It was only a matter of time.
Mina collapsed into her chair and sighed, “I’ve recommended you into the Operator program.” Her new coat laced in Third Division colors and the freshly minted badge of Major pinned to her lapel shined against the dim lights. It’ll be brighter in her office, Soshiro was sure of it. “Kaiju-10 has successfully been weaponized and ready for operator integration. It underwent a new cultivation process based on Kaiju-01 and Kaiju-08, so they're concerned about potential drawbacks."
Now, he understood why she locked the door behind them. Mina reached into the small cabinet on the left side of her desk, the one that was always kept locked. She set down two shot glasses and pulled out a vintage-looking bottle. She poured into both to the top, set it between them, and gently pushed one towards him.
"That means it’s going to be as rough as it was with Operator Hibino and Captain Narumi. The other Operators lucked out with their integration processes - they required less invasive techniques." Mina tossed back the shot without a grimace and Soshiro savored a sip. It was the expensive vodka, the kind you couldn’t afford even on a Captain’s salary. She continued, "I can't guarantee your life but I still have time to remove your name from the list. Once it's out of my hands, we both know your family will push it to the top."
Soshiro drank the shot and poured them both another. He sat back to look at his former-Captain, "Do you want me to do it?"
Mina made a face, something twisted with grief and remorse. She said, "I want to hear you agree. We have known each other since our cadet days and your loyalty has not gone unnoticed."
"They don’t appreciate it, do they?" He grinned. The Hoshina family had the power to train discipline and obedience into their members, but loyalty was trickier and loyalty was to the Defense Force was upheld above all else. Soshiro was a little more flexible.
She gave him a half smile, "I doubt we both want to know how deep that rabbit hole goes. But what other way to prove your loyalty to the Force then ‘volunteer’ for the Kaiju Integration Operator Program."
"Where the outcome is either a leashed dog or a corpse." Soshiro murmured and Mina winced. She drank her next shot and pointed at him.
"My final order as your Captain, Soshiro," She said, "is that you stay alive. You stay alive and you keep your new squadron alive. Hibino cares and Narumi will need someone to steady him now that he isn’t alone. The rest of them are kids, Soshiro. Kids that we’ve turned into something more and I don’t trust the Force to keep them alive.”
Soshiro could count the number of times Mina Ashiro has broken apart on one hand. He watched her break and put herself back together just as quickly. Her breathing eased and while no tears ever fell, her voice was clouded with them. “You were the backbone of Division Three, Vice-Captain Hoshina. It was an honor having you by my side.”
“No, Major. It was an honor to be part of what Division Three became under your leadership.” Soshiro replied, swallowing thickly. “And the greatest honor was having you as a friend.”
The office would soon be cleared out for the next Captain and Mina would be transferred up the chain of command. It was a privilege, according to the General. Not a punishment. She was too stubborn to recommend any Division Three recruits to the Operator program - they were too week, Mina had reported.
And yet, the only successful integrated of multiple Operators in decades all came from Division Three. Kaiju-04 and Kaiju-06 were now embedded in two young cadets, and Soshiro would be the next Operator of Kaiju-10. Even Hibino bore their colors before the integration into Kaiju-08. There was no way the General would allow Mina to continue leading Division Three. There was nothing Soshiro could do.
Only follow his Captain’s final order.
[ ACCESSING THE KAIJU-OPERATOR INTEGRATION PROGRAM ]
Archived files depict the Kaiju Integration Operator Program as a public outrage. The idea of integrating Kaiju genes into human officers didn’t cast a positive light on the Defense Force. Any amalgamation of Kaiju in biological studies were restricted to minimal experimentation.
Or so it was at the beginning.
Set adrift, the last of mankind stumbled through the darkness and continued their journey of finding a new home amongst the stars. And in the cold embrace of space, strange creatures threatened the colony ships. Nightmarish horrors with wailing screams that echoes against man-made metal with ultraviolet scales that reflected light, Kaijus shredded anything in their paths.
As with most societal shifts - politicians argued for the necessity while scientists rallied against it. They could not determine the side effects for their Operators, short-term or otherwise, and they could not guarantee the longevity of any chimera experiments.
