Chapter Text

“I’m not interested, okay?” Emma says again, for the hundredth time.

They are standing outside Granny’s near the outdoor tables on the sidewalk. Neal looks at her like he doesn’t believe her words. Like she’s just ‘being stubborn’. Like it’s only a matter of time before she changes her mind.

He’s infuriating.

Actually, Neal and Hook are.

And so is Snow for constantly saying she should think more about herself for a change and go on a date and some other bullshit she’s finally decided she is done with.

“I’m already seeing someone.” It escapes her mouth before she can think of the clear consequences of lying so blatantly in Storybrooke of all places: a small town where everyone knows everyone and everything that’s going on.

In hindsight, she should’ve stopped at not being interested and endured more of this annoying chasing from two annoying men.

“Oh?” Neal scratches his nose with a sniff and looks to the side, pretending to be unaffected. “That’s new. Anyone we know?” he asks next.

A bell tinkles. Emma distractedly glances to her right and does a double-take. There she is. Her salvation and her damnation all at once as she leaves the establishment to meet them outside. “Regina!” Emma exclaims and waves, wanting to escape the conversation.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Like hell would Regina want to speak to her for more than a few seconds willingly. But everything seems better than the alternative.

Regina’s eyebrows furrow in confusion when she focuses on them.

“No way,” Neal says, connecting nonexistent dots. His mouth falls open and stays that way for a few seconds.

Emma’s smile falters. “N-no, wait, um—” Her hands start to tingle in nervousness.

She wants the floor to swallow her whole when she realizes just how much worse it can get. She can forget annoying men. Now her ex-boyfriend thinks she is gay .

Neal eyes them back and forth as Regina gets closer. He isn’t her biggest fan on a normal day, but today he can’t hide his grimace at all. “I’ll… I’ll talk to you later?”

“What was that about?” Regina stops next to her and crosses her arms, frowning at a retreating Neal.

Emma shrugs. “Nothing. Gotta go,” she mumbles and walks away in his direction. Peeking behind her, she can see Regina hasn’t moved an inch, arms crossed and all. An odd feeling gets caught in Emma’s chest, but she brushes it aside. She has a thief to catch.

This time, he isn’t stealing watches or groceries. He’s stealing a secret that was not supposed to see the light of day. Ever.

In the process of catching up to him, she receives a call to deal with a complaint that Miss Ginger’s sprinkler is watering Mr. Krzyszkowski’s begonias and he’s ready to destroy her precious petunias in turn. Oh, the joys of being a small town sheriff.

It distracts her enough that she loses Neal to one of the other smaller streets, and then she has to walk in the opposite direction entirely to deal with fucking flowers.

By the time she’s stopped the begonia versus petunia fight, Emma has all but forgotten about the… incident.

***

The next day, a cloudy Saturday, starts as uneventful as Storybrooke can get when there are no new villains lurking around, which thank god considering freaking Peter Pan and Neverland still manage to keep them all traumatized enough. With some of the Lost Boys still waiting for a family, Henry suffering from nightmares occasionally, and Emma being reminded of those stupid Echo Caves that made her parents admit they wanted to start an actual family… It’s difficult to cope.

Henry spent the night at Regina’s — he’s realized he needs his mom a lot after everything that happened, and honestly, Emma can’t blame him — but that didn’t mean Emma was free of disrupted sleep. Flashing blue and purple sparks, dark brown eyes pleading for her to leave, an eclipse shifting as Henry’s lifeless body was cradled in her arms.

It had been a long night.

Emma wakes up only around 11 AM and drags herself out of bed with enough time to spare so she can join Mary Margaret and David for lunch.

The loft is cramped as it is; she’ll have to move out soon so Henry can have his own room too. There’s not enough privacy for anyone — oh god, she wants to bleach the image of her parents in bed together after she came back from the Enchanted Forest from her mind forever.

Throwing on some clean jeans and a gray T-shirt, she grabs her red leather jacket and a gray beanie to match. Boots are next to the door. Last thing are her keys, jiggling before she shoves them in one of her jeans’ back pockets.

The walk to Granny’s is very short, seeing as the loft is only two minutes away. Her parents are already waiting inside when she gets in, the bell announcing her presence. For some reason, everyone turns to look at her, and that odd feeling of being the center of attention rushes down her spine.

