A Surprising Gift

Summary:

Mina was always rather forward with her feelings. Izuku, on the other hand, tended to be far more reserved. Not this time, though.

Notes:

I had an idea and thought it was funny, so here we are! I'm kinda busy and most definitely procrastinating actual fics that I'm planning and whatnot, but that's fine because I've already set myself up to be an unreliable writer.

Also, I wrote it piecewise so it could be fully incoherent for all I know. I read it through once to make sure for spelling, but it's already a segmented fic in my mind and I don't plan on waiting a month to forget about it to test for coherence, so we're stuck with what we've got. You're welcome.

Anyway, enjoy the fic I guess.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

"Hey there, cutie!" Mina announced as her boyfriend strolled into the classroom. He blushed and made his way over to her desk, where she was surrounded by Kirishima, Kaminari, and Jirou.

It was a much bolder play than she was expecting, but Izuku actually leaned over and pecked her on the cheek when he managed to squeeze in between the maze of desks and students. She grinned at his crimson face, shimmying over to the edge of the desktop she was currently perched upon so that she could lean into his side.

"H-Hey yourself," he stuttered out, scratching his cheek nervously. Mina cupped a hand on her cheek and swooned exaggeratedly, pushing herself further into him.

"Oh dear! Have I just been blessed today?" she asked while looking up, as though addressing a higher power. The group around her laughed out loud, Izuku chuckling along anxiously.

Good. He was making progress.

Kirishima gave the green-haired boy a thumbs up with a wide grin plastered on his face. "You go, Midobro!"

Jirou just rolled her eyes. "Give Greenie here a break, would ya? The dude looks like he's about to overheat," she warned. Mina giggled as Izuku shot the purplette a grateful smile.

"Right! I-I, uh, I just wanted to say good morning. And, uh, to remind you of our d-date tonight, Mina-chan," Izuku said. The pink girl smiled fondly.

"Don't worry Izu-kun, the last thing I'd forget about is our mysterious date. In fact, I can guarantee you I've probably forgotten more about what's on today's quiz than I have about tonight," she laughed. Izuku gasped, his countenance bordering on horrified.

"Mina-chan! You could've asked me if you needed some help! English is my best subject, you know," he declared. Mina laughed and waved him off.

"Actually, I'm pretty sure your best class is Heroics, and then Ethics, so it's more like your third best class. 'Sides, it's not that I needed help. I kinda, uh... forgot about it?" she said sheepishly, scratching the back of her head in embarrassment. Izuku sighed with a fond smile. "Hey! I was thinking about more important things!" she tried to insist.

"Why am I not surprised...?" he muttered to himself, pulling away from Mina slightly so he could slide off his backpack, and pulled out a notebook. "Alright then, time for a crash course I guess. Lemme just get my cheat sheet for this unit."

Kaminari cut in. "Wait, you have a cheat sheet for the unit? How'd you manage that?" he asked. Midoriya glanced up with a raised eyebrow.

"...I made it. I usually try to condense every unit's notes into a single page as a personal test of my understanding before I take our exams. Parse the information into the essentials and all that," he explained. Kaminari gaped, then laughed uneasily.

"I, uh, what? How did I know about this until literally our fourth semester here?" he wondered to himself. Then he shook himself out of it. "Never mind, it doesn't matter. Guess this effort is why you're at the top and I'm stuck at the bottom of the roster," he joked. Izuku rolled his eyes.

"Partly. But I honestly think there are a lot of us that need to get tested for accessibility stuff. There's a lot of accommodations that would probably help out hero students in the classroom," he said passionately. "As a whole, we're able to be heroes because we're athletic, active, and uncommonly driven. Hyperfixation and hyperactivity can both be incredibly detrimental to traditional classroom learning, and I'm willing to bet a lot of hero students struggle unknowingly with it. Especially considering that we're usually lauded for our strength and put on a pedestal instead of being offered help since we are perfect and have no weaknesses." Mina smiled softly at her boyfriend's driven words.

