Work Header

maybe it's fate

Summary:

There was a tinkling sound. The bell above the front door signaled the entrance of a customer.

Taehyun paused. Kai looked over curiously, too, and Yeonjun turned around. There was a man standing awkwardly in the doorway, in a poorly-pressed suit and scuffed shoes. Yeonjun’s mouth fell open.

“Um… Hello? I saw the sign outside. Nude psychic readings and… tax advice? I was hoping for… um, the tax help.”

“They’re a package deal,” Yeonjun blurted. “I do the psychic reading and then give advice on the– uh, tax stuff.” Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Taehyun mouthing no at him repeatedly and emphatically.

"O-oh. Okay."

Work Text:

“You’re late again.”

Yeonjun took a leisurely sip from his iced Americano. “It’s literally my business, I’m the boss here. I get to decide what’s late and what’s not, Kang Taehyun.”

“The sign says open at 10 AM,” Taehyun shot back. “You could’ve missed a customer.”

“But did I?”

“… No.”

“Exactly.”

“Oh, are you the psychic guy?” The sound of another voice nearly made Yeonjun spill his coffee, and he coughed most of it out through his nose. A man had wandered in from Taehyun’s office. He was tall, taller than Yeonjun, with wavy dark hair and high cheekbones.

Yeonjun pointed, looking at Taehyun. “Who the hell is this?”

“I got an assistant,” Taehyun said dryly. “Some of us are actually busy in this office. Taxes don’t do themselves, you know.”

“Wish you’d do yourself, since clearly no one else will,” Yeonjun muttered under his breath.

Taehyun either didn’t hear or pretended that he didn’t, because he pushed the tall man forward with a hand on his back. “This is Kai. He’s here to help me with the easy stuff. The everyday W-2s, independent contractor filings, that sort of thing.”

“Do people really have to be naked in order for you to read their future?” Kai asked without preamble.

Yeonjun took another sip of coffee. “Depends on the person. For example, I can tell that Taehyun here is going to die of hypertension before he’s thirty unless he gets laid soon.”

“He’s lying,” Taehyun spat, although there was red creeping up above his perfectly-ironed tie. “He’s not even psychic.”

“But–“ Kai cut himself off, looking confused as he scanned Yeonjun up and down. “So you just sit there with naked people and make up stuff about them?”

“Sort of.” Yeonjun shrugged, the ice in his coffee sloshing around. “It’s pretty easy to tell when they’re naked, though. It puts all their problems and insecurities… on display.”

“Ah.” Kai was clearly trying to be polite about it, but the look on his face was deeply skeptical.

Taehyun snorted. “Doesn’t matter. Only people he ever gets in here are hippies or total creeps who are hoping that he’ll be the one naked during the reading. They’ll believe anything he says.”

“It’s surprisingly good money,” Yeonjun said defensively. “Just because I don’t spend my life giving myself chronic back pain and eye problems from staring at tax forms all day doesn’t mean it’s an invalid career. What’s your prescription now, negative nine point-five?”

Taehyun shot Yeonjun a glare, but it also could’ve been just a squint. He turned around and headed toward his office without another word, Kai in tow. Right as he was about to slam the door in Yeonjun’s face, there was a tinkling sound. The bell above the front door signaled the entrance of a customer.

Taehyun paused. Kai looked over curiously, too, and Yeonjun turned around. There was a man standing awkwardly in the doorway, in a poorly-pressed suit and scuffed shoes. He had dark hair that fell over his forehead, round shiny eyes just barely peeking out from beneath his bangs. His cheeks were round, lips puffy in a sort of cute way– like a pouting baby. Yeonjun’s mouth fell open.

“Um… Hello? I saw the sign outside. Nude psychic readings and… tax advice? I was hoping for… um, the tax help.”

“They’re a package deal,” Yeonjun blurted. “I do the psychic reading and then give advice on the– uh, tax stuff.”

Yeonjun heard Taehyun’s jaw click as it snapped shut. Kai seemed shocked, too, but thankfully he didn’t say anything. The man standing in the door look terribly flustered all of a sudden, pink lighting up his cheeks.

“Oh. You’re the psychic reader?”

“And tax advisor,” Yeonjun replied. “Like I said, it’s a two-for-one kind of thing.”

“Ah. And I have to be… naked?”

“Yep.”

“Yeonjun hyung, can I talk to you for a second?” Taehyun looked like he was going to implode at any second as he dragged Yeonjun by the sleeve into his office. Yeonjun waved to the man in the doorway.

