To Gain an Asset

Summary:

The villain's sidekick is confronted by the hero they so overwhelmingly despise. Their beloved always had their eye on her, no matter what they did. Now, they're tied to a chair. She had them at her mercy. But, what happens when a deal is offered? One that they just couldn't refuse, it was too sweet. Maybe... too good to be true...

Work Text:

Their eyes widened as they realized he had left them. But that was okay. They knew he’d be back. He always was. For now, they just had to bide the time. The ropes tying them to the uncomfortable wooden chair were rough and scratchy. Unexpectedly, the heroine leaned in close, so close their noses nearly touched.

“You love him.” It wasn’t a question. You couldn’t find it in you to answer. Did you? Perhaps. Either way, you didn’t have to answer to a hero. “Don’t you realize he’ll never so much as say your name? Has he ever?”

That gave you pause. No, he hasn’t. But, it’s always been something better. Little pet names. Usually, something like ‘doll’ or ‘sweets’. They scolded themself for even doubting their beloved for a second. But, that second seemed to be all she needed. They gave her a venomous glare.

“So what?” Her lips turned upwards in a sickeningly sweet grin.

“You’re nothing to him. Don’t you understand?” She stood back up and circled them, taunting her so-called prey. They reminded themselves they didn’t have to stand this once their sweetheart was here. Only, they’d never call him that to his face.  He’d smack them down into tomorrow. “ I have his eye.” She practically glowed with a cunning, snide expression.

“He would never-” She interrupted them, “He already has.”

Their jaw dropped in shock. She looked so proud of herself, her eyes looking down at them with a crooked gleam. “You know he’s obsessed with me. He always has been. You’ve been trying so hard to do what I have been so effortlessly.” She leaned against the side of the chair- and them by extension- and threw her long hair over her shoulder. She was right. She’s been breathtaking for years now, even if they’ve never seen past her costume. It wasn’t extravagant by any means, but she made it seem like it was.

“Liar!” They shouted, They fought against their bindings, but couldn’t move an inch. A fire burnt deep with their eyes. They had the opportunity, they could use their magic. It wasn’t deadly, but if they could just…. They were snapped out of their thoughts quite literally, her fingers snapping in front of their face. She tutted in disappointment.

“Dear, has he never told you what my power is?” They paled as they realized what had just happened. She popped open a bottle of pills and pried open the sidekick’s teeth despite their best efforts. She slid the pill to the back of their throat, leaving them with two options; choke or swallow. They chose the latter. The heroine let them go as they coughed. “Now, can’t have you doing anything to precious lil’ me, now can we?” She smiled knowingly. She forced them to take a magic suppressant.

“I-” They were thrown into another coughing fit having to take the large pill dry. She waited them out with a both amused and compassionate gaze. An odd duo, but there nonetheless. She walked back in front of them and bent down to their eye level before gently grabbing their chin and tilting it up, forcing the pawn to look her in the eyes.

“What if I told you I could help you?” They scoffed, but it looked like she had expected this. “I know you doubt me, but I can tell you for a fact; I don’t want him.”

They looked stunned, only blinking for a few moments. She tittered. Why else had she rubbed it in their face that she had his heart? She answered before they could speak.

“He doesn’t love you, and he never will.” They opened their mouth to retort but she pressed a finger to their lips, effectively quietening them with an icy stare. “Listen. Now, I can’t make him love you either. So, the best we both can get out of this is letting you stay with him.”

“What’s the catch?” Everything had a catch. Even meeting their beloved had a catch. They had to throw all sense of normalcy away for a new one. A whole new life, just for him. She didn’t look surprised at their suspicion.

“Before things go too far, use him the same way he has used you. Bring him to me, and he can be all yours,” She grinned at them, “I’ve already talked to the hero committee about this. They agreed.” Their eye twitched in irritation.

“Elaborate.” And that, she did. She explained how if they could trick him into meeting up with a hero, not that he’d know it was, and they could capture him, they’d lock him away. But not prison, oh no, that’d be too harsh for you to agree with. She knew this and came up with an alternative. The villain and their pawn would be locked underground in a government building. It would be under some sort of facility, but they wouldn’t do anything more than they had to. They were ready to call off the deal before she went further into detail. Your beloved wouldn’t be able to hurt you or say no. If you wanted to cuddle or hug him, he had to oblige. You could do whatever you wanted for him. You could make dinner and have him not yell at you if wasn’t salty enough, or if there was a tad too much. The heroine knew she had you in her web when your eyes brightened.

“Now then, do we have a deal?” You nodded and she undid your bindings. You weren’t going to hurt her, not after she’s offered up her worth. You got up and held your hand out to make it official. She shook it with a genuine smile. “I’m sure you’ll enjoy your time with us.”
