Chapter 1

Moving Out

Doyoung watched the clock tick by, each passing second feeling like an eternity as he scrolled through his phone, waiting for a text from Taeyong. But as the hours dragged on, his heart grew heavier with each unanswered message.

Taeyong was away in the United States with SuperM, their schedules packed with interviews, performances, and rehearsals. Doyoung understood the demands of Taeyong's profession as an idol, but that didn't ease the ache of loneliness that settled in his chest.

The jealousy crept in slowly, like a dark shadow casting over his thoughts. He couldn't help but feel envious of the fans who got to see Taeyong's smile up close, who got to witness his charisma on stage. Doyoung longed to be by his side, to hold his hand and share in those moments of triumph.

But instead, he was thousands of miles away in Korea, feeling insignificant compared to the bright lights of the American stage. He tried to distract himself with work, throwing himself into practice sessions and meetings, but Taeyong was always there at the back of his mind.

It wasn't just the distance that gnawed at Doyoung's heart; it was the thought of Taeyong surrounded by adoring fans and dazzling lights, with no time to spare a thought for him. He knew it was irrational, that Taeyong loved him just as fiercely as he did, but jealousy had a way of clouding reason.

One evening, as Doyoung sat alone in his apartment, the weight of his emotions became too much to bear. He couldn't shake the feeling of insecurity that had taken hold of him, nor the fear that perhaps Taeyong was growing distant.

With trembling fingers, he dialed Taeyong's number, his heart pounding in his chest with each ring. When Taeyong finally picked up, his voice was warm and reassuring, but Doyoung couldn't help but detect a hint of exhaustion beneath the surface.

"Doyoung-ah, is everything okay?" Taeyong asked, concern lacing his words.

Doyoung swallowed hard, trying to find the courage to voice his fears. "I miss you," he finally admitted, the words spilling out in a rush. "I miss you so much, Taeyong."

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line, and Doyoung feared he had said too much, that he had pushed Taeyong away with his neediness. But then he heard Taeyong's soft sigh, filled with understanding and empathy.

"I miss you too, Doyoungie," Taeyong confessed, his voice gentle and reassuring. "More than you'll ever know."

As they talked into the night, the distance between them seemed to shrink, replaced by the warmth of their shared laughter and the sweetness of their whispered confessions.

In the end, Doyoung realized that it wasn't the bright lights or the adoring fans that mattered most; it was the quiet moments shared between them, the simple joys of being together, even when they were apart. And as he drifted off to sleep that night, he knew that no amount of distance could ever dim the love he felt for Taeyong, or the love Taeyong felt for him.

Doyoung's heart fluttered with nervous excitement as he carefully placed the sleek red Cartier box on the coffee table in Dorm’s living room. He glanced at the clock for what felt like the hundredth time that evening, counting down the minutes until Taeyong's return from the United States.

It had been a whirlwind of emotions since their late-night conversation, with Doyoung's heart still aching from the distance between them. But amidst the longing and the jealousy, a spark of inspiration had ignited within him—a desire to show Taeyong just how much he meant to him, even from thousands of miles away.

And so, with determination in his heart, Doyoung had set out to find the perfect symbol of their love—a pair of matching Cartier rings, just like the ones Taeyong had mentioned wanting to have together someday.

As he waited anxiously for Taeyong's return, Doyoung couldn't help but feel a flutter of doubt in his chest. What if Taeyong didn't like the rings? What if he thought it was too soon, or too extravagant?

But then he pushed aside his worries, focusing instead on the love that had driven him to this moment—the love that had carried them through the highs and lows of their relationship, the love that had blossomed even in the face of distance and uncertainty.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Doyoung heard the sound of the front door opening, followed by the familiar shuffle of footsteps in the hallway. His heart leaped into his throat as he rose to his feet, anticipation coursing through his veins.

And then, as Taeyong stepped into the room, his eyes widened in surprise at the sight before him—the dimly lit room, the flickering candles casting shadows on the walls, and the small red box nestled in the center of the coffee table.

"Doyoung-ah, what's all this?" Taeyong asked, his voice filled with wonder as he took in the scene before him.

Doyoung felt a rush of nervous energy as he crossed the room to stand before Taeyong, taking his hand in his own. "I wanted to do something special for you," he confessed, his voice barely above a whisper. "To show you how much you mean to me, even when we're miles apart."

