Work Text:
Princess Ursa II hated funerals. They were so unnecessarily big and elaborate that there were always too many people with awkward overflowing emotions that she never cared to meet or even greet. They always seemed excited to see her "all grown up," as they said, even though she had no idea who they were. Not like she cared.
This one was different, though; this one is the one she's been dreading—the one with no fake smiles or pretending she knew the old woman calling her sweetheart; the one she cared about; the one she hated the most; the one that wasn't supposed to arrive.
She wasn't supposed to leave her. She said it. She promised it. "I'll never leave you alone," she said.
The worst funeral of them all.
Loneliest day of her life.
Fire Lord Izumi's funeral.
