Chapter Text
Things worked differently for Oscuro now that he wasn’t a part of regular jujutsu sorcerer society. He was a part of what he liked to call the “future” society. Suguru Geto was the leader of this new world and Oscuro’s best friend since he learned of his ability. The man was strong, not like a god, though some people would have you believe otherwise given his sheer strength and durability.
The man was one of very few people who understood and communicated well with Ocsuro. He was what you would call an “aggressive” introvert”. He wasn’t one for getting along with everyone just because of how he came off to other people. While most others had a flashy technique, Oscuro’s affected his body and the environment. He could turn himself into shadows and blend in while also enhancing his body so he could better exorcize, or destroy, a curse.
Geto saw great value in him, which is why when he was set to be executed but escaped, he asked if Oscuro wanted to join him and leave the demanding world of sorcerers behind. He quickly said yes, not just because he was asked by his long–time crush, but also because he had to watch as his friends died when they were given more than they were trained for. He never wanted another child to have to suffer like that again.
The sun beamed through the window of his large bedroom and into the massive pool of water in the center he called his bed. The layout was a request Geto was happy to give to him when he learned of his preferred sleeping habits as well as how his technique affected his body. “Oscuro’s one of the most loyal friends I have now,” he said when the temple was being furnished. “His comfort is my top priority.”
Just thinking about it had Oscuro in a good mood. He smiled and stretched until he was jolted out of his grogginess by a knock on the door. It was a gentle, back hand in a specific pattern. He splashed the dark water’s surface lightly. The usual signal to Suguru that he was alright to come in.
The larger man walked in with his usual warm smile. It was cold and filled with lies when directed at everyone else, but never that way when his black eyes were on Oscuro. It made him feel special.
He stepped up to the edge of the pool and held a wiggling fish in his hand. The dark man instinctively jumped out of the water and grabbed the fish with his sharp mouth, tearing it apart in the privacy below the surface.
“Good morning, my Dark Prince,” the strong man cooed. “Did you sleep well?”
The dark man swallowed the chewed up chunk of flesh in his mouth and popped his head above the surface. “As always, I’m fine, master.”
The man smiled bright in approval. “Good. I hate when you of all people are in discomfort. Especially considering where I first found you.”
He grumbled. Oscuro hated to be reminded he came from a very broken sorcerer family. His father was considered a disgrace to the community, his wife was considered a whore, his twin brothers were known around as the biggest pieces of trouble the world’s ever known and his sister was a mystery no one was able to find. Suguru understood him immediately, coming from disappointing normie parents. They held each other up when the world wanted to bring them down.
Back then, Oscuro always put Suguru first, whether in battle, or when they were short on resources. Even now that they were doing things on their own, in their way, well Suguru’s way, the leader of the clan he created is at his top priority. But every now and then, like on this special day, Suguru catered Oscruo’s likes and needs.
“Are you ready for our day off together,” the bigger man asked. Oscuro nodded vigorously.
The two were desperate for some alone time together given the responsibility they took up when creating the clan and becoming the leader and the right hand. In the beginning, they were able to get away from everyone with whatever time they had to spare. However, that was back when they had few members. Now they had enough to fill their own civilization, which they did in a secluded area by the sea.
Oscuro was quick to get dressed in normie clothes and followed Suguru out of the main gates to their clan village. They took a train out to the market street where seemingly a thousand shops were waiting to be walked through. Looking around at the place he spent so much time in, Oscuro felt nostalgic. He and Suguru spent so much time in these bakeries trading thoughts back and forth and enjoying the lofi scenery outside.
“Remember when Gojo tried to jump a fence to impress a girl,” Oscuro chuckled. He knew how much Geto hated being reminded of Gojo, especially after they he left him, but he liked to think of the good memories they made together.
“It was hilarious. He jumped off the bridge and plummeted into the water below,” he chuckled back.
“The weird thing was he landed on his feet.”
“How do you know that?”
“The girl was so shocked, she begged me to jump in after him, even though I knew full well he could swim out of anything.” Suguru shook his head at Gojo’s inability to be normal. Not that Oscuro knew what normal was either.
Oscuro’s nearly pitch black hand slid into Geto’s as they descended into the dense crowd of people on the streets. His head fell on his shoulder and content filled the emptiness that had been weighing down his heart for so long.
“Are you alright?” he asked with concern.
He sighed. “Yeah, just happy. We never get to be like this anymore.”
There was a moment of silence on Suguru’s end. “I know what you mean. We should rectify that in the future. This silence, this calm I feel. I don’t get that feeling with anyone else.”
He wanted them to stay this way for the rest of the week. But they had work to do.
That night, all his dreams were filled with Suguru, the man responsible for giving him the chance at life he deserved. It wasn’t in the friend or mentor way that he dreamt about him. His body burned with passion as the beefy man fucked his ass. It felt amazing. Each thrust was harsher than the last. His speed increased to inhuman levels.
He cooed sweet encouragement and nothings in his ear to rile him up. He was on the verge of bursting when the beefy man stilled in him. He clawed at his back and begged him to keep going.