She hasn’t experienced it this strong since she first arrived in Storybrooke.

With a confused frown, Emma enters her parents’ booth, her back to the door. They look at her with wide eyes, just the same as the rest of the diner. What the— “Hey guys,” she says, scratching her nails against her jeans under the table. “What’s up?”

“Emma! Why did I have to hear it from Neal?” Mary— Snow asks in that disappointed tone that Emma has come to hate because of the way her stomach drops immediately even without registering the actual words.

“What do you mea—”

Once the actual words register, it gets worse. Because it doesn’t take too long to understand why everyone is staring and why her parents have worry written all over their faces.

“Oh no… Wait, I can explain.”

The bell jingles loudly behind them, the noise startling her with the way the door rattles. She wants to smash that thing into pieces.

“BIG NEWS, EVERYBODY!” Leroy shouts excitedly.

Emma’s mouth closes and she slides down on her seat a little, willing for the ground to swallow her up again in less than twenty-four hours. As she holds her head in her hands with her elbows on the table, hiding from Snow and David’s stares, she knows what he’s going to say before he says it.

Nausea claws in her throat and she hasn’t eaten anything yet.

“THE EVIL QUEEN AND THE SAVIOR ARE TOGETHER!” he continues, that motherfucker.

And her cheeks feel warm immediately.

Storybrooke sucks.

***

Obviously, the next step is to hightail it out of Granny’s through the back and get to Regina’s.

Her parents accept her excuse of Uh we were waiting before telling anyone and let her go with minimum fuss, though they’re expecting an explanation soon. Well, Mary Margaret — ugh, Snow — is. David says to take her time, which she appreciates.

Her stomach grumbles in protest for skipping lunch as she crosses the street behind Main Street and keeps power walking.

She hasn’t really stopped to process any of it. All that crosses her mind is that she knows Regina will be even angrier with the whole thing if she learns about any of this crazy situation from a third-party aka Leroy or a random citizen who still has a bone to pick with the ‘Evil Queen’.

There’s also Henry to consider. And Emma just essentially came out to her parents and all of Storybrooke in one go.

Her thoughts keep jumping from one problem to the other, until she’s nearly suffocating in it. She hates to admit it, but Regina often balances her as a voice of reason and vice-versa. Maybe she won’t be too mad to actually help?

They’d reached a tentative truce after Neverland, to be honest. Henry’s well-being is their priority. He needs both to be there for him, not at odds. It’s still awkward — they haven’t really talked about everything that happened before. They aren’t friends or anything. Emma wishes they were. However, now…

“Shit, she’s gonna kill me,” Emma mutters to herself when she spots the mansion.

She knocks anyway.

Regina peeks through the small window on the side of the door before opening it. She meets Emma outside.

“Yes, Miss Swan?” she asks when Emma just stands there doing nothing.

Emma follows the motion of Regina pulling up her long sleeve until her thin wrist is visible. She checks her wristwatch. Then her gaze goes back to Emma, wary and closed off as she lowers her arm. “You’re a few hours early. Henry’s currently napping upstairs.” She can read between the lines, can read the worry in Regina’s expression that Emma is suddenly gonna regret the whole agreement and just take her son away from her.

Not a chance.

Wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and gray sweatpants, Regina has never looked so casual. A very expensive casual, but still. It suits her. Emma stares for far too long and knows her cheeks are red again. From the cold, of course.

“May I come in? It’s not about Henry.” She pauses. “Yet,” she amends, placing her hands inside her jeans’ pockets to hide the trembling in them. “Something happened.”

Regina hesitates. “Alright,” she says, motioning with her chin for Emma to follow her inside.

Emma watches as Regina glances upstairs, probably to check on Henry. She pauses by the study door. “Are you sure it doesn’t concern him?” she asks, her expression blank.

“Positive.”

Rolling her eyes, Regina enters the study. She sits on one sofa and Emma goes for the other one. “Go on. The suspense is killing me,” she deadpans.

Emma swallows with difficulty and tries a smile in response. It’s impossible not to compare this to their first meeting, since this is only the second time she’s stepped in here. And it will be the second time she gets sent on her way abruptly, she knows.

“Is this about yesterday?” Regina asks.

“Wha— Oh. Okay, yeah. It is. How did you…?”

Regina’s head tilts a bit to both sides. “Two strange occurrences in succession cannot be a coincidence.”