For all of their first year, Class 1-A was busy being targeted by the League of Villains and other such dangers. It carried over well into their second year, to the point that the entire spring semester had to be retaken. So technically, despite already having been at school for two and a half years, the transcripts only showed three total semesters. Thanks Tomura.

How did her own brain go on such a tangent? Mina sighed at her lack of focus. It was exactly what Izuku had talked to her about in the past. She had officially gotten diagnosed with ADHD, which made sitting still or focusing singularly on school was a difficult task for her. Her lovely, perfect boyfriend had helped her with incorporating other ways to help her study outside of classes and always advocated for help to be given freely to those who needed it.

It was the whole reason they got to know each other, and why she was currently dating the single greatest person in the school. Objectively speaking, of course.

"Mina-chan? Do you have a spare fifteen minutes for me to jam knowledge into your skull?" Izuku asked with a straight face. The horned girl couldn't help but let out a laugh at the absurd question, never mind her almost-timid-but-not-quite-anymore boyfriend being the one to say it.

"Haha! Yeah, let's do this Izu-kun."

She bombed it. No doubt about it.

Despite the crash course Izu gave her, the quiz was literally three hours later and there was absolutely no way Mina was retaining all that stuff for that long without repeating a fifteen minute lesson in her mind like it was a religious mantra or something.

Still, though, it was finished now and she could put it out of her mind safely. Besides, she had lunch to get to!

"C'mon Izu-kun! Food time!" she exclaimed with a hop in her step. She could perhaps attribute it to the ADHD or maybe it was just a personality quirk, but it was always easy for her to bounce back from a minor setback. She didn't dwell on it for too long before letting something more exciting take precedence in her mind.

And this time, it was food.

Izuku chuckled as Mina grabbed his wrist, standing up indulgently and waving at his friends. "We'll save you all a seat," he said before he was yanked fully out the door. Two years of Hero Training certainly gave Mina the extra oomph she was looking for in her strength, that was for sure.

They grabbed trays and got in the ridiculously long line for Lunch Rush's cooking, Mina shifting the grip from his wrist to interlocking their hands. Izuku squeezed softly with a small smile her direction, his face that adorable shade of pure crimson that it always settles on with any public display of affection.

"So... any hints?" Mina asked none-too-subtly. Izuku shook his head, still maintaining his smile.

"Nope. Just wear something that's easy to walk around in, so none of that fancy stuff," he replied. Mina rolled her eyes.

"You sure you're not doing this as an excuse to wear more of that abomination you call fashion?"

"I'll have you know my 't-shirt' shirts are chic! You're just old fashioned."

"Old fashioned?! You dare? I don't see you complaining about my jean shorts!"

Was it just her, or was steam actually coming out of Izuku's ears? He was just too cute!

"Not my fault you're perfect," he grumbled under his breath. Mina grinned and stood on her toes to reach his cheek, planting her lips softly against it. His flushed face was warm against her lips, and she could feel the smile grow under her touch. When she pulled back, he craned his head to face her.

"Geez, you really can't help yourself, can you?" he murmured. "Can't spare a single moment without PDA."

Mina shrugged innocently. "I'm a gal of action," she replied cheekily. Izu chuckled quietly.

"That you are."

It didn't take much longer for them to arrive at the front of the line. Izuku decided on stir fry, while Mina opted for yakitori. They sat down at a circle table and began to dig in, not bothering to wait for their friends to show up. Those idiots could show up whenever they damn well pleased. Not her fault for their slowness.

A comfortable silence fell between the two of them as they ate. Mina wanted to fill the gaps of nothingness with idle chatter, but she knew that Izuku had his own pace for certain things. Speaking while eating was a hard no for him, so she sped through her skewers and waited patiently for him to finish.

Luckily for the pinkette, Izu was a fast eater as well and was promptly finished with his meal only a short few minutes after she was. He sighed contentedly as he set down his bowl, turning to Mina.

The girl reached over and grabbed his hand once more. She liked touching him, sue her. "So how'd it go for you?" she asked curiously. Izuku raised an eyebrow.

"Never thought I'd hear the day you ask about classwork," he teased. Mina rolled her eyes.

"Shut it, you. I ask about tests all the time," she shot back.

