A Season for Sparkles

Summary:

Fanfic for Linnetagain's "The Season"

Hestia and Kamara have a play date, and come up with some cute plans!

Notes:

Work Text:

“KAMARA!” Hestia calls out as she rushes past Mr Wyll. He was probably going to talk boring stuff with her daddy, anyway. That’s okay, daddies were supposed to talk about boring stuff. But sometimes they can be fun, like Astarion. He’s a fun daddy. Sometimes.

“I think she’s in the playroom,” Mrs Ali chuckles.

“Thank you!”

Hestia does indeed find Kamara in the playroom. She already has all the toys seated and is currently looking through the dresser. “Kamara! Did you hear me?”

Her best friend turns and smiles. “Yeah! But we gotta get our dresses on, or else the audience is going to be mad. We don’t want the show to start late.” Kamara waves her arm out towards all the plushies that are their adoring fans. Immediately Hestia smiles just as wide.

“I want one with lots of sparkles!”

From ballerinas to detectives to cowboys, Kamara and Hessie fill the room with laughter and imagination. It’s paused when Mrs Ali comes in, though. “Alright girls, it’s snack time. Why don’t you come sit at the art table, hm?” Mrs Ali puts down plates and cups. The plates have peanut butter-filled celery sticks, topped with raisins, as well as some apple slices. The cups are filled with cold milk.

“Thanks mum!” Kamara says, right as Hessie also speaks up, “Thank you!”

Mrs Ali smiles and leaves the girls to their snacks.

“I think I have a loose tooth. I told mum, but she said they aren’t wiggly.”

“Maybe she just missed it wiggling?”

“Maybe. But mum’s been giving me crunchy snacks since I told her. I think she’s trying to make it more wiggly.”

“Oh! That is clever, actually!”

The girls chat through their snacks. When they finish, they decide to stay at the art table and draw. The room grows quiet, save for the sound of crayons and colored pencils. Hestia finds herself in deep concentration and on her third piece of paper, and then feels arms wrap around her.

“Whatcha drawing?” Kamara looks over her shoulder.

“My daddies’ wedding,” Hestia shrugs. “I don’t know when they’re going to do it, but I’ve seen it in movies. And I would be the flower girl! And my daddies would smile, see?” Hessie smiles as she shows off the drawings to Kamara. “Of course, you would be there, with your mum and dad. There would be pretty flowers, yummy cake, and my daddy could sing!”

“Oh, I could wear a dress with fancy sparkles!”

“We could have matching dresses! We could both be flower girls, I’m sure my daddies would say yes. If we asked.”

“Hessie! That is a brilliant idea!”

The girls smile wide, dreaming up more to this fantasy wedding with more drawings. Hestia will make sure to grab the drawings when her daddy comes to pick her up. It would help to have pictures when she tells him all her ideas.