“Yeah, well…”

“If this is about getting back together with Neal, then I honestly do not want to hear it.”

Emma winces. “No! Ew, why?”

“Spit it out, Emma,” Regina says, her tone flat but with a hint of urgency based on her slightly wide eyes.

If only it were easy, right? To just admit to the other mother of her kid that they’ve been mistaken for a couple and it’s her fault.

“Everyone thinks we’re dating.”

Regina’s eyebrows rise. “Everyone?”

“Yeah, I guess by now all of Storybrooke basically knows because of Leroy.” That’s part of the ‘top 5 worst moments in her life’, thank you very much.

Looking to the side, Regina’s expression changes to one of contemplation. Emma holds her breath, waiting for her answer. “I see,” is all that is provided after a moment.

Emma sighs in relief. It’s followed by surprise. Because— “That’s it? You’re not mad?”

“Why would I? It’s your business.” Regina frowns. “Well, there’s Henry to consider then.”

“It’s our business. It’s not even true! I’m not dating anyone— I’m not dating you,” Emma says, cheeks flaming hot again as she raises her hands in frustration.

Regina crosses her legs and leans her elbow onto the arm of the sofa with poise. “What do I have to do with any of this?

They stare at each other for a beat.

Emma’s stomach plummets right to her feet when it dawns on her. Oh, shit. “You thought I was talking about Neal.”

Regina nods slowly. “Yes.”

“Everyone thinks we—” she moves her hand between herself and then Regina “ are dating.”

Emma’s seen Regina shaken up so many times by now. Thanks to Cora, to the trigger, to Neverland, to Henry’s almost dying. But she’s never seen her pale this quickly and then get flustered this fast. Regina clears her throat, her back now ramrod straight. “Oh.”

Emma’s hands grip her knees tightly. She tries to say something, maybe a funny remark to pretend she’s fine, but she’s anything but.

“I fail to see how this came to be, Miss Swan,” Regina continues, her cheeks still red and her fingers fidgeting with one another, but otherwise she looks calm. She doesn’t look like she’ll throw a fireball at Emma for all of this. (Yet.)

“You’re awfully calm about this—”

“Emma,” she snaps. “Focus. Is this some kind of joke?” She narrows her eyes.

“No! Why would I joke about—” Emma leans back against the uncomfortable sofa and blows out a breath through her mouth. “No. There was a misunderstanding? Neal thought my… small lie meant you were the one I was dating yesterday.”

“Ah. So that is why he left like he’d had a pixie in his pants.”

“Is that a thing—? You know what, nevermind, I don’t wanna know.”

Regina rolls her eyes.

“I told him I was already seeing someone and he assumed it was you when I called you over,” Emma says, running her hands over her jeans nervously. This is so embarrassing.

“Why did you call me over?”

“I just wanted to escape the conversation, I’m sorry,” Emma answers, aware that her poor decision making created a big problem. Shame swirls in her gut, and she brushes a hand over her throat to the back of her neck in an attempt to snuffle the prickling sensation.

“We never even talk. What possessed you to—” She growls.

“I don’t know! I’m sorry!

“And then you didn’t bother to, I don’t know, talk some sense into him?”

“I was going to! I got a sheriff call. You know how it is with Miss Ginger and— Uh, wait— Regina?”

The woman in question suddenly gets up and makes for the study door. Yep, Emma knew it. Time to be kicked out.

But Regina doesn’t wait for Emma, she just leaves.

Emma finds her in the dining room, pouring apple cider in a glass. She has to admit it’s pretty hot of her to just throw that back in one smooth movement without flinching.

“I needed a drink for this conversation,” Regina says, almost awkwardly as she explains herself, letting go of her glass on the table with a resounding clink. “Apple cider?”

“No, thanks… I didn’t get to have lunch.”

Regina doesn’t say anything else for the next couple of minutes besides reluctantly telling her there’s honey garlic pork chops and rice Emma can have. She leads Emma to the kitchen and grabs two plastic containers from the fridge. Then, she places the leftovers on a plate and puts it in the microwave. Emma lets her stay in silence while she works, warmth creeping up her spine at the gesture. Regina could have just ignored it, and yet…

It gives Emma time to process as well, while she’s moved to a room opposite the hallway leading to the foyer, to sit at a circular table. It’s cozier than the big dining room. Regina sits on her left and motions to the steamy food. Emma doesn’t have to be told twice.

