Work Text:

Y/N slowly opened their blurry eyes, adjusting to the dim light. They were in a small dimly lit room with a sofa and two bunk beds, one of which they were currently sat on. They realised that they weren't the only one in the room, lying next to them was their friend Y/F/N.

Y/N could remember nearly nothing of what had happened other than a sense of panic having been grabbed from behind, then the dull ache of a foreign substance wearing off when they woke-up in a strange and unfamiliar environment.

They gently shook their friend awake and explained their strange situation, Y/F/N jolted upright and frantically scanned the room, they got off the bed and began looking around for any ways out. Suddenly, there was the soft click of a door opening and Y/F/N quickly sat back down on the bunk, both Y/N and Y/F/N anxiously anticipating who it might be.

An animatronic hand curled its way around the door and began to push it open, once the door was opened in its entirety they could finally see the figure which had just stepped into the room. It was not a person. Not human. It had a shadowy blue hue to its body, the top half of which looked like a sort of metallic cartoon rabbit, round eyes and curvy facial features, along with a comically rounded torso. However, the lower half was very different, it had four sharp talon-like legs jutting outwards, with a much sharper silhouette than its upper half. It was almost a vague mix between a rabbit and a four legged spider.

It looked directly at the two who were now cowering on the bunk bed, or at least as directly as one can look if you have no eyes, just empty sockets. It slowly made its way over and snatched Y/F/N off the bed before dragging them off and slamming the door closed behind them. All the while Y/F/N had kicked and struggled with all their might, but to no avail.

A few minutes later the creature came back in again still dragging Y/F/N behind them, however this time Y/F/N remained deathly still. No longer flailing about as they had done before. It was unsettling considering they would normally squeal and flail at even the slightest scare.

That's when Y/N realised. They were dead.

The robot thing had laid out Y/F/N's corpse on the bed, letting it droop with its arm dangling loosely over the edge. Lifeless eyes staring upwards, now glossy and empty of the fight that had been in them not 5 minutes ago.

The robot thing used it's rounded fingers to tear off a part of Y/F/N's corpse and extended the blood soaked hand towards Y/N. Y/N reached out a shaking hand in response and allowed the robot to place a chunk of poor Y/F/N's flesh into their much smaller palm.

The robot had then used that same hand to take another fistfull of flesh from the corpse. Raising its now bright red, bloodied hand up to what looked like its mouth it took a bite. IT ATE IT! It just ate it like you would eat a handful of crisps or popcorn, just casually tossed into its creepy unhinged jaw.

It then turned to face Y/N looking at them, expectedly.

What.?

Did it genuinely just expect them to EAT their friend.?

Madness.

Absolute madness.

Fearing a fate similar to Y/F/N's, Y/N slowly, fearfully brought a shaking hand up to their mouth. Using one hand to pinch their nose they carefully put the flesh in their mouth.

Sweetness?

It was strange.

They carefully moved their jaw as to chew as little as possible to get it over with, the bits of tendon and organ linings were getting stuck in their teeth and the soft squishiness of raw flesh was strange, to say the least.

They could feel the warm gush of metallic blood flow down their throat with each time their teeth squeezed more out of the large lump of flesh. They remembered that the warmth in their mouth would have been the warmth of Y/F/N sitting right beside them not 5 minutes ago.

They could taste it-as the spark that was once life, dwindled into nothing when the once ruby red began to congeal and cool into something lukewarm and the taste became ever so slightly more bitter.

Y/F/N was gone.

All that was left was this now dwindling pile of flesh, as both Y/N and the robot were now savagely tearing apart and consuming the remains.

What was wrong with them!!?

They shouldn't be enjoying it so MUCH!

But they couldn't stop themselves, they were trapped in an addiction they may never conquer.

…

Eventually there was nothing left and all they could say was:

"Who are you?"

"I am Shadow Bonnie." it replied.

"Why did you bring us here?"

"I www…wantted aa friend." The robot had a deep voice, but when it had said that Y/N could hear its voice glitch into what sounded almost like a child.

It was small and almost hopeful but there was a strained, almost strangled sound to it.

It sounded lost and in pain.

It was heart wrenching.

As it said that last word it had completely morphed its tone so that it sounded like the child throughout the whole word, before there was a fizzing sound. Then it carefully reached out using one of its sharp legs just grazing your cheek, a warm droplet of blood rolled down your cheek and you realised it had accidentally cut you.

The robot, realising it had injured you it looked almost embarrassed and it quickly scuttled out the door again.

They were alone in the room again.

Standing up they made their way toward the small sofa in the corner of the room. Plopping down on the sofa they let their mind catch up with all the events of the past few minutes, hours, days?

They had been kidnapped, met a strange robot/monster thing and had EATEN their best friend. EATEN them. As in flesh in mouth, teeth go chompy, nom-nomed them. WTF.

But there was not much time to ponder because from a small vent in the ceiling a thin wire snaked down to land on top of the other bunk bed, followed by another and another before soon there was a large heap of variously sized wires on top of the bunk.

Wriggling and writhing they slowly began to take a sort of humanoid shape, from somewhere in amongst the wires came a button which made its way onto what looked like a sort of chest to make what looked a bit like a bow. Then came four pieces of what looked like a clown mask along with a small party hat which came together to give it a sort of face.

The clown mask spun round like an owl and looked at something on the bunk, it then slowly turned around using its wires instead of its legs to turn itself around so that its body and face were facing the same direction. Away from Y/N.

It bent down and picked a man off the bed who looked as if he was a corpse, the only reason you could tell he was alive was the soft rise and fall of his chest.

The robot then went from the top of the bunk onto the floor, completely ignoring the ladder not 30cm away using its wires again to drift towards the ground.

It then placed the man in its arms onto the bed gently before spinning its head around and taking notice of the other presence in the room.

It looked…sad?

Its faceplates sagged in a way that looked like it did not have the energy to hold them up.

"Are you ok, you look sad." Y/N commented.

"What is sad?" It replied, its voice crackled just like the other robot but this time it sounded almost as if there was an unharmonious chorus hidden in its voice.

You stood there stunned by the question he had just asked. As inhuman as it sounds and looks, the way its silicone face was lit up by curiosity and the way its plastic eyes shone with what looked like life, could fool anyone.

“Sad? Well, it's an emotion that you feel, like when bad things happen or sometimes you feel sad when other people are sad.” You said, struggling to find the right words to describe something that seemed so simple.

“Oh” it muttered, static crackling gently with its deflated tone. “Is that what it's like to be human?”

“Yes I suppose” you replied thoughtfully.

“Then being human sounds gross”

You laughed at his playful tone, almost hearing the soul that this creature could have.

The door creaked open behind you, spinning round you caught a glimpse of the animatronic thing from earlier before it suddenly became a person. Gone was the navy hue and the silver talons, in their place was an expanse of mushy skin and navy hair.

Frozen to the spot you couldn't help but gawk at what crazy things had just transpired. Suddenly the room lurched. Your vision began to swim and just before you hit the floor the wiry creature behind you lunged to your rescue.

Drenched in sweat, chest heaving, you slowly awake to reality and try to calm yourself, realising just how crazy your nighttime brain activity had become.

Dragging yourself to the bathroom you began your routine, toilet, teeth, washing your face and …oh.

Staring at yourself in the mirror in horror you gently trace the spot on your cheek that had grabbed your attention. A thin red line had now scabbed over just under your left eye…

What if it wasn't a dream?
