees tight against Seokjin’s sides.

Seokjin was past words at this point, instead reverting to kissing at the sensitive skin on Yoongi’s shoulder and neck and everywhere else he could reach with his mouth.

But, that was the thing. Seokjin didn’t have to say anything else. His eyes, his actions and the sweet way that he reached up to lace the fingers of one hand with Yoongi’s let the Omega know that he was loved, cherished, and would never be taken for granted.

Seokjin found completion after a few more minutes, hips slowing to a stop. Trembling with the force of his orgasm, he panted for a few breaths before slipping out of Yoongi before his knot had a chance to trap him inside. Having come for the third time just a moment before Seokjin had, Yoongi squirmed, body feeling painfully sensitive. Once the Alpha had regained control of his limbs and breathing, he slid from the bed, gently picking the Omega up and holding him against his chest, heading to the bathroom carefully.

Once he had painstakingly cleaned all bodily fluids from their bodies, Seokjin carried the Omega, Yoongi now barely on this side of awake, to his own room, dressing both of them carefully and laying them down in Seokjin’s bed, keeping contact with Yoongi every moment.

That night, they both slept better than either of them had in ages, Yoongi’s heart and mind lighter than it had ever been before and Seokjin filled with the golden buzz that only comes after assuring someone of just how much you love them in the most intimate of ways.

In the following days, Seokjin noticed a drastic change emerging in Yoongi. Where the Omega had always been brusque and snarky, he had mellowed considerably, eyes lighting up visibly whenever he saw his Mate. The way that he grumbled and griped at the younger members of their friend group didn’t change, but there was a fond light that he allowed to shine from his eyes.

One day, a little over two months from that fateful day where the stranger-Alpha had addressed every single one of Yoongi’s insecurities, the Omega and Seokjin were walking through that same store, their fingers interlaced as they watched Jimin and Namjoon ahead of them, the younger Omega pointing out things excitedly and Namjoon smiling helplessly and obviously smitten with the sweet Omega.

Suddenly, Jimin stopped, smile sliding from his lips and his neck and shoulders tightening up. Nearing them, Yoongi drew up short as well, eyes growing steely and cold as an Alpha approached them from the other end of the aisle.

He didn’t say anything at first, simply looking back and forth between Namjoon’s possessive arm around Jimin’s waist and Seokjin’s fingers held tightly in Yoongi’s hand. Then, he snorted, a dry smirk marring his features.

“So the little, rebel Omegas found someone. That’s so sweet it makes me sick. I hope you don’t think it’ll last,” he said, eyes boring straight at Jimin and Yoongi. “It’s a shame, though; you’re both so pretty. I don’t think you guys know just what you’ve gotten into. Neither of them are worth anything, except to warm someone’s bed when they’re feeling desperate.” He finally spoke to the Alphas after making deliberate eye contact with each Omega.

Namjoon’s face twisted and he made a violent movement towards the other Alpha. A strong hand fell on his shoulder and tugged him back with surprising force. Yoongi slid up beside Jimin, pressing their shoulders together comfortingly as Seokjin stepped around Namjoon, a pleasant smile on his face.

“I don’t believe we’ve ever met. I’m Kim Seokjin, and this is my Mate Min Yoongi, and our friends Park Jimin and Kim Namjoon. I hope you’re doing well. I heard that you suffered an injury to your mouth in your pathetic attempt to hook up with my Mate. I don’t think you have a true grasp of what desperate is. I mean, if you don’t call yourself desperate or worthless, you’re clearly lying to yourself.” Seokjin’s voice never once lost its airy tone, but the air seemed to shiver around him and he seemed to grow even taller than before, seemingly towering over the other Alpha. Yoongi felt a rush of pride. Jimin’s mouth opened in a silent “wow,” Namjoon’s doing the same.

“It is in your best, immediate interest to turn around and preserve whatever vestiges of dignity that you may somehow still possess. Please refrain from ever speaking to my Mate, my friends or myself ever again. If you do, I will see you in court for molestation of a Mated Omega and emotional distress. I can only hope that one day, you come to realize just how ignorant you are and that you get exactly what you deserve. Have a wonderful day,” Seokjin said, eyes sharp on the other Alpha’s face. Swallowing hard, the other Alpha began to stutter out a reply before lowering his eyes and pushing between Jimin and Yoongi, legs carrying him swiftly from the frighteningly calm taller Alpha.

Namjoon and Jimin looked at Seokjin, mouths falling open and the eldest turned to meet the shocked eyes of his friends.

“What?” He asked, his face deceivingly innocent. Yoongi rolled his eyes.

            “H-H-Hyung?” Namjoon choked out. “You’re scary…”

Seokjin allowed a miniscule, smug smile to turn his mouth upwards before he fought it back down and raised his chin.

“What else do we need?” He asked, deftly changing the topic. Again, Yoongi rolled his eyes.

“Let’s just get out of here before he gets an ego,” he said, grabbing his Mate’s arm and heading out of the store. Jimin and Namjoon followed behind, still watching Seokjin with something akin to fearful awe. Their expressions didn’t change the entire way back to Seokjin and Yoongi’s dorm building, and Seokjin’s lips kept twitching up into a smile every time he glanced back in the rearview mirror, before falling level with the aloof air of an aristocrat.

It wasn’t until they had sent Namjoon and Jimin back to Namjoon’s own apartment on the other side of campus that Yoongi said anything about what had just happened in the grocery store to Seokjin, a blush across his nose and cheeks.

“Hey, hyung?” He asked, sticking his head around the door to their kitchen, seeing Seokjin in his pink, flowered apron standing over the sink, washing the pans from lunch earlier that day. Seokjin twisted his upper body to look over at Yoongi, leaving his hands in the sink, suds clinging to strong wrists and a bubble floating up to burst when it touched his hair.

“Yeah, babe?” He asked, his eyes warm and dark once again, not a single shred of the sharpness that had been present in the grocery store visible now.

“We didn’t get anything from the store,” Yoongi stated bluntly. “So I ordered a pizza. And by the way, when you’re being all strong-Alpha, it’s really sexy.”

Seokjin only blushed and turned back to the dishes, scrubbing at them with a newfound vigor.

“Just to be on the safe side, I’m going to start shopping somewhere else,” Yoongi called from the living area, switching on the TV to one of the oldest reruns of ER Turning the volume down on the TV until it was just muffled background noise, Yoongi spread his med-school notes in front of him and got to work.

Just like Seokjin had said, they were perfect for each other. Anybody who was outside of their friend circle would have thought that the roles were reversed, that Seokjin was the placid, complacent Omega and Yoongi was the brash, bossy Alpha, but Yoongi had his moments where he would just submit, eyes sliding closed as Seokjin wrapped an arm around his shoulders or laid a supporting hand on his waist.

There was something forming between the seven of them, Seokjin slowly refusing to back down from tiny, trivial arguments with either of the other Alphas, Jungkook and Namjoon conceding disputes to Seokjin. As time went on, it was becoming more and more clear that there was something much stronger than just friendship growing between them, but that?

            That’s another story.
