Work Text:
You’ve been having nightmares lately.
While nightmares aren’t anything new… the dreams you’ve been having the past few months have been… well brutal to say the least. It’s like you're seeing yourself through another life. Or an alternate universe. From dreaming about how each and everyone of your friends (including your mutant friends) get mutilated and killed by these dog looking things, lasers, these monsters. You can’t forget how ugly and horrifying the sights were. Every dream had people you knew, love, and care for.
Except last week, a new face that you have never seen before appeared. Thinking about it hurts as he was a child born at the wrong time. You saw how the child had to live, living in caves, hopping home to home, the violence he had to endure, the illness that littered around him. That boy's name was Casey jr. In your dreams you both were close, like mother and son close. It was clear the boy looked up to you, the way his eyes glowed when you walked into the room was telling enough. You remember how you would sob as soon as your eyes opened, how you yearned for your boy back (not that he was yours). It made you wonder if this is how your friends felt after those random dreams that had them in lives raising children.
Even so, you tried to block it out. As much as you could you tried to ignore it, him. And it mostly worked. You functioned fine at work, it hadn’t affected your friendship with the turtles, and with your boyfriend Raph had been perfect. He hasn’t noticed your tired expression or how you seemed to loop like a broken record (or well you hope).
And everything was fine.
Until
The nightmares stopped.
Normally, any person would be jumping with joy. But it was the circumstances. You dreamt of your own death, you felt it. This isn’t normal, you know that. You debated on going to splinter about it, just to see if he could help. So that’s why you're on your way to your boyfriend's place, four pizzas stacked in your hands as you wiggle down into the sewers.
Your stomach turns and knots with nausea, this doesn’t feel right. You try to shove every doubt and gut feeling down, down, down, until you feel it in your toes. ‘Everything is going to be fine.’ You told yourself.
With a push you're in the layer and calling for the boys. “Hey boys, I got some delicious pizza-“ And before you can finish you look up to see Raph, Leo, Donnie, Mikey, and April talking to someone.
“Hey y'all! What’s going on?” All eyes turn to you, your stubby self (barely) holding four pizzas and a small smile.
“HECK YEAH PIZ- ow! Donnie!!” Mikey whines when donton jabs him with his elbow. “Later. Right now we have the situation to deal with.” That peaks your interest. “Situation? Donatello, what are you not telling me.” Donnie shifts on his feet and looks at Raph. You had become like a second big sister to Raphs brothers, and you cared for them as if they were your own. So it wasn’t hard to wiggle things out of them.
Your boyfriend rubs his neck and looks at you. “This guy says he’s from the future and is asking for you. So I’m not sure-“ he meekly suggests, but before he can finish you cut him off. “Move.” You prayed that it wasn’t who you think it is, or you hoped you weren’t sure how you were feeling.
They did as you requested and there he was in all his glory. Your boy. A small gasp slipped through your lips. Tears well in your eyes and the pizzas fall to the floor as your hands shoot up to cover your mouth.
Casey’s voice cracks as he tries to speak. “Name…” he takes a sharp breath. “I knew it, I knew you would believe me.” The tears well up more. You gulp.
“Name? You alright?” Raph asks. He’s extremely concerned and confused. Of course he would be. You haven’t told him the constant nightmares, how you saw him die, how you saw all of them die horrible deaths, and how now you have proof that it’s all true. Or how yours and his boy was sitting right in front of the both of you. He hasn’t seen Casey take his first steps, or the first time he called him papa. He doesn’t know how much he cried when he heard the little “papa!” The squeak that made all of the worries of the apocalypse go away.
“Yeahhh, am I missing something here or?” Leo asks, looking between you and your baby boy.
The dam breaks when you hear Casey’s little voice crack and as quiet as a mouse he whispers the word. That magical fucking word.
“Mom..?”
You run up and crash into him and sob. You frantically try to untie him. You Mutter and mumble “my baby” over and over until the rope is ripped off by no other than that of your beautiful boyfriend. You hug Casey as tight as your arms will let you.
“I’ve seen it all. It’s true. You're real.” You cry into him.
“What’s going on?” The orange brother asked clearly confused and more concerned about how this random guy was your kid. “How do you even know him if he’s from the future?” Donnie questioned. You try to wipe your tears as much as you can. Taking a broken breath you begin to explain the nightmares. “I just didn’t realize it was all real. I mean who would?” You laugh pitifully and sniff. “You’ve been having nightmares and you didn’t tell Raph?” Your poor boyfriend looked so hurt. “I’m sorry I didn’t want to bother you and make you worry.” Though you try not to dwell on the disbelief on his face and the hurt.
You pick yourself up from off the floor and hear Raph walking to you. “Ya could never bother me. My hero work could never be more important. You are my everything. So please talk to me next time.” He nuzzles his face into your cheek and gives you a kiss.
“EWW!! Not in front of the kids Raph!!” Leo shouted and covered Mikey’s eyes. “Leo, stop it!” Mikey struggled.
You roll your eyes and grab Casey’s hand. “Come, they have a lot to learn.” You say and Casey just nods.
“Oh, and wait until Raph learns about him being your papa.” You giggle.
“WHAAATTT.” Everyone said in union.
Raphs gaze flickers to Casey’s. “Nice to meet ya kid.” He grins at the smaller boy, his tooth poking out in an adorable fashion.
“Now.” You begun, tone cold and serious.
“You need to get the key back or… we’re doomed.” You say but whisper the end of your sentence.
“Right.” Casey clears his throat and devises a plan with everyone.
“Come to me safe and sound you hear?” You tell both Casey and Raph. Raph smiles and gives you a kiss. And you give Casey a deafening hug.
“It’s nice being able to hug you again… mom.” You kiss his temple and send him on his way. “Me too baby, me too.”
