Luz Noceda’s Somewhat Successful Guide to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse

Summary:

We are in a Zombie Apocalypse.
Luz didn’t think that those words would ever appear on the news. It’s only been two months since the defeat of Belos, she’s promised her Mami that she would try to go to at least a week of regular school before they switch it to home school, and when she comes home, she finds the announcement, blaring across their TV.
That was one and a half years ago, Luz has survived for one and a half years on the back of a wolf that she nicknamed Enzo, and his small pack. She still remembered the confused look on Vee’s face when she shoved her back through the door, with Stringbean in her hands, she still remembered the way that she had destroyed the portal door, and the notes on how to make one to keep her family safe.
The Owlwing is known to be a ruthless mercenary, a firm leader to those in the town surrounding Gravesfield Connecticut, who fights with one arm, and no compassion for those who break her rules. And the small child who follows her everywhere.
Luz Noceda is known for nothing, except her immunity to the deadly virus that paints a target on her back.

Notes:

I don’t own any owl house characters only my OC.

Trigger warning: mentioned amputation, violence, blood, threats of rape.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

The air was gray as the leaves and old wrappers crunched under foot, a sigh left the cloaked figure walking through the empty street. They paused for a moment, only to nudge a bit of a zombie, an arm to be exact, to the side. The zombie had been part of the large hoard she had been watching the target fight.

Crouching down, she whistled softly, and almost instantly a large wolf loped over.

“Enzo, find.” the figure growled harshly. The wolf took a deep whiff of the glove in her hand, and howled sharply, the cloaked figure mounted the abnormally large beast, and it took off in a dead set sprint. Several other wolves followed from the shadows.

We are in a Zombie apocalypse.

The figure kept her eyes on the well worn and broken down highway.

For your safety please report to the nearest Red Cross Camp.

Her mind played those words that had blared across the world that day, the way that her younger sister had been so confused.

Refrain from interacting with the sick, injured, elderly and weak. They are more susceptible to the virus.

She remembered how she had found her mother in the kitchen backing away from a man who looked to be rotting from the inside out.

Avoid anyone who is acting strangely inhumane.

She still remembered vividly the way she had thrown herself in front of the charging zombie, and the feeling of its teeth tearing into her arm. The way her mom had screamed would forever haunt her memories. The beast had bitten her mom after she had fallen onto her back.

If you or anyone you know has been infected, attempt to remove the infected limb by amputation before the virus can be spread.

Her mama had taken the kitchen cleaver, and removed her arm. It had been painful, it had felt like thousands of hornets stinging her at once. She still recalled the sickening crunch of the knife driving through her bone. The way her mama had been apologizing the entire time. She recalled her mama sutchering the injury and wrapping it, her eyes having been getting more and more animalistic as she did so.

If amputation isn’t an option, be merciful, and end them.

The way her mama had pleaded with her to end her before she did any harm to anything would stick with her always. The way she had been alternating between  panting and snarling.

She remembered the feeling of the gun going off under her hands, the quiet whispers of “I love you” as the light faded from her mama’s eyes. She had rushed upstairs to her sister’s room and hurried to pack some of her clothes before waking her, handing her Stringbean, and shoving her through the portal door, her confused shouts still echoed through her head.

This is the end of this nation wide broad case, be safe out there everyone.

The government had collapsed after three weeks. World wide governments collapsed as the virus was spread by planes, and boats.

As far as she was concerned, those who had the guts to pull the trigger to end someone, that’s who made it in this titan damned apocalypse.

Enzo’s loud howl followed by the symphony drew her out of her dark thoughts as the pack approached a worn down warehouse. She could hear the frightened scrambling and the crying of her kid inside of it. As well as the taunting jeers.

She was as silent as a phantom as she slid off Enzo and approached the building. The first snow of winter crunched under foot when she walked. Her hand pulled her makeshift spear out of its holder, and her steel toed boot kicked the door open with a harsh bang.

The jeering and mocking went silent when she stared down the small gang of five adult men, who really ought to know better than to take what was hers

“Well, well, well. The mighty Owlwing actually shows up? I’ll be damned. “ the sneer revealed yellow teeth, and crazed eyes. The Owlwing’s eyes narrowed under her namesake owl mask. “ I’ll be taking my brother back. “ she spoke in a  monotone voice, heavily disoriented by her mask.

“No, I think you have the wrong idea here sweetheart . “ the man’s high pitched and his quite frankly annoying voice grated on her ears. “You’re staying with us, after all, girls are a rare commodity in this society ain’t that right boys!?”

The other four whooped disgustingly and Owlwing’s grip on her spear tightened.

Conner, cover your ears and close your eyes alright buddy, only open them when I give you the signal. “

The terrified child did as he was told, his hands clamped over his ears and his eyes squeezed shut tight. Once she was sure he wouldn’t hear much, she took off at terrifying speeds, the first one she took done, she took down with not a drop of mercy. Her spear went through his neck, and before any of the others could react, she had dispatched two more, leaving only two. She growled when she heard the tell tale click of a gun, she turned slightly and saw one of the remaining  two holding the weapon in hand.

“You do what I say,” there was a waiver of fear in his voice. “Or ya get shot ya hear?”

Owlwing lunged, the bang that rang out left her ears ringing and a hole in her thick cloak, but none of the gross men could get a blow on her before her spear drove through their chests.

Satisfied with her work she turned around, and walked to the trembling six year old. She tapped his shoulder in a certain pattern, waited a few seconds, before repeating the pattern again. Comber’s hazel eyes opened as he peeked through his fluffy mop of golden brown hair. She tilted her head slightly and kept her voice soft.

Did they hurt you?

“Th-they k-kicked my t-tummy a lot. “ the six year old stammered. “It hurts.” He added in a whimper as she draped her thick black cloak over his shoulders, swaddling him up before replacing her spear on her back. She used her arm to scoop him up onto her hip and she walked out of the room.

No one took what was hers and got away with it.