“Feel free to take a seat! I’ll be with you in just a second– ow, Taehyun–“

Taehyun shut the door loudly and rounded on Yeonjun. “What the hell do you think you’re doing!?”

“I don’t know!” Yeonjun hissed. “It’s just– I don’t know, my brain malfunctioned and I said it without thinking.”

“Your brain is always malfunctioning, I’m going to need a better excuse.”

“He’s hot,” Yeonjun moaned, face smushing into Taehyun’s desk. “I didn’t know what to do, I was just standing there thinking oh my God, that’s the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen in my life, and then my mouth was moving without my permission–“

“I mean sure, he’s good-looking, I guess, but I don’t think he’s all that,” Kai said doubtfully. “He’s kind of dweeby-looking. Are you sure you’re okay? Do you need your eyes checked, too?”

“Keep dissing me and you’re going to be eating my fists, intern.”

“He’s not an intern, he’s an assistant,” Taehyun said. “Yeonjun hyung, you have got to get it together. You can’t even do math, how are you expecting to help that poor man with his taxes?”

“I can do math!” Yeonjun protested. “I tipped on my coffee this morning!”

“Did you tip manually, or did you pick one of the automatic options on the rotating screen?”

“… The automatic option on the screen.”

“That’s what I thought.” Taehyun sighed and scrubbed his sleeve over his face, looking a lot older than he was. “Now, you’re going to go out there and tell that nice customer that you in fact cannot do taxes, and you’re going to send him in here to me. Do you understand?”

Yeonjun gulped. “Can’t you give me one chance? I can make him fall in love with me, I swear. Just– just this one time.”

“No.”

Yeonjun’s shoulders slumped. “Alright. I’ll bring you his taxes.”

That seemed to pacify Taehyun, and he opened the door for Yeonjun to go back into the waiting area. The man was still there, sitting in one of the weirdly uncomfortable pleather chairs with his long limbs folded up politely. He looked up when Yeonjun walked in. His eyes were shining, reflecting the overhead fluorescents in two little squares. Yeonjun could feel the condensation from the coffee dripping onto his pants.

“Right, so what’s your name?” He congratulated himself on not stuttering as he made eye contact with the handsome man in the chair.

“Choi Soobin.”

“Alright, Soobin, I’m Yeonjun. What kind of help are you looking for?” Yeonjun asked, as smoothly as possible. He watched Soobin’s eyes follow a drop of condensation all the way down to the thigh of Yeonjun’s pants.

“Uh… I just started this job as a consultant, but I can’t make any sense of the tax forms.  It’s based on sales, so kind of like commission, but there’s a couple different forms because of– the 401k? I think? I’m not really sure.”

“That’s okay, I can help you with that.” Yeonjun was hypnotized by the way Soobin’s lips made little round circles as he spoke. He caught sight of dimples and almost fainted. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Taehyun mouthing no at him repeatedly and emphatically.

“Um, who’s that?” Soobin asked, gesturing towards Taehyun.

“Ah, that’s my tax advisor’s assistant,” Yeonjun said.

“And the other guy?” Soobin asked, gesturing at Kai now.

“The… tax advisor’s assistant’s assistant.”

“Ah. You must be pretty busy then, I guess,” Soobin said, touching the back of his neck nervously. “Do a lot of people really come in for nude psychic readings and tax advice?”

“Well, it’s a small business, but I’d say we do pretty well for ourselves,” Yeonjun responded, flashing Soobin a smile. “Would you like to get started right away, or set up an appointment to come back at a later date?”

“I guess… we can start now?” Soobin answered. “I mean, I have to get the tax forms submitted sooner or later.”

Yeonjun nodded dutifully. “I’ll get everything set up. Do you have your papers with you?”

Soobin pulled out a laptop bag and a sheaf of papers, offering them up like he was trying to give Yeonjun week-old roadkill. “They’re… Like I said, I have no idea what I’m doing. Looking at them makes me nauseous.”

“Not to worry! I’ll have my, uh, my assistant look at them while we do the reading,” Yeonjun said cheerfully. “Be right back!”

When he got into Taehyun’s office, the younger man was practically apoplectic with rage. He slammed the laptop bag and papers down onto his desk and took three deep breaths before turning around to look at Yeonjun. Kai was standing in the corner of the room trying to make himself as small as possible, which was a feat considering that every single button on his shirt was struggling under the strain of his gigantic pecs.

