I was Transported to Another World and became a Yuri Heroine!
Prelude
The scribe had to catch a wyvern flight out of the Capital to catch up with the Hero. Her shockingly sudden defeat of the terrifying Demon Lord had thrown the kingdom into a tizzy, and she was determined to get to the bottom of it. The Hero had already slain another monster out in a border town, so she was hoping to catch up with her there.
The tavern the Hero was staying in was, unexpectedly, brightly lit and airy. Unlike many city taverns the floor was well swept boards, with none of the usual sawdust or... other remnants of long nights and hard drinking. The staff was attentive and friendly, and she was quickly taken to the table where the Hero was.
Nor was the Hero quite what she had been expecting, either. The sandy haired, cheerful young woman was dressed in simple tunic and trousers, with a chain mail shirt over top. No fancy armor, no cape, not even a breastplate.
The Hero noticed where she was looking and shrugged. "They don't really make women's armor for someone with actual breasts..." she noted.
The scribe blushed, "Sorry, I didn't mean to stare."
"It's fine," the hero laughed.
After an exchange of introductions, the Scribe sat down and began to record her story.
"So, I was summoned here against my will by the High Priest to be the new 'Legendary Hero.' Which annoyed me at first, though I will admit my career back home as a Starbucks Barista wasn't exactly going gangbusters," Gabrielle admitted.
"Huh?" the scribe blinked
"Never mind. Anyway, they equipped me with the Hero's Sword, and I headed out to vanquish the Demon Lord," Gabrielle remembered.
"Hiii," the former Demon Lord waved cheerfully. The red head was very beautiful, with a shapely figure and attractive features. She was wearing what could generously be called light leather armor, tho it really amounted to a leather bikini.
The scribe waved back weakly. "How did this happen?" she asked the hero.
"Well, I fought a few of her minions, and after raiding one castle I fell into a portal leading to her chambers," Gabrielle revealed.
"You see, being the Demon Lord was really, REALLY boring," Devas revealed. "Oh, I fought Gabrielle as required in the Demon Lord manual, but my heart wasn't in it. Plus," she looked over at Gabrielle, "just LOOK at her. She's so handsome!"
Gabrielle blushed.
The scribe had to admit she really was cute... a nice combination of boyish features and womanly good looks. She shook her head and tried to get back on track. "So you surrendered to the Hero and abdicated the throne?" the scribe asked.
"Well, there was no other way to end it. And I wanted to get to know her better," Devas gave Gabrielle a look that could be described as 'sultry.'
"We kind of screwed up, though," Gabrielle admitted. "It seems that Devas as the Demon Lord was the only thing restraining her higher level minions. Once she quit, they scattered."
"Oh dear," the scribe paled
"And abdicating cost me a fair bit of Demon Lord specific powers," Devas admitted. "So I can't just force them to come back..."
"I kind of feel responsible since I caused Devas to abdicate...," Gabrielle admitted sheepishly.
"I was the one who decided to do so without considering the consequences," Devas reassured her, "It's not your fault."
"Anyway, so now we're trying to round up the lesser monsters together..." Gabrielle revealed.
"That sounds incredibly exciting... can I come along?" the Scribe asked eagerly.
Gabrielle and Devas exchanged looks. "While I've been alright so far, I can't really guarentee it will be safe," Gabrielle cautioned.
"I'm a scribe! We go where the story is!" the Scribe declared.
"Why not?" Devas shrugged.
"OK, you can come," Gabrielle agreed.
The scribe clearly had NO idea what she was in for...

"TENTACLES?! Why did it have to be tentacles?" Gabrielle yelped.
"NO ONE TOUCHES THE HERO THERE BUT ME!" Devas roared
The scribe face paled. "Overshare, ma'am. I did NOT need to know that."
"Too much information," Sinon the archer noted flatly.
"Thanks for the commentary. Really," Gabrielle sighed. "How about giving us a hand?" she asked as she slashed at the tentacles.
Both Sinon and the scribe clapped obediently.
"Oh, VERY funny..." Gabrielle said.
Scribe watched as Devas slashed as the thing with clawed hands. She could shape shift a bit, as well as fly, and had magic. On one hand she was kind of scarily powerful, but against the monsters they were fighting she was, at best, an equal.
"Look out," Sinon grabbed at the Scribe, yanking her back a bit.
"Thank you," Scribe smiled a bit sheepishly at her as a tentacle whipped by WAY too close.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
They had met Sinon in the elf village not too far from where they were standing. The village had reported another of the high level monsters nearby, a tentacled plant creature. Residents of the village needed the road the creature was blocking, as they were otherwise blocked in by rivers and a deep canyon.
(They had, incidentally, fought their way to the village through the monster infested canyons. Which had been hard to do for even the Hero and Devas. The scribe, basically, had just hid behind the two of them...)
"We'd normally just go around the thing, but there's no other route," the elven chief admitted. "So, we must humbly appeal for your help."
"Please, no bowing," the Hero noted uncomfortably. "We'd be glad to help."
"We could use a guide, though," Devas noted. "None of us know this area well."
"My daughter would be honored to help," he declared, pulling her forward.
"FATHER!" the blue haired girl yelped.
"Sinon, you are embarassing us in front of the Hero," the Chief sighed.
"You really shouldn't push her," the Scribe noted mildly from where she was writing notes on the meeting.
Sinon paused, looking at the scribe thoughtfully. She straightened slightly as she stated, "I'd be glad to help."
"Huh?" the Chief and the Scribe both blinked.
Devas just completely ignored that. "Well, glad that's settled," she said breezily, "let's go."
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
Sinon expertly fired another arrow into the writhing mass of tentacles. "How do we stop this thing?" she asked coolly.
Scribe, having regained her balance, used her walking staff to bat away a tentacle. "The Hero's Sword can banish lesser monsters, but they have to be weakened first," she revealed.
"Ah," Sinon said. "How much, weakened?" she wondered.
As they conversed, the tentacled monstrocity bled and writhed angrily. Devas swept in, ripping up some of it's mass, making it growl angrily.
"Try it now, Hero!" Devas called.
Gabrielle charged forward as the sword she was carrying began to glow brightly. "Banishment BLADE!" she yelled the attack as she swung.
There was a massive burst of light and the creature screamed in anger. But as the brightness faded the monster was gone, only leaving behind torn up earth and, sadly, elven remains.
"Eeep," Sinon made a soft sound.
Scribe moved forward to block her view, "I'm so sorry..."
Sinon smiled at her weakly, "Thank you."
Sinon and the scribe headed back to the village to report what happened, leaving Gabrielle and Devas there. Devas put a hand on Gabrielle's shoulder, "Don't beat yourself up over this."
"If we hadn't done what we did, these folks might still be alive," Gabrielle sighed.
"Or this might just be killing things somewhere else," Devas pointed out sadly. "I didn't have much control over monsters like this..."
Gabrielle patted Devas' hand, comforting her in return.
"Don't tell me you're having a moment when I'm not there to chronicle it!" Scribe protested as she hurried up with a group of elves.
"Trust me, we're going to have MANY moments you don't see," Devas noted archly.
Gabrielle blushed.
"Could you not, please," Sinon grumbled.
The elves cleaned up the remains, taking them back to the village for proper funeral rites and so on. "Thank you for your help," the chief bowed slightly to Gabrielle and Devas.
"Just doing my job," Gabrielle waved that off uncomfortably.
"Father," Sinon took him aside, "I want to travel with the Hero."
The Chief blinked a few times. "I didn't think she was your type...," he noted.
Sinon hit his shoulder, "Father!"
He laughed as he rubbed his arm, "You are an adult, you can do as you please," he noted. He added, "Be careful, though. Your mother will kill me if anything happens to you."
"Of course," Sinon hugged him quickly.
"She's coming along with us," Devas predicted.
"How do you know that?" Gabrielle asked innocently.
"She's hot for you," Devas deadpanned.
"Oh shut up," Gabrielle sighed.
Sinon trotted up as the group of women prepared to go. "I would like to come along," she told them firmly.
"Told you," Devas noted.
"Hush!" Gabrielle sighed.
"Huh?' Sinon blinked.
"Never mind that," Gabrielle told her. She continued, "I should say I'm with someone..."
"That's fine," Sinon strode by them and stood by the Scribe.
"Huh?" the Scribe blinked.
"Well, well..." Devas murmured, amused.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
"She... is touching MY DEVAS!"
The cavern was dark, and a figure sat on a stone throne as they gazed into a magic mirror.
"HOW DARE SHE!"
The battles were bad enough. But in PRIVATE?! The were actually KISSING. The horror!
"HOW DARE YOU SULLY MY DEVAS?!"
The black haired woman shattered the mirror with a single punch.
"For this... THE HERO MUST DIE!"
To be continued...
Notes: I will re-name Sinon once I can come up with a name I like. At least I'm not just calling her 'Archer' like over in Goblin Slayer.
Upcoming bit...
"Wait," the vampiric loli blinked, "you DON'T want to sleep with me?"
"No!" the Hero yelped.
Scribe, meanwhile, was trying JUST to look at the young girl's face and not her outfit. She was wearing just transparent gaze 'robes' along with thong panties and a tiny bra. She felt like she was violating child porn laws just LOOKING at her.
"You would not BELIEVE how many male adventurers hit on me," the loli noted.
Scribe HAD to ask, "Why are you dressed like that?"
"The same bastard who stopped my aging also cursed me to wear this," she explained with a sigh. "Sick fuck."
Gabrielle held up a hand, "Anyway, I ASSURE you I have no intention of sleeping with you. What's your name, miss?"
"Princess Lolita of the Under Kingdom," she sighed.
"You're kidding," Scribe blinked.
"Some god has a sick sense of humor," Lolita agreed.
Scribe noted that Lolita was scowling at Devas, tprobably due to the other woman having a much more 'womanly' figure. Devas seemed unbothered by it , thankfully.
"We actually need to travel through the Under Kingdom. Would you be willing to guide us?" Devas wondered.
Lolita looked dubious, "What's in it for me?"
"We're questing for items that belong to me as Demon Queen," Devas noted.
"Huh?" Lolita blinked.
"Long story," Scribe explained.
"Anyway, one of them can remove major curses. It could cure you," Devas said.
Lolita nodded thoughtfully, "Sounds interesting. Plus if I tag along with you, you can guard me from the creeps who keep trying to sleep with me..."
To be continued...
Notes: Just a short bit I wanted to get written so I didn't forget. One of the creepier things in manga and anime is the 'immortal loli' who is clearly underage but perving on them is justified because they're REALLY a thousand years old or something. Examples include Negima, Dance in the Vampire Bund and the recent anime Arifureta.