“I have to tell you something,” he said in a husky voice. All Oscu could do in this state was nod. “There might come a time where our relationship is tested and I want you to know I love you regardless.”
“Promise?”
“With all my heart.”
He believed in his consciousness. But he didn’t fully believe in the real Suguru.
He woke up, this time without Suguru coming in and feeding him. Oscuro didn’t take offense to it. Him coming in wasn’t a daily guarantee given his unpredictable schedule. Oscuro quickly slipped out of his bed and into the dark blue pants and top typically worn among Geto’s sorcerers and not the followers.
Servants eyed him as he walked past. And it wasn't with their friendly, respectable glares. They looked pitiful and frightened. Like there was something they were sure would change Oscuro’s attitude when he saw it. But he ignored their glares and kept walking to Suguru’s office.
He knocked on the sliding doors and waited for his response. He could hear him muttering to someone on the other side. It had to be Suguru because only he and Oscu had keys to his office. He knocked again and this time received clearance.
But when he opened the doors, he wished he hadn’t opened them to begin with. The sight on the other side made his stomach not in twelve different ways. His heart was about to pop and his brain couldn’t get the image out of his head long after he walked away.
Sitting there in his lap, arms wrapped around his neck while both his hands supported her hips, was Sunkia, the first and only consistent bully Oscuor’s had throughout his life. She was the first to know about his family situation when they were in fifth grade, and from that day forward was an asshole to him and only him. It became her mission in life to make him as miserable as possible because she felt someone with his family history didn’t deserve it. This had to be the worst thing she’s ever done to him.
“What’s going on, Master Geto,” he asked, trying to keep things as professional as possible. Sunkia smiled viciously white the larger man wasn’t looking. “Why is Sunkia-kun here? I didn’t even know she was part of our clan.”
It was the honest truth. In the ten years he spent with Suguru watching the clan grow, he had never seen anyone who looked remotely like Sunkia slip through the clan gates. The only way he wouldn’t have known was if Suguru intentionally kept her under wraps from everyone, even his trusted right hand.
A light pink dusted Suguru’s cheeks, which made the twisting in Oscuro’s gut worse. “She’s my fiance,” he said softly.
The entire world shattered. The dark man felt his body get ready to give out and transform into a pile of dust. He could almost feel his heart decaying in his chest. Or what he chalked up as decaying.
Fiance. Suguru’s fiance. Before, those words were like being told you could have whatever you wanted on the shelves of a candy shop if you completed this task. Since they first met, Oscu’s been trying to complete the task of building up enough courage to tell him. That’s actually why he came into his office this early. He wanted to tell him before the tasks of keeping the clan in order came in to ruin his day. He would’ve done this the day before during their personal day out together, but he was swept up in the atmospheric calm and didn’t want to break it with such relationship shattering words.
But Sugu’s done that on his own.
“Why didn’t . . . tell me before,” he gulped down the weird taste building in his mouth.
“I wasn’t sure how you would take it,” he chuckled. “I know me dating anyone alarms you.”
“Well, it’s just that—” She stared so hard into his soul, Oscuro was worried Sunkia could burn it with a curse technique. Even when he’s fought curses above his grade in the past, fought alongside Suguru in the early stages of him creating his clan, Sunkia still had a chokehold over Oscuro. And he hated how powerless she was able to make him feel.
“I’m happy for you, but you should be able to trust me a little more,” he finished. “We’ve been together for a decade and a half. I would think you’d hold me in higher regards.”
Surugu nodded. “I’m sorry I made you think that, Oscu. You know I trust you more than anyone else.” His fiance—the words felt dirty on his tongue when referring to her—gave him a dangerous glare. “Other than you, Sunny.”
She smiled deviously, eyeing the darker man with triumphant in her eyes, and snatched his mouth with her red lips. The two forgot he was standing there for a second before he coughed to get their attention.
When he did, something came up. He spit it onto his hand and looked down in confusion. A black rose petal? How was that even possible? He didn’t swallow something that buds, did he? Even then, the acids in his stomach would’ve broken it down to the point it couldn’t bloom.
He stuffed the petal in his pocket and decided to go to Merkia, the only member of his trainwreck of a family who cared about him, about it later. She was his aunt and became the medic when she found out the truth about the sorcerer schools.
Suguru handed him a short list of assignments then pushed him out the door. Sunkia’s eyes followed him out with a sneer on her lips the entire way. Oscuro didn’t look at anyone, keeping to himself and avoiding their pitiful glares. They all knew about her and gave him looks as warnings. It was no secret to anyone but Suguru and maybe three of his captains the feelings Oscuro had for him. He didn’t do well with hiding it and he spent most of his time around the man. He wouldn’t now.
Crack crack crack
Shudder shudder shudder
His heart was going through the many stages of grief. Feeling slowly trickled out of the connecting veins and dripped into his stomach. He felt it shuddering as the liquid feelings entered it.
A violent fit of coughs caught in his throat, leaving him leaning on a window sill and catching the petals falling from his mouth. What was this sickness and why was it rearing it ugly, if not tragically beautiful, head up now?
Oscuro needed to find his aunt.