With trembling fingers, Doyoung opened the Cartier box, revealing the pair of matching rings nestled inside—a simple yet elegant symbol of their love and commitment to one another.

Taeyong's breath caught in his throat as he gazed down at the rings, his eyes shining with unshed tears. "Doyoungie…" he murmured, his voice choked with emotion.

Doyoung felt his own eyes welling up with tears as he took one of the rings from the box, sliding it onto Taeyong's finger with trembling hands. "I love you, Taeyong," he whispered, his voice filled with sincerity. "With all my heart."

And as Taeyong slipped the matching ring onto Doyoung's fingers “I thought you didn’t want one” he wondered as their hands coming together in a tender embrace.

As Doyoung visited his parents in his hometown, Taeyong found himself alone in the dorm, the absence of his beloved weighing heavily on his heart. With a sigh, he decided to distract himself by connecting with fans through a VLive broadcast.

As Taeyong engaged with his fans during the VLive broadcast, his phone suddenly buzzed with an incoming call. Surprised, he glanced at the screen and saw Doyoung's name flashing across it. With a grin, he quickly accepted the call, holding the phone up to the camera for all his viewers to see.

"Doyoungie!" Taeyong exclaimed, his face lighting up with joy as he greeted his boyfriend. "I'm live right now, say hi to everyone!"

Doyoung's voice filled the room, a warm smile evident in his tone. "Hi, everyone!" he said, his voice carrying over the speaker of Taeyong's phone. "I hope you're all having a great time with Taeyong."

The fans responded with a chorus of greetings and cheers, their enthusiasm warming Doyoung's heart. He cleared his throat, mustering up the courage to ask the question that had been on his mind.

"Did you tell fans that we bought matching rings?" Doyoung asked, his voice soft and tentative.

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line, and Doyoung's heart raced with anticipation as he waited for Taeyong's response.

"No, not yet” Taeyong shyly answered.

“Tell them that I bought the ring for you”

“Now? What are you doing?” Taeyong trying to change the topic as he noticed some fans are getting excited in the comment section and They bid goodbyes.

“Well, ahmm Well Buying the matching friendship rings. Friendship rings. We’ve been known for long and we’ll stay friends for long. I thought it’d be nice to have something to stand for our friendship. Then , Doyoung-ah was so cool, so cool. He gave his own credit card to buy the rings. Awesome huh legend Doyoung . He’s the coolest person, Rich guy The one with big heart”

With that, Taeyong reached for the small red box that held the matching Cartier rings, his heart swelling with affection as he thought of Doyoung. As he revealed the rings to his eager fans, And the broadcast came to an end

Few months Later

Excitement rippled through the air as the members of NCT127 gathered in their dorm, the anticipation for their upcoming comeback palpable. But amidst the buzz of activity, a hush fell over the room as an unexpected announcement echoed through the halls — they were given the green light to move out of their dorms and into their own apartments—a sign of their growing independence and success in the industry.

For Doyoung, the news was met with a mixture of anticipation and nervousness. While he cherished the camaraderie of living with his fellow members, he couldn't help but dream of a place he could call his own—a sanctuary where he could build a future with Taeyong.

With determination in his heart, Doyoung set out to find the perfect apartment, keeping Taeyong's preferences in mind every step of the way. He scoured listings and toured countless properties, searching for a place that would capture their hearts.

And then, one day, he stumbled upon it—a cozy apartment overlooking the tranquil waters of the Han River, with floor-to-ceiling windows that flooded the space with natural light. It was spacious yet intimate, with a modern aesthetic that Doyoung knew Taeyong would love.

Excitement bubbled up inside him as he imagined the life they could build together in this place—a life filled with lazy mornings sipping coffee by the window, and quiet evenings curled up on the couch, watching the city lights dance across the water.

With a sense of determination, Doyoung signed the lease and set about furnishing their new home, pouring his heart and soul into every detail. He wanted it to be perfect for Taeyong, a reflection of the love and devotion he felt for him.

As the excitement of finding the perfect apartment settled in, Doyoung found himself consumed by the whirlwind of preparations. Days turned into nights as he poured over paint swatches, furniture catalogs, and endless lists of household essentials.

Caught up in the frenzy of moving and decorating, Doyoung became increasingly distant from Taeyong, his mind preoccupied with the endless tasks that lay before him. He missed their late-night conversations and the simple moments of togetherness that had once filled their days.

