Chapter Text
No POV:
Ponyboy and Sodapop were wrestling outside, Sodapop obviously winning at this time. Darry watched them with a smile on his face and some coffee at his side. It was early in the morning, earlier than usual when they wrestle like this. Sodapop hadn’t even gone to work yet.
Darry looked up from his newspaper when he heard Sodapop yelp in pain. His eyebrows furrow as he sees Sodapop try to shake off Ponyboy, who had bitten his wrist. “Get off you foul beast-” Sodapop laughs when he can’t get Ponyboy off. Sodapop hugs Ponyboy, “Fine, I surrender.”
Ponyboy lets go of Sodapop’s wrist and shouts in victory. Darry rolls his eyes when he figures no one was actually hurt and goes back to reading the newspaper.
Sodapop cringed as he examined his wrist, the bite was deep but luckily didn’t break any skin. Sodapop looked over at Ponyboy who was sheepishly grinning and shook his head with a grin himself. “What will we do with ya, Pone?” Ponyboy laughed.
Time skipp, because why not :3
Sodapop just got to work, Steve was already there since he had to come in early for missing a day. Steve smiled at Sodapop, “Hey, glad you’re finally here. It was boring without ya. Also, you’re on cleaning the bathrooms duty for today.”
Sodapop groaned and rolled his eyes. “You always give me cleaning the bathroom duty when you get here first.” Sodapop said as he pinched the bridge of his nose. Steve furrowed his eyebrows as he looked at Sodapop’s wrist.
“Hey, did you get bitten by something?” Steve asked as he gestured to the hand Sodapop was using to pinch his nose. Sodapop looks down at his wrist before sighing and chuckling.
“Yeah, a horse.” Sodapop replied. Steve snorted knowing exactly what he meant. Obviously the bite didn’t look like a horse, because Ponyboy does not have the same shape of teeth or mouth of a real horse. (Probably acts like a horse sometimes tho-)
Throughout the whole day people were asking questions about the bite. Wondering if there was an animal out there they should look for, or if he won the battle of whatever the bite came from. Sodapop said yes to the last question, not wanting to admit to Steve that he lost to his little brother. Because Steve would definitely know if he said he lost.
This particular moment struck out to Sodapop, it was when a little girl came up to him and pointed at his wrist. “Did you get attacked by the monster under the bed?” She asked with concern on her face.
Sodapop smiled sweetly, “Course not, the monster under the bed becomes your friend once you get older.”
The girl shuddered in sympathy for a moment. Then she tugs Sodapop down into a crouch position to whisper into his ear, “Then was it Timothy? He lives in the woods and bites people, but he’s usually nice to me and Amanda.”
Sodapop went pale for a moment and laughs it off. “Ah, no, it was just my little brother and I playing around..” Sodapop said, not exactly wanting this girl to be afraid of horses for no reason.
The girl nods her head with a smile and runs back to her parents. Sodapop stares at her in concern as he goes back to doing his work.
After a while, Steve notices he’s acting a bit off. “Hey, you okay, Soda?” Steve asks as he works on a car.
Sodapop nods his head, forgetting Steve can’t see him. “Oh, uh, yeah. Just some girl came up to me and started talking about this person called Timothy, he lives in the woods and bites people.”
Steve stilled for a moment and then comes up from the car with a confused look on his face. “He what?” Steve asked.
Time skip to after work, y’all can imagine how that went >:3
Sodapop arrived home just an hour after Ponyboy got home from school. Ponyboy was in the kitchen grabbing an apple when he saw Sodapop, “Hey, Soda!”
Sodapop smiled, “Hey, Pone.”
Ponyboy glances down at Sodapop’s wrist, slightly surprised to see the bite still there, even if it was more faint now. “Hm, I really bit ya hard.” Ponyboy said and bites into his apple.
Sodapop laughs and nods his head, “You sure did.”
