Work Text:

Katsuki is taking off his gauntlets when his phone dings with a new notification. He sees it’s Shouto and as he glances at the clock, he guesses his mate wants to know if he’s on his way back home.

Taking off his suit, he grabs a towel, throws it over his shoulder and grabs his phone as he starts to peel off his blockers from his neck. He’s starting to head to the shower when he stops abruptly as he reads the worrisome message his omega has just sent him.

>> you need to get back home as soon as possible

The thick scent of alpha in distress floods the locker room. It makes people outside the little room gasp at the sudden stench. One of the sidekicks in particular gags as terror freezes her. She’s been working with Bakugou and Todoroki for almost two years by now and the only time she has smelled something similar was last year when a pregnant Todoroki was thrown across the street by a villain and Katsuki had to witness it. The sudden reminder of that particular incident makes her move as she still remembers the devastating consequences that had: Katsuki was almost arrested and prosecuted because he went feral and almost killed the villain for harming his omega and his unborn pup.

“BOSS!”

Katsuki is buck-naked and still staring at his phone, totally frozen as the scent of panic is pumping out of his gland. It’s overwhelming, but the sudden appearance of his sidekick is enough to make him move.

“Shouto is in trouble! I need to go home.”

Slapping a hand over her eyes as Katsuki turns around, she raises the other hand and shrieks, “you can’t just go now, you’re still naked! Put on some clothes and then go!”

Katsuki growls but does so. As he rushes outside the locker room, heading straight to the closest window, he hears, “we’ll be right behind you, boss! No one touches our other boss!”

Blasting himself through the air, a little part of his brain is thankful he has such an amazing team having his back. Unfortunately, the vast majority of his being is sick with worry and rage at the prospect of what could have happened to Shouto and their son, Aki. The ominous message Shouto has sent him is playing on repeat and as he blasts himself through the air, he can’t stop imagining the worst scenarios taking place while he’s on his way.

It’s his duty as an alpha, as a mate and as a father to protect and take care of his family. The idea of either Shouto or Aki being harmed in any kind of way makes him sick.

He’ll never forgive himself if anything happens to any of them.

Landing on the patio of their house, Katsuki rushes to the window and slides it open with such brutality it bounces back and the glass shakes in the railings.

Shouto leaps to his feet, as he was crouched in front of the sofa, where Aki is sitting.

“Katsuki?!”

“Where is it?!” Running towards his family, he spins on his heels as he glances around the living room, trying to identify where the threat is.

He doesn’t see anyone or anything out of place.

The furniture is still intact and in perfect condition. The pictures that showcase their life together since they were teens are still hanging from the walls and all the trinkets their friends and family have gifted them through the years are still on the mantelpiece and shelves. Nothing is broken and there are no traces of an unfamiliar scent in the air. He can only smell his omega’s sweet scent and their pup’s soft one mixed with his own. That’s it.

“What the fuck?” He mumbles right before Shouto smacks him lightly on the chest.

“No cursing words, Katsu. Remember? You promised to hold back in front of Aki.”

“Yeah, yeah,” he replies automatically. Shouto squints at him and at his dismissive tone and Katsuki almost forgets why he has come in such a hurry as this feels so oddly familiar. “Wait. I mean it Sho, what’s wrong? The message ya sent me-”

“Oh, right. Aki has just laughed! It was his first laugh, Katsu. Our little boy is growing up and I didn’t want you to miss it, look, look.”

Grabbing Katsuki’s hand, he ushers him along until they are both kneeling on the floor, right in front of Aki, who is half-sitting on their couch, grabbing his left foot with both of his hands and pulling it towards his mouth. When their pup sees both his daddy and mommy, he smiles widely and makes a happy squeak that soon turns into a peal of soft laughter that melts Katsuki’s heart.

He stares dumbfounded at his son, feeling his stomach go all crazy as warmth spreads all over his body.

Aki’s laugh is bubbly and it sounds so pure and perfect, Katsuki could hear it for hours and never get tired of it. Aki keeps laughing and Katsuki’s face hurts from how hard he’s smiling.

Shouto leans against him and Katsuki shifts his body to accommodate him, wrapping an arm around his waist as he pulls him closer.

He kisses the top of his omega’s hair as pride pumps through his veins. This is his perfect family. His. The most perfect omega chose him as his mate and now they have an equally perfect pup that is the purest, cutest and most amazing son any parent could ever imagine having.

“Are you crying?” Shouto whispers.

Katsuki sniffles and denies it. “No. I rushed here so fast my eyes are watery from the wind.”