"Fair enough, though usually it's over text and not in person. Something about spoiling conversations with boringness?"

"That was one time! And it's not like I'm wrong, am I? It's boring as hell!"

"Oi, don't diss school! If you do it too loud, I'm gonna be the one that's lectured by Iida," he laughed. Mina snorted.

"Okay, I see your point. But for real, though. How'd you do?" she asked.

Izuku hummed thoughtfully. "I think it went fairly well, all things considered. Worst case, I still passed. The essay question was a bit rough, if only for the topic. At least it was subjective," he mused. The pinkette rolled her eyes.

"So in other words, you got either 100% or damn close," she summarized. Izuku chuckled and nodded.

"Yeah, probably. What about you?" he asked. Mina made an exaggerated show of darting her eyes around and scratching the back of her head nervously in a clear sign of guilt. If only she could spontaneously sweat.

Oh wait, she could. And she did. Great use of acid, Ashido. Quirk laws could go suck a fat one.

"I, uh, may have kinda sorta bombed the entire thing," she muttered. Then she turned back to the green bean with a blinding smile. "But it's okay, since I'm well above passing this semester so far because of your help! So it's actually no biggie this time!"

Izuku chuckled and untangled their hands, lifting his own to scratch her head by her horns. Mina leaned in with a muffled moan. Her horns were sensitive, and he knew exactly where to pet. "This isn't a reward for doing poorly, by the way. Punishment will come later with your very own remedials, designed by moi. But today isn't the day I'm willing to be mad at anything, so you get a pass for now," he explained softly in her ear. Mina shuddered at the feel of his breath tickling her ear and neck, leaning in even further. It was intoxicating-

"Hey bros! Finally made it!" Kirishima's voice pierced through the white noise of the busy cafeteria. Izuku pulled back quickly and straightened up, trying to look unphased by what he was just doing. Mina let out a quiet whimper and grabbed his hand again, longing for contact.

"Hey Kiri," Izuku said with only the faintest hint of a blush still on his face. Mina's own cheeks were still stained lilac, but it was less out of embarrassment and more out of desire.

Okay, maybe there was good reason to stop while they were ahead. The school lunch room was definitely not the place she should be thinking the thoughts running through her mind. And Izuku probably didn't even know what he was doing to her. Damn the smooth bastard. She definitely needed to take a deep breath and refocus. It was for the best.

Still, she had to resist the urge to drop kick her old friend for such a betrayal.

After classes, Mina immediately rushed back to the dorms. Luckily, today there was no Practical Heroics, so she wouldn't feel like lead on her date. She quickly snatched a basic outfit from her wardrobe and grabbed her towel, heading to the communal baths. Their date was in two hours, so by her estimate Mina had very little time to waste.

Soaking in the bath for half an hour was most certainly not the plan.

"Panic! Panic!" she exclaimed to herself as she toweled herself off as fast as she could. With frizzy, wet hair and a damp shirt from not fully drying herself, Mina flew down the hall to her bedroom. Luckily, this was just a temporary outfit. Unluckily, Jirou lived on the same floor as her. The punk rocker poked her head out of her room and glanced at the flailing girl.

"Uh, you good?" the purplette asked. Mina turned wildly to her dorm-mate, her eyes wide.

"No time! My hair's a mess and I haven't even figured out my outfit for tonight!" she yelped helplessly. Jirou rolled her eyes.

"Didn't your man say that anything works?" the girl asked. Mina pouted.

"He can hardly be considered the paragon of fashion, though. I need to knock his socks off, casual or not! This is a date, dammit! Not some random get-together at a local cafe!" the pinkette said with a clenched fist. Jirou slowly turtled her neck back into her room.

"Um... okay then. I'll just leave you to it, I guess," she said, quietly shutting the door. Mina promptly put the encounter out of her mind as she swung her own door open, revealing the sanctuary she called her bedroom.

Outfits stacked up on her bed, makeup drawers were cleaned out, and ribbons were strewn all across the floor. Mina had very little time, and very many looks to try. It was time to get cracking.