Taeyong, sensing the shift in Doyoung's demeanor, tried to be understanding, giving him space to focus on whatever he was doing. But as the days passed, he couldn't shake the feeling of loneliness that settled in his chest, a silent ache that seemed to grow with each passing moment.

One evening, as Doyoung sat hunched over his laptop, scrolling through endless furniture options, he felt a soft hand on his shoulder, causing him to startle in surprise. Looking up, he found Taeyong standing before him, his eyes filled with concern.

"Doyoungie, are you okay?" Taeyong asked, his voice gentle and filled with worry.

Doyoung forced a smile, trying to push aside the exhaustion that weighed heavily on his shoulders. "I'm fine, Taeyongie," he replied, his voice strained.

Taeyong's voice cut through the tense silence that hung between them, his words heavy with uncertainty. "Doyoungie, I need to ask you something."

Doyoung felt a knot form in his stomach as he looked up at Taeyong, his heart sinking at the sadness he saw reflected in his eyes. "What is it, Taeyong?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"I couldn't help but notice that you've been distant lately," Taeyong began, his tone gentle but laced with concern. "And I've noticed you sneaking out late at night, without telling me where you're going. Are...are you seeing someone else?"

Doyoung felt a pang of guilt wash over him at Taeyong's words, the weight of his suspicions hitting him like a ton of bricks. He had been so caught up in the chaos of preparing for their new apartment that he hadn't realized the toll it was taking on their relationship—the late nights spent scouring listings, the constant phone calls with real estate agents, the endless stream of errands that seemed to never end.

But now, faced with Taeyong's heartfelt question, Doyoung knew he couldn't hide the truth any longer. Taking a deep breath, his heart heavy with remorse.

"Taeyongie," Doyoung said softly, his voice tinged with determination. "I need to show you something."

Taeyong raised an eyebrow, curiosity mingling with the uncertainty in his gaze. "What is it, Doyoung?" he asked, his voice cautious.

"It's a surprise," Doyoung replied, a hint of mischief dancing in his eyes. "But I promise it'll explain everything."

Without waiting for a response, Doyoung took Taeyong's hand in his own and led him out to the car, a sense of excitement building in his chest. He had been planning this surprise for weeks, wanting to make Taeyong's birthday truly unforgettable.

As they drove through the city streets, Taeyong's curiosity grew with each passing moment, his questions coming in a rapid flurry. But Doyoung remained tight-lipped, a playful smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

Finally, they arrived at their destination—a sleek apartment building overlooking the tranquil waters of the Han River, bathed in the soft glow of twilight. Doyoung could feel Taeyong's confusion mounting as they stepped out of the car, his eyes darting around in search of answers.

"Doyoungie, what are we doing here?" Taeyong asked, his voice filled with bewilderment.

Doyoung grinned, unable to contain his excitement any longer. "It's your birthday surprise," he exclaimed, his voice filled with enthusiasm. "I wanted to show you our new apartment!"

Realization dawned on Taeyong's face as he took in the sight before him, his eyes widening in astonishment. "Our...our new apartment?" he repeated, his voice barely above a whisper.

Doyoung nodded eagerly, his heart swelling with pride as he watched Taeyong's expression shift from confusion to wonder. "I wanted to do something special for you, Taeyongie," he explained, his voice filled with sincerity. "And what better gift than a place we can call our own? If you want”

Tears welled up in Taeyong's eyes as he wrapped his arms around Doyoung, pulling him into a tight embrace. "Doyoungie, this is...this is amazing," he whispered, his voice choked with emotion.

“It’s a yes then?” Doyoung asked

“You haven’t ask Idiot!”

Doyoung took a deep breath, summoning all his courage as he spoke. "I know we've talked about having our own space before," he began, his words careful and deliberate. "And I was wondering...if you would like to move in with me?"

A hush fell over them as Doyoung's words hung in the air, the weight of his question echoing in the silence. He held his breath, waiting for Taeyong's response, his heart pounding in his chest.

For a moment, Taeyong said nothing, his eyes searching Doyoung's face as if trying to read the depths of his soul. And then, slowly, a smile spread across his lips, his eyes shining with unshed tears.

"Doyoungie," Taeyong whispered, his voice barely above a whisper. "I would love nothing more than to move in with you."
