Chapter Text
It has been one long summer after the yellow jackets had won nationals. Shauna had gone to Brown after a long fight with Jackie about not telling her she had applied for a different college. They ended up making up in the end.
Jackie went to Rutgers. Van and Tai moved to New York and were taking a gap year. Lottie, Mari, Gen, and Melissa have also gone to brown. Laura Lee and Nat have also gone to Rutgers.

Ring ring ring, Shauna groaned as she woke up to her alarm at 5 a.m. for the 100th time. Rolling onto her side trying to find her phone.
She has never been a morning person. Deb has always had to come into her room at least five times every day for school to make sure she is awake. But Shauna is determined to get to classes on time for college. Well at least for the first year that is.
“Turn that shit off Shipman,” Mari yelled half asleep.
Of course, the person she has to share a dorm with is Mari Sinapellido.
Shauna rolled her eyes and found her phone turning her alarm off. “One day I'm just going to stop waking you up Sinapellido,” Shauna says getting out of bed.
All Shauna gets back from Mari is a mumbled fuck you.
Shauna gets out of bed and calls Jackie. A routine they have started since they left for college.
“Good morning Shipman,” The blonde's voice comes through the phone.
“Good morning Taylor why do you sound so happy it's 5 a.m.?” Shauna asked as she looked around for clothes to wear.
“No reason at all,” Jackie’s voice is higher than usual.
Shauna isn't buying it. After all these years of being best friends, Shauna can always tell when the girl is lying. But it is way too early in the morning to care.
They talk on the phone till 6 a.m. rolls around. “Hey Jackie it's 6 I got to wake Mari up and head to class,” the brunette said while picking up her phone.
“Okay talk to you later Shauna bye,” Jackie says before hanging up the phone.
Shauna walks over to Mari's bed, “Get up Mari it's 6 we are going to be late if you don't get your ass up,” Shauna says as she pushes Mari awake.
“Alright alright stop yelling,” Mari mumbled before rolling onto her back.
Mari gets up and gets dressed for the day. The two girls head to their first class of the day around 6:30. Dreading the long day of school that awaits them.

One thing Shauna had told herself was that she wouldn't be going to any college parties. But here she is at a college party.
The music is way too loud for Shauna’s liking.
She turns to tell Mari, Gen, and Melissa she is going outside. But Mari is nowhere to be found and Gen and Melissa are making out.
Shauna turns back around and walks outside. She sits down against the house's wall and closes her eyes.
“Parties were never really your thing,” Shauna jumps and opens her eyes. She looks up to see Lottie fucking Matthews.
Shauna hasn't talked to Lottie since nationals. She might sneak glances at Lottie during the classes they share. But Shauna hasn't been able to say a word to the brunette in months. After that night after nationals in the hotel room, Shauna decided to avoid Lottie. Well, that was until now.
Lottie sits down next to Shauna. “Since Jackie isn't here to drag you to this party what made you come?” Lottie asks as she looks at Shauna.
Shauna sighs. “Honestly I have no idea why I am at this stupid party.”
Lottie smiles and stands up. She holds her hand out. “Then let's get out of here, Shipman.”
“And go where exactly?” Shauna questions the brunette.
“Just trust me okay,” Lottie smiles waiting for Shauna to take her hand.
Shauna rolls her eyes and takes Lottie’s hand.
Lottie drags Shauna to her car. They sit in silence for a while. Shauna hates it she wants to know why Lottie walked up to her in the first place. She especially wants to know where the girl is taking her. But she stays quiet and doesn't ask any questions.
After a long twenty minutes, the car finally comes to a stop. “We are here,” Lottie announces as she looks at Shauna.
Shauna looks out the window and sees a lake then looks at Lottie. “Why exactly are we at a lake in the middle of the night?” Shauna is now annoyed. She wishes she had just gone back to her dorm.
Lottie just shrugs her shoulders and gets out of the car.
Shauna sighs and follows her. She now fully regrets coming here with Lottie.
Lottie walks towards the rocks and sits down on one.
“So are you going to tell me why we are here or?” Shauna questions as she sits down next to Lottie.
Lottie doesn't say anything. Which pisses Shauna off. She never understood the brunette. She doesn't think she ever will.
Lottie was different. Shauna couldn't figure her out. The one thing she was always good at was reading people and figuring them out. But with Lottie, she couldn't. Shauna hated it. She hated not being able to figure Lottie out. What she hated even more was she hardly knew a thing about Lottie while Lottie was walking around with Shauna’s biggest secret. A secret nobody but Lottie knows.
“I haven't told anyone, you know?” Lottie's voice snaps Shauna out of her thinking.
She looks at Lottie. “What?”
Lottie then meets Shauna’s gaze. “I haven't told anyone about you know? The thing we talked about back at nationals.”
Shauna would be lying if she said she was surprised. She wasn't. Everyone knows Lottie doesn't gossip, she doesn't go around telling everyone other people's secrets. Lottie hates gossip.
“Thank you.”
Even though the two girls played soccer together in high school Shauna truly doesn't know a thing about Lottie. Well, she knows the girl is rich, good at soccer, and loves the hell out of the color pink. But Shauna doesn't know Lottie at all.