“I see.”

Biting Shouto’s neck, right over their mating bond, Katsuki hushes him as Aki observes them with his mismatched eyes. Katsuki’s heart squeezes again as he stares at how gleeful his son’s red and grey eyes are staring right back at him.

“I think I could die right now without any regrets.”

Shouto nods. “I know. But don’t you dare leave us.”

“Never,” he promises with a peck against his cheek. “I’d never leave either of you willingly.”

Shouto smiles and Aki’s laugh gets pitched.

They stay like that for what feels like hours and only a couple of seconds before their bubble of peace gets interrupted by a sudden commotion surrounding their house.

A chorus of ‘Boss! Bakugou! Todoroki! Where’s the villain, boss? Is Aki okay?’ Floats all over until it reaches their ears.

Shouto blinks and stares at him with a zillion questions in his mesmerising eyes.

“Huh…” Scratching the back of his neck, Katsuki clears his throat and purses his lips as he tries to come up with a subtle way of saying he has blown Shouto's message out of proportion. “I might have accidentally mobilised the whole agency into defcon one mode because you kinda scared me?”

Shouto stares at him, blinking profusely, before he scoffs and laughs. Aki imitates him, laughing along with Shouto in a sweet harmony that makes the alpha’s heart skip a beat.

Katsuki feels heat rising up to his cheeks as well, but it’s nothing compared to when Shouto smoothly pecks him on the lips and, with a teasing smile, whispers, “my overprotective alpha, always taking such good care of me. Of us.”

Flustered, Katsuki clicks his tongue before pulling him into a passionate kiss.

“Shut up, this is all your fault for being so ominous. Ya need to learn how to properly text, dumbass.”

Shouto snorts and kisses him sweetly all over his lips. “Oh, shush, you and I text the same.”

“Nah-ah, we totally don’t.”

Still exchanging kisses, Shouto and he argue about it, while Aki observes them with wide-open eyes and now sucking his thumb.

Someone enters the living room and Katsuki stiffens. His whole demeanour changes in the snap of a second as his hands start to heat up and his body switches into defence mode.

“Uh… boss? Is everything okay? Todoroki, are you alright?”

Shouto massages the alpha’s body before he glances over Katsuki’s shoulder and nods.

“Yes, everything is fine, Rinko. It was all a misunderstanding, I expressed myself wrongly and you know how Katsuki is.”

Their sidekick sighs and then laughs, relieved. “Oh, thank god. I’ll let everyone know then. We were all really worried, S-boss. B-boss was so out of it, we all feared the worst—”

“That’s enough,” grouses Katsuki. “Go back to the agency. Ya and all the monkey parade that is outside.”

He doesn’t need to look at Rinko to know she’s making a salute as she says, “Yes boss, bye boss. Byeeee, Aki-chan!”

Shouto waves goodbye at her before he detangles his body from Katsuki’s and, picking up their son, makes him wave too.

“Say goodbye to Rinko, Aki.”

Their pup smiles but keeps his eyes on the omega while his other hand tries to get a grasp at one lock of Shouto’s red hair.

Katsuki feels his heart melting even further.

Shouto looks down at Aki and a soft smile appears on his face. He’s always been one of the most beautiful people Katsuki has ever seen, but when he smiles, he looks a hundred times more dashing and breathtaking. Add their pup to the equation and Shouto acting all omega-like and you end up with an alpha whose drive is going wild.

“Change of plans, let’s get Rinko back here.”

Shouto tilts his head as he glances at Katsuki. “Why?”

“So she can look after Aki while we make another one. We should totally do that, yeah.”

Shouto rocks Aki and raises a brow with mirth overtaking his features. “Another pup, you say? I don’t know Katsuki, I think a four-month-old baby is enough for now.”

“Nah, with ya it’ll never be enough. C’mon, let’s go have some fun. I wanna have sex with you.”

Shouto shushes him and placing his hands over Aki’s ears, he playfully glares at Katsuki. “Don’t say those things in front of our baby. Bad Alpha.”

Katsuki growls at that. Now Shouto is teasing him. His omega only addresses him as Alpha in extreme situations or in bed.

Kissing their son’s head, Shouto hums as he starts to move. Katsuki doesn’t fail to notice how he’s swaying his hips as he does so.

Glancing over his shoulder, Shouto flutters his eyelashes and acting all doe asks him, “well, are you coming or not? It’s Aki’s nap time and I think we should hit the bed as well.”

For the second time in the day, Katsuki moves at the top of his speed to get to his omega and son… the situation is just slightly different now.
