Chapter Text

The typical day for Kalego was always a stressful one, ranging from the misfits acting up to the other teachers getting on his nerves. He even considered it a decent enough day if the Chairdemon Sullivan didn't put him up to something stupid. Unfortunately; this day was anything but typical for Kalego. He woke up feeling quite feverish and his throat sore, yet he still dragged his stubborn ass to school.

Sitting in the faculty room prepping his lesson plans, he began to cough.

“You okay there Kalego-kun,” a sweet and kind voice could be heard coming from beside him.

Looking up, Kalego could see Momonoki looking at him with a concerned look on her face. “I-I’m fine,” Kalego said, his voice more gruff than normal.

Momonoki could feel her face heating up at the sight of a sick Kalego. The flush upon his face and the gruffness of his voice sent her heart racing and thoughts racing through her head. ‘Not now Momonoki!’ She yelled at herself in her head. “You aren’t looking very well. You should go to the nurse's office.”

“I said I was fi-,” Kalego had tried to say before he began to cough again. The coughing had begun to make his chest hurt and he debated on taking Momonoki’s advice. The thought of going home to his bed away from all the stress of Babyls seemed very appealing to him.

Momonoki felt herself grow even more concerned. She tried rubbing Kalego’s back hoping to ease the coughing a bit. “Here, I’ll take you to the nurse's office,” she said while helping Kalego stand up.

Kalego tried to push her away, not wanting to seem weak. He was the Guard dog of Babyls of Delkira’s sake, he couldn't let himself be seen so weak. Although; the second he pushed away from Momonoki’s hold he found himself overcome with dizziness. As he was about to fall, soft hands had caught him.

“Let’s get you to the nurse's office Kalego-kun,” Momonoki said, leaving no room for Kalego to argue. She wrapped an arm around Kalego’s back and kept him steady as she guided him to the nurse's office. While on the way to the nurse's office students and other faculty members looked at them weirdly, some even trying to take pictures, but a glare from the ever-so-kind Momonoki made them stop instantly. Once they reached the nurse's office Momonoki led Kalego inside and laid him on one of the beds.

The whole time on the way to the nurse's office Kalego had felt embarrassed from all the looks from others, but seeing Momonoki put a stop to it all made his heart race in a way he was unfamiliar with. Being laid on one of the beds, Kalego watched Momonoki walk away to fetch the nurse.

A few minutes later the nurse walked in with Momonoki following closely behind with an anxious look on her face. The nurse took his temperature and checked him over then proceeded to tell him he was indeed sick, which he already knew, but then told him he should go home for the day. The nurse then walked away, leaving Momonoki and Kalego in the office by themselves.

Kalego tried to sit up, but a way of dizziness overcame him. He felt Momonoki’s hands press him back down to the bed. “I need to go,” he said weakly.

“I don’t think you could make it back to the dorms in this condition by yourself,” Momonoki said, stating the obvious. Suddenly; an idea came to her, ‘What if I took him home? That means I get to see what his room looks like and perhaps maybe he’ll even let me nurse him back to health!’ She thought to herself. She felt her face start to heat up at the thought of being able to take care of Kalego. “How about I take you home,” she asked, trying her best to keep her tone steady and innocent sounding.

“Huh,” was all Kalego said as he looked up at Momonoki, perplexed by her sudden suggestion.

Momonoki’s face heated up, feeling more embarrassed by her question and Kalego’s answer. “I-I was thinking that s-since you aren't able to get back to your room by yourself, that I would help you get there,” Momonoki said trying to convey her logic.

Kalego thought about it for a minute. “Yeah, as much as I don't like it, I have to agree.”

Momonoki felt her heart skip a beat at the fact that Kalego had agreed to let her take him home. She carefully helped Kalego off the bed and guided him back to his home. How she knew exactly which dorm room he lived in without him telling her would remain a mystery.

Once they both reached Kalego’s dorm room, Momonoki swiftly removed the key from Kalego’s pocket and unlocked the door. She then slowly guided Kalego over to his bed and gently helped him lay down.

‘I can’t believe I’m really in his room!” Momonoki screamed to herself in her head. She looked around the room and committed it to memory since she didn’t know when she’ll get another chance to see it. She then looked back over at Kalego. She could see the sweat running down his flushed face and hear his heavy breathing. Seeing Kalego looking like that brought some rather unseemly thoughts to her mind.

“Y-You can go,” Kalego tiredly said.

Momonoki was shocked out of her thoughts and looked at Kalego. She really didn’t want to leave yet, not just because she got to see a sick Kalego, but also because she didn’t want to leave him in that condition. “I-It’s fine. I can stay.”

“I don’t want to keep you from your work,” Kalego said trying to be nice about the fact that he really didn’t want her here.

Momonoki shook her head and with an unusual conviction said, “No, I want to stay. I’m not gonna leave you in this condition.

Kalego's eyes widened at Momonoki’s sincerity and could no longer bring himself to argue with her. He let out a sigh and just accepted his fate. “Fine, you can stay,” he said exhaustedly. Momonoki then gave a warm smile. Kalego’s heart skipped a beat and he felt his face flush more and it wasn’t due to the fever, but he would never admit it.

