Haley walked into class
She sat down near the back next to Alex, he was the captain of the gridball team and a bit of an idiot but he’s also a decently handsome guy so most of the girls fawn over him. Haley and Alex have known eachother since forever though.
“Hey hay-bae how's your break been? Been anywhere fun?” Alex asked Haley when she sat down.
“I mean yeah, sort of” she replied “ Abigail invited me to a concert of hers, it was alright, but Emily dragged me to one of her stupid in-the-woods gem yoga things, there were bugs, like everywh-
“Alright class, settle down.” called Mrs Caroline from the front of the classroom. There was a new girl next to her, she had cherry red hair and was wearing a t-shirt and dungarees.
“So as you might be able to see we have a new student. She just moved in from ZuZu city so be nice.”
Alex leaned over to haley. “For someone from the big city You’d think she’d be hotter.”
Haley silently agreed with him. The new girl really wasn't much.
Over the next few months Haley and the new girl didn't interact much but she heard through the grapevine that she lived on the old farm just outside of Pelican town.
Haley was mildly disgusted by the idea of the new girl working on the farm and getting covered in mud.
“Haley, hey, hey girl” Leah was tapping Haley on her shoulder. “Did you even hear what Abi was saying?”
They were sitting at their usual spot on the bleachers ‘watching’ the gridball team practice for an upcoming game.
Haley stared blankly at her friends.
“Of Course you weren't,” said Abigail. “ But whatever, as I was saying I heard that my dad was planning to start selling actual makeup from my mum and since you’re the only one in this town who knows anything about makeup you are coming with us so that dad doesn't end up buying something awful.
Haley stared a bit more still half lost in thought. “Yeah alright i’ll help you with that, say do you know what the new girls name is?”
Leah glanced at Abigail and the two gave a look to Haley. “Are you telling me you don’t know the name of the girl you have been staring at for the better part of two months?” asked leah in disbelief
Haley blushed and yelled indignantly “I haven't been staring at her!”
“Of course.” Said Abigail with a skeptical look. “But yeah I do know her name, it's Edith.”
“Oh that's a unique name” muttered Haley to herself while her friend gave each other unimpressed looks.

Back at home after dinner Haley was upstairs in her room writing in her diary.

So during lunch Abigail and Leah said that I have been staring at the new girl (her name is Edith btw) but there is no way I have, I mean why would I? She’s a farm girl! It’s not like Edith would notice anyway she’s not popular, like, at all like I am. I mean she could be she’s pretty and I heard She’s really nice and honestly as a farm girl she would be really strong which is honestly really hot and-

Haley realized something
She might have a crush on edith.
