Audrey was taking careful steps, just trying to reduce any noise she might make while wearing odd socks. She was exploring a little bit of the castle's ground. It was impossible to fall asleep, so Drey went for a short walk outside. That's when she saw them... A massive deer (probably a moose), a Grim, and a rat, in just that same sequence, lined up in a tower, following Remus. Doubting her eyes and not wanting any detentions from the prefect, she blinked, took a deep breath, and turned around, thinking that it might be time to sleep a little just before she started seeing werewolves roaming the halls.
The next day, during breakfast, she could hear the Marauders, as they called themselves, giggling over something. That's when she knew she wouldn't be touching her breakfast this morning. So she tried to grab one of her Slytherin friend's attention to prevent them from that as well. It wasn't difficult as they were communicating using their own sign language. Just as everyone else touched breakfast, it was chaos... (Remember the spell Hagrid used in Dudley? Well, that, but with the animals from the Hogwarts' houses). It appears that neither she nor the Slytherin change caught the marauders' attention, as the one currently referred to as Wormtail signaled over herself and said something along the lines of "signs." The traitorous rat.
So, while giving her friend another glance, signaling over the food, the marauders, and the professors with her head, and waiting for a nod from the other. Both took a small bite to lower suspicions, with the four and the teachers. Claws in her hands and a few scales in her friend's face were a low price to pay. Especially if that meant they wouldn't be bothered by the pranksters or the repercussions Professor McGonagall was about to give them.
Throughout the day, she could feel the boy's glances, and she could even hear a little bit of whispering. She'd be dammed if she said she wasn't scared. Having attention and not being either Lily Evans or Severus Snape always means trouble. Even if the attention the other one received was already bad news. So she was wary of everything that could be a prank, evaluating them and deciding whether to avoid them. She knew she might get more unnecessary attention, but she didn't feel like going purple with Sparkles today.
Consulting her friend, Maximilian, during potions class, whose name had a funny story behind it, because Mili's a girl, and who coincidentally was that one Slytherin friend who also got "away" from the prank, she got to know that although she wasn't the only one being observed, she was the most watched. Probably because she's also a Gryffindor, and they may be considering her a traitor for helping the "enemy." She also had to admit that their relationship was a bit strange. But they grew up together, and it was an understatement to say they were glued together.
Going for a walk to the black lake, alone, as Mili was in her arithmancy class and she had a free period, she found a dog. But not any dog, nope, it was the Grim, the same who was following Remus just the night before. It was looking at her, and before she knew it, she was pampering the fluffy fur the black one had to offer.
"Who's a good boy? You, you're a good boy! Wait... you're a boy, right?" She tried to check the Grim's gender, which the fluffy thing didn't seem fond of. It tried to hide away, but it was too late. It even seemed a little embarrassed. "Well, you're a boy, so... what were you doing following Lupin the other night? He's a prefect, so I don't think it was a good idea. He could have taken you to Professor McGonagall, and you'd be out."
The poor thing seemed too embarrassed to see her in the eyes, and she could have sworn she heard something move from behind the bushes. "What's that?" The dog tried to catch her attention again, and she kept cuddling him. "You know? You remind me of this dog I had. Its name was Pocky, and it was tiny but cute nonetheless."
The dog, finally able to see her eyes, gave her a look as if to continue talking, and so she did. She talks about its fur, eating habits, the bed she made for the small thing, its bark, and a few other things, such as how it felt when it died and how life's been without her Pocky by her side. She also told him about her friend, with a boy's name, since her mother fell asleep without naming her, and she was rolled in a blue sheet, so her father thought she was a boy. She told him about her favorite flowers, gardenias, because why not? And even the thing she had for Sirius Black,
"So remember that Remus guy I talked about earlier? He's part of this prankster group, along with Sirius and two other boys. I like their pranks since they're fun, but sometimes I think they take it too far, you know?" It looked at her. "Well, there's this boy, Severus Snape. My friend's sister likes him a little. I think it has something to do with their blood, you know? Marrying potion's masters and everything. Maxi has a massive crush on Regulus Black. He's a friend of hers' and very good at potions, but she wants to be more than friends... and I am losing the point."
"Sorry. Anyways. I know the marauders and Severus had their differences, especially because James and Severus had a crush on Lily, not that I blame them. She's stunning and incredibly brilliant. But as far as I'm aware, Sev is now interested in Cathryn, Max's big sister, and believe me when I say that if he marries Maxi's family, we won't ever need to worry about anything dark, considering that he will be way too occupied brewing potions and making new ones. Max's mother was a dark lady in the making. But it seems that the moment she entered the family, she only focused on potions. With the possibilities and number of ingredients, they had at disposition. Could you believe it? Ok, I lost the point again. But if they got together, it would be very beneficial."
She stopped for a minute as if considering something. "Maybe I should talk about it to them, not that we're close, but they have been a little strange lately, you know? I just tried to evade a prank and told a friend to evade, and now they're making a fuss over it... Such drama queens..." The Grim looked offended. "What? Are you also a Drama queen?" Offended again. She laughed. When she stopped, she saw her friend in the distance.
She left the dog to stand up and wait for her friend to arrive. The fluffy one is still offended. "Hello there, what have you been into while I was pushing my brains out in arithmancy?"
"Nothing much, just telling our whole story. To the Grim, I found by the lake." Audrey smiled. Maximilian shivered.
"A dog..?"
"Yeah," Max looked like she was about to pass out. "Oh, right, you don't like dogs."
"Of course not, they're too... You know what I mean..."
"Cute?"
"Yeah, but they usually try to make puppies with you by forcing themselves into you, so that takes away the cuteness." She took a look at the dog. Maxi paled. Audrey broke into laughter.
"You just have bad luck with dogs. Although you can't say they don't like you. Since they want to have intercourse with you." Still dying of laughter.
"Yeah, because that's so funny." Lian rolled her eyes. "Let's go, it is almost time for DADA." "Say goodbye to your friend." She started walking away.
Drey cuddled the Grim one last time. Kissed him on the forehead and went running towards her friend.
When she was far enough to not see him anymore, the Grim transformed himself into no one less and none else than Sirius Black. While heading to DADA and hearing his friend's mockery after they came out of the bushes, he thought about the usually quiet Gryffindor girl who saw his privates, told him about her life, and kissed him on the forehead.
"So... Pads, did you find any useful information in Lady 'You're a drama queen' to make her a prank, or have you finally settled down and fallen in love?" Said James, with an annoying smirk on his face.
The next few months, gardenias keep appearing in the great hall addressed to Audrew with a small message saying. 'The Fluffly Grim on who you have a little thing.'