In classic Mina fashion, she literally leapt out of the elevator, deciding that walking was too easy or something. It was hard to contain her excitement for today's outing. The two of them had gone on dates together before, sure, but it was very rarely a whole ordeal like tonight was promising to be. After all, they were both so busy, not to mention leaving the dorms required Aizawa's approval.

Sometimes it felt like the disheveled man used a magic 8 ball toy to decide whether or not to give permission for things. But hey, at least this time they were allowed, so it was no biggie! She wasn't salty about her last three requests being denied at all! Nope!

Turning her focus back to the date to distract from her sudden yet understandable irritation, the pinkette began to smile. Her adorably freckled boyfriend had been keeping his plans very hush-hush for the entire time, though, so Mina was itching to get out and see what they were going to be doing.

Skipping out the common room and through the front door, Mina finally spotted her green bean. He had his phone in his hand, glancing at the time every few seconds with stiff shoulders and a rigid back. He was clearly nervous, which Mina honestly couldn't fault him for. Both of them had been hyping up the night for quite a while now, so he probably wanted everything to be perfect.

The pinkette dragged her gaze along Izuku's figure, taking in his attire. He was wearing a maroon V-neck shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows, tucked into a pair of faded blue jeans with patched knees. He swapped his usual red high-tops with a pair of tan boots that honestly looked really comfortable. His hair looked freshly brushed, but there was little to be done to actually style such a curly bush of hair. Mina grinned at the sight of the rimless glasses Izuku was wearing. She loved seeing him without his contacts. There was something about it that gave the innocent look he usually had going for him an air of sophistication.

Mina jogged over, waving happily. "Found ya, cutie!" she called out, alerting Izuku to her presence. The greenette turned with a smile and waved back happily, slipping the phone into his back pocket.

"Hi Min...a..." he trailed off. How cute, he short-circuited.

For context, Mina decided on a halter top and skirt. High socks and black flats finished off the bottom of the ensemble, and for fun she added a cute green ribbon on each of her horns to top off the look. Makeup was sparse, mostly just a bit of a blush and eye liner (I dunno makeup so that's all we got (and I also know nothing of fashion so I'mma pretend like what I wrote wasn't complete bs and you will too)). In her professional opinion, she looked damn good.

The girl danced over to Izuku and gently put her finger under his chin, pushing it shut. "Don't wanna catch any flies, now, do we?" she teased. Izuku nodded dumbly. "So what's the plan sweet cheeks? Or am I gonna be drip-fed your secret scheme?"

That got a smile on Izuku's face. He huffed amusedly and reached out, taking hold of her hand. Mina smiled at how forward he was. "Why spoil the fun now? You'll know when you know," he teased right back. Mina groaned and rolled her eyes exaggeratedly.

"Fine~. I guess I'll wait, meanie."

It took a surprisingly long time for Mina to give in to her curiosity. She glanced around curiously at the unfamiliar buildings on the sparsely populated street. "I don't think I've ever been here before. Which is strange, since I feel like I've explored a decent bit of Musutafu at this point," she mused. Izuku smiled.

"That's because this is a local haunt. This street in particular is home to most of the nearby neighborhoods' family-owned or small-time businesses. A good place to support your neighbors while having a good time, I guess," he said. Mina smiled.

"Do you come here often?"

"I used to. There was this really good book store that shut down after our first year. I think the family moved out of Japan," Izuku replied. Mina nodded along.

They spent the next few minutes simply walking, Izuku pointing out places he used to frequent. Mina gazed fondly at the boy, watching as he relived some of the better parts of his childhood. He wasn't a very well-liked child, she knew, and she was honored that he felt close enough with her to share what sounded like one of his few escapes from his life.

"-And that pawn shop over there, believe it or not, is where I got my first piece of All Might merch. It wasn't anything fancy, but..." he paused, glancing over at Mina. At some point, she stopped turning to look at the different sights, content with watching Izuku's face as he reminisced. He was just so relaxed now, so comfortable with her that he felt it okay to drop his perpetual guard. His smile was smaller than the one he usually put on for heroics, but no less genuine. In fact, this one was a smile that she loved oh so much.