Two
Everyone watched bemused as the harpy and Devas fought in mid-air.
"This is like watching two women mud wrestling, without the mud," Gabrielle admitted as te two mostly nude women fought above them. Under her breath she muttered, "I just wish we had some popcorn too."
"Huh?" Scribe blinked.
"Nothing," Gabrielle waved it off.
Devas had lost most of her leather armor in the battle, and the harpy was basically nude too. So they were both 'hanging out' as it were. Luckily they were up in the mountains, reasonably far from any people who might want to watch.
"Could you shoot...?" Scribe looked at Sinon.
The elven archer shook her head. "They're too close and they're zig zagging all over the place," she said, "I'm a good shot, but I'd be as likely to hit Devas..."
"Well, she's very tough so...," Scribe suggested.
"Hey! No shooting my girlfriend!" Gabrielle scolded.
With an angry roar Devas managed to rip one of the harpy's wing's off, sending them both crashing to the earth. The harpy hissed and fought, clawing at Devas, but ultimately the other woman managed to pin her down.
"Now, hero!" Devas yelled.
"Banishment blade!" Gabrielle yelled as she swung.
The harpy howled, then in a burst of light disappeared.
"DEVAS!" Gabrielle cried in alarm as she raced to the woman's side.
"I'm fine, I'm fine," Devas reassured her, but she still seemed pleased when the other woman fussed over her.
Indeed, even as they talked the somewhat gory cuts and scrapes on her arms, chest and waist began to close up. She was still blood splattered, but the wounds themselves were all gone. Sadly, so where most of her clothes.
"Oooh, hero...," Devas purred, wiggling against her.
"Hey! Not in public," Gabrielle started.
"Oh poo," Devas pouted.
Blushing slightly at the public lewdness, the scribe unclasped her cloak and offered it to Devas. "This should help," she said.
Devas rose and kind of wound the cloak around her, making an improvised dress. "Thank you," she said with a smile.
"You're welcome," Scribe looked sheepish a bit in her simple tunic and long pants, backpack full of scrolls.
Sinon smiled as she let her gaze wander over the cute, boyish scribe, then got back to business. "Do you have spare armor?" she asked Devas.
Devas gestured to her cloak covered body, "Obviously, no."
Sinon rolled her eyes, "I mean, can you magic up some gear or...?"
"It would be awesome if you could twirl around and transform like a magical girl," Gabrielle noted thoughtfully.
"What." Scribe blinked at that odd mental image.
"Sadly my magic is not that convenient," Devas said wryly. She looked thoughtful, "One of the Keeps of the Demon Armies is nearby. We could raid it for supplies."
"Demon army? How badly outnumbered would we be...?" Sinon asked dubiously.
"No, no, it was abandoned when I resigned," Devas reassured them, "it's empty. Everything will be fine."
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
Everything was NOT fine.
"WHY IS THE KEEP FILLED WITH SLIMES?!" Devas yelled indignantly.
The good news, such as it was, was that the slimes were pretty weak, individually. Scribe could kill one with a blow from her staff. The problem was, there were so many of them!
"Huph!" Sinon grunted as she used a stick to clobber slimes. She was NOT wasting good arrows on these... things!
The hero's sword could destroy swathes of them at a time, but again, there seemed to be a ocean of the things. "This isn't normal?" Gabrielle asked Devas.
"No!" Devas growled as she claw slashed a group of slimes, making them explode. "I've never seen this many slimes."
"Okay!" Scribe said as she struck a slime, "Let's try to get to the armory where the stuff you want is, then just get out."
"Makes sense," Gabrielle agreed, "Devas, lead the way!"
Devas nodded as the four fought through waves of the blobby things. "At least they're not the exotic types... acid would suck," she noted.
"Don't SAY that. If one of them melts my clothes, I'm shooting you," Sinon noted.
Devas just laughed.
They fought their way down a hallway, then climbed up the stairs. The slimes seemed to mostly be congregated on the lower level, and they hurried up yet another floor, then to the back of the keep where their target was.
Scribe whacked a stray slime as they reached the armory. "So if your troops took off, what's to stop them from emptying this?" she asked.
Devas blinked. "NOW you have to suggest that?" Gabrielle sighed.
"Didn't think of it," Scribe admitted sheepishly.
"Well, even if the soldiers took the regular gear," Devas noted, "there is an inner vault that only high ranking demons can open."
The armory had, somewhat, been cleared out. Despite the empty racks Sinon found several bunches of high quality arrows, Gabrielle found better armor and Scribe got a replacement cloak with mild protective enchantments.
Devas replaced her leather undersuit with a new set, then opened up the inner door. "Everything's untouched," she noted.
Scribe peered inside. There was a bit of armor and a sword, but everything in the room felt enchanted. It was a odd sensation, but a adventurer (or bard) could identify it instantly.
"What are you going to...?" Gabrielle asked.
"Just new armor," Devas added armor breastplates over her leathers, along with arm guards and a metal belt, "and a better sword. Just in case." With the added bits she looked like some sort of deadly amazon... but also sexy as hell.
"Wow...," Gabrielle murmured.
"GET A ROOM, you two," Scribe sighed as they gazed into each other's eyes.
Sinon was arranging her added quivers as she asked, "Okay, now we get back out again?"
"Hopefully with less slimes this time," Gabrielle agreed.
As they ventured back out into the halls again Scribe asked, "Couldn't we just... go over the Keep walls at some point and avoid the slimes?"
"There are sheer cliffs on three sides," Devas shrugged.
"Who designed it like that?" Scribe had to ask.
"It's secure!" Devas said, basically admitting she had designed it.
Gabrielle just smiled faintly, "Let's backtrack, then."
As the four women hurried down the halls, they noted that the slimes, now, seemed to be running away from the entrance. Why, though?
Then Gabrielle just stopped, suddenly.
"What?" Devas asked.
"Do you feel it? It's like... a murderous aura. Coming from the entrance," Gabrielle said, clutching her sword.
Sinon drew her bow as she looked around worriedly. "I feel it too," she agreed.
"Well, there's only one way we can go so...," Scribe pointed out reasonably.
"We can handle whatever it is," Devas said confidently.
The group advanced as the deadly aura intensified. At the same time the slimes were rushing away from it, heading deeper into the Keep to apparently escape whatever it was. The group found themselves reaching the main hall, the murderous power nearly pushing them back...
"Hello!" the cheerful blonde waved, dressed in rustic clothes and wearing a witch's hat.
"What," all four blinked.
"I'm the Witch of the Highlands," the woman explained cheerfully, "you see, I was hunting slimes near my home, but they all ran away! So I followed them here."
'SHE is the one that drove all the Slimes to run here?!' Scribe thought. But... something about this pretty, somewhat ditzy woman was also very scary. It was like she was the ultimate natural enemy of slimes, or something.
"Ah." Devas replied, "Well, we'll just leave you to it. Good hunting."
"Thank you!" the Witch beamed, then turned to the fleeing slimes. That intensity just snapped on again, and they all felt a chill.
To be continued...
Notes: That's Azusa, the Witch of the Highlands from the novel series 'I've been killing Slimes for 300 years and maxed out my level.' A anime has been announced, too. Because the immortal witch has been hunting slimes so long, they sorta view her as a apex predator of slimes...

"But... I have a Smartphone!" the young man dressed in the white pimp coat said. "Girls LOVE the Smartphone!"
"GET AWAY FROM MY GIRLFRIEND!" Devas yelled.
"Hey!" Elze yelled, her sister Linze beside her as they shielded Touya.
Yae, the swords woman, was fighting Gabrielle, but was having real trouble, her normal katana not managing well against a magic sword.
The Scribe QUICKLY suggested, "Maybe we should just... go our seperate ways?"
"Devas, we don't need to fight them," Gabrielle agreed, backing off from Yae cautiously.
Devas scowled, but accepted that. Though she kept herself between the guy and her party... he really was frighteningly powerful in magic.
"You have NO taste," Elze added as the group hurried off.
"Well, that was a thing..." Sinon noted.
(They had heard rumours that Smartphone-guy was one of the escaped demons they were chasing. Apparently not.)
"Sorry," Scribe apologized, "he SOUNDED demonic."
"Not your fault," Gabrielle waved it off.
Devas looked less happy, but she let it go. Despite being a former Demon Lord she had no reliable way to track down her former subjects. So they were stuck chasing down possible sightings.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
"Pay the toll and I'll let you cross," the huge female minotaur ordered from her shed beside the bridge, sounding somewhat bored.
"Taura?" Devas blinked in surprise at her former minion.
"Hey, boss!" the nearly ten foot tall woman waved. "What's shaking?"
"What are you doing charging tolls?" Devas asked.
"It's traditional!" Taura protested. "Besides, the bridge was a wreck when I arrived."
Indeed, the stone bridge was in fine shape, and looked nearly brand new.
Scribe checked the report they got from the local lord, "Is it true you're killing people who try to cross without paying?"
"WHAT." Taura blinked. "Are you kidding? Doing that gets over-eager heroes sent after you to kill you."
Gabrielle kind of hid her sword behind her.
"So what does happen?" Scribe had to ask.
"I refuse them passage. If they get really pushy, I chuck them in the river," Taura shrugged.
"Oh," Scribe realized what was up.
"What's going on?" Sinon frowned.
Scribe frowned, "I think the local lord is not happy about this legal toll bridge, and hoped we'd solve the problem for him."
"Bastard," Gabrielle scowled.
"Agreed," Sinon nodded. "Is there anything we can do?" she asked.
"As the 'Chosen Hero' I met the king once. We could send a letter saying what his minion tried to pull," Gabrielle suggested.
"I'll help you write it," Scribe agreed.
"So is anyone going to stab, kill or banish me?" Taura asked wryly. "I hate the suspense."
"No, I think you're okay," Gabrielle said sheepishly.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
Later, in another part of the kingdom...
"Wait a minute. You're TEN YEARS OLD?" Scribe asked.
"Well, yes," Negi admitted.
"And ALL THESE TEENAGERS are chasing you?" Scribe clarified.
"Uhm, yes?" Negi conceded.
Even Devas looked appalled. The band of teen aged harem-ettes looked sheepish, apparently not having considered the unfortunate implications.
The girl with wings raised a hand as she said, "I'm not involved in that, I'm just here guarding my lady, Konoka."
"Setsuna!" Konoka sighed, clutching her arm.
Ayaka Yukihiro sniffed as the blond said, "There's nothing WRONG with liking young boys."
There was a LONG beat of silence.
"I am summoning child protective services...," Gabrielle said flatly, Devas nodding.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
The 'giant snake' they were looking for ended up being a lamia. A very annoyed lamia at that.
"YOUUUU..." he glared at Devas in pure loathing.
"I take it you know him?" Scribe asked.
"DIE!" he roared, slithering across the ground quickly as he raced at Devas.
"Yes, she knows him," Sinon agreed as she fired arrows into his body. Annoyingly, she shafts just snapped, breaking against his scales.
Gabrielle swung her magic sword, but barely put a dent into it. "Ooof!" she grunted.
Devas took the blow on her crossed arms, sliding backwards. "Well, Shinmai, as angry as ever," she noted calmly.
Shinmai hissed angrily, "You locked me underground a thousand years!"
"Because you kept killing everything you met!" Devas shot back.
The two demons fought furiously, raining blows down on each otner. The lamia's clawed hands would have torn a human to ribbons, but Devas stood up to him well. At the same time his scales were effective armor, too.
"I will kill you and never be bound again!" Shinmai yelled.
Sinon was watching the scales flex. "A gap," she exclaimed and fired off arrows, plunging them into a break in the scales on his lower back.
"Argh!" he yelped in pain.
Devas seized the opening, hammering him repeatedly. "He's weakened!" she yelled.
"Banishing Blade!" Gabrielle cried, slasing as the sword blade glowed.
With a anguished cry the lamia disappeared, banished back to the demon realm.
"Is everyone okay?" Scribe demanded, readying the medicine bag.
"Just banged up a bit," Devas admitted, but everyone was checked over.
"You locked him up a thousand years?" Sinon asked curiously.
"He killed anything he met, human or demon," Devas admitted, "and I didn't want to just kill him so..."
"You spared him out of kindness?" Gabrielle asked.
"No, he'd be a useful weapon if there was a human/demon war," Devas noted dryly.
"I keep forgetting you were a villain," Scribe said.
Devas just grinned at that.
"All right, let's let the nearby villages know the monster is gone," Gabrielle said briskly.
"And I'll put in my latest reports to the guild," Scribe added.
"Are your reports why everyone knows who we are?" Sinon asked, looking at Scribe warmly.
Scribe blushed faintly. "That and songs spread by bards," she agreed, "I understand songs about Devas and Gabrielle are very popular."
"I'd rather read what you create," Sinon purred.
Scribe blushed even brighter...
To be continued...
Notes: This is sort of a 'magical crossover universe' basically. Don't think about the canon too hard, or you'll give yourself a headache.
Just finished 'In Another World with My Smartphone.' Not bad actually, though it's very generic. This is set early on in that series.
I actually liked Negima, but yes there's some REALLY unfortunate implications there.
Didn't realize the chapter was THAT short. Next bit should be longer.