God, her cooking is good. She’s only tried it twice before. That lasagna at her welcome back party and a very awkward dinner two weeks ago at Henry’s insistence. Emma tries to pace herself, but sometimes it’s hard to leave certain habits behind.

“Have you told… your parents?” Regina asks in lieu of commenting on Emma’s bad table manners.

Emma swallows before saying, “They were with me at Granny’s when Leroy spread the news.”

Regina snorts. “Talk about timing.”

Emma glances at her and smiles despite herself. “That’s when I found out too.” She can see Regina’s trying hard not to laugh.

Seriously, none of it makes sense. Regina’s supposed to be angry, right? She’d expected insults and words about her incompetence and how she could let it get to this point, but nothing of the sort has happened yet.

Emma keeps waiting for the explosion as she takes another bite, and then another.

She puts her cutlery on the plate when she’s done. Getting up with them, Emma goes back to the kitchen and straight to the sink.

“So this means I don’t get to tell Snow,” Regina comments, leaning against the counter and watching Emma wash her dishes. She tsks. “Damn it, Leroy.”

“Oh, I’m so sorry for ruining that for you,” she says, sparing her a sarcastic glance. She goes back to the plate, sponging it back and forth. “Seriously, don’t you think we should fix this?”

“My reputation won’t suffer more than it already has, Miss Swan. In fact, this might help me.”

Regina’s still upset she’s not the mayor, it seems.

Emma groans. “Of course, an ulterior motive.”

“What’s so wrong about it?” Regina’s voice rises slightly, sounding almost offended. “This arrangement is also beneficial for you.”

“This arrangement?” Emma asks incredulously, setting the plate in the dish rack. “What the hell?”

Regina crosses her arms, eyes narrowed. She looks upset at Emma’s negative response, but that’s impossible. Isn’t it? “If you prefer to call it off, then by all means,” Regina says. “I just wonder whether anyone is going to believe you now.”

Emma’s shoulders drop. Regina’s right. No one is going to. And she lied to her parents on her way out, sort of confirming there is a relationship to begin with. She picks up the plastic container next. “Okay, but what do we do? Are we really going to…”

The answer is yes. And that’s how she ends up dating Regina.

Sort of.

(It’s complicated, as usual.)

***

What follows is Emma sticking around so they can tell Henry. Regina convinces her they shouldn’t let anyone know about their… arrangement, because it could compromise it. Everyone believes they are together, and that way it shall remain. Therefore, not even Henry will know the truth when they tell him, a thought that sits uncomfortably in Emma’s gut, and possibly Regina’s too. But they don’t want to confuse him more than he already will be. Yeah, kid, we’re together but not really??

They move to the living room after Regina is done drying and putting away the dishes; whenever Henry wakes up he’ll spot them easily.

Emma throws herself onto the far more comfortable couch than the study’s and blows out a breath. From the corner of her eye she sees Regina sit on the other end. Emma takes her phone from her pocket and immediately winces at the number of missed calls. Two from Neal. Five from Snow. One from David. And a text from Ruby that just says I’m here if you wanna talk.

Her face mustn’t look very good, because Regina notices. “Trouble?”

“No idea. I’m gonna hide for a while longer I think.”

“By all means,” Regina says. “Make yourself at home.”

“Hey, I don’t have to hide here. I don’t mean to impose.”

Regina sighs, leaning her head back on the couch and looking at nothing in particular in front of her. “I apologize. I’m a little nervous, I must say.”

And isn’t that a sign Regina has changed? An apology. Wow.

Emma mirrors Regina’s position, though she turns her head to watch Regina’s profile instead. “Henry?” she asks.

“Mm. I’m starting to wonder if this could ruin our tentative amends. That he might see this as a spell I cast on you or something.” Regina purses her lips.

“I doubt it. He knows you love him. He doesn’t see you as a villain anymore.”

Regina’s eyelashes flutter, and she turns in Emma’s direction. It’s distracting. “You think so?”

“Yeah,” Emma breathes out, suddenly flustered at the attention. So she redirects the conversation. “How are you so calm about the rest of it? It’s not just… saying it to people. We’ll have to date.”

“We will be seen together for a month or two at most.” Regina waves it off, sitting up properly and avoiding Emma now for some reason. “Nothing grand.”

