Chapter Text
There are certain things in life that Kyungsoo finds hard to understand. things mostly like why people felt the the need throw themselves at him when they could converse with him from a distance or why certain people had claims over him when clearly they didn’t. he didn’t understand the people going crazy over him and certainly didn’t understand why he suddenly needed protection from a so called stalker.
“Look,” Kyungsoo sighed for the umpteenth time, his brows furrowed and his lips turned in a pout, “all i’m saying is i don’t get it.”
Jongdae, his manager cum best bud in the whole world (proclaimed by none other than Jongdae) looked at him incredulously as if he had grown two heads. "What part of 'you are being stalked' do you not understand my dear Kyungsoo?" He said with air quotes.
"This!" Kyungsoo answered by pointing at the stacks of newspapers and magazines all showcasing the same headlines of him getting stalked and how safety of celebrities was in danger etc. "I get what stalking means. I just don't get the hype about it."
"You think it's a hype?" Jongdae walked over and sat down in front of him before laying down multiple pictures of disembodied plushies of him covered in blood and multiple letters all saying how this person wished to abuse him to the point of death.
"This stalker wants you dead my friend and you think this is a hype?"
Kyungsoo could only stay mum. He knew what this person wanted. He wasn't blind. He just didn't understand the need to pay this stalker this much attention when they clearly craved it from him. Also, he didn't want someone so insignificant having this much impact on his life to the point where his manager and even his company has to monitor his whereabouts.
"I get what you mean, Dae," Kyungsoo answered with a sigh. "But I just don't get how getting a bodyguard would help me with anything."
"What's there to not get?" Jongdae leaned back in his seat and even though Kyungsoo could feel the hint of annoyance in his voice, he chose to ignore it. Jongdae was his manager cum best bud in the whole world, so it was a given that he would have to deal with his stubbornness sometimes (often).
"Look," Jongdae straightened up and leaned forward to Kyungsoo, his fingers interlocked. Kyungsoo knew it was his serious manager look and his patience was running thin. "I just started dating the man of my dreams and I need time to put some effort into it. Plus, I'm not a good fighter and I can't protect you 24/7. Also, the company demands you to have a bodyguard."
"Oh…" Kyungsoo nodded, with his mouth slightly open. He got it now. "So the company asked you to get me a bodyguard?"
"Yeah," Jongdae spluttered. "But I'm also worried about you, Soo,"
"This stalker followed you to the company basement, he comes to all your schedules and even went to your Busan apartment. It's only a matter of time before he shows up here!" Jongdae said, his voice clearly shaking from fear. "Just listen to me once. It's for the best."
Kyungsoo let out a huff of air as he leaned back in his seat and stared at Jongdae who looked really pale. He knew that this stalker or whatever followed him everywhere. He even followed him to the toilet once but luckily some guy caught him before he could break into his stall. He also knew that this stalker probably knew his address but was just stalling time to make sure that he had his guard down. He knew everything but he just found it unfair to let a stranger dictate his life this much.
But then he looked at Jongdae once again and saw how worried he looked. His parents back home were anxious to the point they called him multiple times a day. Even if he hated it, he needed to think about his closest people. Plus, Jongdae probably wasn't getting paid enough to worry this much about him. He seriously needed to have a word with his company about this man's raise.
"Fine." Kyungsoo uttered with a huff. "Get me whoever you think is the best. Just don't bother me about this anymore."
"Yes! Thank you!" Jongdae whooped as he padded away while typing something on his phone. He looked happier than that time Kyungsoo got him a paid vacation to Maldives. Guess having to not worry about your employer being alive certainly lightens your load.
Kyungsoo just hopes this new person doesn't get in the way of his life. He just wants to live his life in a calm manner and hopes that this new bodyguard respects that.
That's all he hopes for.