Four
"Wait, you're a goblin and you don't want to rape us?" Scribe blinked as the group interrogated a captive monster.
"What?" the captive goblin looked offended, "Ewww."
"I thought all goblins did that," Sinon mused.
"No," Devas noted, "just the ones who come from the depths. The surface goblins reproduce non-sexually."
"Huh?" Scribe asked.
"We eats. We get full. We split in two," the Goblin explained.
"Oh. Just like bacteria," Gabrielle noted, though no one else understood what she meant.
"So even if I posed sexy, they'd just go 'what'?" Sinon noted.
"Basically. They just don't care," Devas said. "Though someone who's as flat as you can't really do sexy..."
Sinon just ignored that.
"Well, they're still attacking villages, even if not raping," Scribe noted. "So we still have to stop them. Miss Hero?"
"Banishment Blade!" Gabrielle sent the captive goblins away.
"We defeated the goblin camp, and I didn't see any in the woods," Sinon noted. She was an excellent tracker as well as an archer. If she said there were no goblins, it was likely true. "So, what next?" she asked.
"Go report to the village elder," Scribe noted. "Also, I need to figure out how to write this up for the scrolls..."
"I'm looking forward to us resting tonight," Devas murmured as she cuddled Gabrielle, who blushed.
"I'm not expecting them to get much rest," Sinon noted to Scribe.
Scribe blushed.
Sinon brushed her hand over Scribe's, "Maybe you and I could...?"
Scribe went pinker.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
Wolves howled in the distance.
"Father!" the princess sighed, "I'm scared."
King Homuru sighed, the grizzled old man sitting in a chair, in the dining hall of his Keep. "Easy, daughter... the wolves can't break in."
"But it's been WEEKS! Howling and prowling outside! Make them go away!" she weeped.
Homuru silently wished for a brave, heroic daughter, like the Hero Gabrielle. Instead, he had Sasuki, who hid and cried whenever danger came.
"More wine, my lord?" one of the knights offered.
"No, but thank you, Sirius," Homuru said wryly.
Homuru sighed. He was being harsh, he supposed. And it was deeply unpleasant, dealing with the howling and such.
"We should hunt all the wolves down!" young Tyrest demanded.
"We don't have the long spears..." Sirius started.
Sasuki murmured. "None of the maids complained about your long spear."
Sirius ignored that as he continued, "or the heavy nets needed. Trying to fight them with just swords is folly."
"Coward," Tyrest scowled.
"No, just not stupid," Sirius answered dryly.
"No fighting, boys," the old guard captain scolded them. She looked at the king, "I suggest locking up the keep, and issuing everyone extra wine rations. Maybe we can get drunk enough to sleep through the howling."
"Ha! A wise suggestion," Homuru admitted.
"Yes! Wine!" several others agreed.
Beer and wine was poured, drinking was done and eventually much of the keep slept...
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
"So, the wolves only come at night?" Gabrielle clarified as they took a wagon through the woods.
(Being a 'Hero' usually meant they could hitch a ride wherever. In this case they were borrowing a trader's wagon, in exchange for guard duty. Travellers had been jumped a few times, on this road...)
"Yes. But there's no sign of them in daylight, no tracks, and no trace of a den," Scribe noted.
"So it's supernatural," Devas noted.
"Or they're awful at tracking," Sinon had to point out.
"Ha," Gabrielle conceded that. She looked over at the elf, "Can you...?"
"I'll check for wolves when we get there," Sinon agreed, "but it's likely the tracks have already been obscured."
"So we'll have to wait until the wolves appear," Scibe nodded thoughfully.
"We couldn't go out after them tonight...?" Gabrielle offered.
"In the dark, with no spears or nets, outnumbered?" Sinon drawled.
"Okay, not a great plan," Gabriellle conceded.
"We could manage," Devas said confidently.
"As much as dying heroically fighting wolves sounds good, I'd rather not," Scribe noted.
"Spoil sport," Gabrielle teased.
"We're getting close to North Keep," the driver called.
They were in the far north, and a light dusting of snow was on the ground. The trees were bare of leaves, and looked eerily skeletal around them. The wind chilled them all...
Well, except for Devas, who lounged in her enchanted armor. "What?" she smiled and explained, "I'm hot blooded."
"I could have told you that," Gabrielle murmured.
The wagon rolled into the cleared area around the keep, coming up to a fortified gate. There was a staked, wooden fence surrounding the building.
"Welcome," the surly man on guard sighed.
"We are the Hero's Party, here to see the Duke," Scribe told him.
"Ah," the man visibly brightened. "Go on in."
As they neared the keep itself, Devas frowned slighly as she looked around.
"Something wrong?" Gabrielle asked.
"I can feel residue of something magic," Devas said. "And its strong."
"The wolves?" Scribe asked, "Or something else?"
Devas paused then admitted, "I'm not sure."
Gabrielle nodded, "Everyone, keep a eye out."
The wagon came to a stop, and the four hopped out as servants rushed to unload supplies. At the same time a well dressed man strode up to the group.
"I am Sebastian," he bowed slightly, "m'lord's steward. Please follow me inside."
As they walked to the main doors, Sinon was examining the snow covered ground. "If there were any wolf tracks, they've been covered up by people going out," she told Gabrielle.
"So we'll have to go out tomorrow morning, as expected," Gabrielle noted quietly.
The Keep had the feel of a smaller territory, away from the capital. It wasn't ornately decorated, and the internal feel was more practical. There were a LOT of suits of armor out on display, along with weapons and such.
The group reached the main hall, where a page announced, "Now entering: The Hero Gabrielle! Demon Lord Devas! Elven archer Sinon! And Scribe Alyssande Sugardrop the Third."
All three party members looked at Scribe in surprise.
"THAT is why I just ask people to call me Scribe," she sighed.
"I think it's cute," Sinon smirked.
Lord Homuru listened to that with amusement. He stood as he said, "Welcome to North Keep. We appreciate your help."

Notes: I'm kind of REALLY tired of Goblin Slayers' 'Always Chaotic Evil Rape Machine' Goblins. It's just icky.
Dipping into a bit of heroic fantasy. Will (probably) finish up that bit next chapter.

"So, King Homuru, you think the wolves are supernatural?" Gabrielle the Hero asked.
"Apparently. They only appear at night, there are no tracks leading away from the keep...," the older man shrugged.
"We will go out an investigate once night falls, then," Gabrielle nodded.
"Hopefully I can track them," Sinon murmured.
Devas smiled coldly, "What is there to eat and drink? We must be ready for tonight!"
Homuru gave the demon lord a look, but nodded. "A repast has been prepared," he told them, "in our dining hall."
"Yes!" Devas cheered.
Scribe facepalmed.
Sebastian lead them to the food, bowing respectfully. "Please, enjoy," he said politely.
As Scribe joined in the eating, she felt a gaze on her. She looked around covertly, and saw the Princess Sasuki looking at her intently. 'Why though?' she wondered.
Sinon also noticed, and moved possessively nearer to Scribe.
Several of the nights had followed them in, and honestly looked a bit surly at needing the Hero's help. "I don't know why we need you," Sirius asked bluntly.
Gabrielle calmly met his eyes and said, "Do any of you have a magic holy sword that banishes monsters?"
Sirius grunted.
Tyrest, a younger knight, seemed less cranky. "Will you need any assistance tonight?" he asked them politely.
"It would be helpful to have someone who knows the area," Devas admitted.
Sinon frowned, "I don't need...,"
Scribe patted her arm as she said, "You're an excellent tracker, but locals can help too."
Sinon pouted slightly but nodded.
Scribe noticed Princess Sasuki get up and quietly leave the dining hall. 'Odd,' she mused, 'Please let her not be a fan.'.

