Chapter Text
I was never really one for summer breaks. All they were to me were just pointless halts to the endless studying I was used to. If I wanted to go to princeton, I’d have to study all day every day, preferably in a school with the guidance of a professor.
While i did somewhat like being back in New York, I felt kind of homesick. I never thought i’d get the chance to say it again but i missed my family. Sure, it was nice seeing my ‘friends’ but i missed the way Benny drove me up the wall, i missed Parker nagging me to play football, i missed Jordan putting a camera in my face every chance he got, i missed Lee and his attitude, i missed Nathan and his welcoming aura, i missed Isaac and his strange ability to make me laugh at any given moment, i missed Danny knowing just what to say and do to make me feel better, I missed Katherine and George being the parents i needed them to be. But Alex, i didn’t know how to feel about Alex. It felt like a breather being away from him if i’m being honest.
He was still my boyfriend but things just felt different. Ever since he told me he loved me, i just haven’t been the same around him. I didn’t even know if i still liked him anymore. My feelings were verified when I kissed Cole. I knew it would hurt Alex but being with Cole in that moment, it just felt so right.
But i couldn’t do it to Alex, or Cole.
I couldn’t be the reason that they had another fight or had even more issues between them. I’d only been there a few months and somehow managed to fuck up every ounce of brotherhood they had left.
But i couldn’t help my feelings for Cole. I knew they were there from the start but i pushed them aside because Alex was so sweet and welcoming. But the way our whole relationship felt like a way for him to get back at Cole for the whole Paige situation and like he was using me to make him jealous made me more uneasy than i can say.
With Cole, i feel so free. Like i’m as light as a feather and can conquer anything, because he makes me feel that way.
I don’t love Alex walter, I love Cole walter. And i missed him more than anyone.
I’m not sure when i came to this realisation, whether it was on the plane or some time during my stay in New York. All I know is that it hit me harder than a bus.
Before I know it, i’ve landed back in Colorado.
