Discover Where Our Path May Lead Us

Summary:

A mission to slay demons entrusted in to the hands of two unlikely partners - Giyuu and Sanemi. But there's a catch - Sanemi despises Giyuu with every fiber of his being. He thinks he's arrogant and can't stand the thought of working with him. Giyuu, on the other hand, remains silent and stoic, exhibiting an unyielding demeanor. Despite Sanemi's initial dislike for Giyuu and his perceived arrogance, they must put their differences aside and work together to achieve their goal. Their leader, Oyakata-sama, has entrusted them with this crucial task, and failure is never an option. Despite Sanemi's constant complaints and insults towards Giyuu, he remains steadfast and focused on the task at hand. In the end, it's clear that they have no choice but to work together if they want to finish the mission. Will they be able to put their differences aside and work as a team? Only time will tell.

Giyuu turned to Sanemi, his voice gentle and understanding. "I know it's difficult, but we mustn't let our emotions cloud our judgment. It's important that we set aside our personal feelings and work together to help those in need. The village is counting on us, and we can't let them down."

As the Hashiras' meeting with Oyakata-sama drew to a close, he asked Sanemi and Giyuu to come closer. "My dear children, may I kindly request a moment to speak with the both of you after our meeting?" Oyakata-sama conveyed with the utmost grace and courtesy.

"Of course, Oyakata-sama," Sanemi responded with a firm yet deferential tone. As for Giyuu, he simply gave a single nod, tacitly concurring with obeisance to their esteemed master's request.

Sanemi was all like, 'Ugh, seriously?' and shot Giyuu a dirty look out of the corner of his eye. 'He's so full of himself, it's almost laughable! He just gave a little nod and didn't even bother to answer Oyakata-sama properly. It's like he thinks he's too good for basic manners. What a total jerk!'

Sanemi's eyes blazed with fury as he again shot a quick glance at Giyuu. His mind was racing with thoughts of anger and frustration, but he kept his emotions in check. With a discreet side-eye, he let Giyuu know that he was not pleased.

'Frankly, if Oyakata-sama wasn’t here, I would have already given this guy a good old-fashioned punch right in his smug mug! I mean, seriously, he's so full of himself! I can't help but feel the urge to knock him down a peg or two."  Sanemi simmered with an intense fury, poised to unleash his wrath upon the slightest provocation.

Giyuu could discern that something had ignited his ire, and he found himself the hapless target of Sanemi's vicious side glances. 'What could have possibly transpired to elicit such a venomous glance from Shinazugawa-san?' he pondered.

Their master seemed to sense the tension as well so following this, with the assistance of his daughters Hinaki and Nichika; he gracefully rose to his feet and bid the remaining Hashiras a cordial farewell. “I must bid you all farewell. I sincerely hope that each and every one of you will experience a day filled with peace and harmony.”

The other Hashiras chimed in with their own farewells, ready to return to their own estates. With a final farewell, they turned and set off on their separate paths, each one eager to continue their own journey aside from Muichiro who lives with the Ubuyashikis.

"Let’s go, my dear children. I have a matter of importance that I would like to discuss with both of you." said Oyakata-sama as he began to walk and motioned for Sanemi and Giyuu to follow.

"Hai, Master," Sanemi and Giyuu said, following their master and his daughters.

Sanemi and Giyuu were escorted to an unoccupied chamber and promptly assumed a kneeling position on a plush, velvety cushion that had been thoughtfully arranged for them, following the example of their esteemed master who had already taken his place on his own cushion.

“Allow me to cut straight to the heart of the matter. I am entrusting the two of you with a mission to investigate a recent demon attack at a nearby village.” Without any hesitation, the master promptly articulated his intention for engaging in a conversation with the duo. "Eliminate any demons you come across and protect the villagers."

"What?! Oyakata-sama, don't get me wrong, I totally respect you and hold you in the highest regard, but I can't deal with that guy! I mean, come on, he's so full of himself! It's just not gonna work out!”

Giyuu pondered in silence as Sanemi vented to their master, 'Why does Shinazugawa-san harbor such animosity towards me? Have I committed any wrongdoing?'

"My dear children, although I may no longer possess the gift of sight, I perceive with my heart. I am aware of the strained relationship that exists between the two of you. I do not wish to impose upon you any task that may be deemed disagreeable. However, the other Hashiras have already been assigned their respective missions. Furthermore, I believe this mission will serve as an opportunity that could bring you closer as comrades."