One of the giant wolves jumped at Gabrielle, snarling angrily. She intercepted it with her sword and it just disappeared.
"I thought you had to banish them?" Scribe asked.
"Yes. What...?" Gabrielle looked at Devas.
"They're not real wolves, but magical summons," Devas slashed another with her claws.
"Summons?" Tyrest asked, "You mean someone did this to us?"
"Apparently," Devas agreed.
Scribe smashed a wolf over the head with her staff. Another blow 'killed' it.
"Sinon! No tacks, right?" Gabrielle confired.
Not sounding hugely happy about it Sinon confirmed, "No tracks. The paw prints just appear at one point."
"As expected," Devas agreed.
"Can you tell what brought these here?" Tyrest asked.
"Not me," Gabrielle admitted, "Devas?"
"Yes, but I'd have to be close," Devas admitted. "And as I wasn't looking, I'll have to start from scratch looking around the Keep."
"You think it was one of us?" Tyrest asked, scandalized.
"Who else is around here to do it?" Gabrielle pointed out reasonably.
"Aye," he conceded.
Sinon, from behind the fighters, was firing off arrows with deadly accuracy. She seemed to really like shooting through the eyes into the skull.
Scribe beat another wolf dead with her staff as she asked him, "Did no one go out when they first appeared?"
Tyrest looked sheepish as he said, "They looked like real wolves. Wolves that were twice the size as normal..."
"All right, fair enough," Scribe agreed.
Devas and Gabrielle beat the last of them, then they waited to see if more popped up. "All clear?" Sinon asked.
"Now we need to go back to the Keep and look for whomever cast this," Devas noted.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
"May we speak with you privately, King Homura?" Gabrielle asked once they returned victorius to the Keep.
"Certainly," the older man lead them to a private office behind the throne room. "If it's a reward you wish to discuss...?"
"We have a problem," Gabrielle held up a hand to stop him. "Devas?" she asked.
Devas calmly explained how the wolves around the Keep had been actually summons, magic creations that looked like wolves.
Homura looked at them, appalled. "Someone did this to us?" he asked.
"Yes. And it was likely someone in the Keep," Devas said.
Homura frowned, "It couldn't be a nearby rival?"
"It would have to be nearby," Devas admitted. "Unless you have a enemy literally lurking out in the nearby forest?"
"I see," Homura said. "Can you find who did this?"
"We'll do our best sir," Gabrielle said firmly.
"Now what do I tell my subjects?" Homura sighed.
"We defeated them, but there's a chance they could return. So we're staying a extra day," Scribe suggested.
"Clever," Homura agreed. In fact that was pretty much what he said.
They entered back out into the throne room, then walked to a quiet spot in the corner. "So how do we do this?" Sinon asked.
"Using powerful magic leaves a residue, basically," Devas explained. "I should be able to sense it on the culprit."
"So we have to look at everyone in the keep," Gabrielle noted dubiously.
"At least it's only a hundred people," Scribe offered.
"Oy," Sinon sighed.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
They started with the servants, something Gabrielle objected to. "Why assume the poor working folks did this?"
Devas ignored that, knowing how often plots started with servants.
"I think that chambermaid wants Gabrielle," Scribe noted.
Sinon looked at her blankly, having seen the busty wench nearly flash Scribe. 'Then again, her cluelessness is part of what makes her cute,' she sighed.
The kitchen staff and grooms all checked out too.
"That just leaves the knight and nobles," Devas frowned.
They entered the main hall again, where many knights and nobles were still celebrating their 'victory.' They swept the room, but no one stank of used magic.
"Father, I still think we should abandon the Keep. The wolves will return!" Princess Sasuki was talking to her father as they entered the room.
"I trust in the Hero," King Homura replied.
"Oh fuck," Devas blurted.
"What?" Gabrielle asked.
"It's the princess. She's the magic user," Devas said, seeing the remaints of magic around her.
"Really?" Scribe blinked.
"What do we DO?" Sinon demanded.
"Tell the king," Gabrielle said firmly, leading the way.
Princess Sasuki looked up, and she seemed to sense there was trouble. She gestured, and magic flared as two normal sized wolves appeared.
"WHAT...?" King Homura yelped.
"Kill them!" Sasuki ordered, the crowd in the hall screaming and running.
Luckily two wolves, even magic ones, weren't a problem for Gabrielle and Devas.
"Why did you do this?" Scribe asked Sasuki once she was restrained.
"I wanted Father to leave here," Sasuki grumbled.
"Why?" Sinon followed up.
"Have you looked outside?!" Sasuki yelped. "It's snowy and dark eight months out of twelve! There's no one near to court! I WANT TO GO SHOPPING!"
"Oh...," Gabrielle felt a faint bit of sympathy.

Scribe watched in a certain degree of stunned disbelief as the ogre hammered at the young woman, but seemingly couldn't hurt her. The mostly black armor looked formidable, but somehow even striking her bare head did nothing!
Devas blinked, "The cursed Black Rose armor!"
"Cursed?" Scribe asked her.
"It reduces all your other abilities to zero," Devas explained to them, "but it also makes you completely invulnerable."
While the monsters were distracted attacking her, another woman, using twin knives, attacked and slaughtered the ogres, dodging every blow. She fought like a dancer, dodging and weaving gracefully then attacking powerfully.
"I don't think they need any help," Sinon the Archer noted wryly.
The two women noticed them, and they watched as the armored girl SLOWLY walked towards them. Apparently the armor curse even crippled her natural walking speed. Her friend walked along with her, smiling wryly.
"Hello! I'm Maple!" the girl beamed cheerfully.
"Sally," the other woman said a bit warily.
"I was watching that thing hit you," Scribe had to ask, "are you all right?"
"I'm fine! Totally fine!" the black clad girl beamed as she explained, "My armor protects me from everything."
"It's cursed, though," Devas noted, "have you tried to remove it?"
"She can't," Sally sighed, "which let me tell you is VERY inconvenient."
Both Sally and Maple blushed.
"Oh HO," Sinon murmured.
"I'm sorry to say I don't think my Magic Sword can help," Gabrielle admitted, "not without hurting you, anyway."
"It's okay," Maple shrugged, "I'm happy just being able to protect my teammates."
"Speaking of teammates, we should go meat Kasumi and the others," Sally noted.
"Right!" Maple nodded.
Without another word Sally swiftly picked up the other girl, then jogged off much faster than Maple could walk.
"Well, that's a thing," Scribe murmured.
"All right, we're heading for Crimonia to look into that demon bear we head about," Gabrielle said seriously.
"Let's go," Devas agreed.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
Most cities in this country had Adventurer's Guilds, which came in handy. You could go in and receive monster hunting quests, claim rewards and so on. They also, generally, were pretty good sources of local gossip.
"Welcome!" the clerk at the desk smiled, "My name is Helen. How can I help you?"
"Hello," Scribe smiled, "we're looking into stories of a demon bear..."
"Demon bear?" Helen repeated, the oddest look on her face.
"Demon bear?" a adventurer behind them murmured.
"The Bloody Bear is at it again."
"I mean, I could totally see the Bear being a demon..."
The teller just ignored that as she said, "Well, yes we have a bear adventurer. I wouldn't call them a demon though."
A background adventurer snorted loudly.
Helen continued, "You're not going to hurt them, are you?"
"If they're not a demon, it should be fine," Scribe answered.
Helen nodded, though she still looked a bit dubious. "Well, the bear comes in once a day to check the quest boards, and hasn't been in yet, so..."
"We'll wait then," Scribe said.
"I've been talking to a few adventurers, the bear is supposed to be pretty scary," Sinon noted.
"Yeah, they apparently beat down other adventurers, and is very powerful magically too," Gabrielle said, nodding.
"So she could be one of my escapees," Devas noted.
"Or... possibly not," Sinon noted, seeing someone enter the building.
The figure was actually sorter than any of them... and was dressed in an odd looking baggy, bear styled garment.
"It's bear pajamas," Gabrielle blurted.
"Miss Yuna!" Helen called, "These people were looking for you."
The young woman looked at them a bit warily but said, "Hello, my name's Yuna. How can I help you?"
Everyone exchanged awkward glances. "You wouldn't happen to be a Demon Bear, would you?" Devas asked.
Yuna blinked, "That's a new one. No, not at all."
"I wonder how that rumour started," Gabrielle sighed.
"Well, some guys tried to bully me when I first became an adventurer," Yuna admitted, "so I beat them up. And that kind of got exaggerated in the re-tellings..."
"And she defeated a hundred goblins AND a goblin king," one adventurer added.
"And the forty foot long black viper."
"And the Kraken."
Everyone kind of looked at Yuna, who shrugged. "I keep busy," she said simply.
"Anyway," Devas nodded, "you're not one of my demons, and therefore not our problem."
"Demons?" Yuna asked, curious.
Scribe explained about the demons fleeing the demon kingdom and their attempting to round them all up.
"I... might have killed one of them," Yuna admitted after a moment, "I was actually bringing it in to have someone identify it."
They went outside and Yuna took the monster out of her magic storage.
"How did that even FIT?" Scribe blurted, looking at the massive giant.
"Yup, it's one of mine," Devas said with a twinge of regret. "He was a good guard... I guess once he was up here, he didn't know what else to do but fight."
"He did attack me first," Yuna felt the need to say.
"Thank you for stopping it," Gabrielle told her.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
"Wait, you're NOT going to write up Yuna for your chronicles?" Sinon blinked.
"Yes," Scribe admitted.
"Because she doesn't want to be famous," Sinon clarified.
"Yes," Scribe repeated.
"BUT SHE RUNS AROUND IN THAT BEAR OUTFIT?" Sinon blurted, exasperated.
Scribe just shrugged helplessly.
"Ugh," Sinon stalked off.
The group was in an inn in Crimonia, as they were in town anyway, they decided to be comfortable. They would set out the next day, as the mountains not far away supposedly had 'demonic' monsters. It was worth checking anyway.
"Can we retire to our room, soon?" Devas purred. "I'm looking forward to us sleeping comfortably."
"Not that I expect much sleeping," Gabrielle noted.
Devas just smirked.
"Keep the noise down though," Sinon noted as she passed where they were sitting in the common room of the inn.
"No promises," Devas chuckled.
"You know, I wonder if Yuna is from where I came from?" Gabrielle mused aloud. "The bear pajamas look like something from home."
"Other people in your world wear that?" Sinon tried to imagine Gabrielle in them.
"Yes, but just to sleep..," Gabrielle noted.
"Aww," Devas pouted. "You'd be cute!"

Chapter Eight
"Can we stick around here a bit? The food is SO GOOD!" Gabrielle exclaimed, the group having visited the Bear Lounge for lunch.
"Did you notice both places are owned by the Bear Girl?" Sinon noted mildly.
"Yeah. Weird," Devas agreed.
Scribe shook her head ruefully. Before she could comment, they saw Helen from the Adventurer's Guild enter the common room, then head towards them.
"Trouble," Sinon muttered.
"Thank goodness you're still here!" Helen said, "There's been another demon sighting, towards the eastern end of the realm."
"Vacation's over, I guess," Gabrielle sighed. She addressed Helen, "Can we get a map?"
"Certainly!" Helen nodded.
"I'd like to buy some supplies before we go," Scribe added quickly.
"Sure," Gabrielle nodded, "meet you at the Adventurers' Guild?"
"Certainly," Scribe agreed as the young woman hurried off.
"Hopefully things will at least be interesting," Devas noted as the rest followed Helen.
It turned out it WAS one of Devas' former servants, a huge lizard man. They defeated it reasonably quickly, then moved on...

"You BOUGHT this slave girl?" Gabrielle growled, fingering her sword.
"Uh...," the 'Shield Hero' backed away nervously.
"Actually, all Naofumi's companions are slaves," Melty noted.
"WHAT." the girls chorused.
The tanuki girl, Raphtalia, quickly jumped in to defend him, "It's a little more complicated than that! Really!"
The heroines listened rather dubiously as she explained the slave enchantments increased the girls' ability to level up.
"Naofumi helped us alot! Plus he grooms me!" the cute bird girl added.
All the girls looked at Naofumi. "Not THAT way!" he blurted. "Really!"
"I still think we should kick his ass," Devas growled. Gabrielle, Sinon and Scribe all nodded their heads grimly.
"PLEASE don't," Melty sighed as she added, "of the four Legendary Heroes we summoned to save our kingdom, he's the only competant one."
Naofumi winced, "That sounds awful."
Melty shrugged, "Truth is truth."
"All right," Gabrielle decided, "we won't kill or beat you."
Scribe, Sinon and even Devas looked unhappy.
"BUT," Gabrielle said, "you will release all of them once you complete the task you were summoned for." She added, "Or you'll answer to us."
"Yes ma'am!" the Shield Hero nodded vigorously.
"Nice meeting you," the tanuki girl waved as they left.
"I REALLY do not like just letting him go," Devas muttered.
"Coming from a former Demon Queen...," Sinon noted.
"Even demons don't keep slaves," Devas said flatly.

