Welcome to the Family

Summary:

Patton knows he is right, he has to be. After all, he is in the white. That is all the world is, black and white, white and black. Everything he does has a purpose, right? Everything he does is to better Thomas, the one that really matters. If the others get hurt, so be it.

Notes:

Hello! This is a super old work that I'm finally posting, mostly because I love Sanders Sides. However, that does mean the writing is rather short, but I still love it. I wrote this after DWIT came out, but before SvS Redux, if that gives you any clue of how old it is... Please enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

There was a time Patton was more naïve, gullible, almost to a fault. At least, that’s what the other’s thought. That is, he was naïve and gullible, but it was to a fault and he was limited. Limited to black and white, good and evil, hero and villain. No gray, no common, no vigilante. So yes, when he saw a chance to separate blue and yellow he took it, leaving green in the middle. Green like the gardens and grass that was between the two. Twisted, knotted, thorny, and overgrown. And it would stay that way. At least… until a jet-black thundercloud would destroy the garden, the twisted thorns set up to protect Patton’s famILY. In its place was a constant storm, dark and dreary, but still, the gray, the common, the vigilante. But of course, to the eyes of a ruler, a vigilante is a villain, a foe to be destroyed before chaos. Chaos can bring many things, as can a storm. Both can bring new beginnings. And that they did. The storm would disperse, replaced by a purple twilight. It would remain there for some time alone, but in the cycle of a day, the dark always comes after twilight.

In the center of a rainbow there is orange, yellow, and green. Yellow is used to create them both. Yellow would dance through the twilight, followed by green. Orange would stay, guiding chaos, harboring it to be unleashed. But… the time never comes, yellow never returns, and green becomes a constant once again. The twilight leaves, fading, for there is no reason for the gray, the common, the vigilante. It moves on, but never forgets the storm it once was, that it once had to destroy the green, only to help it once again. As for Patton, he isn’t naïve, gullible, or limited. He is aware; Aware of the gray, the common, the vigilante.

Notes:

Thank you for reading! I will be adding to the series soon, one diving deeper into each character and color of the rainbow. I hope to keep you all posted frequently!