“I don’t mean it that way, though that is also a problem, I’m just…”

Emma sighs. She’s not going to tell Regina of all people she’s afraid of being gay in public.

Thankfully, before she can push and prod, they hear footsteps and both turn their heads to the room’s threshold.

“Mom?” A pause, and then, as he registers Emma’s presence, “Mom? What are you doing here?”

“Wow, kid, so happy to see me!” Emma jokes.

Henry laughs. “I’m just surprised, that’s all,” he says, then runs into the room to give her a hug. He quickly moves to Regina and hugs her too. Emma gets the privilege to see her soft smile and closed eyes as she hugs him back.

“We have something to tell you,” Regina says when they move apart, and it’s like Emma got someone poking her stomach, because it immediately drops. No warning. I guess she really is nervous.

“Oh no, what’s wrong?” His face falls. He keeps standing, looking between them. “You’re not fighting again, right?”

Regina shakes her head. She places a hand under his chin briefly, caressing his skin soothingly. She’s such a mom it makes Emma’s heart ache. “No, nothing like that. Quite the opposite, sweetheart.”

“We wanted you to hear from us first, since the whole town's talking about it,” Emma adds.

Regina clears her throat. Henry focuses on her. “Emma and I… we’re…” It’s almost like she’s trying out several words and can’t seem to find the right one. Her lips move and nothing comes out.

Emma shifts closer to her on the couch, but doesn’t do anything else. They aren’t exactly even friends and now they have to pretend they’re dating. She doesn’t know how to comfort people, she doesn’t know how to comfort Regina.

“We… Your mom and I, when we were in Neverland…” Emma begins, taking a peak at Regina, who raises an eyebrow in her direction, waiting to see where this is going “...we were there trying to save you and had to spend a lot of time together. We started to get along a lot better.”

This is somewhat true. It’s not a pure lie, at least. She can bend the truth a little to fit the story she’s making up on the spot.

Henry nods at her words, confusion clear in his face.

“So then we realized we have a lot in common,” she says.

“Like what?” Henry asks.

“Yes, Emma, like what?” Regina repeats.

Emma grinds her teeth, annoyed at her goading. “Uh, like… how protective we can both be?” Okay, that was lame. She thinks for a second. “And how we made each other better while we were searching for you. We pushed our differences aside, y’know? For Operation Save Henry.” She smiles at him, her palms sweating on top of her jeans. She dares to take a look at Regina again, whose expression actually changed to something resembling surprise.

Maybe because that didn’t ring false at all.

Even Emma is impressed with herself.

Henry smiles. “That’s good.”

“We’ve been spending time together now that we’re back,” Regina says.

“Uhhhh,” Henry drags it out, pouting in confusion, “so we’re here because… you’re now friends?”

Regina lets out a sound between a laugh and a hum, tilting her head. “Yes, but…”

“We are friends, yes,” Emma tells him. “But what we’re doing is called dating.”

“Do you know what that word means?” Regina asks him gently.

Henry’s eyes widen and one can see the gears turning in his head. “I think so, yes.”

Regina looks like she’s about to protest, clearly not happy about their kid knowing what dating means, but Emma places a hand on hers absentmindedly as she tries to communicate with her eyes, Let him talk.

“It’s like when Valerie said she’s dating Jimmy, so they’re always together at recess? And sometimes she kisses his cheek.” He scrunches his nose on the last part.

Good, he still thinks kissing is gross. That’s a relief.

Though the image of herself and Regina playing hopscotch at recess has a snort escaping her lips. “Yeah, kid, kinda like that. It means we’re spending more time together… more than just as friends. But as adults, not at the playground. We promise not to kiss in front of you.”

“Ewww, Emma!” Henry says, then breaks out in laughter. He’s so sweet Emma could cry.

Regina pokes his stomach teasingly. “We love you very much. And this won’t change our love for you.”

“I know it won’t,” he replies matter-of-factly. “This just means we get to spend more time together as a family!” He locks them both in a tight hug.

Emma’s stomach churns. A family.

“Wait, but why does everyone else know before me?” Henry asks, stepping back with a frown.

Neal should thank Emma because she doesn’t throw him under the bus. In fact, she doesn’t mention him at all. “Leroy found out,” is all she provides, like it explains all of it.