And sometimes Gabrielle felt like a side character in someone else's story.
"WHERE IS HATSUMI?" the black haired girl growled, weilding an actual glowing katana.
"Eve," the extremely busty blonde in a witch outfit corrected.
"Whichever," the woman sighed.
There was a third woman with a staff, who was holding off Devas with glowing forcefields, oddly enough.
Gabrielle parried the glowing katana with her Hero's Sword, blinking as both flared magically.
"Hazuki! That's Yama Yama energy!" the blond witch noted.
Gabrielle had no idea what THAT meant, either.
"Where is my sister!" Hazuki swung at her again.
"UGH," the staff weilding mage grunted as Devas fought to reach her, "I can't hold her off much longer."
"Can you get their attention?" Scribe asked Sinon, nodding to the two swords women.
Sinon gracefully drew her bow, and sent arrowes whizzing by BOTH Gabrielle and the mystery woman's faces.
"Ack!" both women jerked back.
"WE DO NOT HAVE YOUR SISTER!" Scribe yelled. She paused and added more normally, "In fact we have no idea who that is."
The katana girl lowered her sword slightly, "Really?"
"No idea," Gabrielle agreed.
"But you all have Eve's energy on you," the busty witch noted.
"Lilith can track Eve by her energy," the staff mage noted.
"What does this Eve look like?" Scribe asked reasonably.
"She's Lilith's sister, blond haired too but long and straight," Hazuki said.
"Oh hell," Gabrielle realized.
"What?" Hazuki demanded.
"We encounted her a few days ago," Gabrielle admitted, "she just disappeared on us, and all four of us were kinda bathed in a weird green glow."
"Quill?" Hazuki asked the mage.
Quill waved her staff, then seemed to consult something. "Yes, they're registering the residual energies from Eve's passage between universes."
"oh, come on!" Lilith yelped, stomping her foot.
Hazuki sighed as she told Gabrielle, "Sorry for the whole attacking you, thing."
"If someone close to me vanished, I'd be attacking folks too," Gabrielle noted.
"Come on, let's go," Lilith pouted as Quill was apologizing to Devas.
"Good luck," Gabrielle called as the women disappeared.
"THAT was a waste of time," Devas sighed.
"Thank you for breaking up the fight, by the way," Gabrielle told Sinon. "I kind of lost my head a bit, there."
"I think you're a little TOO into it," Sinon noted.
"Heh heh heh," Gabrielle laughed uncomfortably.
"Come on, then," Devas sighed, "there's demons to hunt."
The four women found the small town not long after running into the four dimensional travellers. As the sun was setting, they decided to look for an inn.
"Welcome to the Dukedom of Claes," the gate guard smiled at them then asked, "you are Adventurers?"
"More or less," Gabrielle smiled warmly.
"Well, you'll probably be bored. The local knights watch over us," the guard noted, waving them in.
"Knights, huh?" Sinon murmured.
They soon found a reasonably nice inn, and the group chatted up the bartender. He poured them drinks as he explained, "Yes the daughter of our noble Duke is a Holy Paladin. She also has several heroic companions."
"Paladin? Urk," Devas muttered quietly.
"Problem?" Scribe asked quietly.
"Paladins and my kind don't get along well," Devas murmured. "Hopefully this won't be a problem..."
"If so, we'll protect you," Gabrielle promised.
Before anything else could be said, the tavern doors swung open, and a attractive brown haired woman in light armor entered. "Good evening, everyone!" she called out cheerfully.
"Good evening, Lady Claes," the crowd called back warmly.
"Paladin Katarine Claes," the bartender told them cheerfully.
"What," Devas blinked.

Chapter Nine
"Do you know anything about this Paladin, Katarina?" Gabrielle asked the others as they sat at the inn.
Scribe nodded, "She's nearly as famous as you, actually."
"No," Devas looked offended by that idea.
Scribe just ignored that comment. "The Paladin Katarina is somewhat legendary for not killing any of her opponents, but stopping any villains who attack the region. She also has won over certain enemies," she said.
"Really?" Sinon asked, interested.
"Hmm. The Dark Magus Mary Hunt and the Albino witch Sophia Ascart both joined her band after they fought her," Scribe explained.
"So, she's a harem protagonist too?" Gabrielle mused aloud.
"Huh?" the others blinked.
"Never mind," Gabrielle waved that off.
As they had been talking, the Paladin Claes had taken a table in a corner, and had three beautiful women sitting with her. One was a ... well endowed redhead in a low cut gown, another with silver hair and ruby red eyes, and a third who was a strikingly pretty blond.
"That's Hunt and Ascart, right?" Sinon murmured to Scribe. "Who's the other woman?" she asked her.
"Lady Maria Campbell, a high priestess," Scribe noted. She added, "She's a powerful 'faith' based healer."
"Here's hoping we don't end up fighting them," Devas sighed.
"You think that's likely?" Gabrielle asked.
"A Paladin AND a Priest?" Devas snorted. "Of course there will be a fight."
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
"We'd be happy to have your help," Paladin Claes beamed.
Devas blinked in surprise. "Really?" she started.
"Of course! You're the Hero with the Demon Banishing sword!" Paladin Claes continued "We've heard of you, too."
Gabrielle blushed slightly, "Ah, thank you."
Amusingly, all three of her companions were scowling at them jealously. "Katarina's doing it AGAIN," Sophia muttered/
"I KNOW," Mary Hunt groaned.
Maria Campbell just looked long-suffering.
"And please, call me Katarina," she added sunnily.
"AHEM," Mary Hunt cleared her throat.
"Could we spar?" Katarina ignored that as she addressed Gabrielle. "I rarely get to fight really good swordswomen. Just icky guys."
"Well..." Gabrielle hesitated, but couldn't bring herself to say no.
They ended up fighting with wooden swords outside the inn, as the sun was setting outside. Gabrielle was a bit startled at how GOOD of a fighter Paladin Katarina actually was. She clearly had trained very hard, for a long time. The one flaw was she wasn't an agressive fighter, but her defense was nearly unbeatable.
"That was SO FUN," Katarina beamed.
'FUN?!' Gabrielle though, exhausted after battering herself against the woman's defences.
"We're both so sweaty," Katerina noted. She brightened, "Let's go to the baths together!"
"NO," Mary, Sophia and Maria all yelped at once.
"Huh?" Katerina blinked innocently.
'Definitely a clueless harem protagonist,' Gabrielle thought with a sigh. By that point it was late, and everyone retired for the night.
Interestingly, Katarina and her companions just booked one room...
The next morning, they got back to business. "Okay, about the demon," Devas noted. "We came here following rumours..."
"We've had some bandit raids recently," Sophia noted, "it might be related to the rumours you may have heard."
"Hmm?" Scribe looked curious.
"Sora and his band of outlaws have been raiding outlying settlements," Maria Campbell said, "he's very elusive."
Katarina clapped her hands together excitedly as she said, "Oooh! There ARE stories he has a demon helping him!"
"I think it's just that Sora's second in command is such a fierce fighter," Mary pointed out to them reasonably.
"Well, we should probably check it out, still," Gabrielle noted.
"Agreed," Katarina said warmly.
Rather annoyingly it wasn't an actual 'demon' but instead a man with powerful dark magic. Raphael Walt, an associate of Sora, was using his power to convince other bandits and others to work with him and Sora.
"I feel bad for him, though," Katarina noted sadly.
"Lady Katarina. REALLY?" Mary Hunt sighed.
Sophia added, "He was a MURDERER, though."
"He was an exiled noble who lost his family, his title and...," Katarina shrugged.
"Well, I'm glad we caught them, and rounded up the bandits," Sinon said seriously.
"My Father and Mother want to thank you all for all this, too," Katerina told Devas and Gabrielle cheerfully.
"We really have other obligations," Gabrielle said quickly.
Mary, Sophia and Maria all sighed in relief, at seeing the women finally leaving...
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
"THAT was a waste of time," Sinon sighed.
"It wasn't THAT bad. We stopped a villain, after all," Gabrielle pointed out.
"And we got a good story for my reports," Scribe added.
Devas sighed, "Really?"
"We do seem to have more false alarms, lately," Gabrielle noted.
"Hmm," Sinon agreed.
"I think we've caught all of my people in this region," Devas admitted. "Which means we need to go out farther."
"Leave the islands for the Continent?" Scribe asked, referring to the huge landmass to the west of them.
"Hmm," Devas nodded, "we'll need to head to a port and charter a ship."
"I assume my being a Hero won't earn us a free ride?" Gabrielle guessed.
"Alas, no," Sinon assumed.
"So we'll need to earn some money first. Head to the local Adventurers Guild?" Gabrielle suggested,
"Sounds like a plan," Scribe agreed.
To be continued...
Notes: Katarina is from My Next Life As a Villainess, All Routes Lead to Doom. My take on her is, basically, if you train in the sword over EIGHT YEARS (as she does in canon) you're actually gonna get pretty good at it.
Heroing, I suspect, doesn't actually make much money. There's probably rewards from various nobles and such, but other than that...
I was Transported To Another World and Became a Yuri Heroine
Chapter Ten
"Welcome to the Bentenmaru!" the surprisingly young looking woman greeted them cheerfully. "I'm the Captain, Marika Kato."
"Uh, hello," Gabrielle smiled a bit warily.
Scribe jumped in, "We need passage to the continent, and I understand you give a discount if we work as crew?"
"That's right," Marika agreed, "there's been monster attacks out on the seas between here and the continent. We might have to fight them off."
Everyone kind of looked at Devas at THAT news.
"Hey!" Devas pouted, "It's not MY fault!"
Marika blinked.
"Just ignore that," Sinon sighed. "We can fight, yes..."
"Okay," Marika just accepted that with a shrug and said, "my second in command will take you to your quarters."
"Bunks. It's not fancy," the black haired woman with glasses noted.
"Don't be mean, Chiaki-chan!" Marika teased.
"Don't call me something so cute!" Chiaki complained, blushing.
"But Chiaki-chan...," Marika pouted cutely.
"They're TOTALLY girlfriends," Gabrielle mused.
"Are not!" Chiaki growled. She shook herself, "Come on."
Scribe was looking around as they walked and noted, "Uhm... this is a pirate ship, I think?"
"Armed privateer," Chiaki corrected forcefully. She added, "We have a charter from the king."
"And how often do you get shot at anyway?" Devas asked dubiously.
"Sometimes," Chiaki admitted.
"Oh joy," Gabrielle muttered.
They reached the quarters, which mostly amounded to hammocks set up on one cabin. "Well, I've seen worse," Scribe shrugged.
"So...," Sinon looked at Devas and asked, "how many undersea monsters got away, when you quit leading the demons?"
Devas said a bit defensively, "Well, a couple. But we don't KNOW that they're mine, attacking the ships..."
"Bet you it is," Scribe noted.
"I'm not taking THAT bet," Sinon sighed.
"You're all so mean," Devas sighed.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
"COME OUT, QUEEN DEVAS! AND DIE!"
"Told you," Scribe noted.
"Oh shut up," Devas said as the vessel bucked wildly.
"Ack!" Sinon grabbed hold of the mast, then climbed up to the crow's nest.
"I..." the woman crouched there started.
"Brace me!" Sinon ordered as she drew her bow. The woman grabbed Sinon's belt as the archer drew and fired arrows into the huge kracken-woman.
"FACE ME, DEVAS!" the woman's voice came from the kracken's mouth, huge tentacles gripping the ship.
"Huff!" Gabrielle grunted as she chopped a tentacle right off.
Marika, firing a pistol, blinked in astonishment. "HOW..."
"Magic sword," Scribe noted, used to it by now, while holding her staff and clubing any limbs that got near them.
"Keep firing," Chiaki yelled, going back to back with Marika, both blasting away at it.
"Damn it, Ariel! I thought you hated eating people!" Devas sprouted here wings and went airborn, soaring up over the grasping tentacles.
"You abandoned us!" Ariel the kraken yelled.
"Rawr!" Devas lunged down, slashing with her claws furiously.
"Roll out the main guns!" Kane McDougal yelled, the blonde helmsman struggling to keep them on course.
"Aye!" Schnitzer yelled, the giant of a man runing along the deck, lighting fuses of several naval cannons pointed at the beast.
BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!
"Your puny weapons can not harm me!" Ariel yelled furiously.
"They're a great distraction, though!" Gabrielle seized the chance, jumping off the deck and ONTO the moster, stabbing deep.
"ARRRGH!" Ariel howled.
"BANISHING BLADE!" Gabrielle invoked the sword's magic. In a burst of light, the huge beast disappeared.
"Shit. Can she swim?" Sinon wondered.
"ACK!" Gabrielle floundered.
"Looks like no," Marika selflessly jumped into the water, swam over and got a grip on the hero, then swam back.
"Damn it, don't put yourself in danger like that!" Chiaki complained as she helped them get back on board.
"Sorry, Chiaki," Marika said sheepishly, the woman soaked.
"Damn it," Chiaki muttered, then kissed her lingerlingly.
"Whoo hoo!" Kane cheered.
"Told you so," Gabrielle murmured as Devas looked her lover worriedly.
"Okay, what the HELL was that?" Marika recovered enough to demand of the heroes.
"The hero Gabrielle has a demon banishing sword that...," Scribe started.
Marika drew her sword and pointed it at them threateningly, "I MEAN, that thing knew your friend. By NAME. And she was flying."
"I'm the former demon King," Devas stood between Gabrielle and the sword, "it's my responsibility to stop these things."
Marika tilted her head to the side thoughtfully, then nodded. "All right," she sheathed her swird, "you DID save us, after all."
"We'll reach shore in a hour or so," Chiaki added, "stay on guard just in case."
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
"What were the odds of TWO monster attacks?" Sinon wondered as they disembarked.
"At least it wasn't one of mine," Devas sighed, "just mermaids."
"JUST mermaids?" Sinon winced.
Folk tales had mermaids as pretty sea women who lured men with song. In reality they only looked human from afar.. up close they were deadly, clawed monsters who would rip your face off easily. Worse, they hunted in packs...
"Well, we've made it to the continent," Gabrielle sighed. "And we're broke."
"Not COMPLETELY broke," Scribe corrected.
"We can get some wiork at the Adventurer's Guild," Sinon noted. "Then start looking for more fleeing Demons."
"And I can sell off some treasure if need be," Devas added.
"Just not a cursed item, again," Gabrielle said quickly.
"It only happened the one time," Devas pouted cutely.
The group got directions, then headed off to the local Adventurer's Guild. It was a MUCH larger building than onces they had seen before, which probably made sense for a busy port city.
A bard was singing a.. honestly badly rhymed song about a 'Goblin Slayer'. He finished, collected coins then cleared his throat. He then started again...
"The Summoned Hero Met the Demon Queen,
She won and found her beauty seen..."
"He it TOTALLY ripping you off," Gabrielle noted to Scribe.
Scribe shrugged, "I consider it a compliment. Plus, he has to pay to the Bard Guild for that, that gets back to me."
"Fair," Sinon agreed.
They reached the Adventurer's Guild, where, unsurprisingly, there was a brawl breaking out...
To be continued...
Notes: The ship is crewed by expies of the heros from Bodacious Space Pirates, pretty much. Was re-watching it recently. I thought about naming the Kraken Ursula, but using Ariel amused me too much not to do it.
The mermaids are BASICALLY the ones from Mira Grant's sci-fi horror 'Drowning Deep' series of books. They're awesome, if scary as fuck.