"What is it, Mina? Do I have something on my face?" he asked, patting around his cheeks to try and feel for something that wasn't there. Mina shook her head.

"It's not that. I... I'm so proud of you, Zu. You always have so much to say, it's a shame that some people don't listen. I'm glad you allow yourself to talk to me like this," she said softly, lifting a hand to cup his cheek. Izuku blushed but smiled.

"I have you to credit for that. I didn't think someone would like listening to me, even with topics they might not understand or like. So, thanks. For listening."

"Of course, sweet. Now what were you saying about the pawn shop?" she asked. Izuku shook his head.

"I was talking about my first All Might collectible, but that's not important. Look over there," he said, pointing a little further down the road. Mina tilted her head instinctually, as though that could give her a better angle to read a sign that was parallel to the sidewalk they were on. Despite the harsh angle and the fruitless leaning, she managed to make out the word Sushi.

"You mean the kaiten-sushi place?" she asked. Izuku nodded rapidly.

"Yep! Our first destination! Sushi! To be honest, I've never been here since my mom's not a huge fan of sushi and we were content with making our own meals, so I've always wanted to try it," he admitted. Mina smiled and sped up, now pulling Izuku along. He laughed and started jogging to keep up with her long strides.

"Well, let's go then! I love sushi!" she exclaimed, flinging the door open and dragging Izuku inside. He kept laughing, shaking his head at her dramatics.

"Oh my gosh, that was unbelievable! I can't believe that was just a sushi bar, it tasted gourmet!" Mina gushed, patting her belly as they walked. Izuku nodded frantically beside her.

"I had absolutely no clue that my neighbors were such good chefs. Maybe I should've taken advantage of it sooner..." he trailed off. The pink teen laughed loudly at that.

"As if! Don't try to fool me, I've had your cooking."

"You told me, verbatim, 'your sushi can be classified as a war crime'," Izuku pointed out. Mina rolled her eyes.

"In my defense, you decided to bind the rice with wasabi. And you forgot to buy seaweed and swapped it with lettuce."

"And? It tasted okay!"

"That's because you burnt your taste buds on Bakugou's spicy curry beforehand and couldn't actually taste anything."

"Okay, I guess you have a point." Izuku paused and blinked in confusion. "Wait, why am I arguing about this? It's proving my point."

Mina shrugged.

"So where to next, oh mighty planner?" she asked curiously. Izuku tapped his chin in thought.

"Well, my initial plan was the arcade to burn off some of the calories, but if you want there's also the option of a rock climbing gym or a karaoke bar," he admitted. Mina hummed.

"Usually I'm all for karaoke, but I feel like the dark rooms would make me sleepy. Especially after that meal. Maybe the arcade?" she asked. Izuku nodded and grabbed her hand once more, guiding her along. It was just around the corner so he didn't really need to drag her along, but Mina's incessant push for PDA got him used to and eventually yearning her touch.

"You're gonna love it! This place has everything, I swear. Classics like Space Invader from like 300 years ago all the way up to the latest Villain Brawler beat-em-up that came out a couple decades ago," he said excitedly. Mina started to bounce on her toes in anticipation.

"Oh man, I can't wait! The classics aren't available at the one I used to frequent. Does this arcade have any of those two player shooter machines?" she asked. Izuku nodded with a grin.

"Yep. Kacch- ah, Bakugou and I used to have the records on all the co-op machines, but it's probably been eight years since we've tried so who knows where the records stand," he admitted. Mina grinned.

"What say you we go out and get some records, then?" Izuku matched her manic smile with one of his own.

"I say let's do it."

When the two arrived back at the dorms, the sun was well beyond the horizon. Izuku was fairly silent ever since a few minutes after they left the arcade, seemingly lost in thought about something. He kept staring at the sky, gazing aimlessly at the stars as they walked. In fact, he barely even noticed when they stopped in front of the gate to scan themselves back in.

"Hey spaceman, I get the appeal of the stars, but isn't this where you're supposed to kiss me goodnight or something?" she asked in a light tone. The girl wasn't mad in the slightest. She knew exactly how quickly Izuku's mind moved at nearly every waking hour, so she knew to expect something like this to happen.