Momonoki quickly pulled out her phone and messaged the teacher's group chat, letting them all know that she and Kalego would be out for the rest of the day. Once the message had been sent she then put her phone away. She then looked back over at Kalegi and noticed just how flushed he was. Without thinking she said, “H-Here let me help you get undressed.” She then proceeded to remove his cape and the teacher's robe, leaving him in just his shirt and pants. She had also removed his shoes as well. Once she was done, she looked back up at Kalego and seeing that flushed look upon his face and the sweat dripping down his face and his chiseled chest. Her mind raced with rather vulgar thoughts.

Quickly swallowing, Momonoki said, “W-Would you want something to eat?”

‘I would rather sleep, but since she's offering, I guess I should take her up on it.’ Kalego tiredly thought to himself. Kalego can be a prick and he knows that, but even he wouldn't be rude to someone who’s going out of their way to take care of him and even make him food. He always thought that Momonoki would make a good wife and seeing this only strengthens his opinion. “Yes, I would like that,” Kalego weakly says.

Momonoki instantly smiled and happily said, “Of course! Coming right up!” She then proceeded to leave and walk over to his kitchen which was also in his dorm room.

Kalego laid in his bed and silently watched as Momonoki worked on cooking him something. As time passed, he felt himself start to get sleepy, and before long he had fallen asleep.

Not long after Kalego could hear a soft feminine voice whispering, “It’s time to wake up.” Tiredly moaning, he opens his eyes and sees Momonoki standing by his bedside holding what looks to be a bowl of porridge and a glass of water. There also seemed to be a box of meds on the tray as well. He tiredly sat up and his head was pounding. Momonoki then sat the bowl of porridge on his lap and the water and medicine on his nightstand. Kalego tried to take a bite of the porridge, but felt too weak to do so.

“Would you like me to help you?” Momonoki sweetly asked with a kind smile on her face.

Kalego felt embarrassed at the thought of not only his coworker, but a woman feeding him. The very thought was utterly humiliating to him. ‘I’m not a child,’ he bitterly thought to himself and tried to take a bite of the porridge again only for him to drop the spoon back into the bowl.

Momonoki then sat on the edge of Kalego’s bed and kindly removed the bowl from Kalego’s lap. She then scooped some of the porridge and brought the spoon to Kalego’s mouth. She could see the frustration on Kalego’s face. Letting out a sigh she calmly said, “Kalego, It’s fine. Let me help you.”

‘I can’t believe this,’ Kalego bitterly thought. Seeing that spoon before him felt mortifying. Kalego was lost in thought and before he knew it the spoon was suddenly shoved into his mouth. “Ack!” He looked over at Momonoki who was looking at him like how a mom would look at her son whose actions she disapproved of. He felt himself flinch at the look she gave him, it reminded him of his own mother. His mom used to be the one to take care of him when he was sick as a young child and when he got grumpy over things, she would immediately put a stop to it. So seeing Momonoki remind him so much of his mother sent shivers down his spine. Kalego quickly complied with Momonoki’s demands and ate the food without complaint.

Momonoki’s face might have resembled a stern mother, but inside she was jumping for joy. The fact she was sitting in Kalego’s room spoon-feeding him was almost like a dream to her. She would pinch herself if she could.

Soon enough the porridge was gone, much to Momonoki’s disappointment. Spoon-feeding Kalego was a dream come true for her. Momonoki then sat the empty bowl on the nightstand. She then picked up the glass of water and medicine. “Here, take these,” She said, handing Kalego the water and medicine.

Kalego grimaced at the sight of the meds, but he knew better than to try to argue with Momonoki about it. He quickly threw the pills into his mouth and took a swig of the water. He cringed as he swallowed the medicine. ‘Not even the water can block out the horrible taste,’ he sourly thought to himself.

Momonoki found herself smiling at Kalego’s cute reactions. ‘Being upset over taking medicine, how cute! He’s like a little kid!’ Momonoki was gushing in her head about how adorable he was being. She truly felt grateful for being able to see the different sides of the one she hopes to one day marry.

Kalego finished the glass of water and sat it on the nightstand. He then looked over at Momonoki and felt himself grow embarrassed. He realized that she now knew about his dislike towards medicine, but felt grateful that she wasn't going to tease him over it. Now that he thought about it he never really gave much thought to Momonoki. Sure, she was a good worker and he was the one that trained her. He even acknowledged that she was a rather beautiful woman. It’s just after seeing her taking care of him in his time of need, he started to feel something more for her than just being coworkers. ‘What am I thinking?” Kalego flusteredly said to himself, feeling his face start to heat up.

Momonoki saw his face turn even more red than he was before and grew concerned. “Kalego are you okay?” She softly asked, placing her hand up against Kalego’s forehead.

Kalego only felt himself grow more flustered at Momonoki’s actions. He quickly pulled his head away, “I-I’m fine. Just tired is all.” He said feeling quite bashful.

Momonoki then let out a small giggle and put her hand back down. With a small smile, she said, “Alright, how about you get some rest?”

“Y-Yeah, will do,” Kalego quickly said then laid back down on the bed. As he laid down, his mind was filled with all sorts of thoughts. He was slowly coming to realize that Momonoki was maybe, just maybe, becoming more than just a coworker to him. He then noticed the medicine was taking effect as drowsiness was overcoming him. Before long he felt himself drifting off to sleep, ‘Just maybe…’ he last thought as he fell asleep.
