Cold... Then Warm.

Summary:

Doruru turned pink in the face, resembling that one Axolotian pop-star he forgot the name of. He felt warm, both inside and out. “Affection.” he muttered as he shut his eyes and sighed happily.

Work Text:

…Cold.

Doruru was huddled up inside a cramped room with 3 other Keronians from his platoon. They were all doing their own thing. Miruru was listening to music on her kPhone, Daikeroro was reading his raggedy poetry book and Shivava, well… he was doing his own thing.

Doruru studied his platoon mates in silence. He shivered at the breeze coming from the ventilators that have been on all night emitting a chill breeze throughout the dorm. Doruru hated the cold, he wished he could properly tell people that he was uncomfortable, but it was hard to say what he wanted to say due to his speech impediment.

He was propped up on his firm bed with his back facing the wall, one knee up with his arm and scarred hand resting on it. Shivava was sitting across from him, humming while he seemed to be working on invasion homework. Irritated, Doruru tried desperately to get Shivava, or anyones attention, but failed due to him not really doing anything other than grunting and clearing his throat.

Cold! he suddenly blurted out. Miruru, Dai, and Shivava turned to look at him, confused and maybe worried. Doruru hid his face, embarrassed. Are you kidding me? Did I actually just do that? He thought to himself for a split second. “Sorry.” Doruru said. Suddenly, he felt the weight shift on the end of his bed.

It was Shivava, giggling. “Don’t apologise, dude! It’s okay to be cold, you could’ve told us earlier!” Shivava smiled at the blue frog while moving his hands out of his face. Miruru suddenly got up and went to Doruru’s bed and sat on the ledge. “Yeah, don’t be afraid to speak up on small issues like this!”

Dai, still sitting in his arm chair with his corny poetry book, blurted out: “We can’t control the vents, unfortunately.” He said. Shivava groaned at his leader's remark and looked back at Doruru. “Well, if that’s the case, let’s all snuggle until the ventilators turn off!” He nudged Doruru. “That sounds nice.” Miruru giggled, moving closer to Doruru and putting her arm around him, all nuzzled up. Shivava did the same and they were both warming Doruru from both left and right.

Doruru turned pink in the face, resembling that one Axolotian pop-star he forgot the name of. He felt warm, both inside and out. “Affection.” he muttered as he shut his eyes and sighed happily. “We love you, Doruru.” Miruru said, face snuggling against his shoulder. Shivava’s head popped up from leaning against Doruru’s head and spoke. “Dai! Come over here and snuggle! You’re missing out!” He chuckled as he went back to cuddling.

“No can do. I am busy.” Dai scoffed and rolled his eyes. “Well, screw you too, I guess!” Shivava muttered. Dai went back to reading, but he couldn’t help but admire his partners being so cute together. After what felt like forever (in reality, it was 5 minutes), Dai gave in.

“Fine. I’ll come.” He sighed and put his poetry book down. The 2 frogs snuggled next to Doruru were sleeping, but Doruru wasn’t. He looked at Dai and attempted to smile, but only a slight smirk showed. It felt like an arrow got shot through Dai’s heart. He rolled his eyes again and smiled, climbing into the bed and resting himself on Doruru’s stomach, using his cape as a blanket covering all 4 of them.

They all went to sleep. Doruru felt happy and warm. Who cared about the ventilator when he had his 3 loving partners making him feel wanted and loved.
