Chapter Text
“All right, let’s get started.” Mr. Shue smiles clapping his hands together as a burst of gunfire goes off the entire Glee Club stops holding their breath as a second burst of gunfire goes off and kids begin screaming
“Guys hide.” Tillie says breaking out of her stupor breaking across the choir room clicking off the lights as the rest of New Directions hide in the choir room time seemed to blur as the door begins to bang in as a hooded figure slams his shoulder against the door, Kitty lets out a scream as the door explodes inwards the shooter raises his gun.
“Hey!” Brittany shouts grabbing his attention
“Leave her alone.” Tillie says walking up next to Brittany
“If you’re gonna hurt anyone hurt us.” Blaine says stepping in front of Kitty
“Fine.” The shooter says raising his gun, the trio gasps in horror as the gun goes off with a rat-atata, dozens of bullets fire in a spread hitting three seniors in the body the firsts few slam into Tillie’s chest and shoulder causing her body to twist as she fell more bullets slam into her abdomen before the final few hit her in the thighs, Brittany screams and seems to fold in half as round after round spray through her belly, falling in a strange macabre dance. Finally Blaine felt the shots hit him the chest throwing him back as the knocking the breath out of him, the rest of the room letting out wordless cries
There was a taste. It was acrid and it clung onto her tongue along with a metallic tang, there was pain shooting through her, emanating from her thigh, her shoulder, her abdomen and chest. Then came the choking feeling, nothing was getting past this lump, Tillie couldn’t swallow, couldn’t breathe. Oh god she couldn’t breathe. This was it, death had come seven feet ahead of her, an ugly twisted sneer paired with crooked teeth and a broken nose, then the next layer of fear set in as the colour drained from the room save for the blood pumping from her own body. She coughed as a heavy booted foot crashed into her abdomen causing her to spasm in pain and release a terrified broken scream. Then came the final level of tire terror. A figure long blonde hair, pretty blue eyes and a brilliant smile, Cheryl Stone Tillie’s mother.
“My dear you’ve been so brave, so brave.” Cheryl smiles
“How can I be brave when it hurts?” Tillie asks
“You’ll always be brave even when you’re afraid, even when it hurts.” Cheryl smiles
“Don’t go.” Tillie begs
“I can’t linger forever.” Cheryl says as she fades and Tillie reaches out a hand towards Brittany as she struggles with the pain running through her body. The three watch through glassy eyes as Mr Shue talks to the shooter his gun still raised before Coach Beiste spear tackles the shooter knocking him to the ground.
“Hold on guys.” Mr Shue says rushing over to the three wounded teens.
“Hurts.” Brittany wheezes her eyes glassy as a dribble of blood pools from her mouth and her eyes go still.
It didn’t hurt anymore Brittany thought as she joins hands with Blaine and Tillie. They were happy because even if they were dead it didn’t hurt anymore, they walked towards whatever waited for them on the other side. Looking back there were three pale broken corpses surrounded by crying friends. Kitty had Marley wrapped up in a hug pressing a soft kiss as Marley sobbed heavily, Ryder and Jake lifted Brittany and Blaine in a strangely macabre manner that was almost bridal style as Sam scoops up Tillie as she lets out a soundless scream.
As the boys took off running, a memory flashes there they are in the choir room, Santana cuddling Brittany in the back row, Kurt and Blaine holding hands in the middle row, Tillie and Max in the opposite corner on the back row to Santana and Brittany. “My love take your time, I’ll see you on the side.” Tillie says as the picture fades
The three felt their souls still tethered to their bodies. They follow hand in hand the three boys run through the corridors throwing away regard for their own life soon they break out into the afternoon sun and the three share a look.
“It’s not time to go yet is it?” Blaine asks
“I’ll see you on the other side.” Tillie smiles
“Raise a glass to freedom.” Brittany smiles as they take one final glimpse at the other side, Blaine’s sister is safe on the other side, Tillie’s mother is healthy on the other side, Brittany’s brother is happy on the other side. Their pain is gone.
