Work Text:

You let out a pained groan as your back came into contact with a brick wall, another one following when you fell to the ground on your side. Your face scrunched in pain as your hand instinctively gravitated towards your seven month baby bump.

“Utahime! Behind you!” You screamed, watching as the curse that had thrown you across the site followed closely behind your friend. Utahime, who was running towards you, turned around and quickly dodged the curse’s hands that tried to grab her. You slowly sat up, wincing with each movement you made. Your eyes stayed trained on the curse as you stood up, using the wall behind you for support.

“___, get to Ijichi! I’ll handle this!” Utahime yelled after seeing your pained expression and struggle to get up. You only shook your head, already preparing to jump in the second there was an opening.

Suddenly, you and Utahime watched in horror as the curse split in two and ran in opposite directions, one of them heading straight to you. Ignoring the ache in your back, you quickly pull out a straight pin from your pocket and pitch it straight at the curse’s chest. The needle pierces the curse right where you wanted it to, and the curse bursts into flames. Or so you thought.

Having let your guard down, you didn’t notice that the curse had once again split in two.

”___!” Utahime’s screams were the last thing you could recall hearing. The two curses hurled at you, one of them landing a punch directly to your head while the other aimed for your belly. Everything after that was a blur and eventually just darkness.

It’s cold. So cold. You could feel a blanket on top of your body, but even that couldn’t protect you from the metal table’s relentless icy touch. The next thing you became conscious of were voices. Two, no three— four?

”Will ___-sensei be alright?”

”She’s already told us a million times that she’ll be alright, Itadori!”

”I know, but she’s not—“

”Can you two shut up? You’re both disturbing Ieiri-san.”

”It’s alright. I’ll go call Satoru, you three keep an eye on her for me.”

Quiet steps, the sound of a door opening and closing, then complete silence. Your hand twitches. Your eyelids are heavy. It’s still cold.

”You’re worried too, right, Fushiguro?” You could now recognize that voice: Yuuji. One of your students— he’s practically your son, though.

”Of course I am.” Megumi. You made a mental note to tease him about this later.

”Huh? Fushiguro caring about someone? That’s new.” Nobara. You and her were an untamable duo.

”Shut up.”

Your eyes finally flutter open. The dim lights of Jujutsu Tech’s infirmary were still too bright for your liking, your distaste showing in the way you scrunched up your face.

”___-sensei! You’re awake!” Yuuji exclaims. You could tell he was trying to be quiet, but of course, he couldn’t contain his relief.

”Sensei, you really had us worried!” Nobara’s face came into your view, her lips pulled into a pout. You let out a weak chuckle, your eyes fluttering closed again. You suddenly jerk awake, your body hurling forward into a sitting position and acting before you could even register the dull aches all throughout. Yuuji and Nobara jump back at your unexpected reaction, which you would’ve laughed at had it been in different circumstances.

Your heart was beating erratically in your chest as you push the blanket off your torso, a breath of relief escaping your lips when you saw your pregnant belly still intact, seemingly unharmed. Your body visibly relaxes as you rest your hands atop your bump.

”Did Shoko tell you guys what happened?” You ask after giving yourself a couple seconds to calm down, lifting your head to look at your three students with a warm smile on your face. As long as your baby was safe, that was all that mattered to you.

”She said you were knocked unconscious mid-battle. Nanami-san was called in to exorcise the curse while Ijichi-san brought you back.” Megumi explains, his expression seeming indifferent. It was painfully obvious he was trying to hide his true feelings, but having known him since he was a kid, you saw right through him. Alas, you didn’t bring it up— well, more like you couldn’t.

A mop of white hair abruptly invades your vision as warm arms wrap around your body. The familiar embrace of your husband had you melting. Your arms instinctively wrap around Satoru’s torso, your head immediately nuzzling into his neck. His expensive cologne infiltrates your nose, bringing a sense of comfort nothing else in the entire world could provide.

”Satoru.” You whisper. He tightens his hold around your body.

You hear your students shuffle out the room without another word. Satoru continues to just hold you, saying absolutely nothing. He didn’t have to. You already knew the thoughts that plagued his mind.

”I’m sorry.” You whisper into his skin, your hands clutching at the fabric of his uniform.

”I told you no more missions, did I not?” Satoru mutters, but his tone made it clear he wasn’t upset at you. Just worried and relieved.

Since the start of your second trimester, Satoru was adamant on taking over your missions. He feared something like this would happen, but being as stubborn as you are, you still went on as many missions as you could. Satoru would rightfully get upset each time, but how could he ever stay mad at you? Especially when you look at him sheepishly and give him a chaste kiss as an apology. He’s a weak man for you.