Chapter Eleven
"IT'S A GIANT!"
"GODZILLA!"
"Wrong series, dumbass!"
"RUN AWAY!"
"So, one of yours?" Scribe asked Devas mildly as she held her staff defensively. Not that it'd do much good, but...
Devas shook her head, "No, they seem local."
"GWAAAARR!" the huge monster roared.
The woman giant smacked himn, "Must you? These humans will think us savages."
The man giant looked sheepish, "But this is what they expect!"
"Still," she huffed.
"What," Gabrielle blinked.
The City Elder, standing nearby, sighed as he said, "They come once a year for tribute. They say they will ruin us, otherwise."
"Well, that's a thing...," Gabrielle digested that.
"Do you want us to stop them?" Sinon offered.
"Gods, no!" the Elder said.
"WHAT," Gabrielle repeated.
"They helped build the defensive wall, and assist with large scale construction in general," another city dweller added.
"Well, as long as it's all peaceful, it's not our place to jump in," Scribe noted.
"I suppose," Devas looked unhappy as she studied the giants. "I wanted to fight on, darn it."
"Eeep," Sinon shook her head.
The man giant was peering down at the group, "You are... Devas, the evil queen?"
"I stepped down," Devas answered, "but yes."
"It is a honor," the giant woman added.
"... thanks?" Devas blinked.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
"I sometimes forget how important you once were," Scribe noted to Devas as they left town later that day.
"Ha," Devas shook her head.
Sinon shrugged expressively, "I never heard of you before I left my village."
"Ouch," Gabrielle teased.
The four had, after arriving in town, taken on various 'beginner' quests for some fast cash. And, of course, to get their names out there as capable adventurers. YES the 'Hero Gabrielle' was known, but everybody knew stories got exaggerated. So there was that.
Frankly, Scribe was a bit annoyed that her stories were so poorly known here...
"All right, we heard rumours that a Banshee is haunting a nearby castle, and it MIGHT be one of Devas' minions," Sinon changed the subject.
"Bane Sidhe," Devas corrected.
"There's a difference?" Scribe asked, intrigued.
"The whole 'wailing to herald death' thing is a myth," Devas shrugged. "The Bane Sidhe are creatures created to hunt Elves and their relatives."
Sinon paled, "Seriously?"
"We'll protect you, whatever happens," Gabrielle reassured her.
"They are vulnerable to sword and bow," Devas reassured her, "we CAN kill it. Assuming it is one of mine, of course."
"Of course," Scribe nodded.
"How far away is the castle?" Sinon checked.
"We'll get to the nearby town by twilight," Scribe checked their map, "we can get a room in town, then try the castle in the morning."
"Unless you want to try it at night," Devas teased.
"Oh HELL no," Sinon made a face as the others chuckled.
"Now, let's just hope there's no bandits..."
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
"You HAD to say it," Gabrielle sighed as ten bandits advanced on them.
"Yeah, yeah," Devas sighed.
"Throw down your arms and surrender!" the bandit leader called. He was a scruffy looking older guy, in patched up light armor.
"No," Scribe said calmly.
"Huh?" the bandit blinked, just before Sinon shot him in the shoulder.
"Boss!" another goon yelped as he went down.
Devas charged, a blur of speed as she ripped the sword out of one man's hand as she punched another out.
Sinon gracefully drew and fired, shooting abother in the sword arm, then shifting slightly, firing again and skewering a poor bastard's hand.
"FUCK, ARGH," the one woman bandit loudly yelped, having seen their force halved in less than a minute.
Gabrielle casually dueled two more of them, slapping their weapons aside easily, jabbing at them. It was almost like she was playing with them.
"NOT THE FACE! Not the face!" one pretty boy yelped as Scribe casually clobbered him with her staff.
"This is a joke," Devas noted as she easily picked up one of the dudes.
"Surrender," Gabrielle ordered the last few men.
All the guys threw down their arms.
"Why did you try to jump us?" Scribe asked the one she had been pummelling.
"We outnumbered you! We thought it'd be easy!" the guy whimpered.
"That's it?" Gabrielle blinked.
"That's it," he sighed.
"Considering how easily you beat us, possibly you could let us go...?" one bandit suggested.
"Yeah, no,"
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
"Welcome, adventurers," the gate guard of the small town blinked as they hauled a group of bandits behind them.
"These idiots tried to jump us on the highway," Scribe explained.
"We're innocent! Really!"
"I recognize you, One Eye Jacks," the guard sighed. "Up to your old tricks again?"
The bandit wilted.
"We'll turn them in, then," Gabrielle nodded, "thank you."
"Thank YOU," the guard sighed.
On a hill above the town, they could see the ruined castle where the Bane Sidhe dwelled. It was dark, overgrown, and seemed to radiate a sinister energy.
"How does the town ignore that?" Sinon wondered.
"You get used to it," a old shopkeeper noted as they passed.
To be continued...