“Yeonjun hyung,” Taehyun said, pinching the bridge of his nose. “What did I say to do?”

“Refer his taxes to you,” Yeonjun replied. “Which I did.”

“And did you tell him that the psychic reading was optional, and that he does not in fact have to sit in a room with you naked for half an hour while you try not to drool over him like a Neanderthal?”

“No,” Yeonjun admitted. “But in my defense, you never said I had to do that!”

“Unbelievable.” Taehyun rolled his eyes. “You’re unbelievable, you know that? You’ve conned some perfectly nice, innocent man into a nude psychic reading.”

“Well, technically, if you think about it, every nude psychic reading was a con,” Kai piped up from the spot where he’d jammed himself between the bookshelf and the filing cabinet. “He said himself, he’s not a psychic.”

“It’s still a service!” Yeonjun said. “I tell people what they need to hear.”

“While they’re naked?”

“Yes,” Yeonjun responded crisply. “It’s important to catch them while they’re at their most vulnerable in order for the message to stick.”

“Get out of my office,” Taehyun said, rubbing at his face again like Yeonjun might disappear from his vision like a shitty acid trip. “Go do that psychic reading, and say something nice. It’s the least you can do for him after flat-out lying to him like that.”

“It was an accident! Taehyun, I swear I didn’t mean to, it’s just that sometimes I start talking without thinking–“

“I’m going to start implementing the three-second rule,” Taehyun said acidly. “No speaking until you’ve taken three seconds to think about what you’re going to say and whether it’s appropriate to say or not. Now get out.”

“I love you, Taehyun-ahhhhh,” Yeonjun said, dragging out the last syllable. “Have fun with those taxes!”

Taehyun actually did slam the door in Yeonjun’s face that time, leaving him alone in the waiting room with Soobin.

It was weird. Soobin wasn’t even sitting there on his phone or anything while he waited for Yeonjun to get everything ready. Every time Yeonjun turned around, he was just staring. It should’ve been uncomfortable, but he was so cute that Yeonjun just mostly felt flattered. Was that pretty privilege? Probably, but Yeonjun was nothing more than a man. A gay man. With eyes. And Soobin was very nice to look at.

“You can come this way,” Yeonjun said pleasantly. “We do psychic readings in the back. The energy is better when you can’t hear all the noise from the street.”

“Ah… right. Um, where should I put my clothes?”

“Not to worry! We have a changing room where you can leave your stuff. You’re in good hands.” Yeonjun winked, and Soobin flushed. Why had he winked? What was wrong with him? He’d seen his fair share of naked people, and Soobin was ruining his life with his clothes still on. There was no telling what was going to happen once the clothes were off. Maybe Soobin would– nope. This was a professional environment, and Yeonjun was very pointedly not going to think about it. He was a man with a job to do.

He went back into the reading room to double check that everything was in place, but there honestly wasn’t much to do. It was warmer here than in the waiting room, but he turned the heat up a couple degrees just in case. He fluffed the pillows on the couch and made sure that the blanket was arranged nicely, and then pushed the table with the crystal ball on it slightly closer. The curtain separating the reading room from where Soobin was changing shuffled a little. Expecting Soobin to walk in, Yeonjun took his seat.

Soobin’s head peeked out from behind the curtain. “Do I have to be– um… completely naked?”

“That would be best for the reading, but it’s up to you to decide what you’re comfortable with,” Yeonjun answered.

“O-okay.”

To Yeonjun’s immense surprise, he came in with no clothing on at all– not even his boxers. He seemed extremely embarrassed about it. Yeonjun was determinedly not looking down, though he caught sight of an unfairly perky ass as Soobin went to the couch. He immediately crossed his legs and put his hands down over his crotch like a blushing virgin.

“No need to be worried, I see clients all the time. Nothing to be embarrassed about,” Yeonjun assured him. All the time was a bit of a stretch, but it did seem to make Soobin relax a little.

There was a short moment of silence. It was dimly lit in here to add to the atmosphere,  so Yeonjun could only see the vague outlines of Soobin’s figure. His broad shoulders tapered to a narrow waist, and his legs were exactly as long as they looked. He was by far the most good-looking client Yeonjun had ever had. He was sweating a little beneath his shirt.

“Anything you’re particularly concerned about in your life?” Yeonjun asked, trying to stay focused. “Anything you would like me to concentrate on during the reading?”