Yet, without a new breakthrough, it would be difficult for the colonies to survive in the uncaring abyss of monsters. Fighter jets were built quicker and weapon development grew exponentially. The Defense Force recruited the best they could find from each ship, some of the brightest minds amongst the survivors, to improve the odds of their survival.
It was not enough for their journey, but it was just enough for the first victory: The first Kaiju was captured, spliced into thousands of samples, and dragged behind a cargo ship until the brain was salvaged enough to cut the ropes off the corpse. It was the most complex life-form they’d come across and with it, the Operator program was born.
The first cohort of volunteers died. So did the second, and third. Soshiro found the dramatization of the first Kaiju to be ill-form, especially if Narumi’s tendencies were any indication of the type of Operator necessary for such a beast.
Soshiro remembered the previous cohort of Operators. There were only two active operators at the time - Kaiju-02 and Kaiju-04. Isao Shinomiya was a talented fighter and Hikari Shinomiya was simply a prodigy. A legendary fighter, and the first Operator for Kaiju-04. They were mourned. After their deaths, memorial screens were plastered on every screen across every colony ship for weeks. He remembered turning ten years old on the day of their funeral - their baby cried in the arms of her new caretaker and it haunted Soshiro for days.
But with their sacrifice, the sixth Kaiju was captured.
The new face of the Kaiju-Operator Integration Program was replaced once the seventh Kaiju was captured in record time. A new Operator was at play and images of war heroes were replaced by a scowling boy, barely older than Soshiro at the time. Gen Narumi had successfully integrated with the first Kaiju.
With that weapon at their disposal, the Defense Force grew in numbers at exponential speeds. Families with well-known names and deep connections rooted their support firmly in finding Operators for each Kaiju. At first, it was about safety. Kaiju-01 was gifted with foresight due to the process and was easily capable of assisting in the navigation pit to maneuver even the worst of asteroid rings. With new found confidence, more colony ships were created.
Unfortunately, not all good things last - Kaiju attacks grew more frequently as more were captured and studied. Larger creatures approached their ships with malice and Kaiju-01 was deployed on a consistent basis since Soshiro could remember; just a boy of fourteen carrying the last of humanity on his back while new volunteers for the operator program continued to fail. His overwhelming success rate granted Narumi his well-earned place as Captain of the Kaiju-Operator Division. A division of one boy and his retainer.
Classical weaponry was only so effective. Typical Defense Force combatants specialized in the lesser threats, such as smaller creatures or the occasional swarm. They aimed to clear the way for Kaiju-01 but Narumi was always on-call. With the increasing danger and strain on their sources, some scientists claimed that the increasing concentration of Kaiju matter was attracting others.
Those warnings were silenced.

The Captain Gen Narumi that Soshiro knew, the pride achievement of the Operator Program and the only survivor of integrating with the first Kaiju, had a need to take up as much space as possible in the room with his presence. Soshiro was no stranger to the type, and he was no stranger to their beneficial rivalry. Lots of sparring, and just as much fucking afterwards.
While Soshiro had many privileges as Vice-Captain of Division Three, access to the Kaiju-Operator quarters was restricted to Operators, their retainers, and any curious higher-ups. Kaiju-01 had the clearance to come and go where he wished, which included the Division Three gym.
Sparring went as it typically did between them. Soshiro and Narumi were evenly matched, or so they were on the mats. Sometimes, Narumi’s eyes glittered and he dodged Soshiro’s next hit too easily. Sometimes, it was obvious that there was more power behind Narumi’s hits than he let on.
But that’s what happened when you were no longer all human.
“I heard you’ve been recruited to the weird side of town.” Narumi said first, during their cool down stretches. He spoke more towards the mat than towards Soshiro as he stretched.
Soshiro, who had less clearance now than ever before, smiled. He found the bashful his self-proclaimed rival to be quite interesting. He pulled his arm over his chest and pulled tightly for release, “Won’t that be fun, Naru-chan?”
