Another explosion goes off next to Tianna, ricocheting and knocking her off her balance momentarily. Tianna regains her focus and brings her lightsaber back up in time to deflect another shot from the droids. Swiping away her brown hair from her view, She takes in her surroundings, scanning the decreasing number of troopers pressing forwards against the enemy, and the droids in the distance, hiding between the large rocks the surrounding area gives for cover.
The original plan for the mission was for her to take a small group of clones to do a sneak attack on the separatists when they weren't expecting it, and take their base, but, as always in this war, things didn’t go to plan.
Tianna screams into her comm, over the noise of the raging battle “ Admiral! We need backup! Send down the AT-TEs to cover us and comm my master and her troops!”
“Copy that, commander!”
Tianna scans the battlefield again, and notices the small ravine behind them that they had to scale on their way here. She makes her way in front of her men to give them cover, and gets the attention of captain cyclone. “ Captain!” She yells, “Get your men to cover in the ravine! We need to regroup and prepare for the reinforcements”
Captain Cyclone does just that, urging his men backward out of the line of fire of the enemy, into the ravine. Tianna soon follows, using her lightsaber to deflect incoming blaster fire. She lands at the bottom with a thud, and addresses the clones. “We have reinforcements coming, so we need to rethink our battle plan. Scout, I need you to stay back and protect our wounded, gunships will arrive to take you back to the base. Cyclone, You take the rest of our forces and keep the doids focused on you”
“What will you do, Commander?” Cyclone asks.
“I'll be taking Marko and Polo with me and see if we can’t take out one of their tanks, to give us advantage until help arrives. You still have explosives, correct?”
Marko and Polo nod, producing the back pack of explosives that was meant for the separatist base, but never got a chance to use. They check their blasters, stand, and start making their way out of the ravine. Cyclone takes the majority of what remains of their squad to attack head on, while Tianna, Marko and polo make their way around the battle, weaving through the large rocks and boulders that litter the landscape to take the droids by surprise.
They come out next to one of the separatists tanks, Tianna stops them a few meters away to see where the droids are positioned. She crouches down, Marko and Polo following suit.
“I’ll go out first, to draw most of their fire. You two use the explosives to take out as many tanks as you can. Then we retreat to where Cyclone and the rest of the battalion is, understood?”
The clones nod in agreement.Tianna stands, and ignites her lightsaber, which emits a green glow on its surroundings. She charges and the first two droids, quickly deflecting blaster fire. Behind her, Marko and Polo stand and make their way to the tank. Marko jumps up to the first layer, taking out the droid, While Polo makes his way to the top and drops an explosive in the hatch, Marko doing the same.
They jump off the tank as it explodes, taking a nearby droid with it. Tianna continues to take down droids and keep their focus off of Marko and Polo. They're only able to take one more tank before they get overrun. Tianna covers for Marko and Polo as they retreat to the position Cyclone and the rest of the men are in.
“That should help us fend them off until help arrives' ' Tianna says as she regroups with the rest of the men. Not Long after saying that, her comm buzzes
“Tianna, what is your location? My squadron is overhead, with reinforcements.”
Tianna sighs in relief “ We are a quarter click north of the ravine, master. And send an airship to the ravine, we have wounded men in need of medical attention”
“On it Tianna, tell your men to take cover, i'm coming in” Her master answers.
Overhead, a Jedi starship and eight Y-wing fighters come into view, as well as several gunships and an AT-TE.
Maybe this war will go their way, just once, Tianna thinks to herself.