Izuku blushed and snapped his attention back onto her. "K-K-Kiss goodnight?" he stammered, looking lost for a moment. Now that, Mina thought, was confusing. They'd kissed before, and it most certainly didn't warrant that kind of response. She raised a delicate eyebrow, and his eyes lit up in understanding. "Oh! N-No, I've got one more thing left for tonight. Sorry, forgot I didn't actually tell you my plans. If I did, then it would ruin the surprise, but then again maybe I should've given a heads up about this one since she'srightandusuallyadatewouldendhereandnowI'vemadeitawkwardbydelayingitevenif-"

Mina stepped in front of the boy and clapped her hands onto his shoulders. His eyes snapped into focus and stared right back at her questioningly. "Izu-kun. Nothing is wrong. I was just curious, that's all," she said simply. Izuku let out a breath and nodded, tension slipping away like it was never there. "Now, what was that about another item on the agenda?"

Izuku's eyes brightened. "Right! Ah, actually, spaceman is pretty fitting. How comfortable are you with flying?" he asked. Mina's jaw dropped.

"We're going flying?" she asked incredulously. Izuku gave her a shaky smile.

"Ah, kinda? Mostly just to get to the roof, but I can take you flying some other time," he said apologetically. The pinkette grinned.

"Sounds like a date, loverboy. Now, c'mon! Giddy-up!" she exclaimed, twirling around to his back and leaping onto him, latching on with a vice grip. Izuku chuckled and began to float, slowly ascending. "Ooh, it's so smooth! Why haven't you taken me flying before? This is incredible!"

Due to her being firmly attached to his back, Mina could feel every single perfectly-sculpted muscle that worked to shrug nonchalantly at her question. "Dunno, I just don't really fly I guess? Never had any need to, after... uh, yeah," he stammered, avoiding the thought of the League of Villains. That whole can of worms was a complete shit show that placed Hero Student Deku in the dead center of it without a single second of reprieve for months. Mina was all too happy to avoid the topic.

"Still, this is amazing! I'm definitely taking you out for a spin sometime," she said in a joking tone, despite being completely serious. Izuku choked out a startled laugh, which Mina took as a job well done.

"Uh, sure."

They landed slowly, touching down onto the cement with surprising grace. Izuku crouched down and allowed Mina to hop off his back before turning to her. "I gotta grab a blanket or two, be right back," he said, kissing her cheek and hopping off the building. Mina rolled her eyes, glancing at the fire escape door that they were standing literally right next to.

"Dramatic, but hot," she decided with a laugh.

Barely a few minutes later, Izuku flew right back up to the roof at a far faster speed than he did with her on his back. Mina pouted at the display, almost wishing he did earlier.

"Mou, why didn't you ruffle my feathers like that when we were flying?" she asked with a sultry pout. Izuku choked and stumbled at her wording, dropping the blankets and pillows he brought with him.

"M-Mina!" he yelped as she laughed. "In all seriousness, though, I didn't want to test any limits just yet. I've never flown fast with people before, and I didn't want to, I don't know, give you whiplash or something."

Mina smiled sweetly at his words. "That's considerate of you. Okay, I've decided I forgive you!" she announced. Izuku chuckled, his blush receding.

"Thank you for that," he said earnestly if not theatrically. Mina bowed.

They worked together to set up a little area to watch the stars comfortably. There were two pillows and two blankets, but they ended up folding and stacking the blankets to turn it into a pseudo futon instead of a picnic blanket. Of course, Mina was denied the opportunity to cuddle with Izu the way she wanted to since they were stargazing and laying sideways would most assuredly screw up her neck in ways she didn't want to think about, so they settled for laying next to each other, legs touching and hands intertwined.

"You know, I didn't really expect this to be what you had in mind when you said one more activity and went to grab blankets," she said with a teasing lilt, still gazing at the sky. Izuku twitched and she laughed.

"W-Well, to be honest, watching the stars helps calm me down," he admitted. "It's not exactly the whole reason we came up here."

Mina turned to her side and propped herself up, gazing curiously at a bright red Izuku.

