Well. I don't know how this one will go...
It's just a bunch of ideas of them as a family. I'll try to follow the canon, but I'm not caught up on the manga yet, so some things might be a little off. Sorry about that.

Chapter 1: But I can see us, lost in the memories

Chapter Text

Megumi didn't care for Gojo, whatever Tsumiki would say.

Gojo was an idiot bad looking weird man that kept bothering the two of them. That was all he was.

Megumi still remembered the first day he appeared. He looked like an idiot, with his stupid face and his sorcerer whatever story. Even a six-year-old boy recognized a shady man when he saw one.

If only it had stopped there.

A week later, as Megumi was leaving his school, he spotted a tall, menacing figure in the distance - correction: stupid. He looked out of place, Gojo, among responsible adults in suits. He, he was wearing his shirt half-open, slurping some random drink with one hand and waving at megumi with the other.

So, of course, Megumi did the responsible thing: he ignored the white-haired idiot and hurried home.

But two days later, Gojo did it again. So Megumi ignored him again. That day he decided to tell Tsumiki about Gojo, who to be honest didn't seem much more worried than that. Megumi thought that for an older sister, she wasn't so much more mature than him.

"Maybe he's lonely," she suggested.

"That's no reason to stalk me," Megumi replied placidly.

She shrugged.

"When you ignore him, he leaves you alone, right? He can't be that bad, then."

The next day, without fail, Gojo had come to wait for him again. Megumi had been thinking about what Tsumiki had told her. It wasn't out of any act of kindness that he came forward. No... he was just curious. That's all.

Gojo looked genuinely surprised when he saw Megumi join him. He quickly recomposed himself, however.

"Finally," he smiled, "I was tired of all those parents looking at me weirdly.”

"They look at you like that because you look like a pedophile."

The look on Gojo's face would be worth millions, Megumi thought. His mouth was twisted in a grimace that was half-offended, half-disgusted.

"Why do you keep coming anyway?" Megumi asked as he started walking.

It took Gojo a moment to start walking with him. He must be too used to being ignored. Good. Because Megumi was just being nice today, and he wouldn't be tomorrow.

"Well," Gojo started, "it's my duty to look after you... I guess" he added the last part with a sigh.

"Why?"

"You see, your father-"

"I don't care about him," Megumi cut him off.

Gojo wasn't looking at him, which Megumi could understand given how tall he was: it would be a pain to keep bending down.

"Then I can't explain."

"You could. It's not just because you're given a duty that you always do it. So why do you?" Megumi pointed out.

Gojo didn't say anything. Maybe he just couldn't answer.

Megumi wasn't sure how to feel about it. It definitely creeped him out, though.

The next day, Gojo showed up in front of his school again. Megumi thought he'd stop being nice to Gojo but... his expression as Megumi began to ignore him inspired pity. Just a little…

He went home with him again that day. And the next day. And the days after that. Before he knew it, Megumi was still waiting for Gojo. Even when the white-haired man was a little late, he'd wait for him to pick him up.

The first time he'd waited for him, Gojo had almost cried; he still denied it, but Megumi had seen him discreetly wipe his eyes.

One day as they walked home, the sun setting behind him, Megumi said:

"You never answered my question."

"Which one?"

"Why do you keep taking care of me?"

Gojo's calm face wavered a little.

"I did tell you...? It's my duty."

"Yeah no, that I know. With my father blabla... but why do you actually do it?"

Like last time, Gojo couldn't think of anything to say. But Megumi knew him now. It was rare for him to find nothing to say. Even if it was completely idiotic, he always replied.

"You know, the second time you came looking for me, I told Tsumiki I thought you were weird."

"Nice," Gojo commented, "as always."

"You are a creep," Megumi pointed out.

Gojo pouted for a little bit, "Why do you hate me so much?"

but Megumi ignored him.

"She said that maybe you were lonely. Are you ?"

Gojo didn't say anything. Megumi was trying to make him look down, but he didn't. After a beat, Megumi pulled on his sleeve to force him to do so. When their eyes finally met, Megumi repeated:

"Are you lonely?"

Gojo's eyes were slightly more open than usual, and his expression was far from anything Megumi had seen before on his face. After a beat, he smiled brightly, or so he tried: it looked more awkward than anything.

"Of course I'm not lonely. I have a lot of friends at my school."

Megumi felt like he was lying. But Gojo seemed so uncomfortable, Megumi wasn't sure he wanted to push.

"You're still in school?"

Gojo's smile felt more genuine.

"Yeah. Why? did you think I was older?"

"Yes. I thought you were thirty or something."

With a crumpled smile, Gojo ruffled Megumi's hair.

"You little shit."

But at least, Gojo's smile felt really genuine this time. That was enough for Megumi.

Wait... when did he even start caring?

He didn't, he decided. He just wanted to know more about the creep that was with him. for safety. Yeah, that was it. Safety.

"Well, we're here," Gojo announced.

Right before entering his house, Megumi went :

"Hey, if you really want to be helpful..."

"I'm always helpful."

Megumi ignored his remark.

"Sometimes, you could also pick up my sister. Tsumiki."

"You don't go to the same school?"

Megumi shook his head.

"We go to the same school. But she finishes later. She stays to help clean up, so she is always running late."

Memumi thought that was stupid to do all that but... well this was Tsumiki he was talking about. She always had a big heart.

"Good kid. Sure, if that helps you, I can do that. I would do anything for you 'Gumi," he added with a wink.

Megumi's face went from pale to bright red. He was torn between shouting at Gojo, or slamming the door in his face.

"I don't want your help." he decided to answer finally. "I just prefer knowing she is with an adult when she comes back from school. As weird as you are."

"I'm still a teenager," Goojo added as a matter of fact. "Honestly, you really are hurting my feelings, Gumi. But because it's you, I'll let that slide."

"And stop calling me that!"

"But don't you love me, Gumi?"

"I've only known you for a few months," Megumi pointed out.

"Ah... fair. Well, then I guess I'm gonna go check when Tsumiki is finished, and I'll bring her home!"

Gojo waved Megumi goodbye, and walked away as Megumi ignored him.

What a weird man, Megumi thought.

Maybe he really is just lonely like us, his mind supplied against his will.
