Work Text:
Sitting meters away from the shoreline, Yuki turns his beach umbrella so that the shadow actually covers his body once more, rather than covering the already hot sand. When he’s satisfied, he returns to his seat on his towel, then looks forward.
There’s a good amount of people on the beach, even this early into the summer season. In their case, it was hot enough and everyone felt up to it, so they decided to visit on a whim.
Past the wading bodies of others, he spots a group in the far distance. Living up to the Summer Troupe title, members of his group swim as enthusiastically as they were when they first went it. An hour must have passed since then. He can barely wrap his head around how they can entertain themselves for so long.
Then, as he counts their heads and notices there was one less than before, he hears him before he sees him, and he feels him before he can speak up.
Arms fresh from the cold ocean wrap around his body. One over his shoulder and the other around his waist.
“It’s cold!” he yelps, pulling and throwing the arm off of him. The person doesn’t try hard to fight back against him, but it’s not like he needed to. Tenma has always been stronger than Yuki. “Stop that, idiot!”
After the initial hit, Tenma settles on sitting as close as possible. Yuki shivers as their shoulders stay touching.
“Why did you get out?” he asks.
“Why don’t you go in?” Tenma retorts. He could say something further, but seeing that look on his face, that stupidly wide smile of his, Yuki crosses his arms and endures it.
“I will later,” he says. “Sumi is getting drinks. I’m waiting for him.”
“Is that so?” When Yuki glances back at Tenma, his face turns from unabashed happiness to genuine curiosity. It always caught him off guard how quickly Tenma’s boyish charm came out. He never has time to prepare his heart for it.
“What?”
“Nothing.” Tenma says, leaning back against his arms. “You’re in a good mood today.”
“Eh?” Yuki turns his head away. It’s already so hot, but he feels his cheeks start to burn. “Then ignore it.”
“You should go in soon.” Tenma says after a short pause. “Your swimsuit would look good in the water.”
Yuki narrows his eyes. What swimsuit? All he’s wearing is shorts and a cover up. When he turns back to Tenma, all he does is continue to stare at him, smiling with a dazed look in his eye.
“You wouldn’t be able to see it underwater.” Tenma’s smile only brightens. Yuki sighs.
“Who’s the one in the good mood?” lying against the towel, Yuki takes Tenma’s hand. He seamlessly responds, their fingers clasping together.
He hears Tenma laugh lightly before leaning forward, taking his lips in his.
When Tenma kisses Yuki, he can feel the salt on the edges of his lips. Yuki shivers again, feeling the wet strands of his hair touching his skin, but he doesn’t let up. As they kiss, Tenma scoots closer, wrapping an arm back around his waist and letting his hand trail across his neck and arms.
Yuki’s lip parts with a gasp as he feels Tenma’s hand catch the edge of his cover up, pulling the sleeve down his shoulder, followed by the other, until it's off his back completely. It’s only when he feels Tenma’s tongue in his mouth does he pull back.
“Hey.” he says, blinking back to reality. “What are you doing?”
“You can swim in that, right?” is all Tenma asks, wiping a hand over his mouth.
“Of course,” Yuki replies, unamused. “Why-”
In one quick motion, Tenma slips his arms under his legs and around his torso, carrying him as he breaks out into a run in a beeline to the water.
“Tenma!” Yuki cries. “You asshole-! Idiot! Hack actor!”
He’s still holding onto him, even as he dunks them both into the water.