“I’m going to throw up if you ever call me that again.” Narumi gagged. He grabbed a towel and wiped his face, as Soshiro rolled his eyes. The silence between them felt suffocating and Narumi pushed his hair back with a sigh, “I guess we’re going to be working together.”
“Is it a nightmare?” Soshiro offered playfully, “Or a dream come true?”
Narumi made a face, “Disgusting.”
“Is that why you keep coming by my room?”
“No, that’s stress relief. Stress that is caused by you.” Narumi said. He whipped the towel towards Soshiro who sidestepped the fabric assault.
“Don’t be mad, Naru-chan. This is all hypothetical. Who says I’ll survive it?” Soshiro laughed. The truth of the possibilities fell flat between them and Narumi shook his head.
“It’s you. You and Ten are perfect for each other.” Narumi said, in the same tone he would use to have ordered someone on the field. He shoved a hand against Soshiro’s chest with blazing eyes, “Now take me back to your room, Hoshina.”
“Yes, Captain.” Soshiro answered, curling their hand together as he guided them back to his recently emptied quarters. They were lucky that it was past lights-out and the halls were cleared of officers. The only two people who were aware of their strange rivalry being Captain Ashiro and Retainer Hasegawa.
His keycard activated against the lock and Soshiro almost stumbled as Narumi pushed them inside. They fell to the floor of the small hallway into the room as the door closed behind them. Narumi dived down and pressed their mouths together hungrily.
He pulled away, breathing heavily. Narumi grinned viciously, “Fuck me as yourself, for the last time.”
“Will it be that different?” Soshiro retorted, pulling his shirt over his head before helping Narumi do the same. He laid back against the cold floor as Narumi sat back astride his stomach, lazily rubbing his ass against the fabric over Soshiro’s cock.
Narumi shrugged, “No, but it is different. You’ll see more, you’ll feel more. You’ll be twice the person you are now.”
“So, if I make it - I can fuck you twice as hard?”
“You will.” Narumi said, hiking his hips up to lower his gym shorts. Soshiro followed and shimmied his sweat pants under his ass. After so many of these sparring sessions that all end the same, they’ve learned to not wear anything else underneath. They pressed against each other, rubbing and rutting at each other, as Narumi lowered himself for another kiss, “You will.”
[ INTEGRATION FINISHED ]
It stung. It was a feeling of being ripped apart and stitched back together again with pieces that were all too unfamiliar. Jagged, where Soshiro felt should be smooth. Conversations and alarms rung around his head. The tube in his mouth felt suffocating even with the air he knew he was receiving. His eyes burned as if they were being peeled back. Soshiro was losing pieces of himself and gaining new ones all at the same time.
“He’s destabilizing.” The intern panicked, her voice raising at the end. Her friends called her lucky once - not every intern received the opportunity to watch an integration process happen in real time. Especially one with such high potential for succeeding - after all, there were more successful integrations this year than in the past few decades. She was truly more terrified than honored, especially when every screen above Hoshina’s body in the tank flashed with warnings.
Dr. Takamichi Hotaka laughed and studied the brainwaves, “They always do at the beginning. Isn’t that right, Captain Narumi?”
“You wanted monsters.” Captain Narumi said. He tapped the glass holding Hoshina’s body, cables and tubes running through flesh and bone. The vibrations trickled through the viscosity of the fluid keeping Hoshina alive under the pressure of the integration process. Once, then twice.
“We’re just what’s left.”
Once and then twice more.
Soshiro relaxed at the sound of Narumi’s voice. The tapping grounded him against the pain and he let himself drift into sleep. He dreamed of a thousand teeth, horns, and a single eye studying him.
Sleep.
[ OPERATOR #10 ONLINE ]
The Kaiju-Operator Quarters were no different from the quarters Division Three lived in, only smaller due to the limited number of members. Soshiro trailed behind Hasegawa slowly, still becoming familiar with his new set balance. He hasn’t looked at a mirror yet, but he wasn’t the type to be curious about small things like that.
Hasegawa paused at a doorway and gestured inside towards the central hub of their quarters. It was mostly bare but there was more life to it now than Soshiro would assume it had before this year. His three previous cadets stood from their spots, while Narumi stayed sitting on the large couch. All eyes glowed with the same eeriness he would find in his own.