“Um– well, like I said, I started a new job recently? So if you could tell me a little bit about how that’s going to go, that would be good, I guess…”

“Of course. Sales and consulting, yes?” Yeonjun asked, remembering what Soobin had said in the waiting room.

“Yes. I’ve been there a year now, but I’m having a little bit of trouble with my coworkers,” Soobin said. He was looking down at his feet. “I don’t think they seem to like me all that much.”

Yeonjun looked him over again, at the way that his shoulders were curled in and he was avoiding eye contact. He made a split-second analysis. “You don’t talk to them much, do you? You wait for them to approach you.”

Soobin looked surprised, blinking. “Um, yes. How did you know that?”

“I’m a psychic. That’s kind of the point.”

“Oh– yes. Right.”

“You could afford to be a little more outgoing,” Yeonjun said. “Let some more of your personality show.” Yeonjun remembered back to the poorly-pressed suit and shoes from the waiting room. “You weren’t planning to go into this line of work, right?”

Soobin looked surprised again, head tilting curiously. “Yes. I wanted to be an actor, but my parents wanted me to go into business.”

“Hmm. That’s no fun, is it?” Yeonjun said, a smile curving his lips.

Soobin blushed, for some reason. “No, not really. I don’t like the job much.”

“I think you should find some common ground with your coworkers,” Yeonjun suggested. “No one wants to talk about work all the time. Find mutual interests, and start from there. Don’t be afraid to approach them first.”

Soobin nodded. He seemed to be thinking on Yeonjun’s advice, the earlier nerves draining from his body. His hands were still carefully folded in his lap, but he didn’t look quite as tense. His left foot was tapping a repetitive rhythm on the carpet.

“Anything else you’d like to know about?” Yeonjun asked. “I’m sensing that there’s something else that’s bothering you. In your personal life, perhaps?”

Soobin hesitated for a second. “Yes, actually. My parents are pushing me to get married.”

“Ah, the classic issue,” Yeonjun sighed. “I get clients in here asking all the time about love lives, you’re not the only one. Whether it’s relationship difficulties or a total and complete inability to find a suitable partner, I get this sort of question all the time.”

Soobin looked down again at the last part, and Yeonjun knew he’d struck gold. “I just– do you think there’s any way that I’ll be able to make them happy? As their son, I mean. I’m not very…” Soobin’s voice trailed off, and his mouth snapped shut.

“Conventional?” Yeonjun said, leaning forward over the table with the crystal ball on it.

Soobin nodded. Compared to the embarrassment of before, now he looked ashamed.

“Don’t worry about it,” Yeonjun told him. “You think my parents weren’t disappointed when I chose this line of work instead of going to college? You think they aren’t embarrassed to have a gay son? Of course they are, but I’ve learned to live with it. I can’t change who I am, and I can’t change how they react to it, either. All I can do is accept myself and hope that they do the same.”

Soobin jumped at the word gay, a look of horror creeping onto his face. “You could tell? That I’m… you know?”

“Gay?” Yeonjun said. “Of course. Psychic, remember? Also, I could tell the second you walked in. Gay recognizes gay.”

Soobin swallowed, his Adam’s apple bobbing in his throat. It was impossible for him to hide any of his emotions with everything quite literally out in the open like this, and Yeonjun could read his body language like a book. He tried to give Soobin a comforting smile. The pinkness in Soobin’s cheeks crept up into his ears, too.

“So you think I should… just be myself?”

“In essence, yes,” Yeonjun answered. “I think there are a lot more good things about you that you hide from the world in fear that people will see the bad. It’s okay to be who you are, even if that means disappointing a couple people along the way. If they really love you for you, they’ll get over it.”

Soobin thought over that for a little while, too. His eyes looked far away, staring at something over Yeonjun’s shoulder. Yeonjun let him zone out for a few more seconds before starting the final part of the reading.

“Can I take a look at your hands?”

Soobin shook himself from his reverie. “Sorry– what? My hands?”

“Yes,” Yeonjun said patiently. “It’s a palm reading.”

Soobin flushed all the way to his chest. Yeonjun was fascinated by the way the pink looked under the dim lights, like cherry blossom petals against his pale skin. “My… um.” Soobin gestured down with his chin, where his hands were hiding his crotch from view.

“Did I say this was a dick reading? Don’t worry, I’m not looking. Palms, please.”

If Soobin turned any more red Yeonjun was mildly afraid that he was going to pass out. He put his hands on the table one at a time, keeping his body as far away from the table as possible like thought Yeonjun was going to bite him. Yeonjun stared at his large hands for several moments, eyes tracing the creases in his skin.