With a kind smile, Oyakata-sama looked upon them. "You guys still have a mission to accomplish - hunting demons is the priority. Will you accept?"

"I accept, Oyakata-sama," Giyuu said simply, without any flair.

Sanemi let out a deep sigh and nodded his head in agreement. "Yes, Master."

"I am pleased that we have reached an agreement. I must now take my leave, my children. I wish to retire to my chambers," he stated, rising from his seat with the assistance of his two eldest daughters. "Sanemi and Giyuu, my children, you are welcome to stay longer if you so desire. I bid you both farewell and look forward to seeing you after the mission."

“We also bid you farewell, Master.”

A few minutes after Oyakata-sama left….

"Pardon me, Shinazugawa-san?”

Sanemi's blood is heating up like a volcano ready to erupt! He's practically salivating at the thought of landing a knockout punch right on Giyuu's pretty little face. The tension is palpable as Sanemi's fists clench and his eyes narrow, ready to unleash his fury. 'Oh, come on! What on earth does this annoying jerk want from me? Seriously, can't you take a hint? I'm not interested in having you anywhere near me!'

"I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you, Shinazugawa-san." As Giyuu approached Sanemi; he couldn't help but notice the fiery anger brewing within the other slayer. But that didn't stop him from trying to strike up a conversation with him. Despite the tension in the air, Giyuu remained determined to bridge the gap between them.

“Shinazugawa-san…I...”

Sanemi's frustration boiled over as he unleashed a fiery tirade on Giyuu. "Seriously, what's your deal, asshole!? Can't you see that I'm not interested in talking to you? Or are you just completely clueless?" Sanemi's voice echoed through the room as he let out his pent-up anger. "You're driving me crazy! I don't want anything to do with someone like you! You're only doing this to make me look bad, aren't you? Just admit it already!"

"Shinazugawa-san, please accept my sincere apologies if I have caused any discomfort or offense. My intention is not to do so, but rather to engage in a conversation with you." Giyuu humbly lowered his head as a gesture of contrition.

"Absolutely not, you jerk! That's never going to happen! I can't stand you! You're such an arrogant jerk! So just zip it and get outta my face!" Sanemi yelled as he got up to ditch poor Giyuu.

"It’s important to foster a more amicable camaraderie amongst us, as per our master's wishes," stated Giyuu. "I am keen on fulfilling our master's expectations.”

"I want to be your friend too Shinazugawa-san. But I can't help feeling a bit perplexed as to why you hate me. Can you tell me what I did wrong?" Giyuu admitted softly, hoping to convey his sincerity, but unfortunately, his words came out sounding uninterested. It's not that he doesn't care; he's just not the best at conversations.

Sanemi brushed off Giyuu's words with a dismissive wave of his hand. He couldn't stand his “condescending tone” and the way he always acted like talking to them was a burden. It was enough to make him see red. "Ugh, that's exactly why I can't stand you! You're always like this, making it seem like we're not worth your time. I'm sick of it! Just back off already! I'm done with your crap! So, for the love of all that's holy, just leave me alone! Don't even think about trying to talk to me!"

Sanemi's fury was palpable as he stormed out of the room, leaving Giyuu standing there in stunned silence. The resounding echo of Sanemi's heavy footsteps reverberated through the empty space, until finally, they dissipated into the ether. Despite Giyuu's outward composure, he was deeply wounded by Sanemi's cutting words. He had never intended to appear haughty or indifferent, and the mere notion of Sanemi perceiving him in such a light was akin to a dagger piercing his heart. Nevertheless, Giyuu knows deep down that he is capable of so much more. He longs for chance to show Sanemi and the world that he is not the arrogant, indifferent man they perceive him to be.

'But how can I make them see the real me?' he ponders with a heavy heart, determined to find a way to prove his worth.

'Sanemi bears a profound antipathy towards me, yet I am utterly captivated by his scorching temperament and enthralling aura. He is the one who ignites the flames of my heart, the very embodiment of my adoration. Alas, he remains oblivious to the fervor of my passion.'

He sighed with a heavy heart as the chamber he was in became imbued with such a profound stillness that it seemed as though the very hush was bellowing out the agony of an unrequited love. The weight of that unfulfilled longing was stifling, like a heavy blanket that smothered any hope of happiness.