“Welcome to the Monster Den,” Narumi grinned and Soshiro smiled back politely in the same way he knew that Narumi didn’t particularly like. The Captain continued with gritted teeth, “Home to freaks like us, and now - against my better judgement, that includes you.”
“My, my. I thought you held my skills in high regard, Captain.” Soshiro raised an eyebrow.
Narumi sneered, “I don’t doubt your skills, I just don’t like anything else about you.”
“That’s not what you said last time we shared such close quarters.” Soshiro said, walking closer. “You said something about my technique?”
A cough interrupted them as the red rose across Narumi’s cheeks. Soshiro stepped back and smiled at the three operators, “It’s wonderful to see you all again.”
Shinomiya and Ichikawa both avoided eye-contact, flushed with embarrassment from what their innocent eyes just had to witness, while Hibino simply grinned. He always rolled with the punches and Hoshina liked his simpleness. Hibino saluted, “It’s good to have you again, Vice-Captain.”
“I’m no longer Vice-Captain. Just Hoshina will do here.” Hoshina said and Hibino shrugged, collapsing back into the couch. The younger ones cautiously did the same.
“Well, now that our final member is here.” Narumi started, “Hoshina is our newest recruit so treat him nicely, just not too nicely or else he may forget his place. Over the next couple of weeks, we will train as a unit and as individuals. Keep an eye out for anyone you would like to recruit as a retainer, but it’s not a requirement.”
“You haven’t told us much, shitty Captain. What exactly does a retainer even do?” Shinomiya asked, picking at her nails. Soshiro was happy to see she respected him more than Narumi and kept that pride filed away for another day. He only understood the position vaguely - Hasegawa was the only retainer he’s ever really heard about.
Narumi made a rude gesture, “The worse the attitude, the less stories about your parents kid. Don’t taunt me.”
“Yes sir. Now tell us what Hasegawa does, other than keeping you alive for all these years.” Shinomiya rolled her eyes. “That must have been a full time job in of itself.”
“Har har, you’ve got your mothers humor.” Shinomiya’s eyes shined at that but Narumi continued, “It’s whatever you want them to be. I’m not even sure it’s standard to have a retainer - Eiji has been by my side since I can remember. It’s gotta be the one person you know you have to return to… whether it’s because you owe them a debt or your best friend or you love them. Whatever nonsense gets your head on straight when you step back into this ship.”
“Romantic.” Soshiro teased, “Why not someone from the unit?”
Narumi scoffed and stared at him, “What are you, a narcissist?”
“It’s a fair question. Why not rely on your team instead of an outsider?” He laughed. It was a fair question to ask when they would all be working together for the rest of their lives.
“Because how do you snap out of it when one of us is still out there? We are a team, a body that functions best together. If you have a wounded leg, you don’t rely solely on the other one. You need a crutch.” Narumi said and it was one of the few times Soshiro has ever seen him seriously. “If your reason to continue fighting is on this team, you are putting yourself in danger.”
“Understood.” Soshiro replied softly.
“I would like to submit the name for my retainer.” Ichikawa spoke up and it broke their heated gaze. Narumi grinned again and handed him a tablet.
He sunk further into the couch and waved a hand towards it, “Knock yourselves out. Retainers will need to approve it themselves but depending on their position in the ranks, they might function more like emergency contacts. If we can’t get you back under control, we call them to come deal with you.”
Ichikawa nodded, scribbling a familiar name, and Shinomiya did the same. Hibino smiled and passed it towards Soshiro, “I can’t say I have a good option outside of this team, so regretfully, I am in all of your hands.”
“Don’t worry, Hibino. We will put you down if necessary.” Soshiro smiled back and Ichikawa squawked.
Hibino laughed earnestly, “Thanks Vice-Captain.”
Soshiro looked at the tablet and the empty line beside his name. He looked at Narumi and he avoided his gaze. There was no other real option for Soshiro, so he wrote it in elegant letters and hoped it worked in her favor.
Mina Ashiro.