“Good life line,” he murmured to himself. “Lots of vitality. Hmm, seems like you’re going to experience a big change in lifestyle, though, judging by this break here.” He moved on to the next crease, standing up and leaning over the table so that he could see better. His face was very close to Soobin’s right now, which he tried to ignore.

“Realistic thinker, which is a good thing. Very practical. Hmm, your fate line intersects with your life line here. You’re going to meet someone who will heavily affect the course of your life, or perhaps you already have. Can you think of anyone like that?”

He looked up. Soobin’s face was very close, glossy eyes looking right into Yeonjun’s. “Um– I’m not sure yet.”

“Alright, not to worry. You might still be waiting for them, or perhaps you just haven’t realized it yet. Heart line…” Yeonjun let out a gentle huff of air. “You’re closed-off with your emotions until you know someone well, but you easily get heartbroken, right? You’ve learned from this, and now you’re careful with your feelings.”

Soobin gave a slow nod. He swallowed again, and Yeonjun was close enough that he could hear the gulp. He could smell Soobin’s perfume, too, something sort of woody with a hint of vanilla.

“Well, I would say that you shouldn’t be afraid to take some risks,” Yeonjun said. “Especially given your fate line. You don’t want to miss the right person, hmm?” He smiled, sitting back in his chair.

Soobin blinked. He nodded, opening his mouth like he wanted to say something, and then appeared to change his mind. He quickly pulled his hands off the table to hide his crotch again. It was cute, Yeonjun thought, the flustered look and the blushing cheeks. Soobin was surprisingly cute.

“Any last questions or concerns?” Yeonjun asked.

“That’s it?”

“Unless you have anything else you’d like to know about,” Yeonjun responded. “I don’t sense anything else particularly pressing in your future. You’re always welcome back, though, if you run into anything else you’d like advice on.”

“Okay. Um, well, thanks I guess,” Soobin said. “I’ll get dressed, and then we can talk about the taxes?”

“Sounds great,” Yeonjun replied warmly, trying not to show his internal panic. Taehyun was right– he knew absolutely nothing about taxes.

“Alright. I’ll– see you in the waiting room, I guess?”

Yeonjun nodded and waved as Soobin disappeared behind the curtain. That ass was ridiculously fat– what kind of office worker needed a posterior like that? Especially considering how slim he was, it was insane. Yeonjun smacked himself in the face as he left the room and went into Taehyun’s office.

“You done tormenting him?” Taehyun said, before Yeonjun had even closed the door.

“It wasn’t even that bad!” Yeonjun immediately slid to the ground with his back against the door, trying to get the image of Soobin’s plush ass out of his brain. He smacked himself again for good measure.

“For him, maybe,” Kai said. “You look like you’re going to have a stress-induced heart attack before Taehyun even does.”

“He’s fucking perfect,” Yeonjun wailed. “It’s so much worse than I thought. He’s handsome and cute and shy and so lovely, and he smells like vanilla–“

“I still stand by the fact that he looks dweeby,” Kai interrupted. “But hey, whatever floats your boat.”

“Enough personal crises, you’ve had too many of those in my office. Get up and give that man his taxes back.”

Yeonjun looked up. Taehyun was standing over him with the laptop bag and sheaf of papers. The frown of disapproval on his face would’ve killed a weaker man, but Yeonjun had gotten it so many times that he was practically immune by now. “What should I tell him about his taxes? You know, as his tax advisor?”

“You should tell him to get a different tax advisor. Me, preferably, although anyone who actually has a degree in accounting will probably do.”

“Taehyun,” Yeonjun pleaded. “Help me out here. Please. He’s the hottest man I’ve ever seen in my life.”

“I thought Jeon Jungkook was the hottest man you’ve ever seen in your life,” Taehyun said, one eyebrow raised.

“I’ve never seen Jeon Jungkook naked, and I doubt very much that I ever will unless he wants tax advice.”

Taehyun sighed. He shoved the bag and the papers into Yeonjun’s hands, hauling him to his feet none too gently. “I’ve already fixed his issues, he’s just bad at math and miscalculated half of his deductions. It was an easy case, I could’ve fixed it in my sleep. Just take these back to him and tell him to file as-is.”

“I love you,” Yeonjun said fervently. “Kang Taehyun, I don’t know what I would do without you.”

“Embarrass yourself in front of the man of your dreams, probably,” Taehyun said flatly.

