Hot Take Go: Cereal First or Milk First?

Summary:

Danny steals Beast Boy's spoon and Robin glares real hard.

What a wonderful start to a brand new friendship!

Work Text:

Beast Boy glared at his floating spoon.

He was trying to eat cereal but something stole his spoon. He thought it was Raven at first or Starfire or maybe even Robin. But then he remembered that none of them can turn invisible. Well, maybe Raven could but well—he’s never seen her turn invisible so—so it probably wasn’t her.

Beast Boy made a wild grab for his spoon but it flew out of reach again and he swore he heard someone smiling.

Beast Boy stood up on his chair getting ready to pounce.

Robin happened to walk in at that exact moment. “Hey Beast Boy have you seen my—”

Beast Boy jumped. He ended up missing and his breakfast went flying along with his dignity.

Beast Boy popped up, bowl of cocoa puffs and milk dripping down his face and dribbling off his chin.

“Beast Boy what—?” Robin froze, noticing the spoon. His gaze narrowed and he took a cautious step forward.

And as if self aware, the spoon stopped floating and dropped to the ground. Clattering pretty loudly against the tile floor.

Robin glared at the spot where the spoon fell and then slowly looked up, to the spot where the spoon was floating.

Beast Boy did the same, doing his best to stand like Robin was(he slipped once but that doesn’t really matter does it?) and to glare like Robin and just look as intimidating as Robin did. He thinks he did pretty well despite the fact that there was perfectly grown up cereal in his hair and milk dripping down his chin. He narrowed his eyes just like Robin too, the narrowing wouldn’t hurt.

“Who are you?” Robin spoke in the ‘I am Robin and you are a villain and I will definitely kick your butt in two seconds if you don’t surrender before my next blink happens’ voice.

Something moved in the air and Beast Boy just noticed how weird it smelled.

Who are you?”

Oh…oh boy—things must be serious if Robin was bringing out his imitation Batman voice. Beast Boy got the shivers just by listening to it.

The thing in the air shimmered a little differently and suddenly: there was a person. A white haired, glowing person in what looked like a supersuit.

Said person smiled sheepishly and waved. “Umm…hi?”

Robin’s gaze somehow narrowed further. He didn’t need to talk, his sharp look said it all.

The sheepish expression only got more sheepish and he shrugged limply. “It’s Spring Break?”

That. Was not a reason to steal someone’s spoon.

And by the even more narrowing of Robin’s domino mask Robin didn’t think so either.

No siree, this was a serious crime and glowey person wouldn’t be getting out of this anytime soon.

“Sit,” Robin didn’t look away from glowey person. Glowey person slowly tapped down, making a…complicated face. He still smells weird. “I have a few questions for you,”

Glowey person laughed nervously but sat anyway. Looking resigned to his fate.

Beast Boy glared and picked up his spoon, some milk dripped into his eye and he scrubbed it out. Maybe he would Reseses Puffs instead.

And maybe he would pour the milk first just to watch glowey guy squirm .