[ ERROR FOUND ]
The strangeness started slowly, with noises and words that Soshiro ignored, and then all at once. He woke occasionally with a low hum in his head, like a song he knew once before. He dreamed of monsters and lights, stars and an endless ocean.
You dream often.
Soshiro’s eyes flew open. He peered into the darkness of his room and beside him, Narumi slept noiselessly. The voice grumbled, So he can finally hear me. Hello So-shi-ro.
“It’s impolite to not introduce yourself, especially when you already know my name.” Soshiro whispered in response. He pushed Narumi’s arm off his waist and shushed him when Narumi made a noise of protest. He whispered closer to his bed partner, “I’m going to the washroom. I’ll be back soon.”
Narumi grunted and tossed towards the other side. Soshiro made his way to the small bathroom in the corner without stumbling, locking the door behind him. He rinsed his face in the sink and stared at the mirror, truly looking at all the changes for the first time. Soshiro asked, “Who are you?”
You know who I am, Soshiro. The tenth Kaiju said, grinning at the edges of Soshiro’s image. You and I are one.
“Should I be concerned or are you going to play nice?” Soshiro said, prepared to grab the razor on the sink and eliminate the threat in any manner.
He felt the shrug in their voice when Ten answered, I have nothing better to do. We will achieve more together - and it will be interesting to see how my gift interacts with your physiology.
“I’m assuming you won’t tell me before.” Soshiro teased, half-serious. Gifts were typically predicted by the battle with the Kaiju, but Ten never showed their cards. He was an easy capture, too easy to say it wasn’t part of their plan.
The creature laughed, No, it’ll be a surprise for us and our pod.
“Our pod?” Soshiro raised an eyebrow, touching his face. Goosebumps trailed under his touch and he studied the glowing purple eyes that stared back.
What’s yours is mine now, Soshiro. You and I are a collective, and our pod relies on our strength. Ten stated, as though it was the most obvious rationalization to their predicament. I’ll take care of you.
“I don’t need you to take care of me.” He said adamantly, “The moment you are shown to be a danger to my division, I will not hesitate to kill us both.”
Yes, Soshiro. He imagined Ten rolling his eyes. Return to bed. We have much more to dream about.
Soshiro powered off the lights and crept back into the bedroom. Narumi was curled in a tight ball at the center of the bed, arms wrapped around Soshiro’s pillow. It would no doubt be soaked in drool the next morning.
They were beautiful, Ten whispered. Soshiro watched Narumi dig his nails into the pillow like a cat and doubted it. He shrugged, “I’ve seen more astounding sights.”
I’m not talking about who you know. Ten hissed, I speak of Wuh Wuh'rak Veh.
“I don’t know what you said.”
You called them the First - The first of my kind that was dissected apart and now, they’ve twisted into something different. Something not unlike you and I.
“You sound fond.” Soshiro lowered his voice as he knelt onto the bed. He wrapped his arms around Narumi’s waist and pulled his closer. He playfully grinded against the warmth while Narumi groaned, leaning back into the warmth.
Humans have words like ‘love.’ We do not have such limited terms. We are beyond that. They were mine, I was theirs. Just as you were his, he was yours. But now, theirs and ours.
[ INTERNAL OPERATOR ERROR DETECTED ]
“Did you hear them?” Hibino was the first to notice, as he would expect. He looked Soshiro over with critical inhuman eyes, “You did.”
He paused, looking up from his tablet. “Heard what?”
The Eighth Kaiju was an anomaly that Captain Ashiro never bothered to explain. Division Three captured an insignificant creature that radiated fire that was colder than space and with it, the Force shrugged it off. It was nothing as grand as the previous Kaijus and their hands quickly became full with the Ninth. That monster was given priority, even when it was reported that Eighth escaped into the maintenance pipes.
It would die without fuel, they told everyone.
And yet.
Kafka Hibino succeeded the grand test that no one else dared: a natural integration between monster and man. He looked more Kaiju than typical Operators - not only did his eyes have the same eerie glow they all had, his teeth were sharp and his mouth opened unnaturally wide. Unkempt hair would reveal horns and if they cut him, he bled blue. Soshiro would argue Operators were monsters in human suits.