“Ohh, okay.” Henry nods. Maybe it does explain all of it.

“You’re okay with this, honey?” Regina asks, brushing a hand on his forehead to fix his hair.

“Of course! This is so cool! Does this mean you’re moving in, Emma?”

Emma nearly chokes on her spit. “Whoooa, kid, let’s not get ahead of ourselves.”

***

As much as she’d love to hide at the mansion for at least a week, she has to face the music. Starting with her parents. The walk back under the stars helps, now that there’s no real rush to get places.

Regina was surprisingly receptive to the whole thing. She might be the easiest hurdle to overcome in all this, despite the fact that they’ll be pretending to date each other.

Henry was over the moon, which… could become a problem later, she thinks, and shoves the idea aside to deal with it later. Emma was not expecting such an effusive response from him after everything that happened between all of them in the past year.

But her problem is her parents, really, she reminds herself when she makes it past the front lawn of their building, her heart sped up and not just because of the cardio on the way back. She starts climbing the stairs, one step at a time.

Okay, yeah, back when she first came to Storybrooke she’d had a tiny crush on Regina.

Obviously that went away quickly, once the beautiful unattainable woman became a bit of a psychopath who probably didn’t like women or, at the very least, didn’t like Emma.

Besides, Emma had locked away her preference for women in a box with a key that was never supposed to be found ever again. So she focused on Graham instead. Jealous of him and not of Regina, but she did.

Then came Hook, and all she wanted was for him to get away. So she kissed him in Neverland, to thank him, in hopes that would be enough — make him forget about her.

But Neal also came back, and now she had two men following her around daily, treating her as a contest to be won, and they didn’t care she kept saying no and pushing them away, her lack of interest wasn’t enough, it wasn’t—

She doesn’t want men following her anymore.

But what she wants got her in trouble in the past.

Now all of Storybrooke knows, her newly claimed parents know, and she’s more afraid than ever, because in Neverland they admitted in front of her they want a baby to raise, and she’s the broken child, the one they didn’t really get to do any of it. They could just throw her out now. Especially after this.

Emma takes a deep breath through her nose, suddenly feeling too big for her skin. She realizes she’s standing at their front door a moment later. If she doesn’t calm down now, she’s…

She goes back and sits at the landing, fighting the spots in her vision as she attempts to breathe. She covers her eyes with her hands and breathes in and out. In and out.

“David, we gotta find her. I’m going to—” Emma suddenly hears before her breath hitches again, heart thudding in her chest. She feels a hand on top of her head, caressing her hair gently. Removing her hands from her face, Emma sniffles. She hates this. Hates being so vulnerable in front of any of them.

Snow sits down next to her. “Emma…” she says softly, and then just tugs her closer and lets Emma breathe in and out with her. David joins after a moment, and she’s now sandwiched between her parents.

They might still want you, a traitorous voice says in her head.

“We were worried when you didn’t come back,” David tells her when Emma’s feeling a little less overwhelmed. By a margin.

“I’m sorry. I was actually at R—” her throat closes up but she pushes through “—at Regina’s. We were telling Henry the news before he found out from somebody else.”

She’s so sure they’ve just shared one of those looks above her head. “Oh? How did that go?” Snow asks, voice higher than her usual. She’s not happy, Emma can tell.

“He took it well, actually,” Emma replies, looking down at the steps.

“That was… unexpected.” David comments. He takes hold of one of her hands and squeezes it a little. “Took us by surprise. We thought you had something with Hook?”

“I thought you were secretly seeing Neal, to be honest,” Snow says, mirth in her tone.

Emma lets out a wet chuckle.

“But as much as we… don’t really understand…”

“You and Regina have been spending more time together lately,” David completes. The way they just know how to complete each other’s thoughts is kind of eerie. “And we know you bonded in Neverland... You’ve protected her when no one else would.”

“Look, I’m not going to say I’m ecstatic about this, Emma,” Snow continues their speech effortlessly. “It is Regina. I don’t trust her that much. But as we’ve been trying for Henry, we’ll try for you.”

Emma blinks, tears gathering in her eyes. What?

“We love you very much and this won’t change that,” her mom finishes. Her mom.

An echo of Emma and Regina’s words to Henry. It tugs at something in her heart.

And if Emma starts crying like a baby in front of them, well…

She totally does.