Chapter Twelve
The town's Adventurer's Guild recorded their defeating and capturing the bandits, and they got some silver as a bounty on the men. As One Eye Jacks and his band wasn't exactly a major villain, the reward wasn't that huge.
"Thank you for your efforts!" Ayten, the Guild Clerk, beamed, her long brown hair flowing down her back.
Gabrielle nodded, "Glad to help."
"What inn would you recommend?" Devas asked curiously.
Ayten looked sheepish as she explained, "We only have one inn, actually" She pointed north,. "Just up the road."
"I guess with the monster infested castle, you don't get many visitors?" Scribe guessed, leaning on her wooden staff.
"Oh yeah," Ayten agreed, "it's getting so only the dedicated merchants come through now. And the occassional adventurers trying to fight the banshee."
"No one won?" Sinon asked nervously.
"A few just gave up and left," Ayten shrugged.
Devas nodded thoughtfully, "Well, thank you for your help."
The four them headed up the street where, yes, there was an inn, the main floor also doubling as the small town's tavern.
"Welcome!" the old bartender said brightly. His scruffy beard matched his grey hair, and he wore the usual apron and had a heavy club at his side. The men, mostly farmers and such, looked up from their drinks then went back to it.
"I need a drink," Gabrielle sighed tiredly. It had been a LONG day...
"We also need rooms," Devas noted.
"Got two. You OK with sharing?" he wondered.
Devas took Gabrielle's arm while Sinon smiled at a blushing Scribe.
He shook his head, "I see you'll be fine."
"Four beer," Scribe ordered, then she added, "do we want anything to eat?"
"I could eat," Gabrielle admitted.
Devas winked, "You will. Later."
"I mean food," Gabrielle laughed.
"We have stew," the bustly young barmaid noted.
"Beef stew?" Sinon asked.
"Stew. Dunno what's in it... might be chicken, might be monster meat," the maid shrugged casually as she eyed them thoughtfully.
"Well, you only live once," Gabrielle said, deciding to try the mystery stew.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
"Do you want a guide, ladies?" the Centaur adventurer offered, dressed in light armor, a bow over her shoulder.
(Centaurs in general were more common on the continent. Once upon a time they were enslaved as regular horses, but had rebelled and gained their freedom. Now they lived among regular people, though they absolutely refused to give rides barring an emergency.)
"Do we need a guide?" Scribe asked reasonably.
"Yes," Himeko Kimihara said firmly, "there used to be a relatively clear path up to the castle, but it's eroded away quite a bit. There aren't traps, thankfully, but local monsters also nest along the route too."
"Fair enough," Gabrielle agreed. "Standard rates?"
"Certainly," Himeko agreed. She then asked, "Can my partner come along? She's a Cleric, and can heal us all if needed."
"As long as she doesn't have a issue with me," Devas noted.
The attractive, blond Miko smiled, "Not at all. I am Manami Mitama." She looked MOSTLY like a regular human, but had small wings sprouting from her shoulders.
Sinon sniffered, "I could scout it safely."
"Then you'd be up ahead, on your own if the Bane Sidhe appears," Scribe noted.
"ON THE OTHER HAND, I'm perfectly OK with the centaur doing it," Sinon swiftly added, the elf's ears twitching nervously.
Gabrielle hid a smile, "Right, let's get going."
"Lead the way," Devas nodded to Himeko.
"You're not expecting me to carry your supplies?" Himeko noted, pleasantly surprised.
"You're a guide, not a pack mule," Scribe noted.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
The trip up to the abandoned castle wasn't THAT bad but yes, it was rough going.
"Ugh, slimes!" Scribe clobbered one with her staff.
"Annoying," Manami agreed, using her holy mace to crush another.
Himiko crushed one under her hoof then groaned, "ICK."
"I wish that witch we met was here," Devas noted as they finished them off.
"Nothing we can do," Sinon sighed, using a branch to kill a slime. A bow and arrow was sadly useless against slimes...
"We're nearly there," Himiko pointed as she said, "but hunters have reported wolves and such in the area too."
"Well, let's see if they're around," Gabrielle shrugged.
Thankfully they did NOT run into the wolf pack, and instead reached the main gates. The once heavy oaken doors swung open, one side broken down. There was a aura of menage around the place, while the smell of something rotting wafted from the inside.
"Ugh that's nasty," Sinon winced at the smell.
"Devas, sense anything?" Gabrielle checked as they entered the courtyard.
"I sense SOMETHING inside the main building," Devas said, the former demon queen frowning, "not sure what."
"You can sense demons and such?" Himeko asked quietly. "That's handy."
"It's not that precise though," Scribe noted.
"Everyone's a critic," Gabrielle teased.
"We'll have to go inside," Manami noted, frowning at their joking.
"Will you be okay?" Sinon addressed Himeko, nodding to her horse half.
"Are you commenting on my weight?" Himeko teased. More seriously she said, "We'll have to see, but I'd like to go along."
After a short while Scribe noted, "Is it me, or is it weirdly quiet?"
"Not even minor critters," Sinon noted. "I mean, I would at least expect racoons nesting in an old building. Or rats."
"Spiders though," Himeko ducked to avoid cobwebs. "But yes, weird."
"One tries to keep one's home tidy," a voice drawled.
The tall, aristocratic looking man stood in the doorway, his expression sort of calmly remote. He wore shining light armor, and carried a black sword.
"I should have known it was you, Elric," Devas said flatly.
"Friend of yours?" Gabrielle asked warily, hand on her sword. He seemed to RADIATE dark power but.. it felt non-threatening, oddly enough.
"Elric, last prince of the Bane Sidhee, the Hunter of Elves," Devas said.
"Can we shoot him?" Sinon ashed, her AND Himeko both ready with bows drawn.
"Only if you want to die," Elric said... then promptly collapsed.
"WHAT."
Later, Devas explained that Elric's family was horribly inbred, he suffered from terrible anemia and was constantly on the verge of death.
"So why isn't he dead?" Manami asked reasonably.
"The sword he carries is bonded to his soul," Devas shrugged, "it sustains him."
"The reason there's nothing alive in the castle is he's killed them all just to sustain himself," Gabrielle realized.
"And probably any adventurers that came up here," Himeko noted grimly.
"Banishing him would probably be a mercy, really," Sinon added.
"Devas?" Gabrielle looked at her girlfriend.
"Go ahead," Devas agreed.
"BANISHING BLADE," Gabrielle swung, and the unconscious man disappeared in a burst of light.
"Well, THAT was anticlimactic," Scribe noted.
"Yeah, this won't make a good story," Sinon agreed. "Let's see if there's loot to be had..."
"Right," Himeko agreed.
To be continued...
Notes: Himeko and Manami are 'fantasy' versions of characters from the manga/anime Centaur's Worries. It's a very odd series that came out during the Monster Girls boom in anime... it's actually a science fiction series where various monster species evolved instead of humans.
Elric is from Michael Moorecock's fantasy novels. And yes, he's as messed up as I said here.. if not worse.

TWELVE
“ Thank you again for your help,” Gabrielle said to Himeko, smiling up at the redheaded Centaur. They had looted the castle (not much, but SOME gold and other stuff) then returned to town to report to the Guild that they’d cleared the Castle.
“It’s been nice working with you,” Himeko said, then fidgeted nervously.
“Yes?” Devas asked.
“Er...,” she started.
“ My idiot partner wants to ask if we can join your group for awhile,” Manami said, the blonde m iko smiling calmly.
“ Hey!” Himeko protested being called a n idiot .
“ I don’t object,” Devas noted, “I am curious as to why though.”
“I’ve always wanted to travel,” Himeko admitted sheepishly , “ but it’s not safe for two maidens to travel alone.”
Sinon, Scribe and Gabrielle looked over the tall, physically powerful centaur girl, but didn’t say anything.
Manami, seeing that, shrugged.
“Plus you don’t have a cleric in your party , and you can always use another scout,” Himeko added reasonably .
Sinon actually nodded, “She can be a n advanced scout while I scout nearby.”
“ Gabrielle?” Devas bumped the decision over to her.
“ Sure,” Gabrielle agreed, “let’s do it.”
“ We’ll keep our food bill sep a rate, obviously,” Manami added.
“Yeah, I eat a LOT,” Himeko conceded.
“ Okay, what next?” Scribe asked.
“ It’s too late in the day to head out again,” Sinon noted.
“Why don’t we check into the inn again for a good night’s rest , then we’ll set out in the morning,” Gabrielle agreed.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
“ You defeated the banesidhe?! It must have been a great battle!” the barm an exclaimed as he poured their ale .
“Uh,” Scribe sighed. “Not exactly.”
Sinon looked amused as they sat around a table, once again eating the mystery stew. Which, it should be noted, was pretty good. Whatever the meat was, it had been slow roasted and well seasoned, and the gravy-like broth was rich and flavorful.
“ Well, with the Castle open, maybe we’ll get tourists going to the Under Kingdom again,” the barmaid noted.
“ Under Kingdom?” Sinon echoed.
“ I’ve heard of it,” Scribe noted, “it’s a magical realm under the continent, but you can only access it through certain places.”
“ Like the nearby castle?” Sinon looked dubious, “Isn’t that weirdly convenient?”
“ No breaking the fourth wall,” the barmaid swept by, “we just had it fixed.”
“Huh?” Sinon blinked.
“ Anyway... we should probably bring it up to the others,” Scribe noted.
Devas and Gabrielle were at another table, looking into each other’s eyes dreamily. As usual. It got a BIT annoying, seeing two who were so madly in love.
“: The Under Kingdom? I’ve HEARD of it,” Gabrielle agreed.
“I’ve always wanted to go there,” Himeko noted, having also joined them.
“ More ale?” the barmaid checked on the group.
“Please,” Scribe nodded and the young woman delivered another round.
“ So, the Under Kingdom,” Sinon mused.
“ It’s a dangerous place to visit though,” Devas war n ed.
“ Really?” Gabrielle actually sounded sort of eager.
“There are some of the most deadly monsters around down there,” Manami said seriously.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
"Wait a moment," the vampiric loli blinked in surprise then asked them, "you DON'T want to sleep with me?"
"No!" Gabrielle yelped.
“HELL no,” Sinon agreed.
“Ugh,” Manami covered her face while Himeko stood nearby.
Scribe, meanwhile, was trying JUST to look at the young girl's face and not her outfit. She was wearing just transparent gaze 'robes' along with thong panties and a tiny bra. She felt like she was violating child porn laws just LOOKING at her.
"You would not BELIEVE how many male adventurers hit on me," the loli noted, shaking her head with a sigh
Scribe HAD to ask, "Uhm, why are you dressed like that?"
She was also scowling at the centaur too.
"We actually need to travel through the Under Kingdom. Would you be willing to guide us?" Devas wondered.
Lolita looked dubious, "What's in it for me?"
"We're questing for certain items that belong to me as Demon Queen," Devas noted, “as well as defeating my former servants.”
"Huh?" Lolita blinked.
"Long story," Scribe explained.
"Anyway, one of the items can remove major curses. It could cure you," Devas said, “in exchange for your help.”
Lolita nodded thoughtfully, "Sounds interesting. Plus if I tag along with you, you can guard me from the creeps who keep trying to sleep with me..."
“We’d do that anyway,” Gabrielle added.
“Okay,” Lolita agreed, “I’m in, for now.”
As the group set off through the cavern Scribe asked, “Have there been any new or unusual monsters lately? They might be former members of the Demon Kingdom.”
“A sorcerer had taken over part of the Shadows Fall,” Lolita noted, “might be it.”
“We’ll check it out,” Gabrielle agreed.

