It was a warm, cozy afternoon for the small family. Leo was sitting down on the couch, his mate was cuddled up next to him playing with one of their beloved little tots. The other tiny tot was sleeping soundly in his left arm.
It was the perfect little scene for the two parents, being together in such a comforting way was made even better by the company of the two tots.
Artemisia, their hyperactive little girl, was more than happy sitting in Donnie's arm and grabbing at his fingers with her tiny hands. She was kneading the tip of Donnie's pointer finger, curious at how different the scales felt depending on where her fingers poked at. Her fingers moved around Donnie's hand, just as curious at how much the texture changed as she moved her hand all around his palm.
"I don't think I've ever seen her so interested in something before," Leo whispered, not wanting to disturb either of the small twins.
Donnie didn't reply verbally, barely comprehending his partners words, just giving a contempt hum as he continued to be enamoured by Artemisia.
The curiosity soon got the better of her, trying to gnaw at the meatier parts of Donnie's hands. She let out disappointed chirps as Donnie took away his hand.
"I thought we taught you not to bite people," Donnie spoke softly to the tot, in a more questioning tone rather than in a reprimanding one.
"She might just like you too much to stop biting you," Leo joked, watching Artemisia crawl out of Donnie's left hand.
"Like you?" Donnie teased back.
Artemisia continued to crawl until she fell a small distance onto Leo's lap, she turned around and gave a wet lick to Donnie's elbow in retaliation for his hand being taken away from her.
Leo laughed at her little act of defiance as Donnie looked both bewildered and slightly grossed out at the spit on his arm.
"That sure showed you to not take away her toys, huh?" Leo teased his mate.
"I am not her toy," Donnie spoke without any bite as he wiped his elbow on Leo's thigh.
A tired little chirp went unnoticed by the two parents as they focused on the out quipping the other. Artemisia had turned back around to face her twin who had woken up due to all the noise.
Artemisia chirped back at her brother, grabbing his attention. Lorenzo chirped back, confused due to how tired he was. He barely heard the chirp in reply before a weight was on top of him.
Lorenzo threw his head backwards and gave an unsatisfied chirp before wriggling to get comfortable underneath his sister. Artemisia gave little mind to him as she prepared to fall asleep on top of him.
Lorenzo, accepting being turned into a pancake between his twins body and his dad's muscular arm, curled his arms around Artemisia's shell and quickly fell back into a peaceful sleep.
For all of her activities moments before, Artemisia followed suit in steadily falling asleep.
Leo and Donnie smiled down at the sleeping tots, admiring their cuteness. Donnie, being the only one with enough mobility to do so, bent down and pressed soft kisses into both of his babies tiny heads. He finished off with sitting back up and pressing one last kiss to Leo's lips.
Leo smiled and pressed his own kiss underneath Donnie's eye. "Te amo mucho, mi vida."
Donnie chuckled softly and cuddled up back beside his beloved mate. "I love you too."
