Cordy hadn’t felt this good in a long time, last night had been amazing. Really the best night of her life! Lucifer was the perfect lover, so attentive and this thing he did, wow. Even though his whole devil act usually would have been a bit of a turnoff, but he really pulled it off.
She rolled around in the silk sheets of his bed to look at his perfectly carved face.
Her high-pitched scream was so loud, it had probably woken up every drunk left in the night club beneath her and this red burned thing in front of her.
“What is the matter darling”, asked the literal, biblical, devil. Strangely enough she could still hear a british accent in his reverberating voice.
Wide eyed she made a gesture to his face.
“You didn’t seem to think so last night my dear”, the devil felt his face. “Oh”, he added silently.
His face turned human.
And her voice was back: “You- You are the devil!”
“Yes darling, but now don´t be-“
She interrupted him: “But that means hell exists! And an afterlife! And heaven? That’s amazing!”
“Uhm what?”
“It means I’m not gonna die. Well die eventually but not stop existing.”
“What?”
“On the topic of dying… you’re not going to kill me, right?”
“No, I don’t harm people, unless they are guilty.”
“Right, good just to make sure, I’m in the non-guilty category?”
“As far as I’m concerned, yes, I can’t see your soul, but I do like to think my lovers aren’t so guilty that they will go to hell.”
“Good, that’s great!”, Cordy nodded.
“But, if you don’t mind me asking”, Lucifer continued: “Why are you so glad about the idea of hell? Most of you humans have long since run for the hills at this point.”
“Might still happen. And I’m mainly glad about the afterlife thing. From what I’ve heard I would prefer heaven over hell, no offence with it being your home and all.”
“None taken, hell is boring, or painful for you lot I suppose.”
“To answer your question, I’ve had this existential crisis, for like ever, or more ever since I’ve had any will to live. Way too many years waisted feeling and doing next to nothing. At least it feels like that”, she grew silent for a moment swallowing the knot that for some reason still formed when she thought about it, before she continued: “Anyways I have decided that to me pain beats nothingness ten times over- not trying to give you any torture Ideas- and bliss would be even better, but since I don’t- didn’t believe in an afterlife I was really panicking about the fact that I’m highly mortal. And that death is completely inevitable”, she ended cheerfully.
Then added: “Wow, I’ve like never told someone all that.”
“It’s the face, people like to tell me things”, the devil grinned.
Surprisingly the devil was a really great guy, not just in bed. He ordered some Chinese food for the two of them and they talked all morning about the afterlife, depictions of the devil, and mainly a “detective” the devil really liked talking about. She tried to tell him that he was head over heels for her, but the guy denied everything! How can someone be that oblivious?!