”You did.” You sigh. Satoru pulls back just enough to be able to see eye to eye with you. An uncharacteristic frown was etched on his lips. His eyes were hidden behind that black blindfold of his, but you knew his beautiful blue orbs were swirling with a turmoil of emotions. You lean forward, pressing a tender kiss to his lips. When you pull back, Satoru has a soft smile playing on his lips in place of his previous frown. He shakes his head as he stood up straight, one of his hands tracing your curves before stopping at your belly, his other hand pressed firmly against the small of your back.

”No more missions. I mean it this time.” He says softly, leaning in to kiss your forehead. A smile creeps onto your face as you nod your head.

”No more missions.” You repeat just as softly. And you mean it this time.

“Sensei~ I’m hungry.” Yuuji whines, his body hunched over in exhaustion from the long and near torturous training you had just put him and the other two through. You let out a laugh, reaching a hand over to affectionately ruffle his hair.

”You guys did good today. Dinner’s on me.” You smile at your three students. As expected, Yuuji and Nobara suddenly become more energetic and lively, cheering happily before falling into a light-hearted dispute on where they should eat. Megumi, as quiet as ever, trails behind you.

”I want sushi!” Yuuji exclaims with a wide smile.

”Sensei can’t eat sushi, idiot.” Nobara shuts him down, landing a hit to his shoulder. Yuuji lets out a cry, caressing his shoulder as his face scrunches up in pain. He turns to look at you with a pout, but his eyes were full of curiosity.

”Is that true, ___-sensei?” He asks innocently. You nod your head, giving Yuuji an apologetic smile.

”I say we get steak.” Nobara cuts in, beaming up at you expectantly.

”We had that last week!” Yuuji whines just as you were about to agree with Nobara’s choice, crossing his arms over his chest.

”And? It’s good!” Nobara argues, sending a glare in Yuuji’s direction.

”Okay, okay. Calm down, children.” You laugh, speeding up a little to walk between the bickering pair and putting an end to their banter. “How about that place that sells ginger chicken? How’s that sound, Megumi?” You suggest, a knowing smile playing on your lips.

Nobara and Yuuji agreed instantly, their previous argument forgotten as they happily sprint towards the school with a newfound excitement in their steps. You peer over your shoulder, catching a glimpse of a smile on Megumi’s face. Ginger chicken it is.

“Stop laughing~!” You whine, displaying how upset you were with furrowed brows and a pout. Satoru clutches his stomach with both arms, his laughter only growing in volume.

You were one of the first sorcerers at Jujutsu Tech to get pregnant while still working there, and when your usual uniform started to become a little too snug, you requested for a temporary one. Being that it would be a uniform used for a short period of time, you didn’t think to ask for a specific design. Worst mistake of your life.

You now had to deal with the consequences of your thoughtlessness. The uniform that was designed for you was literally just a robe. A robe that was reminiscent of a child’s bathrobe with the way it fit you. Despite having provided your exact measurements, the robe was still somehow tight. You couldn’t even button it at the top, and the fabric around your waist was stretched uncomfortably, and the dress awkwardly stopped right under your knees. You never really cared about how you looked in your uniform, but that didn’t mean you were okay with looking like a failed attempt at cosplaying No Face from Spirited Away.

Frustrated tears prickle the corner of your eyes as you glare at Satoru through the mirror. As observant as ever, he almost immediately notices your glossy gaze. His laughter dies down into chuckles as he approaches you from behind, wrapping his arms around your waist. His large hands cover the expanse of your pregnant belly, his chin hooking onto your shoulder. He has a playful smile on his lips as he presses a few kisses to your neck and cheek.

”I think you look adorable, honey.” He coos, looking at you through the mirror. You let out a huff, crossing your arms over your chest as you turn your head away from him, looking in the other direction.

”Baby~ don’t be like that.” Satoru brings a hand up to gently grab your chin, turning your head back to look at him through the mirror. You pout as a single tear falls from your eye, trailing down your cheek. Satoru leans in like he’s about to kiss your cheek before suddenly sticking his tongue out, licking a fat stripe from the bottom of your cheek to right under your eye. You squeal in surprise, letting out a laugh as you hurriedly push his face away.

”You’re gross, Satoru!” You exclaim through your giggles. Satoru laughs alongside you, leaning in to press an apologetic kiss to your cheek. You happily welcome his kiss, your previous agitation now replaced with a content smile.