"Wait, you didn't KNOW Sinon liked you?" Lolita blinked at Scribe.
The boyish Scribe looked sheepish, "No."
"It's kind of obvious," Gabrielle agreed.
"I didn't notice," Himeko offered, the centaur sitting nearby.
Manami was stirring the pot for dinner, her wings held back as she mused, "You're nearly a clueless as she is. It took me months to get you to notice me."
"Manami!" Himiko blushed cutely.
"Could you PLEASE not discuss this?" Sinon complained, the elvish woman possessively taking Scribe's hand.
"We support your love!" Gabrielle gave her a thumbs up.
Sinon just sighed.
Devas returned with a 'rock weasel' one of the native critters in the Under Kingdom. Ugly, but apparently good eating.
"Let me help," Gabrielle smiled warmly at Devas.
They quickly skinned then prepared the meat, before putting it on sticks over the fire. Soon it was sizzling merrily.
"They may look awful, but they cook up nice," Manami noted later.
Sinon and Scribe were sitting together, while Devas and Gabrielle paired up, along with Manami and Himiko.
"Oh sure, leave the vampire loli all alone," Lolita complained.
"I thought you WANTED to be left alone," Scribe pointed out.
"Well, true," Lolita admitted.
"You mentioned Shadows Fall earlier," Scribe asked.
"Hmm," Lolita nodded, "it was a villain's keep, before he was driven out, and was renamed Shadows Fall. There's rumours there is a weapon vault beneath it."
"One of my minions," Devas agreed. "I instructed them to guard certain artifacts..."
"Like the curse breaker?" Gabrielle asked.
"To be honest, I don't remember what's there," Devas admitted.
"What." several girls blinked.
"It's been over a thousand years!" Devas pouted, "Tell me you'd remember that far back."
"Admittedly, I don't remember what I had for breakfast a few weeks ago, so understandable," Himiko conceded.
"Anyway.. we'll check Shadow's Fall once we get there," Gabrielle looked questioningly at Lolita.
"I'll take about a day or so to get there," Lolita clarified.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
"So, they're collecting Scribe's reports into a book?"
"Two volumes so far!"
"The Hero Gabrielle is quite popular, huh?"
"Have you seen the.. other publications?"
"No! What?"
"Certain writers are making up.. private folios on what they get up to at night!"
"Shocking!"
"Indeed!"... "Were there any you'd suggest looking for?"
"... well, there is the one where Gabrielle binds Devas and forces her into submission, 'CHAINS OF DESIRE.'"
"Oh ho!"
"And the other where they have a threesome with fair Sinon."
"SINON?!"
"What?"
"Pure, fair Sinon would never do such a thing."
"There is that trend with elves being lewd..."
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
Sinon, in the Under Kingdom, sneezed several times.
"Dust getting to you?" Lolita teased.
"Just came on suddenly," Sinon shook her head.
"Someone must be talking about you," Himeko suggested, the centaur walking with her.
Sinon just snorted at that.
The keep 'Shadow's Fall' was in a deep, DEEP valley between two craigy hills. The path down was surrounded by sharp stones and steep drops, lit by the eerie light of the Under Kingdom.
(Despite being underground, the Under Kingdom had a 'sky' and 'Sun.' It was rather mind boggling, and best not to think about too much.)
"I'm surprised there's no one guarding the place," Gabrielle noted warily.
Devas shrugged, "Where it is is supposed to be security enough."
"I think there are wards too," Manami added, the priestess sensitive to such things.
"There!" Sinon pointed as the keep fully came into sight.
"Well, that's ominous," Gabrielle noted, as the stones it was composed of were pitch black and radiating dark energy.
"It's MOSTLY an illusion to keep people away," Devas noted.
"Mostly. There is a LOT of dark magic here," Manami added.
The group headed to the outer gates, which were unguarded but locked. "Really solid," Sinon noted, tapping the wood reinforced with steel.
"OPEN," Devas ordered, gesturing and triggering magic in the doors. They glowed, then swung open...
"Eeep!" the bunny girl guard eeped.
"cute!" Scribe blinked.
"We come in peace...," Gabrielle started.
"HYAA!" the girl yelped as she produced a MASSIVE warhammer from nowhere.
"Look out!" Devas grabbed Gabrielle and yanked her clear before she could be squished.
"Hajime! Yue! Tio! Kaori! We're under attack!" the bunny yelled as she leaped backwards.
"We're not.." Scribe started.
A group hurried out of the keep, lead by a white haired young man...
"That's a GUN?!" Gabrielle blinked, seeing the sleek revolvers he was carrying.
The GORGEOUS black haired woman in flowing robes smirked, "Well, who will be the first to face dragon flame?"
The pretty blonde with almost emotionless expression added, "Or my ice magic."
"We've claimed this place," the man declared, "so..."
Devas scowled, "TIO, CALL YOUR FRIENDS OFF!"
The black haired beauty started a bit, "Lady Devas?"
"Wait, Tio, you know her?" the guy asked.
"As I said before the bunny tried to kill me, we come in peace," Gabrielle said wryly.
The busty, silver haired bunny looked sheepish, "Uhm, oops?"
"Sorry, I'm Hajime Nagumo," the man introduced himself, "this is Shea, Yue, Kaori and I guess you know Tio. EVERYONE who's come here had tried to attack us, so..."
"This is Devas, the Demon Queen. My dragon tribe traded with her people," Tio explained how she knew her.
Devas then introduced everyone, and the two groups headed inside.
"You're from Earth too, I guess?" Gabrielle addressed Hajime.
"The guns?" Hajime guessed how she knew.
"Yup. The closest thing I've seen here is old time powder and ball weapons," Gabrielle noted. "Were you summoned too?"
Hajime made a face, "Yes, but they dumped me because my blacksmith abilities weren't useful. I ended up in a dungeon, and used my abilities to create weapoins and gear to survive."
"And saved us along the way," Shea beamed.
"Now I'm just trying to find the artifacts I need to get home," he admitted, "but the armory here was empty."
"EMPTY?" Devas yelped.
"Guess we'll have to track the items down," Scribe mused.
To be continued...
Notes: Arifureta, sorta. Season three has started, and while it's a trashy series, it is kinda fun.

"They did WHAT?" Gabrielle blurted.
Hajime made a face, "It wasn't THAT bad."
The two parties were exploring the keep, as Devas knew where various hidden rooms were. They had already found some enchanted armor that had been stashed away.
"I think I got it easy in comparison," Gabrielle admitted.
"Don't tempt fate," Hajime noted wryly.
"Point. And ALL your group got special magic when you arrived?" Gabrielle asked.
"Yup. Tho how useful it was varied," Hajime said. "Our teacher got farming magic." he added, smiling slightly.
"And all I got was a demon banishing sword," Gabrielle pouted.
Yue and Lolita were sharing tales of being the childlike hundreds of year old girls and all the damn perverts out there. Shea was talking to Nanami and Himiko, feeling a bond with the pretty centaur and angel.
Scribe was collecting stories from Tio, who as a dragon had a LONG memory and was well aware of local history.
Kaori, the healer, was talking to Sinon as well. "You can heal almost any injuries?!" Sinon asked, surprised.
Kaori nodded, "I gained healing powers when I came here with Hajime."
Sinon was ALSO pretty sure Kaori wanted to ride Hajime like a pony...
Tio frowned, the black haired woman/dragon frowning as she pointed, "I sense something just ahead of us."
Devas stepped up with her, and gestured forward, frowning. "Something triggered the warning spell," she said.
Gabrielle drew her sword as she asked, "A enemy?"
"Or a rat or something triggered it," Tio noted. "It can happen."
"Seriously?" Sinon asked wryly.
Gabrielle nodded, "We should check it out, though."
A eerie green light was coming from the wall ahead of them. It was... frankly kind of sinister, and all of them felt a eerie chill.
"Yeah, I'm thinking bad," Scribe noted.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
"Well THAT was a mess," Yue noted, the blond vampire sighing.
The hidden chamber had contained a possessed, demonic sword, buried in a corpse'd chest. It attacked them at first, but apparently needed a user. None of them were compatable, so it blasted a hole in the wall and flew off.
"We're going to have to chase it down, aren't we?" Sinon groaned, having nearly been possessed herself.
"Yes! We let it loose, so...," Gabrielle said firmly.
"The Under Kingdom is FILLED with cursed crap," Lolita pointed out.
"Still," Gabrielle said firmly.
"Ahem," Hajime cleared his throat. "Can we finish exploring the keep, before you take off?" he asked mildly.
Gabrielle gave him a disappointed look.
"They DO have a point. Plus, there may be other dangerous items," Scribe noted.
Gabrielle puffed out a sigh, "Okay, FINE."
The group found a concealed series of other chambers, including armor, weapons, staffs and so on. A lot of it was cursed, of course, but Devas and, surprisingly, Kaori and Manami were able to banish the various curses.
"Nothing that will help us get home though," Kaori noted.
"Yeah," Shea sighed, bunny ears drooping a bit.
Gabrielle rolled her eyes, "Hajime is a huge MAGIC ENGINEER. He can just build a way home then!"
Hajime paused, clearly not have thought of that.
"CAN YOU?" Tio demanded.
Hajime scratched his head, "Well, MAYBE..."

"Well THAT was a bust," Lolita noted as they set out the next morning.
"At least you got that cloak you can wear over the fetish wear your curse demands," Denas pointed out to her.
"There IS that," Lolita conceded.
All of them had gotten SOME gear out of the Keep. Gabrielle had better armor, Devas had one of her swords, Scribe got a Staff of Bludgeoning, Sinon a better bow, and so on.
"I don't know if I like this armor," Himeko admitted, the armor tailored to centaurs covering most of her horse side.
"It's enchanted and can save you from mortal wounds," her lover Manami pointed out.
"But it chafes!" Himeko pouted.
"Suffer," Manami ordered.
Devas hid a chuckle. "I'm sorry we didn't find the curse breaking gear," she told Gabrielle.
"We knew if was a long shot it'd be there," Gabrielle noted.
"Still...," Devas shrugged.
"Lolita, are there other mysterious keeps, castles and such?" Gabrielle asked her.
"Five or six," Loliya admitted, "weird occult shit is all over."
"And military outposts for the demon army," Devas added. "My generals set them up.. I was mostly hands off on that."
"REALLY?" Sinon gave her a look.
"I had things to do!" Devas defended herself.
Gabrielle sighed, "Right, right... how near is the next site, then?"
"About a day," Lolita noted, "The Vale of Darkness."
"... well, that sounds lovely," Scribe said wryly.
"I hope it's not THAT bad," Himeko said quietly.
"At least it'll be interesting," her girlfriend Manami said.

"Welcome to the Sunlit Woods!" the gorgeous woman beamed.
"What," Devas blinked.
The supposed 'Vale of Darkness' was apparently gone, replaced by what looked like a beach town. There were a LOT of locals in what looked like bikinis and such, a 'beach' by the underground sea (don't ask), and typical beach foods.
"Nice!" Scribe cheered, happy there were no monsters this time.
"It does seem strange," Sinon looked around.
Lolita also seemed confused, "The area was under a blanket of darkness curse!"
"Not anymore," the woman said.
Devas looked around her warily, "So... someone removed it?"
"Yes, the Deep Sea Monster," the woman added cheerfully.
"What," BOTH Devas and Gabrielle blurted.
"Ah hell," Scribe sighed.
"We'll need to stop it, won't we?" Himeko groaned.
Gabrielle sighed, "Right, let's go check it out..."
They reached the edge of the beach, then stared.
"Hiiiiii!" the huge woman made of water waved.
"Well, THAT'S a thing," Gabrielle blinked.
"NAIAD?" Devas called, "Did you do this?"
The giant water woman waved, "Hey, Devas! Yes, I wanted more people to play with."
"Is this good or bad?" Lolita asked quietly.
"Not sure," Sinon admitted.
"So you broke the curse and moved the beach for fun?" Devas checked.
"And I was lonely," Naiad admitted.
"... well, as long as she's not hurting anyone?" Gabrielle asked.