“You’re right. You’re right, I would, I would’ve definitely done that. Kang Taehyun, you are amazing, and if I was in charge of your salary I would give you a raise. I’ll buy you coffee tomorrow, maybe even lunch–“

Taehyun shoved him out of his office and closed the door.

Soobin was already fully dressed in the waiting room. He looked like he hadn’t been expecting Yeonjun to come back so quickly, but stared up at him expectantly. Those round eyes were so endearing. No grown man had any right to be that adorable.

“I’ve got your taxes,” Yeonjun said. “Piece of cake. You just mixed up a couple of the… deductions? Yeah, the deductions. You can just file these as they are, nothing else to worry about.”

“Oh, that’s amazing. You’re the best, seriously.” Soobin took his laptop bag and stuffed the papers back inside, standing up to bow awkwardly. “How much do I owe you?”

“Nothing,” Yeonjun said breezily. “It’s free for cuties like you.” He winked again, and Soobin made a funny sort of squeaking sound. Yeonjun would deal with Taehyun’s rage later.

“Are– are you sure?”

“Totally,” Yeonjun replied, waving as Soobin headed for the door. “And like I said, you’re welcome back any time!”

Soobin looked like he was going to say something, but in the end he turned and left without speaking. The bell above the door jingled merrily on his way out.

“Please do not tell me you gave that man his tax help for free.”

“I’ll take it out of my paycheck,” Yeonjun said, turning around to see an irate Taehyun leaning against the doorframe of his office. “It’ll be fine, Taehyun, I swear. What, half an hour’s worth of work? That can’t even be that bad.”

“It’s $120 per hour, and I round up.”

“Fuck.”

Yeonjun was mourning the loss of his morning coffee for the next two months when the front door burst open so hard that it bounced off the wall. The bell squealed. Yeonjun whipped around. Soobin was standing there, breathing hard like he’d run back. His face was flushed with exertion.

“I know I have my clothes on right now, but what are the odds that you can see a date in my future? With you, I mean.”

Yeonjun’s mouth fell open. “You want to take me on a date?”

“Yes,” Soobin said determinedly. Yeonjun could tell that he was nervous, but trying to hide it.

Yeonjun grinned. “Really good, actually. I’d say 100% likelihood. How about tomorrow night? You can pick me up after work.”

“Great. That’s– that’s perfect. Bye, Yeonjun. See you then.”

“You can call me Yeonjun hyung!”

“Okay. See you tomorrow, Yeonjun hyung.”

With that, Soobin was gone. The door swung shut again, bell ringing.

Yeonjun turned around smugly. Taehyun looked absolutely flabbergasted, Kai peering out of his office with a smirk on his face. “Not too bad, huh Kang Taehyun? Told you it would work.”

“How the fuck did you do that?” Taehyun was staring at Yeonjun with shock coloring his features. “What did you say to him while he was in there?”

“Oh, the usual,” Yeonjun said lightly. “Not many people can resist my charm, you know. I’m popular around here for a reason.”

Taehyun looked very suspicious, but Kai on the other hand looked delighted. “You really must be psychic! I can’t believe you predicted that so perfectly! God, the look on Taehyun’s face when that guy came back– that was crazy, seriously. You think he’s in love with you already? I wouldn’t doubt it, I mean, he looked so whipped when he came running back in here.”

The door dinged again. Yeonjun turned around, expecting to see Soobin, but there was someone else there instead. It was a guy around their age, with shaggily-cut brown hair and a small, pale face. He was pretty in a sort of edgy way, Yeonjun supposed.

“Uh, hey. I saw the sign, it said nude psychic readings and tax advice? Anyway, I was wondering if I could get some help with my taxes.”

“They’re a package deal,” Taehyun blurted. Kai goggled at him, and Yeonjun felt like his ears were misleading him. Had Kang Taehyun just said–

“Oh. That’s kinda weird, but whatever, I guess. Are you the psychic reader?”

“Yes, and the tax advisor,” Taehyun answered. He was staring at the man like he was seeing God for the first time. He was cute, Yeonjun thought, but not that cute. Maybe Taehyun just liked emo boys.

“Okay. I brought my tax stuff, should I just leave it here?”

“You can give it to my tax advisor’s assistant,” Taehyun said, pointing at Yeonjun. “Reading room is right this way.”

Notes:

if you are living in one of those countries where your taxes are just like mailed to you or whatever just know that i'm mad. i'm real mad.