"Oh? Do tell," she whispered, leaning forward eagerly. Izuku sat up and turned to face her.

"I didn't want to lose my nerve, or really have anyone overhearing. So, uh, roof," he said, gesturing to the open space around him. Mina grinned at his awkward explanation.

"Okay? Where are you going with this?" she asked. Izuku was a man that sometimes needed to be spurred into action, and she was a master with her words. "Another surprise for little ole' me?" Mina fluttered her eyelashes. Okay, maybe not a master of words per se, but definitely a motivator.

Izuku's face somehow managed to redden even more, despite his full-body blush. He leaned to the side for easier access to his pocket, reaching in and pulling out a wrapped box.

Mina bit her lip. It looked a bit too large to be a ring. She sincerely hoped that was the case. She wasn't ready to promise herself to him, despite her overwhelming feelings for the boy. They were only in high school!

Izuku took a deep breath. "I don't know if you've been counting, but today is our six month anniversary. I-I'm not usually one to put much stock into half-milestones or anything like that, b-but I figured I'd do something special for this one," he said. With slightly shaky hands that were most certainly a little clammy, he held out the wrapped box for Mina to take.

Okay, if this was a wedding ring or promise ring she'd definitely need to talk with him about proper procedure. One does not simply hand off jewelry like so. Either way, she slowly grabbed the box and began to tear the wrapping paper apprehensively. It was strange, being given a gift and almost being scared of it.

Soon enough, the paper was off and she could no longer delay the inevitable. With her own hands beginning to shake a little, Mina lifted the lid and-

Handcuffs?

Izuku was quick to jump in with an explanation. "Th-They're Quirk Suppressing cuffs! I know we've talked about it be-before, how your Quirk can be hard to control with heightened emotions. A-And, uh, your b-bondage k-k-kink. These show I-I... I know I can be slow-going in our relationship, but these are my promise to you that I'm okay with m-moving more at your pace." Izuku paused, then backpedaled. "Uh, n-not that you should be pressured to do anything! I made you wait for half a year, you should be allowed to make a decision too! And, um, I also got a bracelet in case you didn't want to use the cuffs. I mean, if you want to! Not that you need to or anything! Or, ah-"

Mina set the box down and yanked Izuku into a searing kiss. Her arms wrapped around his neck as she leaned into his tender embrace, his arms encircling her waist and pulling her ever closer. Their lips moved in tandem, slowly parting to allow tongue to slip through. Mina could feel Izuku gently lick her teeth before wrestling with her own tongue, deepening the kiss. It was wild, it was passionate, and it was amazing.

Eventually, when oxygen was low, they had to pull away. Mina panted with a beautiful smile, staring deep into Izuku's eyes.

"That is the sweetest, kinkiest thing you've ever done for me. Thank you so much, Izu-kun."

Izuku smiled warmly and grabbed both of her hands, returning her gaze with a steadiness and strength that usually only came about when he was Heroing.

"Anything for you, Mina. You're worth it."

That thing before about not being ready to promise herself to him? Categorically false. Whenever he was ready, she would be there to say yes.

Notes:

Here it is! It was a blast trying to do a character study on these two. The small appearances from other characters was also surprisingly difficult, because it's easy to fall into the trap of just going "Kirishima says 'manly' and Kaminari is a pervert". I tried to write them how I see the intricacies of their characters despite not having basically any idea what I was doing.
Also, I think I dragged out the first part far too long, especially since this is a MinaDeku fic first and foremost. Whatever, I had a good time.

What do you think? Want me to turn this into a two-shot so that we get to see some steamy R-Rated action? I'm not opposed, but I've also never written something like that before and I don't know if it'll turn out any good. It'll be better than whatever the hell I try and do with action, at least. I hope.

CRITICISM IS WELCOME! Roast me, compliment me, beat my writing over the head with a bat and shatter my dreams, anything you'd like. I won't say I like negativity but if it betters my writing then screw it, I guess. It's just some words online from people I'll never meet. And yes, it'll severely worsen my self esteem but life does that anyway so idk if there's actually a correlation.