Hibino was a man inside a monster.
“I’m assuming we do not speak of it outside of these walls.” Soshiro sighed. Ichikawa and Shinomiya looked at their Captain for verification.
“No,” Narumi said pointed. “We do not mention that Operators can communicate with their Kaiju mind-buddies. Some of them closer than others, but roommates we don’t mention none the less.”
Shinomiya’s golden eyes tracked her Captain carefully and when her brows furrowed, she truly was the mirror image of her mother. Soshiro would be blind to not see the resemblance, he wondered if Narumi felt the same. She frowned, “How much does this connection really affect us?”
Ten snarled, Not enough.
“How outspoken are yours?” Soshiro redirected with earnest curiousity.
Hibino shrugged, “It’s not really talking, more like image-sharing. It’s hard to separate our thoughts, sometimes. Lots of ebbing and flowing. Less language, more intent.”
“The voice itself sometimes sounds like my mother, but they mostly just uses single words. Home. Stars. Stuff like that.” Shinomiya made a sour face at that.
“They are capable of sentences, but their not the most talkative.” Ichikawa reported. They each exchanged glances before looking at their captain and Ichikawa cleared his throat, “And you, Captain?”
“Mine’s dead.” Narumi said in a neutral tone and Soshiro winced internally. Tenth growled, Too much tampering, too much damage. They’re too quiet for our human but they are echoed in his eyes. The pink gaze fell onto Soshiro and he could almost see the ghost in the reflection of stars there, “How cognoscente is Ten, Hoshina?”
“Enough to annoy me.” He smiled. Subversion was not a deception, he allowed himself to believe. It didn’t matter though, not when the look in Narumi’s eyes said he already knew the truth.
Narumi raised an eyebrow, “Are you compromised, Hoshina?”
Yes, Tenth said.
“No,” Soshiro said.
Ten laughed and it rippled across his chest like a second heartbeat. He taunted Soshiro, Liar.
It was not a lie if Narumi asked the wrong question, Soshiro thought. Ten could not compromise him and his iron-held ideals, the creature was a part of him now but his alone. He was compromised before that, from the beginning - With Ashiro, with Narumi, and now, with this new division he’s been tasked to watch over.
Liar, Tenth repeated.
[ ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO DELETE ERROR LOGS ? > Y < OR > N < ]
Their first mission went sideways quickly. Soshiro, Tenth growled in warning and Soshiro spun in time to watch a small meteoroid crash into Ichikawa’s shoulder and sent him spiraling. He stilled his first instinct of going to him, the faceless creature still roaring as it thrashed in the net. Shinomiya’s hold began to loosen, her jetpack failing to propel her back with enough force. Narumi was already bleeding from his eyes as he fired another shot.
It wasn’t a Kaiju.
A Leviathan, Ten supplied. That which hunts everything in it’s path and your foolish ships fell into it’s hands.
“How do we deal with it?” Soshiro grunted, hurling himself towards Shinomiya. He wrapped himself around her waist and knocked against her amplifiers. They stuttered and reignited, allowing her more power to pull back the net. She growled viciously with the new strength and he propelled himself back towards the leviathan.
The same way you deal with any predator. Tenth said with a cheeky tone, You show it our teeth.
Hibino spiraled forward, mask dislodged to accommodate his growing mouth as his teeth elongated. His body buckled under the armor with horned flesh piercing through and he dug his claws into the creature.
“Eiji, cut the video feed now.” Narumi snapped into comms, his face already splitting with various new bloody pink eyes. They bounced across the battle field in an effort to examine all possible tactical procedures.
“You do not have that authority -“ Someone in Control began and was promptly cut out as Hasegawa’s voice broke through the static, “Video feed cut, Captain. Operators, we hope for your safe return.”
Narumi stretched and lowered his mask, breathing in the emptiness in space. His shoulders pads cracked as new appendages broke through and horns pressed through the sides of his hair. He licked his lips and winked at Soshiro when he caught his gaze, “Alright, my little monsters. Time for a hunt.”
Protect the pod, Soshiro. Ten growled.
He didn’t understand exactly what he was meant to do, but Soshiro trusted Narumi. He even trusted Ten to an extent. So when Narumi pointed towards his mask, Soshiro nodded and pulled. He breathed in and it felt like swallowing a thousand needles. Muscles widened and a horn pierced through his spinal piece, pulling taut against his skin. Teeth bursted through the sides of his mouth and Soshiro felt his back bone crack and split apart, allowing a strange monstrous tail to curl around him.
Ten spoke through his pain, You look good with my gift.
“A little warning would have been appreciated.” Soshiro gritted and Ten laughed. You haven’t even seen all of it.
“Hoshina, strike the chest. Kikoru and Ichikawa, make sure it can’t get away. I’ll go for the head.” Narumi barked orders and they instinctively followed, trusting their Captain blindly. Shinomiya tightened her hold with her newly grown appendage and her grotesque third eye flickered. Ichikawa breathed frost, his three tails propelling him to circle the leviathan as he froze the creature’s lower limbs.
Soshiro allowed his tail to spin them and gripped his daggers as he shot forward at full momentum like an inhuman drill. He hit the chest of the leviathan with force and it’s shell creaked under his force. His tail spun faster and he pressed deeper into the strange armor of the creature.
Do not limit yourself to your human form, Soshiro. Ten whispered. You have me now.
With that, Soshiro let go. His limbs lengthened and a horn took it’s place on his head. More spikes pierced through his shoulders and his chest split down the middle, a large white orb glaring through flesh. His mission swords, made of Ten’s own teeth, dug into his palms and he bled.
He pierced through the creature.
Narumi cackled above him, his bayonet embedded deep inside the leviathan’s skull. He was covered in blue blood and brain matter, and Soshiro was covered in guts and entrails. He looked around at his new team, all more monstrous than Kaiju they’ve fought, and realized there was no where else Soshiro was meant to be.
Yes, Ten said. You belong here.
So, Soshiro threw his head back and laughed.

“Are we finally having sex today, or should I just sleep like I’ve been doing the last few weeks.” Gen stretched backwards across his sheets. He laid there naked as he batted his eyes, “You haven’t really fucked me after the integration process.”
Fuck our pretty mate, Soshiro. Ten whispered.
Soshiro crawled closer, “There’s something you know about what's happening and while I’m not absolutely sure what it is, I have theories. But they don’t matter since it keeps you in my bed.”
“Words are so limiting, Soshiro.” Gen whined, “There’s no name for what we are. We just are and we know it.”
Ten paused his humming, I hear them.
Soshiro raised an eyebrow and dragged him closer by the legs, curling them around his waist. He kissed him once, “That sounds like a love confession.”
“I confess that I don’t hate you.” Gen scoffed and sat up, grabbing their cocks together with one hand and starting the slow pumping rhythm they both liked. Soshiro caught his next moan with a kiss and bit down hard, enough to draw blood. He licked the wound after and Gen’s pupils were blown wide open when he caught his gaze.
Soshiro pressed his fingers against his mouth and Gen opened without hesitation. He drooled on Soshiro’s fingers, enough to wet them for their next task. He hiked Gen higher against him to prep him with his saliva-coated fingers as Gen’s cock rubbed against his stomach. He bit Gen’s neck at the same time he started and laid kisses everywhere he could reach, “We should talk about it one day.”
Gen groaned, “Or never.”
“Fine. Just don’t forget your mine now.” Soshiro bit at his mouth and once he was sufficiently ready, he dragged Gen down onto his cock with one motion. “Mine.”
Ours.
Narumi threw his head back and moaned, echoing the same words. “Ours.”

“Major?” The cadet knocked lightly at the door. Major Ashiro didn’t look up from her screen as he continued, trying to reign in his nerves. “The general is looking for you.”
“You can report back that I have not had enough time to properly assess the list of proposed candidates for my former position. I’ve had to deal with messes the prior Major left behind, as well as a few personal matters.” She said, waving her hand. “Tell him that I will have my proposed changes for Division Three by the end of the week and no sooner.”
